Ch.7: Welcome to the Family

"So, are you ready to go?", Twilight asked.

We were standing by the front door of the Castle. I wore a simple white T-Shirt and Blue Jeans. Initially, I was supposed to have dressed nice, but then one of my favorite activities came into play.

Bowling.

After that became part of the plan, I simply just put on some clothes. I chuckled as Starlight stammered when she saw me. Not saying a word, she headed out. She was meeting with an old friend that night.

I smiled, giving a thumbs up to Twilight. "I am, Princess Twilight", I smiled. Stroking my beard, Twilight opened the door and we strolled out.

It would be a night I would never forget.

It did not take long before we arrived at the bowling alley. Right in the middle of Ponyville, it was and is a popular destination. Thankfully, we were going on a Monday night, so in theory, busy would not be the word to describe the place.

"Sis!", I heard a voice cheer. Twilight grinned as a white unicorn with a blue mane swept her into a hug. "Shining!", she cheered, giggling as Shining ruffled her mane.

"Come now, dear. Let her down", a kind, somewhat royal voice said. I turned to see her. Princess Cadence. I never once let Shining know this, but as the expression goes, I temporarily got hit with the thunderbolt that night.

Sensing this, Princess Cadence trotted over, her eyes lidded. She dipped down, giving me a kiss on the cheek. I regained my composure, rubbing my eyes as Twilight was set down.

Shining then nodded at me. "Is my sister too much trouble?", he asked. I shook my head no. "She's fine enough. A bookworm, plus the pony of many questions". The night before, Twilight had kept me up to half past Midnight, grilling me about human medical disorders.

Shining shook his head as Twilight groaned. "There's my Twilight! And my Armor!", a female voice rung out. Before brother and sister could escape, they were wrapped into an embrace by their parents, Twilight Velvet and Night Light. The two siblings struggled to no avail. Twilight turned her head to me, motioning to go inside. It would be a second.

I nodded, only for Twilight Velvet to focus her attention on me. "You must be David!", she said, tossing Twilight in the air. Twilight did a perfect 360, landing right on her hooves.

I backed up, before too being swept up in a hug after she too let Shining down. Night Light was embarrassed and headed on in with his kids, Shining and Cadence. "You must be so tired from working today"

I waved it off. "Just my back really. I"

"You poor thing!", she exclaimed, hugging me tightly. Nearby, a Pegasus couple stopped their flight to watch this. "Mamm, I think he's turning blue", the mare said with a frown.

Twilight Velvet set me down, and led me inside, blushing. Though I did not know it, that had indeed been Spitfire and Sorian.

"How many are there tonight?", the cashier asked behind the counter.

Twilight Velvet stepped forward. "6", she smiled.

The cashier looked confused. "But I count 5", she said, giving me a disgusted look.

Cadence noticed and got in the cashier's face. "You know, my status as a Princess gives me a lot of influence. I could give you guys a terrible review. What would that do to your business?"

"We don't serve his kind", the cashier shot back before there came a displeased throat clearing behind her. "Excuse me?"

She turned to see a red unicorn with a simple black mane. "N-nothing sir", she mumbled.

"You are on dish duty for the rest of the night. I don't want to hear any more comments like that out of your mouth. We serve all customers, no matter who they are. Is that clear?", he asked, looking pissed.

The cashier nodded, trotting away with a frown. The unicorn turned to us. "Sorry about that", he smiled. "Some ponies I swear-Oh hi Twilight", he smiled.

Princess Twilight stepped forward. "Hi Chaos!", she said.

"You two friends?", I asked. Chaos nodded. "We were both students of Princess Celestia. And we dated when we were younger. We made better friends in the end", he smiled softly.

Twilight smiled. "Anyways, 6 of us. We want 3 games and would like 2 pizzas and soda too."

"What kind of pizza?", Chaos asked.

"Meat lovers", me and Shining said in unison, before laughing.

"And a Pepperoni", Night Light added.

Chaos nodded, ringing it up. "Say David, do you need a job?", he asked after Cadence paid.

I shook my head. "Nope. Working with Pinkie Pie."

He looked at me sympathetically. "Poor human. Don't let her shoot you out of the party cannon. She did to me one time with a plastic turkey and a sugar holder. That's a story for another time".

Laughing, we split up into 2 teams. Me, Twilight, and Cadence vs Shining, Night Light, and Twilight Velvet.

An hour and a half later, the teams were tied at one game apiece. Me and Twilight Velvet had the most points. It was the last go of the game. All the pizza had been eaten, and soda drank. Cadence went up to bowl versus her husband.

"Say Shining", Cadence smirked. "Let's make this interesting. If I win, you have to give Blueblood a complement at Day Court tomorrow."

Shining smirked. "If I win, you can't use your love magic for a week."

Cadence narrowed her eyes. Focusing hard, she went to bowl. And got a strike. And another.

Shining had his mouth agape as he did his turn. The bowl rolled down the center before careening into the gutter. He tried again and managed to knock down 7 pins.

The two embraced as I watched. I could not help but a frown a bit internally. I wanted love like that.

Wishing the two couples well, me and Twilight returned to the castle, going our separate ways. Twilight was going to shower. I went to the library to return a book I had left by accident in the living room earlier that day.

As I placed the book on the shelf, a mirror in the room began to flash vivid orange and yellow. I backed away from it, as suddenly, a human with yellow skin and orange hair fell out. She wore a biker jacket and purple pants.

"Oh hi", she said as numerous books fell around her. "I need to see Princess Twilight", she said, as 3 suitcases popped in from the mirror.

I had just met Sunset Shimmer.
