Yo ran as fast as she could towards the potions room, she was meant to have been their ten minutes ago but she had got held up, she rounded the corner and opened the door, there in the room next to the cauldron stood Riko with a concerned look.
"Sorry I'm late." Yo said out of breath "I lost track of time."
"You need to get better at that Yo." Riko sighed "And where is Chika?"
"Oh, she can't come," Yo said feeling a twist in her heart "she got injured falling off her broom."
"How did she do that?" Riko sighed.
"She missed judged how high up she was when dismounting and she broke her leg."
Riko sighed before turning back to the cauldron with a sigh "Well that can't be helped, shall we begin?"
"Yes, thank you for helping me." Yo smiled.
"Anytime Yo." Riko smiled.
Yo felt her heart skip a beat a moment when she saw that smile, it always happened and Yo knew what it meant she wasn't stupid, she loved the red head with all her heart, she would feel warm and safe in Riko's arms whenever they hugged and never wanted to leave those soft arms.
Yo was always the more energetic ones doing well at combat magic and riding brooms and the others always fawned over her much to her embarrassment, but Yo always found Riko to be the much more eye-catching person in their classes, when Riko was using her spells and doing potions, she looked so elegant and graceful it kind of looked like a dance and Yo was hypnotized by it.
But she could never bring herself to say it, Riko was too important of a friend to her to risk ruining it all on her feelings, besides Riko had recently been spending a lot of time with Chika and the way she smiled and laughed when she was with the ginger, made her heart be consumed with a burning jealously, she just wanted to walk up and kiss Riko stating the redhead was hers, but even if she did have the courage to do it she doubted Riko felt the same 'She's never going to looks at me like she does Chika.' Yo thought.
"So shall we make this love potion then?" Riko asked quietly and Yo thought for a moment she saw a blush on the redhead's cheeks.
'Of course it's a love potion.' Yo grumbled in her head bitterly before she forced a smile and a salute "Aye, Aye."
Riko let out a giggle at Yo's action which made her heart flutter slightly before Riko spoke "Good, I've already picked out the needed ingredients." Riko said motioning to the table "All you have to do is use your notes to make it."
"Ah, well you see I kind of lent mine to Ruby after Yoshiko blew up again and damaged her." Yo said nervously "So could I borrow yours?"
Riko let a sigh "How she hasn't really hurt herself I don't know." Riko said before taking out her notebook and flicking it to the right page.
"Thanks." Yo smiled before looking at the notes and noticing something on the page "Hey, whats this?"
"What's what?" Riko asked looking over Yo's shoulder.
"This." Yo said pointing to a line that had come through the page behind the one the notes were on "It kind of looks like a drawing."
"Ah, it's…Erm… something for magic defence." Riko said stuttering shaking her hands, Yo turned around and saw Riko's cheeks were flushed.
"Are you sure?" Yo said making to turn the page "It kind of…"
Yo was interrupted by Riko grabbing her hands and stopping her hands turning the page "Yes, I'm sure, shouldn't we be getting on with this." Riko said quickly, before she pulled her hands back with a blush
"Ok, if, you're sure." Yo said deciding to drop it 'Her hands are really soft.' "If you ever need help with that stuff, you can always ask me."
"Are you sure, I don't want to be a bother."
"It's fine, I enjoy that kind of magic and I'll do anything to help a friend." Yo smiled.
"Thanks." Riko smiled back with a slight blush "But we really should get on with this."
"Ok." Yo said quietly before she began to read the instructions "Two rose petals, one dove's feather, then pour the night shadow in until it turns black then stir till it turns purple." Yo listed off the instructions as she followed them.
As she was stirring, Yo looked over at Riko who was watching her with a smile, Yo could see the red head had a strange look to her as she tucked a stray hair behind her ear, a look Yo couldn't work out what it was.
"Ok, now it's just the dragon's tears." Riko said glancing at the notes "Just three drops."
"Aye aye." Yo said before she picked up the bottle, as she took the top off Yo could see Riko had a worried look to her face 'Must be worried about Chika.' Yo thought bitterly as she put the drops into the potion, feeling her heart twist.
