I sigh as I read the letter for the… tenth…. Eleventh time. I sit it on my desk as I sigh again. I can't believe it's been seven years. How was this possible? I guess anything is possible. I steeled myself to look toward my guildmates, expecting hate and animosity, but all I was was admiration and happiness.
I stood up to lay on my bed as my back was starting to hurt, when a loud knock on my door made me jump. I groaned and was tempted to ignore it, but ultimately decided against it. I opened the door to Natsu and Happy holding their backpacks, looking crestfallen.
"Did our time on the island grant you boys manners?" I tease. Natsu's lip quirks up before dropping again. Now I'm worried, "What's the matter?"
"Our house was looted and destroyed." Happy whined, near tears.
"We're kinda homeless now." Natsu mumbled, eyes glaring at the ground. My heart lurched in sympathy as I grabbed his hand with mine to pull him and Happy inside.
