Chapter 30:

'Oh, shit," was all you could think. There must've been around a dozen lycans or so gathering from around you in all directions, jumping down from the trees, running from the village and towards you. You took a couple of unsteady steps back and felt your foot stepping on something. Turning around from Miranda and the lycans, you spotted the rifle and quickly picked it up. You fired a couple of shots at one of the lycans with surprising precision, managing to hit one in the head, but for the rest of the lycans that remained, they seemed to get excited. The lycans started running towards you and you quickly turned around rushing off, Miranda laughing in the distance.

You sprinted as fast as you possibly could, willing your legs to move faster than they would let you. You could hear the lycans growling after you and pushed yourself to go faster, running back towards the Village and trying to think of where to go. You briefly thought of going back to the Castle, Alcina would definitely be able to kill all of the lycans and so would the girls. But the question was could you find Alcina in time before the lycans would catch up to you? What if she was all the way up on the second floor in her office and only just heard your screams as you entered the castle? Plus, the castle had already been stormed by the lycans before and it didn't go very well. No, your best option was to probably run to Heisenberg's where he was expecting you anyways. Where else would you go, Donna's? Moreau's?

You ran through the desecrated village, past the old houses, and made your way towards Heisenberg's, bursting through the gates and running as fast as you could to his factory. You could still hear the lycans behind you and didn't dare look back. It was a miracle that you had managed to outrun them for this long and though your arms and legs were already sore, you willed yourself to continue sprinting to the factory. The familiar yellow-brown smoke flowing steadily from the factory and the old smell of oil and burnt steel reached your nostrils, making you feel a bit safer. One of the lycans came running right up beside you and stared at you with a look of hunger in his eyes. You whipped out your sword and sliced at his legs, watching him fall to the ground and you continued your path towards the factory. "What the hell happened out there?" came Heisenberg's booming voice over the speakers.

"OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!" you yelled, feeling a newfound burst of energy.

"Only if you say please," Heisenberg teased.

"HEISENBERG!" you screamed, hearing the man laugh over the speakers. You were being chased by a hoard of lycans, running for your literal life, and he was making jokes? You understood why Alcina despised him so much. "Come on in, pirate," Heisenberg said. The large front doors opened automatically and you could hear shots being fired from somewhere above. Some of the lycans that had caught up to you fell to the ground and you didn't bother checking to see if they had gotten back up.

You ran right into the factory and saw Heisenberg and a few of his soldats aiming guns right at you. "Move, Tiny!" he yelled. You jumped off to the side and moved out of the way, rolling onto the ground and heard the sound of guns firing at the remaining lycans. Heisenberg was laughing like a maniac as he emptied out his magazine and continued firing at the lycans. He was crazy! You panted against the floor and looked up, seeing the lycans falling to the floor and watching their blood spray everywhere. "Nothing like a good, old-fashioned gun down, am I right boys?" Heisenberg laughed, killing the last of the lycans and closing the doors.

You closed your eyes and rested against the floor. Your legs and arms hurt like hell and you were exhausted from running for so long and fast. "Well, that was fucking fun," Heisenberg said, walking over to you and helping you to your feet.

"Are you... fucking crazy?!" you panted, clutching a stitch at your side and looking at him bewilderedly.

"What? That wasn't fun to you?"

"I ALMOST DIED!"

"Oh, quit bitching! You're fine! Ethan's the one that died, not you!" he yelled. You looked down at the floor and sighed. That was... sick. Absolutely sick, watching Miranda rip out his heart and squeeze the blood on her face made you feel queasy and you cleared your throat. "You're not gonna throw up, are you?" Heisenberg asked.

"No," you said, shaking the thoughts from your head and rubbing your face. "Do you have security cameras set up all throughout the Village or something?"

"Are you dumb? How else would I know that Ethan died," Heisenberg said, pulling a remote out of his coat and aiming it at the soldats. He pressed a button and you watched the soldats line up and stand still. "Just wait here for a while, the rest will be back soon," Heisenberg said to the motionless soldats. He gestured to you to follow him into the factory.

"Wait, what do you mean they'll come back?" you asked him.

"Oh yeah, I'm sure Miranda's crazy ass will send the whole pack after me," Heisenberg replied. You stopped walking and grabbed his arm.

"Wha- but- how- how will we fight them all?"

