My Equestrian Archives-Angelic Harmony

Ch.6: Meeting the Parents

It was a month later, on September 14th, that Sunset and I had taken a carriage to Manehatten. It was my first time in the city, and I was impressed. It reminded me a lot of New York City, but it was not humans as its residents. As we entered the city over a bridge, the carriage turned left onto Daylight Street as we looked at the building. A lamppost said Daylight Apartments. The building had a blue color to it and was eight stories high.

Without a word, I opened the door, and took Sunset's hand as we left. The driver, a Unicorn named Driver, smiled as we told him we would call him when we were ready.

We were silent as we headed up the elevator to the eighth floor. Apartment 813 held her parents- Thoughtful Poet and Helping Hand.

We all sat around the kitchen table, wooden in style, and yellow in color. Sunset and I were on the left side of the table, Thoughtful and Helping on the right. A biscuit basket and jams sat in the center of the table, and a coffee mug was at each of our spaces.

"So, if I may ask, what do you two do for a living?" I asked

Thoughtful, who was a Bacon colored mare with a silver white mane, responded. "I'm a writer. I've heard you are too."

I nodded. "Oh yes. Its amazing to just get into that headspace and world."

Helping, who was yellow colored with a white mane smiled. "She's good at her stories. But sometimes too good. I don't interrupt her when she's working."

"Or else he gets the stare" Sunset giggled. Helping went for a biscuit, only for Thoughtful to swat his hoof. "Let them go first, dear."

Sunset decided to take one. "Hey Mom. So, I need some help with the wedding invites. We're trying to keep the guest list as short as possible- "

"But you don't want to be inconsiderate?" Thoughtful supplied. Sunset nodded. Helping leaned in. "Just don't invite Discord. He scares me" he whispered. We all laughed at that.

"Oh no" I laughed. "The day after I met him, guess who awoke with him dressed as a mare in their bed?"

Helping just straight fell to the floor in laughter. We laughed so hard that for a moment, we did not hear the phone ring. I would notice after several seconds, and I pointed it out. Thoughtful placed the receiver on her head. "Hello?"

She listened, then handed it to me. "It's for you, hon"

I answered it. "Hello?"

"Yes, this is the Equestrian Revenue Service, and I'm calling to inform you that you have a warrant for your arrest. You have unpaid taxes of 750 bits."

I frowned. "Uh huh" I told the mare on the phone. "Here's the issue. I know that the ERS does not call those that owe. They send letters."

The mare got nervous. "Yes, well, we just changed policy- "

Note that Sunset was snickering at this point. I raised an eyebrow at this point before answering. "And I have a condo in Baltimare to sell you."

The voice then broke, and to my surprise, I heard Princess Celestia. The table just straight burst out ugly crying in laughter as I grew confused. Sunset then waved her hands.

"Can someone tell me what's going on?" I asked. Helping smiled. "Sunset arranged the prank call to calm your nerves. She told us how nervous you were to meet us and concocted it to calm you."

Princess Celestia giggled. "Yes well, I need to speak to Thoughtful for a moment"

When she returned from the bedroom, she hugged me and Sunset tightly, telling us how proud she was. Indeed.

The weeks would drift by until October 13th. The Wedding Bells would toll.

You are cordially invited to the wedding of David Allen Root and Sunset Marie Shimmer, and how it went down.