"Yo that's too much!" Riko shouted suddenly with a concerned look.
"What?" Yo said confused.
"You put in four drops not three." Riko said as the cauldron began to bubble violently "Look out!" Riko said as she shoved Yo to the side just as she potion exploded.
Yo heard the potion splash all over the room "Ah, it went all over the place." Yo heard Riko say.
"Sorry." Yo said quietly.
"It's ok," Riko said before turning to face Yo "Are you ok, did you drink any?"
"No I don't think so." Yo said as she looked up and saw Riko's concerned face and her soaked cloths, Riko's shirt had been made see through and Yo was a little glad Riko had a jumper on so all she could see was the redhead's neck.
"Did you shield me?" Yo said as she stood up noticing how dry she was compared to Riko.
"Of course I did," Riko smiled tilting her head "If something happened to you, I could never forgive myself."
"Erm…Riko are you ok?" Yo asked surprised by the redhead's comments.
"Yes, your fine and I'm just a little soaked." Riko said taking a step forward and Yo could see the redhead's amber eyes were a little glazed over "Aw, your confused face is so adorable."
Yo felt her cheeks suddenly turn into the surface of the sun at Riko's comments 'Where is all this coming…oh no.'
"Did you swallow any of the potion?" Yo asked worried 'If she has, I need to stop her doing something she'll regret quick.'
"Yeah, quite a bit actually."
"Well then we better see Mari or Kanan." Yo said as she pulled on Riko's sleeve.
"Why?" Riko said with a pout.
"Well you drank the potion and we don't know what it might do to you." Yo said concerned partly what the potions effects might be on Riko but also because of the look Riko was giving her.
"We don't need to I'm fine," Riko smiled devilishly before leaning in close which made Yo gulp "Besides, I've got you all to myself." Riko whispered in Yo's ear.
"Erm…"
"I wish we could spend more time together, but your always surrounded by all those girls who fawn over you." Riko whispered "I makes my heart burn, I want to shout, 'That's my woman', at them but I never have the courage to say it, your smile when your flying is so lovely and you look so majestic like a bird when you're on the broom, it makes my heartache and I feel so small and insignificant."
Yo felt her heart skip a beat at Riko's words only for her to feel upset at Riko putting herself down "That's not true, you look really graceful when your casing spells, like an angel." Yo blurted out before regretting it 'Great that might have made it worse, quick got to think of a plan...'
"Aw, Yo that's such a sweet thing to say," Riko smiled with a blush "I have a lot of things to say to you too, thing's I've wanted to say for so long but I've been too scared to say, so would you mind listening."
Yo simply nodded hoping she could think of something quickly as Riko was talking and maybe put her heart in a steadier beat while she was at it.
"Good, would you mind taking a seat."
Yo suddenly heard a chair move before feeling the chair hit the back of her lags making her fall into the chair "Now then." Riko smiled before straddling Yo's legs "I'm not too heavy, am I?"
Yo just shook her head as her cheeks got even warmer, she was convinced that her cheeks were about to ignite in a moment 'I really hope no one comes in right now, especially Dia.' Yo prayed in her head.
"Aw, your blush is so cute Yo, it's kind of unfair." Riko smiled before she cupped Yo's cheek and her face dropped to a frown "I've seen you hanging out with Yoshiko and Ruby a lot recently, tell me is something going on between you and either of those two?"
"No, we're just friends, really I'm not interested in them." Yo said looking away slightly 'I've been talking to them because I don't know what to do with these feelings of mine and they were the best people I could ask given your talking to Chika all the time.'
Riko smiled again "Good, you know it's really hard not to get really jealous when you have all those girls crowding you, it makes my heart burn and I want to just take to my room and lock you in there so they can't get to you, but that's not fair to you, so I guess I'll just have to mark my territory."
Yo was about to ask what Riko meant but the question died in her throat when she felt Riko's lips kiss her forehead, she was pretty sure her heart had just exploded and forced all the blood in her body up to her cheeks 'Ok, now I really need to stop her.'
