A/N: Hey guys, This is my first Last of us story so don't judge me too harshly if I get some things wrong, but I know enough of the lore to hopefully make a good story. I do not own any characters used in this story except from my OC Amelia.

Chapter 1: Jackson - Waking up

Amelia was slowly adjusting to her new life in Jackson and she was busy getting dressed when Jesse knocked on her door and said, "Yo Amy! You awake?" Amelia put her jacket on over her black tank top and pulled her blue jeans that were faded a little, before she then walked towards the door and opened it.

As she opened the door she saw Jesse leaning against the side of her house and she saw Ellie standing by the steps, before Jesse smiled at her and said, "I heard you had a pretty crazy night last night." Amelia looked at Jesse and replied,

"I...I don't wanna talk about it, I had a lot on my mind that night and I...said some things I didn't mean."

Ellie smiled at Amelia as she said, "C'mon, we have some assignments anyway." Amelia smiled back at Ellie and nodded her head and replied,

"Ok, just give me a sec to finish getting dressed."

Before Amelia then closed her door again as she leaned against the table next to it and put on her boots, she also tied up her long brown hair into a ponytail and grabbed her pistol and her shiv from the opposite table, before finally picking up her backpack and putting it over her shoulders and opened the door again and closed it behind her as she followed Jesse and Ellie down the path.

As they were walking Jesse tilted his head back at Amelia as he said, "So, how is Jackson treating you Amy?" Amelia smiled slightly and replied,

"It's not so bad I guess, it's better than living in Boston. I'm still getting used to living here though."

Ellie smiled as she said, "Yeah, I get it. It took me a little while to adjust to living here too. Last night was pretty crazy for both of us." before she then looked at Jesse as she asked, "Where's Maria?"

Jesse looked back at Ellie and replied, "She's inside this bar, heard she wanted to talk to the both of you about something." before they all eventually stopped by the bar Jesse mentioned and Jesse leaned against the wall and motioned for Ellie and Amelia to go inside as he smiled and said, "After you, ladies."

The bar…

Once Ellie and the others walked inside the bar, they saw a bunch of people standing around and drinking and as they walked through the crowd they heard Maria calling them over, "Ellie! Amelia! Over here." So both Ellie and Amelia walked over towards the bar counter where Maria was standing, before Maria smiled at them as she said, "I've had a word with Seth, and he said e would apologize."

Ellie rolled her eyes at Maria as she groaned, "I don't want to hear what that Bigot has to say." and Amelia let out a heavy sigh and said,

"I'll hear him out, but that doesn't mean I forgive him though."

Maria looked at both Ellie and Amelia as she said, "Could you both do this for me, please?" Both Ellie and Amelia groaned and replied,

"Fine."

Maria then smiled slightly as she said, "Thanks, I appreciate it." before she turned to Seth as she called out to him, "Seth, come over here please." Seth walked out from the back room with a couple of wrapped sandwiches and looked at both Ellie and Amelia and said,

"Look, I uh had a lot to drink last night and I umm said some things."

Ellie shrugged her shoulders at Seth as she replied, "Sure." meanwhile Amelia rolled her eyes at Seth and said,

"Cool."

Seth then placed the sandwiches on the counter and let out a sigh as he said to Ellie and Amelia, "I'm trying to say I'm sorry to you both, I uh I heard you were going out to do some patrols so I made you both some sandwiches. They're steak."

Maria could see that both Ellie and Amelia had enough of listening to Seth, so she grabbed the sandwiches and passed them to both of the girls as she looked at Seth and said, "Thank you, Seth." before she looked at both Ellie and Amelia as she added, "I appreciate you both doing that for me."

Jesse smirked at Ellie as he leaned on the counter as he said, "What's that?" Ellie shoved the wrapped sandwiches towards Jesse and replied,

"Bigot sandwiches."

Jesse smiled as he could smell what was inside the sandwiches as he said, "Smells good." Ellie looked at Jesse and scoffed,

"You can have them."

Jesse then perked a brow at Ellie as he said, "You sure?" Ellie nodded her head at Jesse and replied,

"Yeah."

Jesse then leaned over as he looked at Amelia as he asked, "Want me to have yours as well Amy?" Amelia shook her head at Jesse and replied,

"Nope, I'll suffer if these sandwiches taste awful."

Jesse shrugged his shoulders as he said, "Ok, suit yourself Amy." Before Maria turned to both Amelia and Ellie and smiled slightly and said to them,

"Come, let me walk you out."

Later…

After Maria and the others left the Bar, they walked down the path towards the stables as Maria said, "I need someone to check on Joel and Tommy. Those two haven't been back for some time." Jesse looked at Maria and replied,

"I was thinking about taking the Creek trails. I'll need someone to come with me though."

Maria continued walking as she said, "Ellie, you know the Creek trails?" Ellie shrugged her shoulders and shook her head and replied,

"Not really."

Then Maria looked back at Amelia as she said, "How about you Amelia, you know the Creek trails?"Amelia nodded her head slightly and replied,

"A little, I've done that route once or twice."

Maria smiled as she said, "Well, that solves that then. Amelia can take Ellie through the Creek trails." before she stopped by the gate leading towards the stables as she looked at Amelia and added, "Amelia, can I talk to you for a sec?"

Amelia nodded as she replied, "Sure." before she looked at Ellie as she smiled a little and added, "Go on ahead Ellie, I'll catch up. Maybe even give you some quality time with Dina." Ellie smiled back at Amelia as she walked through the gate with Jesse and replied,

"Dina kissed me, not the other way around. Maybe you're just jealous because you haven't gotten someone to kiss you yet."

Amelia then walked over to Maria as Maria smiled at her as she said, "How are you holding up? Can't magine this being easy for you after losing someone that you were close with. You know you can talk to me about anything that might be on your mind, right?" Amelia looked at Maria and replied,

"I know, I know. And I didn't mean what I said last night, I had a little too much to drink. But you're right, this hasn't been easy for me. But I feel like I'm settling in ok. I didn't have a choice about what I did to my sister, as I did what I had to for me to survive and I have to live with that fact."

Maria then nodded her head as she said, "I know, but if you ever need someone to talk to then you know where to find me or Tommy."

Amelia then walked through the gate and caught up to Ellie and Dina, who were busy throwing snowballs with the kids before she leaned against the fence and smiled as she said, "That's enough guys, we actually have some work to do." Both Ellie and Dina smiled at Amelia and replied,

"Alright, let's get to the stables before we are late."

As Amelia and the others made their way to the stables, Amelia looked at both Dina and Ellie as she said to them, "Look, about the things I said last night. I-" But Ellie cut her off and said,

"Don't worry about it, you were drunk. People say dumb and stupid stuff when they're drunk."

Dina also smiled at Amelia as she said, "Yeah Amy, Ellie's right. People usually say stuff they don't mean when they're drunk. We're cool." Amelia nodded her head at Ellie and Dina and replied,

"R-right, I guess I was worrying over nothing."

As the girls walked into the stables, the stable master smiled at them as he said, "Here you go girls." Amelia and the others each took the reins of the horses and continued walking towards the east gate, where Jesse met them and handed them each a long rifle.

Before Jesse then stood in front of everyone as he said, "Alright people, learn your routes. If you see anything that you can't handle, then come straight back. Be smart about it. Alright, let's move people.

Amelia and everyone then set out on their horses, going down the patrol routes they were assigned to. As the gates closed behind them.