"We aren't going to do a damn thing," Heisenberg said firmly, yanking his arm away from you. "The soldats will hold them off for now we just have to wait until they're all dead so we can start the real fight."

"Real fight?" you asked, confused.

"Jesus, did you hit your fucking head or something? The fight to kill Miranda! Oh sure, she can send the lycans after us all she wants, but it's just a distraction. We'll wait for the soldats to kill off the lycans, at least the majority of them, before moving out and killing Miranda."

"But, I thought you had control over the lycans? I thought they were yours?"

"So the fuck did I. Miranda used her voo-doo, bullshit, magic powers to control the lycans. That's why I've built the army soldats, they can't be mind-controlled like how the lycans can."

"You're sure?"

"Pretty much, yeah. Only I can control the soldats, with this," Heisenberg said, pulling out his remote again and showing it to you.

"Okay, great. And that little remote control controls all of the soldats? You're sure she can't mind control them?"

"Yes, I'm fucking sure! Jesus, you really think I would create an entire fucking army and not prepare for the possibility of Miranda mind-controlling them?"

"I don't know, I have amnesia and don't remember a goddamn thing, remember?" you said, feeling impatient.

"Hey! Don't get a fucking attitude with me, Tiny! I'm still a Lord!"

"Not my Lord," you said, smugly.

"Shut the fuck up!" Heisenberg led you over to the elevator and pressed a button. You felt the machine rumbling under your feet before it slowly started ascending up the factory.

"What do we do now that Ethan's dead?" you asked, gazing down at the floor.

"Carry on with the mission, what else would we do?"

"Feels kind of... wrong."

"Why, because he's dead?" Heisenberg asked, looking at you. "What, are we supposed to stop fighting and let Miranda kill us all because some wannabe hero died?!"

"No, I don't mean that! I just mean... his daughter. With the flasks and everything, it just feels wrong knowing that he won't be able to resurrect her now."

"Oh don't worry about that Tiny, I still plan on that." The elevator came to a jerky stop and Heisenberg walked down a hallway.

"What? You're going to resurrect Ethan's kid?"

"Fuck yes! You have any idea how powerful that child is?!" You recalled Miranda and Ethan's conversation. She had said that Ethan's child, Rose, was supposed to be the successor or more powerful version of someone. "With that kid's powers, we could take Miranda down, no problem!"

"But isn't she just a baby? How the hell is a baby supposed to kill Miranda?"

"With her powers Tiny, are you even listening?" Heisenberg asked, annoyed. He opened the door to his office and walked inside and you followed him in.

"But, I don't get how a baby is supposed to kill Miranda? How can she-"

"Just trust me, alright? I have a plan," Heisenberg said.

"I'm still not sure I should fully trust you," a voice said from the side. You looked over and saw that man, Chris was it?

"If you don't trust me then you can leave, the door's right there!" Hesienberg yelled at him. Chris rolled his eyes and looked towards you.

"So... Ethan's dead?"

"Yeah," you said, looking down to the ground disappointedly. Chris sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"You guys need a moment or something?" Heisenberg asked.

"Are you always this annoying?" Chris asked him, looking up.

"Again, door's right there," Heisenberg responded, pointing his gloved finger at the door. Annoyed though he was, Chris seemed set on staying in the factory. You weren't sure exactly what you were supposed to be doing here right now. What would the next step be? You were originally supposed to draw Miranda out of her lair and lead her towards the factory, but that was obviously a disaster. You did manage to get Miranda's attention momentarily, but you hadn't anticipated all of... that to happen. "That was kind of a shitty plan," you said out loud, breaking the silence.

"I agree, not one of my best," Heisenberg said. Suddenly it made so much sense to you and explained why Alcina did not want you to leave the castle and go through with the plan.

"That was your plan?" you asked.

"Yeah, again not my best," Heisenberg said from the security cameras he was monitoring.

"What even was that plan? That was just stupid!"

"HEY!" Heisenberg bellowed, turning around angrily and facing you. "I said it wasn't one of my best plans, okay? It was just a way to try and get Miranda to come out of her hiding place!"

"And then what was supposed to happen?"

"I was going to have Ethan send me a signal that would tell me she came out, but it was supposed to be closer to the factory. Not by the church."

"That was just plain stupid," you said.

"Fuck you!" Heisenberg turned his attention back to the security cameras and pulled out one of his cigars.

"I'm going to need another reason as to why I should stay here and wait with you instead of taking matters into my own hands," Chris said. Heisenberg sighed heavily and walked over to him.

