I'll be with family this week so don't be surprised if I'm late on a story. I'll do my best to keep on schedule, but after this week (if I do miss any deadlines) it'll be fine next week. Enjoy~

Good luck and be safe!

Ace looked at his phone with raised brows and wide eyes. The pro-hero just texted him to be safe at camp. He was sitting in the back of the bus with Marco next to him and Sabo ahead. Marco saw his look of surprise and asked what happened. "I got a text from Roger to be safe at camp."

Marco was surprised, too. "It looks like he has a soft spot for you." Ace would like that, but had a feeling he was like this with all his employees just by how much they adored him. Ace texted back that he would be and would learn a lot. There was no reply for awhile until he got a thumbs up.

The bus ride was three hours. There was no bathroom on the bus, but there were three stops. They all had money because they were told they would be allowed to buy one snack at the place they stopped at. Ace thought it was very thoughtful, but heard the other class didn't get to do that. After all, both first year classes for the hero course were going to the camp, just separated by buses right now.

Music played lightly and there was plenty of chatter. The bundles of sleeping bags and other duffle bags were under the seats in the compartment below, with regular purses or backpacks on the overhead compartments, like a plane or fancy train. The seats were plush, and very easy to fall asleep in.

He had headphones on as he relaxed in the couch-like seat. He rested his head against the window as the bus smoothly drove them through the cities and freeway before they turned off on another road. They had already been separated from the other bus when they turned off the high way and started their ascent to the camp.

Ace woke up because the bus was more jerky and bumpy on the windy roads that spanned the mountains. There was beautiful scenery on their way up, and they saw a variety of wildlife. A lot of deer everywhere. It was mostly untouched. They did stop at the only gas station for the next hour long drive, and the last bathroom stop.

Ace got a bag of peach ring candies and a lemonade. It took forever for everybody on the bus to use the bathroom, those at the end of the line getting the worst place. Ace got back into his seat, and Marco sat back next to him. Ace pulled a blanket out from the overhead compartment and laid it across his front so he was covered.

This bus was luxury, and not just meant for rich school trips. So it had a lot of features a school bus wouldn't usually have. And that was nice. Many had pulled the shades down on the windows, but Ace kept his open, the scenery very relaxing to watch, even when the bus went over bumpy parts.

When they got to the elevation with the snow, Ace got excited for the cold. It was very warm in the bus, though. He had a arm length fabric glove that clipped to his under shirt's sleeve to keep it warm the whole time. He had it resting in the sling, having no use for it at the moment.

"Those gloves are really cool. Where'd you get them?" Iida asked, sitting behind their row.

"The hospital sent me some. I don't know who they're from, though. But it works really well. I didn't even pay for them. I got two right and two left ones," Ace said with a smile. Marco comemented he was glad Ace had support. He nodded in agreement. Marco was the one to fall asleep at the last thirty minutes. He had no window to lean on, so he did on Ace's shoulder. He didn't care, he'd slept against his friends too many times to count.

When Marco shivered, Ace moved the blanket to fit around both of them while he used his left hand to look at his phone. "So cute," Uraraka whispered. Ace ignored them completely. When Katakuri started to speak, Ace woke Marco up. They were nearing the camp, and they found the bus had caught up behind them.

It was lightly drizzling, not snowing. There was snow stuck to the ground in tiny patches, but it was raining. Ace had expected snow capped mountains, but there was only snow higher than where they were.

Ace leaned over Marco to see out the windows of the other side and saw there was snow behind them. Luffy loudly complained that it looked like they couldn't build snowmen. "You were never promised to build snowmen," Katakuri said smoothly, used to handling Luffy's outbursts. Scoldings didn't work with him since he never saw he was wrong when speaking blunty and randomly. So the teacher just answered them and moved on immediately. "We're coming up, and you will all get your things from the buses and take them inside. Put on your jackets, now. It's pretty cold."

They put on the jackets they had with their things. Ace pulled the hood up, and made sure his arm glove was on tightly under the thick jacket. It was like a bunch of marshmallows walking around, all so puffy in the parkas that it was a weird sight. Mineta was definitely just a styrofoam puff with a human head on. That size really sucked.

They all went on their ways inside, the second bus following. The teachers supervised, talking lightly about the weather. It wasn't supposed to rain long, though. The area was honestly very beautiful. There were plenty of sounds of wildlife from around. Ace wondered if there were wolves. Maybe he could train with his quirk by trying to get along with animals. A bird getting along with other birds of his kind.

He wondered what he could accomplish with improving his quirk in the future. He looked forward to it. They entered the nicely sized cabin, two stories, and went to designated areas. "Welcome, zygotes!" All Might said suddenly, them not knowing he was there.

"All Might!" some said. Ace thought his outfit was funny. Usually he wore his usual hero outfit or a suit, but now he was in jeans and a thick parka. It looked out of place.

"Be prepared to work, young boys and girls. Here, this is your room for the boys, and for the girls." There were many more boys in the class than girls, so they put their things away and had much less room once the other class came, too. Since it was still muddy outside, the rain having stopped and not expected to continue, they weren't practicing outside.

The two classes gathered in the dining room. It was huge, as it wasn't safe to eat outside all the time. The other camp that had burnt down had meals outside. But this one was somewhere completely different. "While we're here, everyone will practice safe behavior. Meaning not wandering off without permission, no doing anything to upset the wildlife, and staying aware of where you are and where've you;'ve been.

"Out back, there is much more room and the open forest for training. We won't be leaving this place for a week, all to strengthen yourself for the provisional license exam. You will push yourselves if you want to improve. It will be painful and uncomfortable for much of your self-training, but it's by pushing yourself that you'll grow.

