At Trina's home
"I can't believe you only have a few more weeks of chemo Cat" says Robbie
"I know and my memory is getting better, I'm sorry for yelling at you yesterday, because where the cancer is if I get to hot because of the heat my temper tends to flare up l don't like being angry" says Cat
"are you going to be like that forever" asks Robbie sincerely
"probably, cancer does damage that's why I have to wear this stupid cooling vest, I'm absolutely freezing but I can't handle heat at all anymore it's terrible" says Cat
"I hope you realize that it basically prepares you for living in England Cat" says Tori
"shoot I forgot we were video chatting, maybe my memory isn't as good as I thought" says Cat
"Cat your memory is getting better it takes time, it rained all day yesterday and now the roads are covered in ice, I knew it got cold here but I didn't think that happened till later, look at the ice on these windows Cat" says Tori switching her camera to show the window
"wow, what does it feel like there" asks Cat amazed
"very cold, Jade and I cuddle every chance we get" says Tori changing her camera back
"have you done any spicy stuff together yet" asks Cat
"no, we're waiting for the time you can visit so we can do that together, honestly I'm loving it here, people are a lot more friendly than the people in LA" says Tori
"they're not freaking out that even for a few hours you were considered as creeps or pervs" asks Cat
"they do when they first met Jade and I yes but then we'd explain it to them and they cry, a few of them have daughters who have crushes on girls two years older then them, they understand the struggle that new law put on them, those girls are actually coming over tomorrow to talk to us about that, it's going to be interesting, they're your age Cat, unlike us who have known you for more than three years on ole level or another, these girls only met their crush once, it's dangerous" says Tori as Cat's head drops
"what just happened" asks Jade
"her head just dropped" says Tori as Robbie cries
"Robbie listen to me, take the cooling jacket off and perform CPR, she needs warmth, she got too cold" says Jade as Robbie tries to as Olivia walks in
"her head drop again" asks Olivia
"yes" says Robbie
"she's just unconscious from being so cold, her blood would be gelling, put this heating pad on her, wrap it around her chest and turn it on high" says Olivia handing the heating pad to Robbie
"how are you so certain her heart didn't stop" asks Jade
"because it's happened a lot, Mr. Vega turned the temperature for this room way down, the cooling vest is plenty capable of cooling Cat's body, making the air cold too doubles the effectiveness of the vest, I've asked him to raise the temperature three times, each time Cat's head dropped I'd tell him, he doesn't seem very bright" says Olivia as Cat warms up
"he's a cop not a doctor, I'll text Trina in a bit, how's she doing" says Tori
"Cat's fine, though she will need to rest after that…. My mom was a nurse in the cancer ward before she died Tori, I grew up hearing stories of cancer patients who lose control of their temperature regulation being easy to overchill or overheat, one way to explain it is to do a eight mile run in the dead of winter, you lose all your body heat, it's not a good thing" says Olivia
Meanwhile with Trina
"ugh you're being ridiculous dad, you don't know the first thing about making sure Cat is ok, she has a cooling vest, her bedroom doesn't need to be cold" says Trina
"yes I read the instructions on her vest, it says it exchanges heat for cold, I thought making her room cold would boost the effectiveness of it" says David
"it works like an air conditioner, for it to work like you think she'd have to be half naked with it directly contacting her skin which would cause skin damage, it doesn't work off her body temperature but the air temperature, what you're doing could seriously damage her heart" says Trina
"omg I'm so sorry, I didn't know" says David as he rapidly turns up the temperature to ambient in Tori's room
"Olivia has been staying here since Cat went into the hospital, she's been telling you exactly what I said for two weeks" says Trina
"she said it more like an option not fact, she has terrible framing for a former majorly popular band member" says David
"she doesn't think you're very bright dad, her mom was a nurse in the cancer ward in Washington state, when it comes to Cancer I have to say I don't think there is anyone smarter than Olivia White" says Trina
"you have a crush on her don't you" asks David
"what absolutely not, can't I admire someone's smarts without liking them, she's not my type, Sadie is" says Trina
"honestly given how smart Sadie is I'm not seeing a difference" says David
"the difference is Olivia is Dating Mohini not me, as sad as it is that Tori isn't here to teach me rules I finally understand personal space, even if I did have feelings for her Dad she's super famous, even after the band broke up when Stella passed away, the fans still support her to this day, I'd never be approved of by her fans, you don't know what it's like to be the most unpopular person in ALL of LA dad" says Trina
"that can't possibly be true" asks David dumbfounded
"IT IS dad, local companies call me the toxic girl, I tried to buy this dress earlier today that Tori's wanted for a year so I could send it to her and I was carried out by security the moment I was spotted in the store, they claimed I'd give the store a bad name if they let me shop there" says Trina
"the puffy one with the dangles" asks David
"yes" says Trina
"hold the fort I'll be right back" says David
At the store 25 minutes later
"She's toxic to businesses sir" says Manager Herald
"how so" asks David
"she's been seen stealing" says Herald
"I assume you have proof, I am a cop but she is also my daughter, if you have proof she has been stealing then I will deal with it" says David as Herald shows him a video of someone stealing
"see she's steals" says Herald
"that is most certainly not my daughter" says David
"she's Mexican what's the difference" says Herald
"neither of my daughters are Mexican you racist, they're Puerto Rican just like me so either give me the names of the other companies calling her a 'Mexican Thief' or I arrest you right now, one Spanish speaking nation is not the same as another, even more specifically just because one person who may or may not even be Mexican does NOT mean all Mexican or people of Spanish descent steal" says David as Herald horrified, writes down the company names and addresses
