"I'm scared Lucy!" He interrupted, looking completely panicked.
The rage I was feeling evaporated to an ice cold chill. "What?"
He deflated and fell to my feet, pressing his face into my belly.
"What if I'm a monster, a danger to you and you fear me or pull away from me because you don't want me anymore? I couldn't bear it if I lost you again." He mumbled against me.
" Lose me? Natsu, what... you won't lose me." I reaffirm, placing my hands on his shoulders but he won't look at me.
"When you separated yourself from me, I..." He teared up, so I got on my knees to his level.
"We are partners, Natsu. In every sense of the word." I say as he looks at me, finally. "I love you, Natsu Dragneel. I'm very sorry I hurt you when I pulled away but I promise you that I will protect you and your heart like you protect me and mine."
He leans forward to capture my lips with his. I deepened the kiss and licked at him, begging to play. He wanted to die before he lost that part of himself completely. He enlisted me to train you to become strong enough to defeat him and the other dragon slayers were to defeat the apocalypse dragon, Acnologia."
" How did the war with Acnologia start?" I asked, "Why do Zeref and Achnologia hate each other so much?"
" Due to Zeref's curse, he killed Acnologia's mate, which caused the half dragon to turn off his humanity. Acnologia decided that humanity needed to die for Zeref, since he couldn't kill him. Zeref is trying to protect humanity while simultaneously avoiding it. They both are quite mad." Igneel answered, looking at me and Natsu.
"How did you wind up being pulled through time?" I asked, looking at the other dragons. Grandeeney was curled up with Wendy, as Gardenia was explaining something I couldn't hear. Gajeel was head butting with Metalicana in his full body metal form as Lily laughed in amusement with Carla. Happy was crying, probably because Carly wasn't paying attention to him.
"He said something happened to the book of END so he needed us to face Acnologia for humanity. Unfortunately, he couldn't control the other dragons who are more blood thirsty so he recruited me, promising to return me to Natsu when the dragons complete their mission." Igneel explains looking at the other two dragons who are flying in the sky. "We Have no home in a world that hunts dragons."
" I have a solution to that." I say jumping to my feet. " Gardenia, can you make a landscape comfortable enough for all of you to live in comfortably?"
"If the space is large enough, yes I can." She responds, swinging her tail.
" Welcome to your new home. I hope this will suffice to ensure maximum comfort." Dad says as he looks between the massive dragons, the land and me.
"I bet you didn't think you'd ever host dragons, huh pops?" Natsu says laughing with Gajeel.
"Pops?" Dad says gazing at Natsu.
I shake my head behind dad, hoping that Natsu would catch my message but as usual, he doesn't. "Since you're gonna be a grandpa and all."
Dad's head swivels to me and his eyes glued to my belly. My face grows hot as I feel the familiar heat that accompanies the rainbows the twins produce.
"Fascinating." Grandeeney says circling me slowly which made my embarrassment worse.
"I love when that happens." Natsu wrapped his arms around my waist and nuzzled my neck affectionately.
I smiled as I glanced at dad. "Natsu is their father."
Dad choked on his spit, "their?!"
I place my hands on my belly. "I'm nine weeks pregnant with twins who will inherit the power of the phoenix."
Igneel lowered himself to our level and inhaled deeply. "Phoenix magic you say?"
I turned to him, "Yes. I'm contracted to a supreme deity and he can feel the magic because it's a combination of his magic and his brother's, a Primordial God, Chaos."
" Hmm… interesting… I look forward to the birth of these children, son." Igneel said, then laughed as he turned to Dad, " I guess we're in-laws."
My dad looked at Igneel, gazed at Natsu and settled his eyes on me, who was still glowing.
"Your mother glowed when she was pregnant with you." He paused before adding, "but not quite like that."
"Um, excuse me." Gardenia says gaining our attention. I have completed my work. Thank you for our home." She nuzzles my dad as he hesitantly reaches out to place his hand on her head.
" I'm happy to be a host." He says genuinely.
" We should return to Fairy Tail." Wendy says as she hugs Grandeeney. " I'll return for a visit soon."
" Of course, child. I look forward to it" She says, Nuzzling the blunette.
" Bring a woman the next time you return!" Metalicana huffed at Gajeel. " You are too serious!"
Wendy, Carla, Gajeel, Lily Happy and Natsu start walking toward the train station. Dad grabs my hand, "If you need help for anything, please ask. I'm trying to do better… to be better."
I smile widely as I kiss his forehead. " I know and I appreciate it, Dad. Thank you and I'm sorry I didn't consider you were hurting just like I was after mom died."
" Come on Lucy! I'm starving!" Natsu whined. I waved goodbye before running to catch my friends. At least it's not a goodbye forever, it's a goodbye for now.
We walked to Fairy Tail together joking and Laughing with Gajeel brooding behind us when he, Natsu and Wendy froze.
"Lucy, stay here!" Natsu says as Wendy and Gajeel sprint toward the guild. What? Why? What's going on. I run after them and freeze in horror. The guild was destroyed. I saw Wendy and Gajeel shifting through the rubble. I tried to help but Natsu wrapped his arms around my waist. "We will handle it but please stop Lucy!"
"No! Where are our guildmates?! What's going on?!" I scream, absolutely hysterical.
" No one's here. I smell explosives and blood but nobody's here." He says pulling me away from the wreckage. " Think about the babies, please get back." He begged. I relent and step back and watch in terror as Natsu, Wendy and Gajeel sniff around with Lily, Carla and Happy looking for clues.
Natsu spun around and his horrified, "Lucy!" Filled my ears before a sharp pain exploded on the side of my head causing everything to go dark.
