I turned on my side in the bed and sighed heavily. I was super deep in thought. Go to bed, I ordered myself. I sighed again and this time a jealous twinge flew through me. I knew after that insane job, my teammates were passed out cold in their own rooms without a torrent of self doubt and insecurities plaguing their thoughts. I was sore and exhausted but I just couldn't sleep.
Natsu and I haven't really talked about what happened in my apartment a few nights ago. A part of me was glad because I didn't know what to say. But another part of me was confused on how that happened. We've been playing around and joking with each other like normal but the subtle changes in our dynamic were... But what about Lisanna? I know he and her are planning on going to the fair together when we return to Magnolia. Should I consider what happened between Natsu and I a one time thing or is he trying to sleep with the two of us? She has feelings for him, just as I do. I sighed again. My head was starting to hurt.
"Lisanna, Truth or Dare!" Cana slurred as she reached for her fifth, or sixth bottle of beer. Erza decided that we girls need to spend more time together so here we are at Fairy Hills having a sleepover.
Mira and Levy were giggling at something Juvia had said about Gray. I smiled at my friends loving the fact they were enjoying themselves. I turned to Lisanna to hear her response.
"Truth" Lisanna responds timidly.
Cana downed her beer and asked, "Are you still in love with Natsu?"
A record practically scratches and everyone turns to look at her. I blinked because I hadn't known that there were feelings involved. Natsu told me they were friends and she died. He didn't really like talking about her. Since I understood what it was like to not want to talk about someone who's just not there anymore, I never asked.
"Oh yeah! You too always said you'd get married!" Erza teased.
My heart constricted painfully. I definitely hadn't known that. My feelings for Natsu were fairly new but I figured that maybe with time, I'd get brave enough to tell him. The way he protects me and looks after me, he has to feel the same. Right? Anticipation filled my bones as we all waited for her response.
Lisanna took a sip of her wine, blushed and answered, "I never stopped." She continues, completely unaware that her words Pierce my heart like rusty daggers. "He was so protective when we were younger. Natsu always looked after me and Happy too after he was hatched. It was like Happy was our baby. I definitely want to pursue a more…" she stops and turns bright red.
"You wanna bone him and carry little Natsu babies!" Cana cackled.
Lisanna tensed as she shushed Cana. Erza and Wendy also turn bright red at Cana's statement. Mira sheepishly laughs and glances at me.
My heart is aching so much. He's just like that, huh? I think to myself. I force down my hurt and look towards Lisanna.
"Why don't you be his partner?" I offer. Everyone turns to look at me, shocked. "I haven't been on my own since I started Fairy Tail. Natsu feels that he needs to look after me since he is the one who brought me here." She smiled fondly and said, "That's just how he is." My resolve steeled as I wanted the best for my friend and my new friend. "Yeah. I feel like I can be on my own. I've been working with Leo on some new training techniques."
Lisanna's eyes widened and brightened as she considered my words. Levy piped up, " shouldn't you ask Natsu about this?"
"Yeah, he is very protective of you Lucy. He might not be happy about this." Wendy added.
"I'm sure he will be elated." I smile at them. "He's protective of everyone." I say, a little unsure if the bitterness I felt in my heart at that statement reared its ugly head. Judging by the dreamy look on Lisanna's face, I don't think it did.
A loud snore jumped me out of my head as I turned to look at Cana who was passed out cold.
"Alright everyone. That's our cue to turn in for the evening." Erza's stern voice belted out. We all laid down in our sleeping bags.
That was the reason I pulled away from Natsu. Now I am filled with confusion. I turned on my back and gazed at the ceiling. Then I heard the click of the hotel door and I froze.
"Luce?" A voice I instantly recognized filled the small room. I sat up and looked at Natsu.
"Are you ok?" I ask him. He fought one of the bandits that was impervious to fire. Natsu had to fight him without his magic and it was pretty brutal. Natsu still had a black eye and bruised ribs that Wendy couldn't heal.
"I heard you tossing and turning so I figured I would check on you." He responded softly. My heart soared at his answer and I smiled at him. I shifted over and patted next to me. His face lit up like Christmas as he scrambled next to me. He laid down on his side and faced me, so I do too. He slid closer to me, and tangled our legs together. I blushed but didn't say anything. He's face was about an inch from mine and I could smell the cinnamon toothpaste I introduced him to when we first met. I smile shyly at him as I put my hand on his cheek, right underneath his battered eye. He put his hand on my shoulder and moved his thumb back and forth gently. The action sent butterflies in my stomach.
"You should be sleeping." I say sternly to him. "That guy got you pretty good."
"Pfffft!" He snorted. " I had things under control." He said arrogantly.
He then ran his hand down my arm and rested his hand on my waist still caressing me with his thumb. "You should be sleeping too, Luce." He said.
"I know but I couldn't get to sleep. I had a lot of things on my mind." I remembered just what I was thinking about and my face grew super hot.
"Are you thinking about…" he blushed. I blushed too as I felt.. him pulse on my thigh. I nodded slowly even though it wasn't the entire truth.
"Do..do you regret it?" He asked me. His tone suggested he wasn't entirely sure what my answer would be and it made him nervous.
"No. Do you?" The way he exhaled told me he definitely didn't and I moved my hand from his face to his chest.
His eyes fluttered closed as he breathed his answer. "Never, Luce. Having you come apart around me was the most magical thing I've ever experienced."
I didn't want to get my hopes up that it was only me he wanted but the way he was gazing at me made me lean in and kiss him gently. I had planned to keep the kids chaste but he deepened the kiss the moment our lips met. He hissed in pain as my hand pushed on his bruised rib. I pulled back and whispered to him, " we should get some sleep."
He leaned toward me and kissed me gently before pulling back. "Goodnight Luce." He closed his eyes and out he went. My eyelids grew heavy as I thought about this moment. I fell asleep before I could overthink it.
I felt the heat of the sun settle across my face. I picked this room because it received the first morning light. My teammates don't appreciate the sun the way I do so I don't mind. Since it's a star, first light makes the magic in me tingle pleasantly. I moaned softly.

I turned to him. "Sorry, I don't mean to wake you." I sheepishly responded.
He looked so much better. The dark purple around his eye was lighter. But judging by the feel of the sun it was probably going to be about an hour before the others rise.
He shuffled next to me and pushed me so I was gently on my back. The combination of that action and the tingle that was very much still active excited my body and I moaned a little louder.
