Down in the castle infirmary there was a constant scuffle of someone pacing. Kai and Dr. Nilsen were staring at Gerda as she shuffled along the whole length of the room.
"She is going to worry here path into the floor Erik."
"I know, but she has good reason to Kai. This has all just gotten completely out of control. And we are worried what will happen is are suppositions prove to be true."
"Are you two sure that.."
"YES! Kai, Erik and I are certain. Well Erik is a bit more reserved and I think to scared to really want to believe it to be true. What I am telling the both of you is that I KNOW that it is true and that we have to protect them. We have to run as much interference as we can and make sure the King and Queen never find out. If anything happened to Anna because of this… I don't know if Elsa would be okay. For the safety of both of those sweet girls the three of us will say NOTHING and cover any tracks to ensure no one else discovers this."
"Gerda… Long term you know this plan is not the answer. I hate to say this, but we are working against borrowed time! We are lucky as it is that Anna hasn't blown her cool already. You know that girl's temperament better than any of us. She has a tendency to fly off the handle especially if it pertains to Elsa."
"You don't think I know that? What are our other options though?"
Gerda finally stopped pacing and held her ground in front of both of the men. She stared them both in the eyes and would not let release them from her piercing gaze. Both men shifted in their seats.
"Gerda.."
"NO! If either of you have a better plan I am all ears, but until then I will keep my girls as safe and happy as I can. Is that understood?"
Both Kai and Eric shift in their seats and glance at each other before they both deflate and nod their heads to Gerda. They all were still as stone as the weight of what was now their new reality settled on their shoulders. If they were caught they had zero doubt that they all would be found guilty and executed for treason. None in that room cared. As far as anyone of them was concerned they were being loyal to the crown. When it came down to it they all loved and cared for those girls as if they were their own and they would pick and follow those girls to the end. As far as the people in that room were concerned Elsa was the crown. They slowly got up and stood taller as they dispersed and separated. A new sense of purpose seemed to settle behind them. There was a shift in the air, and no one was quite sure if that was good or not yet.
I know this is a really short chapter, but since I have been so busy and a little MIA on this story I figured I could write a little short and semi-important chapter for all of you guys. I really appreciate you guys for sticking with me and hanging in with my very sparse updates. Thanks for reading!
