Dean was on the phone with Arizona authorities when he saw Amara walk in with a deadly look on her face. He was going to go back to minding his own business when he noticed Cas walking behind her. He mindlessly continued on the conversation before he could hang up.
"Right... I'd appreciate you getting the information back to me as soon as possible. Thanks."
He hung up quickly and made his way out of the conference room to meet up with the two omegas.
"What happened?" Dean asked, looking back between Amara's murderous look while Cas had a terrified look. He immediately opened his arms that were filled with the scared omega.
"I'm going to kill them," Amara muttered, walking past and into Singer's office.
"What was that about?"Dean asked into his omega's hair, trying to calm him down with his scent.
"Amara came over. Took me to the doctor. They told me..."
"What did they tell you?"
"Someone tampered with my heat suppressants," Cas said.
"How does someone tamper with medication anyway? Aren't heat suppressants solid?"
"Only for the lower doses. That dose that I had was a powder in a capsule. The nurse noticed that the capsule wasn't closed properly. Someone filled it with something else."
Dean gripped Cas stronger. "What was in it? Is it why you've been sick?
"They don't know. The nurse thought it might have been cough syrup. It might have been harmless..."
"But?"
"But... it would have made my heat suppressants null. I have not been taking them for two months."
A light bulb instantly went off in Dean's head as to why Castiel wasn't so scared. "The heat you went into last month. You think your parents had something to do with that. Is that why Amara's on a rampage?"
Dean felt the omega nod against him and take in a few deep breaths. "She is trying to get all the info the doctor's found here. I have to give permission. With it being my medical history. I just want this to be over."
"I know, babe, I know," Dean soothed. "We have to take this nice and slow so they'll never see the light of day again. We're going as fast we can. This other element may add another aspect to everything that we will need to connect with them again. It's already an intensive process, but we're almost there.
"We have all the information from your home state of Utah. Even if we can't get all of them on all the crap they've done, they won't be getting out. I never would have thought about the heat suppressants, though. In school, we did learn that stress can... weird things out, and you've been really stressed all this time. How did they know to look at the suppressants?"
"Again, with the dose, I am on, that would have been unlikely. But before we went to the doctor... Amara... gave me a test to take."
"What kind of test do you take before you go to the docs?" Dean asked, racking his head. Slowly, the terrifying smell being emitted from the omega started to turn into something much more pleasant. After, Cas pushed back from Dean's and reached for the alpha's hands.
"Well, she had me take a pregnancy test, and it came out positive. So, we went to the doctor, where she confirmed it."
"So you're pregnant?" Dean asked dumbly from the shock. From the wide grin his omega have him, we smiled in return. "We're having a pup."
Cas gave him an enormous grin and started shaking from the excess energy he was yet to share with anyone. Dean took a step closer, bringing his hands around Cas's face, and quickly pulled the omega into a kiss. He didn't know how long he was standing there, embracing the love of his life and the soul they created together when they were interrupted by loud coughing. They turned toward the noise and saw Lucifer and Benny standing there.
"You know, I come to work so that I don't have to see you molesting my brother," Lucifer casually said, as if it wasn't a big deal, even though one could see annoyance simmering under the surface,
"We were wondering where you went, especially since the girls are out getting lunch today," Benny admitted.
"One, Charlie and Donna would kill you if they heard you say that they're girls," Dean started. "Two, Cas found out he's pregnant."
"Congratulations, Brotha," Benny said, walking closer to the two, slapping Dean on the back. "You know, Andrea probably still has all the books somewhere when she was having the little one. I'll see if she'll let you have them."
"Thank you, Detective Lafitte," Cas said.
"Please, just call me Benny."
"No need for him to get a big head about it," Dean slyly said, earning a punch in the arm from the other alpha.
"Cassie," Lucifer calmly said. "Is this true?"
"Yes, it is," Cas affirmed.
"And this is what you want?"
"I've always wanted pups. You know this."
