So remember when I said school was kicking my butt… yeah. I really meant it T-T.
"We'll just have to see how it pans out."
"Whenever they're both ready their journey will be an interesting one at that."
"I couldn't agree more."
Natsu stared at the ceiling of his room. Recalling how fast this year has gone. In 2 weeks, Natsu will have known Lucy for an entire year. How time flies. They have been officially dating for about two months now and he personally has never been so happy before. The world just seemed so much better with Lucy and Kade in it.
Sighing, he continued to stare up at the ceiling, they've been through a lot this year. It seemed almost like yesterday that they met and slowly became friends over time. He wondered what the future held for them. He only hoped that wherever they went, it would be an adventure. Natsu had already made plans for tonight. Seeing as they both had work today, Natsu gave himself enough time to plan out a dinner and to find Kade a babysitter. Luckily Levy was kind enough to offer to take Kade and finding that she and Gajeel wanted to have some of their own soon, what better way to practice before they became parents themselves.
Natsu had everything all arranged. Tonight was going to be amazing. Smiling at himself, he rose out of bed and dialed Lucy's cell. On the second ring he heard, "Hello!"
"Heya Luce! Good morning."
A giggle came through before what sounded like a muffled, "Good morning Natsu."
"What are you doing today?"
"Besides work, picking Kade up and having a quiet night in."
"Hmmm… No you're not."
"What do you mean, no I'm not?" she mocked his voice through the phone.
"What I mean, ya weirdo, is that you have plans tonight around 8."
"Oh do I?"
"Ya sure do."
"What about Kade?"
"I got him covered."
"Do I even want to know?"
"Best to not ask questions. Just be ready by eight and I'll come pick you up."
"Uhh okay? What should I wear?"
"Something nice. Ohhh! Do you have a red dress?"
"I think so."
"Wear that."
"You don't even know what it looks like?!"
"Don't need to. You look great in everything."
"You can't just say stuff like that?!" came her shrill voice through the phone. Natsu had to fight the smile from his voice.
"I can't complement my beautiful girlfriend?"
Lucy stuttered a response. If he had to guess she's as red as a tomato at this point." You're so much fun to tease," he laughed "I'll see ya soon."
"Not like I have a choice in the matter, do I?"
"Eh not really."
"Can I at least know where we're going to dinner?"
"Nope." popping the 'p'.
Lucy sighed in exasperation, "Alright Natsu, I'll see you at 8."
"Sounds good Luce."
Later that evening Lucy heard a ring at the door. Looking through the peephole she spotted a familiar piece of light blue hair. Opening the door almost immediately, "Levy!"
"Lu!" Levy squealed. "Girl where have you been? The only time I see you is at work these days. The girls and I have missed you!"
"I know. It's just been so hard juggling work, Kade's sports, and-"
"Let me guess, is it someone with pink hair that never stops talking about you?" She raised an arched brow.
Lucy blushed at the last statement. "Natsu isn't that much of a handful."
"Well that'd be a first." Levy rolled her eyes. "That boy has never stopped moving and wouldn't listen to anyone except Igneel."
"He's not that bad."
Levy eyed her in suspicion.
"He's not!"
"Sure Lu, whatever you say."
"Well enough about me. What are you doing here?"
"He didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what?" she questioned.
"Guess it's a surprise." she half heartedly shrugged, "Anywho, I'm here to watch over Kade while you're out."
"Really?"
"Really!"
Lucy turned to where Kade was in his room, hiding behind the door, only a crack in the door gave away that he had been watching the exchange between the two women. "Kade honey you can come out. This is my best friend Levy." Lucy waved him over.
Kade took some shy steps toward them, toeing every step he took. His doe eyes gave a nervous glance up at Lucy before switching to Levy.
Kade reached his mom's side and hid behind her legs, taking a firm grasp on her shirt and peering over every other second. Levy crouched down to his level and spoke softly.
"Hello Kade. My name is Levy. It's nice to meet you. I'm a good friend of your mothers."
"H-hello." Came Kades reply, barely a whisper of noise left the boy.
Levy glanced up at Lucy and smiled. "You know Kade, I've heard that you're a fan of dragons. Is that true?"
A small shake of his head confirmed her answer. "Well you know, I happen to be a super-mega dragon fan myself. I also happen to have some new dragon books on me. Would you like to see?"
Kade looks up at his mother for approval. Lucy nods with a soft smile on her face. Levy stands up and grabs her purse she left by the door. Inside there were three books, all of them with different dragons on the cover page. "These were some of my favorite books when I was your age."
Levy held out the first book for Kade to hold. This one had a photo of what looked like a boulder dragon, swooping low as if ready for combat. Their mouth open wide, screaming at the oncoming enemy with its strong wings fanning out through the air.