"she was looking at this dress, it's a five hundred dollar dress, I apologize for assuming your daughter was stealing but they don't make this dress anymore, we are the only store in California with any stock left and the other companies around LA warned me that people like her have been stealing, I'm not racist it's just that losing even a single dress like that to a non-paying customer would have led me to lose my job and I need this job to pay for my daughter's chemo, she has cancer, most likely terminal if chemo doesn't work, my daughter is six years old" says Herald
"if I call my daughter here to buy it will you let her" asks David
"yes though I could get attacked by the other businesses for doing so as she is seen as a thief, even though clearly not true as I now realize" says Herald
"how about this, you agree to testify against the other companies in court and I will make sure your daughter's chemo is paid for" says David as he texts Trina
"wouldn't that be a bribe" asks Herald
"technically yes but if you told the truth about your daughter then I feel obligated to help out, cancer treatment isn't cheap, especially for one so young, I grew up with barely anything to my family name, I know what it's like to struggle, the money wouldn't be my own, I have a few people who owe me favors for saving their children from violence, what treatment is she on" says David
"the mobile one, she's afraid of hospitals because my mom, who she was really close to died last year battling cancer herself, she took it the worst, she's actually here, Ashley come here" says Herald as Ashley walks over
"is he mad at you daddy, is he mad that you made that nice girl leave, she gave me candy when she saw the medicine bag" asks Ashley
"what kind of candy" asks Herald
"lollipop, it was as big as my head, it was yummy I'm sad that I dropped it" says Ashley
"did she buy that lollipop" asks Herald
"no, she makes candy, low sugar content and she uses real fruit juice that she makes herself, that's how she had enough money to come to this store, her and her little sister who is stuck in London England after a summer vacation mishap, they started the little business themselves, it's who she was buying the dress for, her candy is very popular, to be quite honest it's worth more than she's charging for it, it costs her ten dollars for every five she makes and she only sells them for a dollar and a half she's actually in the long run losing money but it made her happy seeing the smiles on kids faces when they can have relatively healthy lollipops, now that she can't spend her money it's actually scaring her, she talked about moving to Germany or Spain, she grew up here and now she's afraid to walk around her favorite places, I knew it was bad but I didn't think stores were that mean to her" says David as Trina walks in embarrassed
"why did you make me come here dad, they don't like me here" cries Trina
"it was a misunderstanding, I'm very sorry for making you feel that way, this isn't exactly a cheap part of town, a store across the street had some girl who looked Spanish of some kind steal something expensive, they made a profile and unfortunately you fit most of the criteria, this is a Spanish store and while we don't like to make people leave, in light of recent thefts we had to implement a first sight removal protocol of anyone matching that description, it was not our intention to make you feel terrible, in fact the has a policy about righting wrongs, your father provided the proof that we made a mistake, therefore you get twenty-five percent off your purchase" says Herald as Trina reveals a lollipop in her hand
"can I have that, I dropped the one you gave me earlier" asks Ashley
"that calls for a freebee missy, here have two" says Trina handing Ashley two lollipops
"why two" asks Herald
"because as scared as I was coming here I knew she was here, I saw the mobile chemotherapy bag when I was here, my sister's friend Cat Valentine is going through the same thing, only she lost her ability to regulate her body temperature because of the cancer she had so I know it can be tough, plus they're healthy so why not, I just wish I could afford to keep making them, my sister and I started making them to have a little extra money, it was all her idea, all so she could buy that dress, then she got asked to go to London with her new girlfriend Catarina Valentine and I was left to make them myself, it's more profitable when you can make them at twice the speed and half the time, it takes me an hour to make ten" says Trina
"do you have the money on you" asks Herald
"yes why" asks Trina showing the money
"then let's ring this up, I'd had hopes to bring children in to make having a child section more reasonable, what if after you bought this dress I make a deal with you, you take care of my daughter, I'll pay you to take care of her, she only went on chemo two weeks ago and I've messed up the change of the chemo bag seven times, you must have experience" says Herald
"I mean I have pretty steady hands yes, though I have to question why you'd trust me with your child, I've wanted kids but I'm not good with them like my sister is" asks Trina
"you make candy, my daughter wants to be a healthy candy maker, the cancer kind of put that in question, it's a bad cancer and the doctor says it doesn't always respond to treatment meaning she might not make it, in case she doesn't I want to have her live her dreams while she can" says Herald scanning the barcode
"you have to believe she's going to make it through this sir" says Trina handing over the cash
"I want to but my mom died of cancer never getting to live her dream of being a teacher due to being dyslexic, as young as she is it would break my wife's heart if she didn't get to have fun if she does pass" says Herald
"what would my pay be" asks Trina
"a livable wage of fifteen dollars an hour, her treatment regimen is two months so you will be paid for at least that long" says Herald
"what happens after that, how long would I be watching her" asks Trina
"for the length of her treatment left she would live there, what happens after is up to her" says Herald
"your giving her that much choice" asks David
"Cancer is something nobody should have to go through let alone at her age, she's taking it so well so yes I'm giving her more responsibility and respect than someone her age normally gets" says Herald
