Ch.17: A Gala: Friendship
I watched as Blueblood called over the bartender with a smile, requesting a glass of red wine. His words were not demanding, but more like a general request.
I, for my part, watched him with intrigue. He had golden blonde hair, and simply looked royal.
As I looked, Blueblood turned his head to me. "Does something intrigue you, David?" he asked.
I shook my head, taking a sip of my drink. "No Prince Blueblood."
He frowned. "I lead a group of professional liars, so I know you are lying"
I frowned as equally. "Sorry, I just. I get the feeling you don't like me."
Blueblood took his drink, taking a sip, staring at the glass. "I would not go that far. I am bemused by you, but dislike? That is not the case."
"If I may ask David, are you being treated well in Ponyville?"
I nodded. "Everyone is usually pretty nice, other than some demanding ponies when I'm at work. Why do you ask?"
Blueblood sighed. "I remember how Ponyville used to treat Zecora for being a Zebra. I feared they treat you much the same."
I shook my head. "It's been fine. Great eve- wait a minute. Prince Blueblood, are you suggesting I may be being treated bad because of having Autism?"
He nodded. "I despise anyone that would mistreat a creature for how their brain works. Or for having a physical ailment."
I smiled softly, looking over to see Cadence trotting over, Flurry riding on her back. Cadence smirked.
"I see you've met my doofus brother" she smirked.
Blueblood rolled his eyes, taking a gulp of his wine. "Such a strong word, Cadence. Now, if we wanted to call Shining a doofus, that would be appropriate" he said in jest.
I watch the two with great intrigue, then my attention turned to Flurry. She looked at me with a big smile. "Hi David!" she giggled.
"Hi Flurry" I smiled. Cadence smiled as I picked Flurry up and set her on my lap. "Lots of important ponies. Not doing anything to make your mom or Dad look bad, right?"
She nodded. "I've been a good girl!"
I smiled. "I bet you like Pinkie being your sister, huh?"
Flurry quickly nodded, before yawning. Cadence gently picked her up. "Aww. I should get her down for a while."
She trotted away. If only I knew that someone was watching how I treated Flurry- someone who wanted that.
Blueblood turned to me with a smile. "Do you have a younger sister?"
I nodded, taking a sip of my drink. "I do. She is seventeen. My sister Alexis."
He chuckled. "Cadence is younger than me. She can be annoying, but she's my sister, and I love her."
I gave him a smirk. "What do you think of Pinkie being your niece?"
"I'm trying not to think about it" he said quietly. "I have known since Cadence got pregnant all those years ago, you know? I hated it. I thought she was too young to be a mother. But when I saw her hold Pinkie for the first time, I knew she would be a great mother, but not that early. She agreed and gave Pinkie up for adoption. I am proud of Pinkie." He concluded.
He then gave me a look. "If I may ask, are you into stallions by any chance?"
I grew confused. "Why would you want to know? Against that kind of thing?"
He quickly shook his head. "No no! I... I may have wanted to make a move" he concluded with a blush.
"Oh!" I said with surprise. "So, you're bisexual?"
He nodded. "I'm impressed by you David. You have taken to being here far better than I would have. You are deeply intelligent, and I am quite sure that your legacy is not at Surgarcube Corners. Your legacy is your friendships. But perhaps its more than that" he said finishing his wine. "Anyways, thank you for the talk" he said going to rise.
"Wait" I said.
He sat back down. I smiled softly. "Blueblood, I have misjudged you. While I love politics, I usually hate those who practice it. I know that for most of them, my concerns are not theirs. But I want you to know...well...thank you Blueblood. You will find love someday. I mean, it has been many years since that failed Gala. Maybe its time to make amends with Rarity."
As he went to respond, he groaned as Jet Set and Upper Crust trotted over with quite the snobbish looks. "Ah, so there's another one of these immoral creatures" Upper Crust smirked.
Before I could rightfully snip back and defend Blueblood, the two heard a growl behind him. They turned slowly to see a quite unamused Tirek staring them down.
"What matters is how he preforms his duties, not how he chooses to love. You two should be ashamed of yourselves."
Knowing to fight another day, the two walked off with their tails between their legs.
What I failed to know, is that these actions would have consequences.
About an hour later, I had found myself chatting with Shining Armor about cooking of all things. He was telling me about a recipe for Omelets when a gentle stallion unicorn trotted up. His mane was red, and he had a blue coat.
"Excuse me David" he said smiling. "My name is Royal Bound, and I have a message for you from Blueblood"
Now what I must mention here is the centerpiece of the room. A wonderful Chocolate cake with sprinkles and the works. It was set up right in the middle of the room.
Anyways, as I nodded for him to go ahead, he grins, taking me in his magic, and flung me into the cake. It promptly exploded, me sliding down onto the floor, sprinkles and frosting all over the place.
This was quite humorous to a couple of nobles, and they laughed as I slowly stood, wiping off my glasses. However, there was someone quite mad at the events.
Blueblood watched the events as he spoke with Fancy Pants, and immediately came over. Lighting his horn, he resurrected the cake and began to clean me off. He afterwards stared at the laughing nobles, who promptly shut it upon seeing Blueblood's expression.
"Listen up. I may not know David all that well, but I have found out tonight what a kind and compassionate soul he is. What you did was not necessary and be sure there will be proper punishment. As for now, you can all get your fat flanks out of this Castle at once."
A huge round of applause followed as the dejected Nobles left. I turned to see Cozy Glow coming up to me with a frown on her face. "Are you okay?"
I nodded. "Just a slight headache, I guess. But thanks for asking. At least I got to taste test the cake" I joked.
Cozy giggled. "Say, can we talk outside for a minute?" I looked to Princess Luna for permission, who nodded with a warm smile.
The following conversation would change my life forever.
A/N: Let me say that I know my portrayal of Blueblood will be controversial. But it is my interpretation, and I hope I brought you all a nice chapter. See you next time!
