"...smiles rested on their faces as they drifted off into a sleep deep enough where even dreams couldn't reach them."
When Lucy woke up the next morning she couldn't remember the last time she had slept that good. Her pillow was soft and warm...and smelled like a certain pink haired boyfriend she knew all too well. Her body went rigid at the realization. Thoughts filtered back like skittering leaves in the breeze, a vision here and there. Noticing a lack of clothes between them, she got a good idea what they had been up to last night. But she couldn't help the feeling of rightness. She found herself holding back a smile, a small content sigh left her lips. She could get used to this. Natsu was practically a walking furnace, and sharing a bed with him made the sheets feel like a warm cocoon that you never wanted to leave.
Tilting her head up slowly so as to not disturb Natsu, she admired how young he looked when he slept, he had a slight snore, and puffs of breath crested over her cheek in rhythmic motions. She noticed that while one of his arms had become her pillow for the night, he was sure to have no feeling in his arm when he woke up, the other kept her secured to him tightly, almost like a comforting seatbelt. Her mind drifted again to their night before, she was definitely going to be sore in some places, but the ache felt good in a way. Reassuring that what happened last night was real. Of course they used protection, Lucy did want another kid, but not so soon. She wasn't ready for another one just yet. But having a child with the man currently dozing beside her, she wondered what their kid would look like if they had one, would they sport his pink hair or would they have a similar shade to Kade's, or their eyes what color would they be. It was so early in their relationship but it felt like they had known each other for years.
Maybe someday down the road she would find out. Only time would tell. But right now she was currently enjoying cuddling with her boyfriend and couldn't be bothered with any more brain power. If she was lucky she could maybe go back to sleep for a couple more hours.
Liking where her train of thought was going, she shifted closer to him, and took notice that his arm tightened before relaxing again. Natsu let out a groan before placing a knee between her legs and tightening his hold once again.
The action made her blush, her face a crimson red that almost rivaled Erza's hair. Her boyfriend was a cuddler. Noted. Lucy tried to quell the butterflies flying rampant in her stomach, and focus on sleeping.
Five minutes past...then ten...at the twenty minute mark from what she could assume, she wouldn't be falling asleep anytime soon. Lucy let out a whine of her own. The one time I actually get to sleep in, and I can't. Great. Thank you. She said to herself.
Lucy preoccupied herself with playing with Natsu's bangs, they fell haphazardly around his face, the locks were surprisingly soft, she tugged on one of them, gaining a huff from Natsu. A small smile spread across his lips. "I take it you won't go back to sleep." not a question she noticed. His voice was hoarse and rumbled through his body to hers, relaxing and attracting all at once.
"Can't." was all she said.
Natsu just nuzzled his head in the crook of her neck, taking refuge there for a moment before he spoke. It didn't seem like he cared that they were both naked in bed together, as if this was as normal as waking up on a Sunday morning. She found the thought oddly comforting in a way. Lucy began scratching the back of his head, musing the rumpled head of hair beneath her fingers, toying with the strands and untangling any knots she found along the way. Natsu hummed in contentment, taking a deep breath in before slowly exhaling, the air sent shivers down her spine in the most pleasant way possible. "What time is it?" he said into her skin.
"I don't know. Early I'd guess. I haven't gotten the chance to check my phone."
With much reluctance and a grumbling of it being too early, Lucy got up and grabbed her phone from the center table. She looked at her lock screen to see she got a text from Levy.
Got Kade to bed with almost no issues, he misses you. Says good night and he loves you. Hope the date is going well ;)
Another one popped up five minutes ago. Kade is still fast asleep, I'll be making breakfast, I rummaged through your pantry so don't worry about me finding things. Hope your night went as well as I think it did. You have to tell me everything the next time I see you. Spare no details! Text me when you guys are awake and on your way. I have no plans today, plus it being Saturday, take some time to sleep in.
Lucy decided that she and Natsu could have a little bit more time together before going back home. It was Saturday so that meant soccer was today around 10 am. Lucky for them they had about two hours, give or take. Turning back around she noticed that Natsu was face first into the pillows, red stinging the tips of his ears.
Quirking a brow she tried to imagine what had him react like that, then a breeze from outside drafted in from the window. She realized why now, she had walked to her phone in her birthday suit. Yep. That'll do it. Lucy's own cheeks felt like they were going to be permanently red now, padding quickly over to the bed, she hopped into the covers, while she felt completely embarrassed for forgoing clothing, she couldn't help but appreciate that Natsu gave her privacy if she needed it. With that thought in mind she turned towards him and tugged at a lock lightly. All that gained was a grunt, and Nasu peeking out the corner of his eye. His cheeks darkened.
"Thank you." Lucy said gently.
"Of course, I just want you to be comfortable."
Lucy snorted, Well obviously I'm comfortable around you, I literally got out of bed shameless.
Natsu laughed then, rocking the mattress along with his laughter. Lucy looked perplexed before realizing she said that outloud. She didn't know if her face could get any hotter, she decided that hiding in the blankets was the best option.
Once Natsu quieted down he started poking her side through the comforter, "Oh come on, don't pout. I'm happy you feel that way. Hell I'd rather it be that then waking up awkward and shy."
"As if that could happen with you around."
Natsu flashed her a roguish smile, "What can I say. I have a gift."
Lucy rolled her eyes before smiling and planting an unsuspecting kiss to his lips, "I guess you do." was all she murmured before they found themselves enraptured in another kiss, this one less innocent. As they lost themselves in another kiss, Lucy found that kissing Natsu is quite addictive, the softness of his lips, the playfulness of his smile, she couldn't get enough. Natsu decided to take the lead this time, tracing the seam of her lips before coaxing her own tongue out to deepen the kiss. This time their kiss was slow and heated, exploratory hands were hesitant to drift, but after a hum of approval from Lucy, Natsu began to explore some of the things that made Lucy tick. Lucy decided to roam the planes of his hard body, where all the muscles coiled taught beneath her hands, Natsu broke the kiss, panting against her lips he murmured, "You're beautiful." She felt her core tighten at his omission.
"I could say the same to you." she querked back. He smiled, an emotion that she mirrored but was too scared to say danced across his eyes. She saw how much he cared for her, knew it in her very core. However feeling and saying were two completely different things, much less actions. She didn't care who said it first, if it was her when she finally managed to work up the courage, great. If it was him, so be it. But admitting those feelings were scary. As if reading her mind, Natsu rubbed a hand up and down her arm, leaving goosebumps in his wake wherever his hands roamed. For right now they stayed on her arms, breaking her train of thought, Natsu decided to distract her with a kiss. She was more than willing to comply. If she couldn't say it yet, she would show him. She would show him how much she loved him.
For however long they were in that bed, it seemed like time marched at too fast a pace and before they knew it they were on their way back home. Lucy's hand rested intertwined with Natsu's on her upper thigh. Though they had a bit of a drive before they reached town, the car was filled with laughter and off key singing to whatever was on the radio. 'Today is going to be a good day.' Lucy thought. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face, not that she minded. So they drove to her house where an eager boy was waiting to see his mom and get ready for the second to last soccer match of the season.