"Riko, I really think we need to…" Yo began only to stop when she felt Riko's hand lift her chin up and forcing her to look Riko dead in the eyes, under the intense glare of the amber eyes Yo's voice dried up and she suddenly felt like she was prey under the gaze of a predator.
"You know, I really wish you would have been to the one to do this to me, but I guess it can't be helped." Riko said before leaning down and claiming Yo's lips with her own.
Yo's eye shot open in shock before she melted into the kiss, she was sure she's just had a heart attack died and gone to heaven because that's what Riko's lips felt like to her.
'Her lips are so soft.' Yo thought as the pair continued the kiss 'But I really need to stop this.' But her will to resist melted under Riko's kiss and her body started to move on its own as she wrapped her arms around Riko's waist to pull the redhead in closer, as her mind started to stop working.
All to soon Riko broke the kiss pulling on Yo's bottom lip as she broke the kiss, Riko looked Yo with a pleased smirk, who's mind was still on cloud nine from the kiss and leaned in to then bite on Yo's ear lobe, Yo let out a supressed squeak at the bite and Yo's hand clenched Riko's jumper Riko then moved to kiss Yo neck.
"Riko…" Yo quivered at the series of feather like kisses on her neck.
"I told you, I'm…marking my…territory…" Yo then felt Riko slump down on her shoulder making the chair creek.
Once Yo was sure Riko was staying still she looked over and saw Riko's sleeping face 'It looks so sweet.' Yo thought as she felt Riko' breath tickle her neck as the redhead snored quietly.
Then her mind started to slowly whirr back into life as realization hit her 'Argh, what am I going to do now, I basically took advantage of her, she's going to hate me for this.' Yo groaned in her head 'How could this get worse?'
As if on que Yo heard the door open and Mari entered the room "Hey ladies I was just checking…" Mari said before she noticed the two on the chair and Yo felt like she was about to die of embarrassment "oopsie, sorry to interrupt, I'll leave you two in peace…"
"Wait, come back!" Yo shouted "Mari I need your help."
"I appreciate the vote of confidence Yo but…"
"Riko fell asleep." Yo interrupted hoping not to make this worse than it already was.
"Oh, what happened?" Mari asked closing the door.
"The potion exploded and she drank a lot and we ended up like this." Yo said not sharing the more graphic details.
"Oh, that's odd the love potion I gave you lot shouldn't work like that, or on Riko for that matter, can I see the notes?"
Yo pointed to the table the notebook was on and Mari went to check it as Yo tried to see if she could move Riko who only hugged her tighter.
"Oh, now I see, your notes are wrong, you used shadow not shade, what you made wasn't a love potion but a truth potion."
"What?" Yo said hardly believing her ears.
"Sì a truth potion, a powerful one to and I'm guessing from how Riko's positioned her secrets out the bag."
"Huh?"
"Aw, did you not know, it's fair, she's been doing her best to hide it from you, but I've seen you two stealing glances at each other when the other isn't looking in class, when I said you were struggling with this potion to her, she jumped at the chance to help you instead of me." Mari smirked "It seems she has it very bad for you."
Yo looked at Riko as her heart "So…"
"Everything she said and did, she meant and wants to do with you, she's very deeply in love with you, congratulations." Mari finished "So Yo, do you like her back?" Mari asked already knowing the answer.
"Yes, yes I love her to." Yo countered as Riko nuzzled closer into Yo at her words.
"Excellent, though you two should talk about this in private as she's going to remember all of this and things might be difficult, especially given her parents." Mari said with a frown.
"How do you mean?"
"Well you see her family have been trying to pick a suiter for her, thankfully in the school they can't force her to marry anyone, but they probably wouldn't like you two dating, they want her married off to a rich family, its why she stays on the school grounds all the time so they can't ambush her and force her."
"Anyway that's for you two to talk about, you can take her to to my office, I'll clean up here." Mari said, "Do you need some help taking her there?"
"No I should be fine." Yo said quietly as her mind kept repeating 'Riko loves me.' In her head, Yo gave Riko a peck on the cheek before she picked up the redhead and carried her through to Mari's office on the other side of the potion's room.
