Chapter 3. Joules for Fools.

I have no hero costume. My suit was meant to fill that role but since I got it removed I have to resort to wearing their physical education uniform. Which I don't mind wearing. Blue, red, and white with a huge UA on the front with my sleeves.

I smile and roll my sleeves up. Everyone wearing their costumes like Kirishima wearing a shirtless sleeved costume and torn sash with thick boots. Kaminari with his jacket and sunglasses with an odd headset.

Midoriya with his homemade green suit and Uraraka with her suit being too tight for her. Everyone seems to stare and Bakugo barks out.

"Ey, Kyukaze! You poor or something? Ain't no way you're poor!" he yells," Where's your costume?!"

I won't answer. Mostly because I am still unintimidated by him.

"Young Kyukaze's suit malfunctioned, making it impossible for him to use without causing him danger. So for now his uniform will have to do!" All Might cut in. I nod and join the others. They all kind of watch me.

So I decided to give them a show. My scars show on my skin, being more like cracks. My lightning crackles in my hands. Not painful or strange. Just tingly. My azure eyes shine and the stiff warmth of the wind makes my hair billow.

I smiled a little. The sky darkens a little, and I close my eyes, raising my hand and hearing the thunder rumble, the smell of ozone and then… I feel the lightning hit my hand, extending and bending into a javelin.

I grin, 'I can't believe I still have control over Lightning. I'm not entirely useless! Haha!' I twirl the lightning javelin a little. It fades but my hand still lances with energy. All Might clears his throat.

"Alright! Time for the teams!" he calls. I perk up and my sparks crackle and shine. He dunks his hands into two boxes. I wait with bated breath, my eyes on the building.

"Team E is Young Kyukaze and Young Yaoyorozu!" he announces. And my heart falls into my butt. I didn't realize that I would be working with her. Not that there was anything wrong with it. Momo walks over to me, smiling calmly enough.

She's wearing a carmine leotard that shows a lot of skin. With a dictionary on her waist with two big utility belts. I look away with heat growing on my cheeks, making sure my rubber gloves are on properly. I can't be shocking Momo with my quirk.

Momo and I head out to the building, the other team inside. She looks at my shining blue eyes. Her eyebrows furrow just a little. She's thinking. I smile, trying not to stare into her eyes too much.

"Tell me, Kyukaze, what's the nature of your quirk now that your suit is gone?" she asks.

"Oh! Uhn… well… I can charge myself with lightning from clouds I summon and vaguely guide it, and do that cool Thor thing from the third movie but it damages my body," I explain, "I can also summon wind and rain and even tornadoes if I really try!"

Momo stares, a little bit in shock, another bit in interest. She smiles.

"So… we can use that to our advantage depending on who we're facing…"

"Yeah. Electricity is bad for everyone regardless of quirk," I say, "Also… what can you do?"

"I can create objects with my fat cells, also I need to know the chemical makeup of the objects,"

"Gotcha…" I nod, "A handy quirk. My brother would have liked it."

"Oh, is he dead?"

"No, just insane."

Momo snickers, then giggles. I didn't know if my deadpan humor was the thing that made her giggle but okay. I try to whip up a wind strong enough to get me to see who we're up against but all I can do is just barely levitate.

Momo just focuses and out of her arm comes a thermal camera. I watch her turn it on as she scans the inside from out here. She looks at me. I didn't realize she could do something so complicated, but she had it in her book.

"Todoroki and Shoji." She says. I nod and creep to the door, my gloves coming off but she holds me back a little. Momo grabs my wrist.

"Keep those on unless there's a build-up of ice." She says.

"Yeah. Busting the ice with my lightning is a good idea." I agreed. She nods and I slowly edge towards the door. Not throwing it open, but creeping through the building. Trying to sneak myself in wasn't too hard, with Momo sneaking next to me.

It's a little harder. Mostly because she kept holding onto my wrist to signal me to zap something. That's when Shoji, the massive six-foot two multi-armed guy came crashing through the wall, making me grab her and shield her with my body.

Shoji looms over us, and Momo tosses a matryoshka doll, with it bursting apart to flash into his eyes. I take off, carrying her with me. Skidding to a halt, I set her down.

"Hahh… haah.." I breathe hard, "Whew!" I look down at her, "You okay?" She stares at me with a blush on her face. Almost in awe mixed with surprise.