"Well here's a good reason for you, picture a hundred lycans running after you and trying to kill you. Tiny here barely managed to escape, you think you could outrun an entire army of those fuckers?"

"If you think those flesh-eating rotting corpses are the worst thing I've faced, then I've got some news for you."

"Look, just be patient, okay? We will go after Miranda and kill, that's literally been my entire life's work! But, you don't know Miranda like how I do. You have no idea how powerful she is. We can't just leave the factory and go after her, she'll kill us instantly! Unless of course, you want to try and prove me otherwise," Heisenberg said. Chris sighed again and crossed his arms.

"Fine. Then what's next?"

"We wait until the lycans start attacking. I'll send my soldats out to kill them, once they're all dead we can make our way to Miranda's lair."

"Why didn't we just do that in the first place?"

"Because! You don't go running into the lion's den like a dumbass! You have to explore other options, anticipate your enemy's move." You were beginning to understand more and more of Heisenberg's plan.

"Were you just using Ethan and I as a decoy?"

"If I did, do you think I would tell you?" You felt your blood boil.

"I almost fucking died!"

"Calm the fuck down! Not that I give a shit, but do you really think I would let my super-sized, bitch, sister's girlfriend die? Do you know what she would do to me? She would cut my dick off! And besides, like I said before, I have eyes and ears all over the Village. I was watching the whole damn thing! I didn't leave you and Ethan stranded, I had some of the soldats set up around the Village! What do you think killed the lycans that were closing in on you when you were running here?" You looked down and thought back, remembering the gunshots you heard going off in the distance while running towards the factory.

"Well if you had soldats set up around the Village to protect, then why didn't you use them to save Ethan?"

"Oh what, and risk Miranda knowing that I'm the one that sent Ethan? She would've known where Ethan came from and where you were running to if I had the soldats intervene. She could've had the lycans jump you at the factory and kill you then instead of just chasing you around the Village." You rubbed the back of your neck and thought. "No need to thank me!"

"I'm not thanking you, I still almost died!"

"But you didn't! All thanks to me," he said.

"You're impossible."

"Can we just focus on the mission?" Chris asked.

"Sure, this is the mission," Heisenberg said, "we wait here while the lycans close in around us and let the soldats do their thing. Once all of the soldats are dead, we can start to make our way to Miranda's lair and face off there. Not the safest idea, but there's nothing else we can do. And we're not blowing the Village sky high, asshole!"

"Blow the Village?" you asked.

"His plan! Not mine," Heisenberg said.

"You were going to blow up the Village?!"

"As a last resort, and as a way to contain the mold."

"That's- that's even worse than Heisenberg's plan!"

"Thank you! See? Mine wasn't so bad."

"Your's was only slightly better!" you yelled. "Look, Chris, right? You're not actually going to blow this place up, are you?"

"If Miranda and the mold cannot be contained, then I won't have a choice. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't set it up yet, Y/N."

"Yeah, please don't." Chris took a breath and looked you over.

"As long as this plan ends up working, and Miranda and the mold die, then I won't have to."

"Oh look, here come the lycans," Heisenberg said from the security cameras. "Well if you two need me, I'll be off manning the soldats."

"You're not leaving my sights," Chris said, not trusting Heisenberg.

"Oh, you want to face off against over a hundred of those psychotic fuckers with just one gun and an old rifle?" Heisenberg asked. Chris seemed to think about that. "You can watch me from the cameras over there if you want, but I won't stop you from playing soldier." And with that, Heisenberg walked over to the door and opened it up. He stopped just short of leaving. "As long as you two are here, Y/N, you should ask Chris about where you came from. You deserve to know the truth." Heisenberg opened the door and closed it behind him, the clinking of his heavy boots growing further away from you in the distance until it was silent. An uneasy and eerie feeling came over you as you pondered over what the Lord just said.

"Since we do seem to have some time, I guess I should start by apologizing to you," Chris said, looking down uncomfortably at your BSAA bag that was still on the table where you had left it last. You sighed and walked over to the couch knowing you would probably need to sit down for this.

You used to spend your entire days wondering about where you came from and who you used to be. Now that you knew a little bit of the truth of your past and your newly regained memories, it all sounded horrible and tragic. You wondered if you even wanted to know about your past anymore, or if you just wanted to continue to sweep it under the rug and pretend that it didn't bother you.
