Ch.16: A Gala: Shock

As Discord went to the middle of the dance floor with Fluttershy, Tirek was teasing me good-naturedly about me and Sunset. He shipped us.

"It is always important to show a girl affection" Tirek said. "With Luna there, I know there are times where I have to let her be."

The quarter dropped. "So, you are Princess Luna's lover?"

He nodded. He went to speak further, but Discord now had the attention of the room.

We listened in...

Pinkie for her part was doing the tango with Cheese when Discord began to speak. She was floored. How the Tartarus did Discord know who her biological parents were?

"Me and Cadence" he finished.

The room was stunned. It was so silent that you could hear a pin drop. Pinkies eyes became like saucers.

Twilight broke the silence, trotting over as Cadence and Shining, along with the bundle of joy known as Princess Flurry Heart, entered the room. "How does that work? You were encased in stone when Pinkie was born."

Discord gave an uproarious laugh. "Time travel. Shortly after Fluttershy showed me friendship, I happened to share a doughnut with Pinkie. And it hit me. So I went back in time, disguised myself as a noble, and I'm sure we can figure out the next steps."

Cadence smiled, trotting over to Pinkie. "I know its weird, but I'm your mom, Pinkie" she smiled.

"No, she's not" Tirek grinned. "It's Fluttershy."

This really threw the room for a loop. Everyone considered the possibility, before Tirek began to ugly laugh. Everyone laughed along, realizing he was jesting.

Fluttershy blushed as Pinkie, quick as a flash, embraced Cadence in a hug. "Ohmygosh! Ifinallyhaveananswer!"

Chrysless chuckled. She had noticed how hesitant I was to speak to her.

Kill them with kindness, they always say.

As Pinkie danced with Discord, and Fluttershy with Cadence, Shining had led Tirek away, who was trying to say some jokes that were not for little ones. Flurry had engaged Cozy in a game of Uno, leaving me and Chrysless alone. Sunset had gone to bug the snobs known as Jet Set and Upper Crust.

"Did you get here okay?" Chrysless asked awkwardly. I nodded.

"It was quite nice actually. So, what was that between you and Celestia?"

Chrysless blushed. "I-I'm trying to ensnare her. No actually" she said softly. "She really is amazing."

Chrysless then turned to me. "I can't help but notice. Are you afraid of me?"

In life, there are times when its okay to tell the truth, even if it may hurt the one you are talking to. This was that moment.

"I'm sorry, Queen Chrysless" I sighed. "I'm an emotional person. I'm afraid you are going to drain me of my love or something."

Chrysless said nothing, before smiling.

"Can we try something? How about we test it? I will drain you slightly. It will not hurt. You will not lose any affection for Sunset. I promise"

I thought on it. She had been nothing but nice. I should try.

After giving her a go ahead, Chrysless lit her horn, and my body was surrounded by green energy as Chrysless opened her mouth. Within moments, it was over.

Chrysless gave a small moan of pleasure.

I went to respond, only for Sunset to pull me onto the dance floor.

It was time to slow dance.

I smiled as Sunset put her hands on my shoulders, and I put my hands on her waist. As the song began- a simply romantic melody- me and Sunset laughed.

"Would be better with some Metal" I chuckled. Sunset snickered.

"Imagine that. A royal Gala with some heavy band playing. I think Jet Set and Upper Crust would faint," she said before unexpectedly kissing me on the cheek. I smiled softly, before our eyes gravitated towards each other.

No words spoken; our faces got closer. This was it. The culmination of a four-month journey.

Or it should have been anyway.

As we got closer, we were brought back to reality as a thump was heard. One of the members of the Quartet had tripped and fallen, clutching his right hoof.

In seconds, Celestia had him back on his hooves. "Take a break, Faithful Harmony" she smiled.

Sunset and I looked at each other and laughed.

It simply was not meant on that night.

But we knew it was inevitable.

I will confess that I don't drink much. My family has a bad history with the bottle, so I stay away from it.

Not always though.

It had been two- plus years since I drank, but I made my way to the bar, ordering a seven and seven. It is a combination of Segrum's Seven and Seven up, though it works with any lemon soda.

As I took a sip, I glanced to my right as Prince Blueblood sat down.

As I was to find out- Blueblood was far from the pony of the nobles. Quite the opposite.

A/N: And the Twist is good! I really hoped you enjoyed this chapter. Next time is all centered around me and Blueblood, so strap in. See you next time!