"Uhm… yes." She says. "Can you let me down?"

"Oh. Sure." I let her down and she sees a small gash on my arm. Momo looks at it and gets some bandaids and ointment.

"Here." She cleans it, sticking it on. Momo sighs and looks at me, "Try not to get hurt too badly." I smile and nod.

"Got it,"

I spark a little, a rush of cold air hits us and I corkscrew through the advancing ice, my gloves coming off as I run to the other side, lightning sparking from my hands. Momo had a shield and metal bar, holding back Shoji as I chased Todoroki down with lightning flying.

He blocks off my lightning with ice and walks close to me, his gray and blue eyes meeting my azure bolts of light blue. I look at his red and white hair. A quirk marriage product… he advances with more ice walls, but I burst them to fractals with a large electrical pulse.

My arms begin to feel numb as I lash him with a kick, sending him back a few feet. Despite appearances, Mother and I were quite strong. Todoroki rises, his ice coming out again but with a sweep of my hand I blast them to shards. The building shakes harshly, my ears crack from the pressure.

The shards stab into me, sending me slamming into the wall. The wall cracks and I feel the cold ress of ice on my body. Within me the lightning still crackles, still having enough juice in me to at least stun him enough to get me to the bomb without going out myself.

I feel a blast tear from my hands, I rise above the ice on the wind, my uniform tearing, my eyes burning into his.

"Are you from a quirk marriage too?" he asks.

"If I knew that, my parents would still be in my life." I answer, "But that's none of your concern," I fly right for him, my hand out, sending a jolt that would stun him enough for me to rush to the bomb.

He redirects it at the last second, but I'm already flying towards it, "Bye~!" I coo, flying by the ice he sends after me, then he slows down. I close in and deck him with a heavy kick to the stomach.

He looks at me with a blank expression, "You fought well, Todoroki. Next time…" I playfully tap him on the forehead, "Don't. Hold. Back!"

He scoffs and I twirl to the floor with a big grin on my face. No pain this time, only a fight well fought! Momo comes in, a little sweaty, her shield dented and her bar long gone. She looks at me, her ponytail all messy.

"Don't… do that again…"

"What? It's only fair. I mean… I'm sorry, look, next time we team up we stick together, okay?" I ask. She nods and smiles.

"Thank you for being so agreeable." she says. I nod and feel a little heat on my cheeks. She's really cute. Like… the elegant kind of cute. Even if she's all weird from the fighting. We won and she and I walked out together. My arms feel numb.

At the end of the day I'm caked in sweat and I don't feel so good. My body feels heavy, my limbs feel numb, and all I wanna do is sleep. I drag myself over to the lot to wait for my mother, but then I get a text from her.

Sorry Arashi! Work is running a little long… I'll be home late.

I groan and just barely settle down, my back aches, my legs ache. Every move is shit. Momo took me home today, which is nice of her. I didn't have much to talk about though. So most of it was sent in awkward silence.

I lay on my bed, my hair out and fanning below me. I think back to Todoroki's question.

"Are you from a quirk marriage too?"

I never asked my brother that question, all he told me was that Mother was forced to let the other citizens drive us out. Then… we met Chimera first. He became like my father figure with my brother. They taught me how to fight and survive… but my very first crush came when Slice arrived.

She understood me a lot. Always making sure I had enough. It's little wonder why I had crushed on her so hard. Her long red hair and stunning green eyes with her powerful quirk. But she always liked Inazuma.

My brother somewhat returned her feelings. But ever since I broke away and was taken into the system she never forgave him for what he did. I still feel… bad. I mean all of it just kind of sucked.

I look at my hand, sparking gently. This society is scared of guys like me and my brother. Guys naturally born with strength rivaling All Might. No matter what we do or try to change. They never give us a chance.

All they do is fear us. I curl into a ball, my mind making me think of Mei and Momo and how they helped me without regard for my quirk. The commission framed me as a monster. Caring little for what I could be as a hero. Not caring that the suit hurt and had a killswitch. Only caring if I died.

My mother cares for me, but even then she can't be around forever. I know that. So… now all I have to do is figure out how to get to my ideal future. I feel my eyes growing heavy so I pulled the bedsheets over me.

I'll find out the answer eventually.