"Be creative with your training, and ask us for direction or suggestions if you need. If anything seems unsafe or dangerous, run it by us first. Understand?" They affirmed this. "Good. We're going on a short tour of the premise."

The building was simple but well decked out in terms of where it was located. There was a huge yard behind it and on the side, as well as a vegetable patch for food, some dogs, two horses and then the open forest beyond. There were caves that were off limits, and they were told the boundaries where they could go, which was pretty restrained.

After they got dressed in exercise clothes that were acceptable for the cold weather, they spaced out and got to work. Ace wasn't sure what to work with. Unfortunately, he ended up inside and in the bathroom, using it's mirror, with a magazine from the owners room. He wanted to work on his quirks ability to change into other humans. He could do any other form he wanted, but he neglected as a human. So he did that for a few hours.

Then he took a nap in the room, which was embarrassing when someone from the other class demanded to know why he got a nap. He'd jerked awake and was very startled. He didn't know what to say besides the fact he had permission from his teacher and doctor. "Oh! A medical issue? I'm so sorry!" he said with a bow. He had crazy eyes and white hair. Ace recognized him from the sports festival with the repetitive name.

"I- it's okay. I just need sleep more from a disorder. Um, well, I'll be getting back to training." He put on his parka and went outside to see his miserable classmates. Not from the weather, but that their quirk training was just terrible in general. Ace felt bad for his being painless when everybody else was crying or sweating bullets. Sabo was grinning, though. The area around him was full of clouds but he didn't seem exhausted.

"Ace! It looks like when there's a lot of water in the air, I don't get so dehydrated! I think it's the thick humidity here, how damp the air is." Ace grinned for him finding out something new. But that wouldn't apply in most situations, it was just an interesting discovery. Marco was fighting, battling with Midoriya, with everyone else doing their own training. Ace went to Katakuri, observing everyone from what looked like a hard mochi look out tower. "Ace, how is your training going?"

"I took a nap after awhile but I want to do something more interesting and helpful. I just don't know what I should train, or how I could improve anything?" Ace replied honestly.

"What do you want to be able to do? What's your next step in advancing your quirk?" he asked. He was also sitting in a mochi chair. It smelled really sweet.

Ace said, "I want to be able to change the interior of my body to be that of another form. Mostly wanting to be able to breath underwater or use poison and venom. But I worry about hurting myself attempting those things. Like, damaging myself beyond repair, but trying to reshape my organs and everything."

"Hm, that does sound dangerous in its own way. Well, what about trying to change your senses? Part of your quirk appearance is with cat ears, right?"

"...Fox ears."

"Fox ears. Are you able to listen through those? Perhaps you can create the inner ear canal shape to help you hear like they do." Ace gasped. That was an amazing idea! "I give you permission to use your phone for research. This might give you an advantage."

"Thank you!" he said, and flew off the tower and back inside. He'd never modeled his senses when he transformed. Maybe because he couldn't, or maybe because he had no reference. He never studied the inner workings of an animals body. He went in the bathroom and got on his phone, glad it had its own wifi tower here. He references 3D images and photos, forming an ear on his head, getting rid of one ear and pugging the other.

Like modeling clay, he molded the shapes and curves of the inner ear of a cat. He read cats had better hearing than dogs, so he worked on that. He finally got rid of his other ear and formed a second cat ear. It felt like he was in another world. He could hear all sorts of things he couldn't before.

He could hear everyone outside and the small noises from inside, like the creaking noises or the air through the heaters. He was amazed. So, he could modify the sound. He didn't care about taste, didn't want to mess with sight, and wasn't sure how to change his scent. When he looked up the reasons, he knew that was a no go. He'd have to change his own brain to do that. Hearing like this was good enough.

Before now, he'd not really ever thought about why he couldn't use the senses of animals. It was because he wasn't trying hard enough. If he'd done more work into figuring out how the inner ear was in canines and felines, maybe he could have been hearing better for years.

This was great progress! But again, he was discouraged about doing anything to risk altering the ability to turn back into a human. But as he thought, he was confused as to what his quirk really was. Was he changing his body like an illusion, or becoming another creature? He still could think and speak like a human. He knew he wasn't able to urinate or poop in an animal form, he could still eat. Did he change his insides, but only those he consciously knew he had to use?

After all, the internal organ system of one animal will be completely different from a human. Maybe he was only keeping what he knew he needed to to function. If he said "whatever" to the rest of the inside of his body into something else because he didn't need it and just let it change.

But he's have to change it up more to breathe underwater. He'd have to sacrifice something he had in common with all other creatures. Most: the need to breathe. As he was, he was not comfortable with trying to change his method of getting oxygen. He wasn't confident enough. He should try and work on size, or texture of what he can do.

He headed to the back a bit, behind the most commotion, and made himself get bigger and bigger. But he found once he reached the size of a large dinosaur, he started to feel heavy and uncomfortable. He was slow. Any creature, no matter the size, was susceptible to gravity, right? But that had to do with weight. He made himself all lean no large portions of fat but size was still an issue.

He didn't think he couldn't copy Mt. Lady's quirk and make himself huge. Well, that was fine. He didn't see a real amazing thing he could do as a giant. There was already someone with that quirk. The teen wondered if he could become a massive sea monster with weight not affecting him. He wished they were at the beach or a lake. Maybe he could become a sea monster that just needed air. Maybe he could be a sea monster who had big lungs. He wanted to see! But he knew there was no big body of water up on the mountain, and he'd be expelled if he left the camp to go and swim in the ocean. He could wait.

After a long day for everybody working on their quirks, it started to lightly snow. Katakuri and the other teachers weren't worried about the weather, and much to the students' disappointment, the snow didn't stick at all. No snowball fights or snowmen. They went to bed exhausted and mildly disappointed.
