Prologue
Dallas was known among his fellows for his compulsive dentist visits. Once a month, Dallas would pay a visit to a dentist in the area, getting his teeth checked, cleaned, and any other procedures he may need. He didn't enjoy going to the dentist. Infact, he hated it. But this was a procedure he had to do, or he would be faced with undue stress, something he did not need as a career criminal. Yes, Dallas was a criminal, and a damn good one at that. He was very well known, so well known, infact, he was the FBI's number one target. Why was this the case? Well, it was simple, Dallas was a member of the PAYDAY Gang. They were an infamous bunch, that was for certain. From small jewelry hits, to large scale, elaborate heists, they had done it all. Infact, just recently, a new man joined their crew, a man by the name of John Wick, an old Marine Corps friend of Chains, another crew member and close friend of Dallas. But today, he didn't care about the crew, he just wanted to get his appointment over with. In the lobby were two other people, a woman scrolling on her phone, and a uniformed police officer reading a gun magazine. Dallas realized he was a bit screwed if the cop looked up, being that he was in his usual heist garb, minus the body armor and mask. Dallas sighed just before the cop looked up.
"You look familiar, do I know you?" the cop asked. Shit, this was not what he needed.
"I don't think so." Dallas responded, avoiding the cop's gaze.
"Yeah, I think I do, did you go to Texas A&M?" The cop asked.
"No." Dallas answered, adding a bluff immediately after. "I went to UVA."
"Ah sorry, you just look like an old friend of mine." the cop stated, looking back at his phone.
"Mr. Steele?" a nurse called out, using Dallas' alias. Dallas got up to go to the office, the cop suddenly stopping him.
"This yours?" the cop asked, showing him a wallet. Dallas took a look at it. As tempting as it was, it wouldn't be right to take this random wallet. Dallas was a criminal, but he had standards.
"No." Dallas stated. The cop nodded and sat back down. Dallas entered the operating room, where the dentist was preparing his tools. Alarm bells immediately began ringing in his head when he realized it wasn't his usual dentist.
"Where's Doctor Anderson?" Dallas asked inquisitively.
"Vacation,'' the nurse, who Dallas was at least somewhat familiar with, answered. "He'll be back in a month or so." Dallas nodded, taking his jacket off and sitting in the dental chair. The new doctor stepped into the room, already masked, his expression blank as a paper.
"Good afternoon." The Dentist stated. His voice was uniform, cold, and unnerving, not unlike Doctor Anderson but at least Anderson had personality. "Just in for a check up Mr. Steele?"
"Yes." Dallas confirmed. "Just a checkup and any procedures necessary."
"I understand." The Dentist responded, checking Dallas mouth with a mirror. "What do you work in?"
"Financial transfers." Dallas responded, using the same cover he used on anyone else. It wasn't the truth, but it wasn't a lie either, and everyone always believed it.
"Must be a profitable year for you, Payday crew and all. Just a cavity to fill." The Dentist responded, grabbing a needle.
"No needles." Dallas stated. "I can push through the pain. And yes, I've had a good year helping insurance companies manage transfers."
"Did you hear about that Harvest and Trustee that got robbed a while back?" The Dentist asked as he began cleaning Dallas' teeth. "Got hit a while back, PAYDAY crew, supposedly. Four heavily armed men strolled in, drilled open the vault, and set the cash inside on fire. One of them got arrested though, a man by the name of James Hoxworth. Does that ring a bell, Dallas?" Shit, he knew. Dallas got out of the chair, ready to flee, but the nurse stopped him.
"Please stay seated, Olga here is not very good to be around when she's angry, should kill you in an instant, so please listen to what I have to say." The Dentist stated, cleaning Dallas's teeth. "I want your crew to help me with some important matters. Have you heard of the Benevolent Bank?"
"Every crew that hit that place was either killed on scene or arrested." Dallas stated. "You want us to hit it?"
"Consider it a test." The Dentist explained. "If you can rob that, you can help James."
"You can help us get Hoxton out of jail?" Dallas wondered.
"Yes, though I'll need you to take out someone first, The Commissar." The Dentist answered. "He's got the DA under his thumb, you'll see why we need him. You strike me as a history buff, do you know the colorful history of the Chinese Blue Diamond?"
"Heard it's cursed, gives lots of power but guarantees a violent death to whoever carries it." Dallas answered.
"It will be in the McKendrick museum soon, I need it." The Dentist explained. "I know someone who can help out with the Diamond, she'll be in the states soon. As for the last job, do you like Vegas?"
"I don't gamble." Dallas responded.
"There's more to Vegas than Roulette and Craps, Dallas, it's a city rich in history." The Dentist stated, finishing the procedure. "How's the tooth?"
"It's good." Dallas stated. "But what do you want?"
"All I want is your crew, Dallas." The Dentist stated, taking his mask off. "I too, need my PAYDAY."
A/N: I'm glad to have this finally out. Welcome to this fic, It's just a novelization, I guess, of the second game from The Dentist arc onward. That's it, no OC's, no AU elements, just a love letter to my favorite reanimated game. Until next time, hope you enjoy, and have a great day!
