Danny had sat in a nearby desk chair waiting for his mother to finish their testing of Ember.
"What's the diagnosis?" the Fenton teen asked while Ember was lying back on the metal surface with some kind of light sweeping across her ghostly figure as she stared up at the ceiling; a little twitchy to say the least.
"Hm..." the mother in blue hummed checking out the screen before her which gave a much more in-depth look at what was inside the pop princess. "As far as I can tell, vitals appear to normal. For a ghost that is. No heartbeat per usual. Internal body temperature one hundred twenty-three?"
"Its supposed to be high," Ember explained. "If I get cold like December then I'll have reason to panic."
Maddie nodded at the information given before resuming.
"Ecto energy readings appears to be a little higher than Danny's usual output so I'll assume that's normal as well."
"What?" Danny blinked a little surprised. "She's stronger than me?"
"Without either of you undergoing any strenuous endeavors or heat of the moment activities, yes."
The musician smirked proudly turning her head in the halfa's direction and gloated, "Hear that? Naturally, I'm a force to be reckoned with."
Danny folded his arms and smiled.
"Yep. You're better when I'm not trying anything."
She glared in response to his implication and turned her head away.
Maddie continued from there.
"Ectoplasmic structure appears to be solid. Core vitality..."
The matriarch's brows furrowed staring at the screen.
"Mom?" Danny stood up sensing something was off.
Ember sat up and looked Maddie's way.
"What?"
Maddie frowned and said, "I'm sorry but your core vitality is low."
"Low?" Danny repeated now tense.
She nodded his way before looking at the ghost girl.
"And that's not the most troubling part. There's ice formed at the center of your core as well."
"Ice?" Ember blinked confused.
"I don't know if this is because of that ECTA ghost Danny said attacked you or something else but as it stands now, ice is occupying the inside of your core."
"You did say that you felt like you were being frozen on the inside when Vlad's minion had you," Danny pointed out.
"Yeah," acknowledged the pop princess placing a hand on her abdomen. "But I don't feel nothing now. Maybe it needs time to thaw out or something."
The teen boy turned to his mother again.
"What do you think?"
"I can't make a reasonable assessment at this point."
"In other words, you don't know if this will go away on its own or if it will jeopardize Ember's health."
She nodded.
"Here's to hoping towards the former," Ember said jumping onto her feet and stretching her back by caving it inwards with arms extended over head. "In the meantime, I'm heading out."
Danny moved close to her position; still concerned.
"You're gonna be alright?"
She turned his way.
"Relax babypop. Ghosts go through changes all the time. I know you saw Tech-nut with the mullet."
"Yeah, but that was a change in his appearance. Not the thing which is as important as a heart is for humans."
"I'll tell you what. If something seriously bad happens to me because of this, I'll come straight back here. Deal?"
Danny went silent. He could tell she was trying to get him off her back. But he also had to acknowledge that its her core and her decision at the end of the day. This was the best he could hope for at the moment.
"You promise you'll come straight back?"
"Musician's honor."
He inhaled and exhaled.
"Ok. Deal."
Ember's fiery hair began to swirl around her being.
"I'll catch you next time. We'll settle the score then."
With that she disappeared.
AN: Thank God for the weather changing.