"Woah." Came his astonished gasp. Levy looked up at Lucy in approval.
"Kade, would you like to make a pillow fort and read these books with me?"
Kade looks up at Levy, still shy but slowly warming up to her. "Only if Mommy says so."
"Of course you can sweetheart." Came Lucy's reply and she feels Kade leave her side, he walks towards Levy with unsure steps he looks at the other books in her hand. "I can't read very well yet. So you'll have to help me sometimes."
Levy giggled. "That is perfectly fine with me buddy. How about we make some snacks beforehand," Levy loud-whispers the next part, "and if we're really sneaky we can make cookies." winking up at Kade, Levy smiles at him before looking over at Lucy.
"Cookies!" Kade hushes back at her. "Before bedtime."
"Uh-huh."
Kade looks back at his mother, "Mommy we're making a fort! A fort!"
"I know kiddo. I was here when she said it. Now before we can make a fort, Mommy is going out with Natsu later tonight. Can you promise to be good for Levy?"
"You're going out?" He repeated, his enthusiasm deflating after learning the news.
"Yes but you are going to have so much fun with Levy!" She tries to keep the mood high, lest she wants to leave Levy with her boy in a full meltdown mood. It happened from time to time, but she didn't want one now.
"Kade," Levy said "While your Mom's gone for tonight we're going to have so much fun! We can watch any movie you want! Make a fort! Eat cookies! You name it bud and we can do it! How does that sound!"
"Okay that sounds fun!" Kade jumps around.
"Alright let's help Mom look her best for Natsu!"
"Yeah! I'm fired up now." unbeknownst to Kade, Levy stares at Lucy giving her an incredulous look. Lucy just shrugs, used to it at this point. She walks over to her room and gestures for Levy and Kade to follow.
By the time Lucy is done and waiting for Natsu, her hair is curled behind her back in soft shining ringlets, the dress she is currently fancying is an off the shoulder, sweetheart red dress that brushes the top of her thighs. What once had maybe filled her frame now completely hugs her curves and swell of her breasts. Even Lucy knew she looked good in this dress. To top off her look, she had on a soft blush to dust her cheeks, shimmering gold across her eyelids, highlighting just how honeyed her eyes were, and mascara to top everything off. She kept her lips a soft pink, not wanting to make too bold a statement.
Three knocks hit the door as Kade and Levy were admiring their work. Despite what Levy says, she's practically a wizard with a curling wand. Kade bolted for the door. Knowing who was at the door immediately.
Opening said door was followed with a cheerful, "Natsu!"
Natsu scooped the boy into his arms and hoisted him onto his hip. "Hey pal how are you! You ready for next weekend's game!"
"Hehe yeah!" Kade laughed in his arms before wrapping him up in an awkward hug trying to reach his neck. Natsu readjusted them so he could hold Kade properly to return the favor.
When Kade popped his head out of Natsu's shoulder he stared at him, locking eyes in what seemed a very serious matter, "Natsu look how pretty Mom is."
Natsu turned his head to where the blonde was standing, in his peripheral he could see Levy sitting on the couch with what looked like a fort.
"Wow Luce. You look…"
"Is it too much? I didn't know how nice the place we're going to is and you said to wear red. If this is too much I can change."
"Nonono! Luce you look absolutely breathtaking." He shook his head to clear his scattering thoughts.
Lucy released a sigh of relief, her shoulders sagging with the action. "Would you mind telling me where we're going?"
"Nope." he turned to Kade in his arms, "It's a secret."
The boy giggled and Natsu released him. Kade found his way to Levy.
Levy on the other hand decided now would be the perfect time to strike. "Can I get a photo before the two of you leave?"
Natsu and Lucy look at each other before sharing twin smiles. "Sure." they both answer.
Natch walks behind Lucy and wraps his arms around her waist. Like a dragon protecting his treasure. Lucy immediately blushes but doesn't pull away, Levy snaps a couple photos before asking kade to join the fun, this time Lucy holds Kade on her hip while Natsu is smiling looking down at the both of them, before looking at the camera and giving a bright smile. Levy ends the photoshoot and tells them she'll send over the photos after their date.
Content with that, Natsu and Lucy say goodnight to Kade, assuring him that they'll be back soon and not have too much fun with Levy.
Kade nods his head and like the brave boy Lucy knows him for he smiles for the two of them and wishes them a goodnight.
Levy ushers the two out of the door, "Don't want you two to miss your reservation. Get going! Me and the munchkin will be fine I promise!"
With that the two get into Natsu's car and head off to dinner. Levy turns back to Kade with a sunny smile on her face, "Alright kiddo, what do you want to do first!"
Kade smiles a real smile, "Fort and cookies please."
"You got it."