"Then I'm really happy for you," Lucifer says as we walked over and brought his little brother into a tight embrace. In a stage whisper, Lucifer said, "if he does anything, I'll be there to kill him."
Cas playfully pushed his brother away from him before attaching himself to the Alpha's arm. "Stop pretending you don't like each other. I know the two of you go out and get drinks so many times."
"Also, what's with everyone threatening to kill me?" Dean asked with exasperation.
"What else do you think we have to do?" they heard Amara's voice coming from behind them. They turned and saw a much calmer expression on her face. "Be nice to you? That's not any fun."
Singer was following up close to her, standing beside her as she stopped. "Well, finally got this one off the warpath. You're going to have a lot of work on your hands."
"How so?" Benny asked.
Amara turned to Castiel, raising an eyebrow in question. "They know," Cas assured her.
"We found out that Castiel's medication was tampered with," Amara said with a professional tone. "Thus, rendering his heat suppressants completely useless. This would have been two months ago when he last got his medication filled. Once you stop taking heat suppressants, it takes about a month for your body to reregulate your cycle. Two days before Cas went heat, there was the attempted kidnapping attempt. For this reason, I only have reason to believe that the Novaks were somehow connected in the tampering."
"We haven't found any links to any pharmaceuticals," Lucifer admitted.
"It might not be pharmaceuticals itself. It could use be someone, maybe those two idiots, who know a person. I don't know how many degrees of freedom we might be dealing with. Ask and see if they'll flip. If they do, that's one degree closer to closing this case. For all we know, they were hired, and no nothing, but it's something."
"If they do work for the Novaks, they're not going to flip that easily," Dean said.
Amara stood there for a bit, thinking it over. "I'm not okay with offering them immunity. That's just not going to happen."
"As far as we know, they had nothing to do with the murders, just the kidnapping," Bobby noted. "But if we can prove the link, they could be implicated as accomplices as providing the victims."
Amara immediately understood what the older beta was saying. "Prove the link before you go and talk to them. Try to get them to talk. If they don't, make the deal that murder is off the table."
"And if we don't?" Benny asked.
"You will. I know it," Amara said confidently.
"You shouldn't be too confident," Bobby told her. "That will just get you into trouble."
"I know everything is connected. I just don't have the physical or digital evidence to prove it. Too bad the modern justice system requires proof, or I would already have these bastards off the street. I've worked too hard and for too long not to see them locked up. You have to find something. If not..."
Amara broke off, looking out into the distance. "You have to find something. Especially with the end in sight."
She turned around and walked back to Singer's office, closing the door behind her.
"What was that about?" Lucifer asked.
Bobby sighed. "It's hard having the insight that someone is doing something yet have everything else say you're wrong. Since she started this case, she would get these visions about the activities. It's been tearing her up inside, not having anything to show for it. That's honestly why she lives in the middle of nowhere instead of a town with an actual FBI field office. She doesn't want anyone to see her like that. She's good enough at her job, and her bosses know of her abilities, so they let it slide. Was it anyone else..."
"How do you know all this, Chief?" Dean asked. A fatherly look of concern was covering his face, and he thought about the young omega.
"I thought you would have figured it out already," Bobby chuckled. "With every great omega, there's a beta that's there. That's been the truth with everyone in history."
He turned on his heel and walked back to his office. The four men stood there, staring at where the two had left the room, no knowing what to say. In the silence, they could hear the elevator ding as the doors opened up. Charlie and Donna had come in, carrying large piles of food and drink. As they walked closer, the two noticed the tense quiet that surrounded the men.
"Oh, hey Cas," Charlie greeted. "I didn't know that you were going to be here. We could have grabbed you something."
"Cas!" Amara yelled from the office over to the large group. She indicated for him to come over. Cas kissed Dean on the cheek before walking toward her.
Once out of earshot, Donna turned back to the three men. "What happened while we were gone?"
"We'll explain it to you," Dean sighed, indicating for all of them to go back into the conference room.
