Ch.7: Wedding
Ah, the Chapel. One of the most gorgeous parts of Canterlot Castle, it is bathed in white and a pure beauty. Over the years, many weddings had taken place there, the highest profile being Shining Armor and Princess Cadence 9 years prior. I was standing upon the steps leading to the pulpit. My best man, Prince Blueblood, stood next to me in his best suit. Sunset's bridesmaids, Twilight, Starlight Glimmer, and Midnight Sparkle, stood across from me. Princess Celestia was in the center, smiling as Flurry Heart walked down the aisle, throwing flowers.
As she took her seat with her parents, a more rock and roll piano rendition of "Here Comes the Bride" played as the chapels visitors stood from their pews. We had invited everyone. All our friends and family, save my family. My Dad could not manage Equestria's gravity, but Twilight had arranged for them to watch.
I beamed as I saw Sunset in that blue and red dress, walking down the aisle as her Dad walked beside her, trying to hold it together. It was not three minutes later that Sunset, and I were smiling, looking in each other's eyes as the piano receded its playing.
Princess Celestia smiled and cleared her throat. "My little ponies, we have gathered here today to celebrate the union of David Allen Root and Sunset Marie Shimmer. I have witnessed their love, and their love is great and true. When a wedding occurs, the souls are bonded. Tradition dictates that a Unity Candle be lighted. Sunset, David, do you agree to the lighting?"
"Yes, we do" we smiled, turning, and stepping forward as Chrysless produced the beautiful Yellow candle, with Brown stripes. Taking a light, we held hands lighting it together as I could hear Thoughtful sniffling. Twilight Velvet reached over to give her a handkerchief.
Princess Celestia smiled as Scootaloo came on up, holding our rings on a pillow. They were blue in color, with Sapphire Gemstones. I took the left one and set it upon Sunset's ring finger, as she did the same with me. Silently, we returned to our positions.
After the vows were recited, Princess Celestia asked if anyone wished to object. I remember laughing as Discord went to, only for Fluttershy to make him sit. After a chuckle, Princess Celestia smiled.
"By the power invested in me as Ruler of Equestria, I hereby pronounce you man and wife."
The chapel burst into applause as we kissed, the song playing once more. Now it was time for a reception.
In the Gala Hall, me and Sunset had already cut the cake and had our first dance. The cake was German Chocolate, crafted by Pinkie Pie who refused to eat it, even as Rainbow Dash dared her to.
To be truthful, me and Sunset were exhausted. We had been up since four that morning, and it was now six in the evening. We looked forward to our honeymoon in Fillydelphia, and reflected on it, before seeing Fausticorn enter the room.
Fausticorn came over as Sunset and I stood, bowing, me even adding in a Sign of the Cross. Fausticorn smiled. "Sunset, remember how I told you 3 years ago about you being the seventh Element?" Sunset nodded in bemusement.
"Well, today, Element of Integrity, I gift thee wings" she said lighting her horn. Sunset gasped as Yellow wings sprouted from her back. Rainbow Dash came over and hugged Sunset. "Awesome! A new flying buddy!"
"Speaking of which, I think I'm gonna take Cozy flying while you two are gone."
Cozy went to respond, only to gasp as she saw the two enter the hall. Harmony Prairie and Cookie Jar. Cozy's mouth wavered. She went to speak but could not.
Harmony trotted over, wrapping her daughter in a hug. Fausticorn smiled. "They have come home, Cozy"
For that young girl, there was nothing sweeter.
About an hour later, Sunset and I were getting ready to enter the carriage for the two-hour trek to Fillydelphia when we saw Fausticorn and Celestia giggling, as Luna did too. I looked as the new sneakers Luna had gifted me as a wedding gift, which warmed your feet during colder times.
"It's sure a mystery what they're giggling about" Sunset noted. I nodded.
And so apparently, it was. Then the 5th of November came...
