Desert predator
Last time on Prehistoric Park; Nigel managed to bring back one of the largest predatory dinosaurs that ever existed. He managed to bring back giganotosaurus, however as he did; he also managed to bring back a whole herd of argentinosaurs. Now Nigel has to figure out where to put these animals; before he goes back for more. Nigel has already found a paddock that is just right for the giganotosaurus, and he has an idea for where the argentinosaurs should go. But, first he wants to run the idea by Suzanne, and Bob.
That evening Nigel calls together a meeting inside his bungalow; to discuss the idea with the two of them.
"Now I have an idea of where to put the argentinosaurs. What if we introduce them; in an open area of course. What if we introduce them to our titanosaur herd? I mean they are almost related." Nigel explains.
"Hmm, that could work, but then we would have to build a bigger paddock for them. We would also have to figure out a way to get more food for them" Bob replies.
"I'm with you on this Nigel, I mean it is like you said they are the same species. It worked with Martha at first, but we'll have to be there in case there are some fights that might try to break out." Suzanne chimes in.
"Okay, so we are all in agreement to try this plan out? Then I'll see you guys in the morning" Nigel says as he gets up to go to bed.
The next morning the titanosaurs are led to the quarantine pen; where they will meet the argentinosaurs. Nigel is up in the observation tower with Suzanne in case anything is go wrong. Headkeeper Bob is leading the herd of titanosaurs towards the argentinosaurs; as they get closer Nigel orders the guard to raise the gate. The gate raises, and at the moment the leader of the argentinosaurs steps out to get a look at the titanosaurs. The leader of the titanosaurs is a little surprised to see another sauropod in the area, and begins to approach him.
The much bigger argentinosaur approaches cautiously. The lead titanosaur lets out a loud bellow; to warn the approaching sauropod not to get too close. The argentinosaur stops just a little bit; just to get a good look at the titanosaur. The two big sauropods have a good look at each other; it is then that the alpha titanosaur lets out a loud bellow allowing the argentinosaur to come closer. The alpha argentinosaur begins to get closer to the titanosaur, and as she does; she signals the rest of the herd.
Upon seeing this; Nigels gives the signal to open the gates to let both sauropods join together. As soon as the gate is lifted; the argentinosaurs begin to file into the paddock. Thus, the two groups of sauropods have become one.
"Yes! We have done it!" Nigel exclaims with excitement upon seeing the two sauropods together.
"Congratulations Nigel" Bob says shaking Nigel's hand. "Now all you need to do is figure out that problem with the rexes"
"Hey, that's right, and I might also go, and see what other species to collect" Nigel replies.
"Oh-no not another one" Bob says in a sigh.
"Oh, c'mon Bob you know this park needs to expand" Nigel replies jokingly.
Nigel then heads up to his bungalow; to do some research on tyrannosaurs. He pulls a book on tyrannosaurus species, and begins to look at the mates. After looking, and skimming through the book; Nigel knows just what to do.
"So, I'm going to have to go back into the cretaceous period, and find a rex that is around Terrance's age. Then keep those two in a separate paddock, until the babies hatch. I would also have to do the same thing with Matilda. Boy, do I have my work cut out for me today" Nigel says to the camera.
At this point Nigel begins to head towards the portal in his jeep. Nigel then presses the button that allows the portal to come open; with a whoosh he is through the portal. That is when he finds that he is right where he should be; in the middle of the forest of the cretaceous. Nigel steps out of his jeep; to have a look around. He then sees some movement in the forest nearby. Nigel pulls his binoculars out to have a better look.
As he trying to look at whatever the movement is; that is when he realizes the kind of forest, he is in. Nigel realizes that the forest he is in; is one that is more closer to desert terrain. As he can tell by the different conifers that are growing around him; that is when he sees the ankylosaur like animal lumbering towards him. Nigel moves just a little bit closer; to get a look at the animal. It is then he sees that the animal is not a dinosaur at all, but a giant lizard.
"Wow! Would you take a look at this? This is a member of the mammal like reptiles called scutosaurus. However, despite the name it is not a true dinosaur. Instead, this reptile is like the dimetrodon we have back at the park. It is a mammal like reptile, and as I remember this reptile lived way before T-rex; which means we are a long way off to finding Terrance, and Matilda a mate." Nigel explains.
Nigel admires the scutosaurus some more, and that is when he gets an idea. As he is observing the reptile; he pulls out the pods for the portal, and begins to set them up. Still observing the scutosaurus; Nigel manages to pull up some conifers, and waves them in front of the scutosaurus. The scutosaurus looks at Nigel with confusion, but then notices the plants he is holding. The scutosaurus lets out a low bellow, and begins to run towards Nigel.
Realizing that the scutosaurus is interested in the plants; Nigel begins to make a run towards the portal. On the other side of the portal; Nigel is still running which confuses Bob. That is until Bob sees what Nigel is running from; the scutosaurus continues to chase Nigel all the way towards the temporary pen. Nigel manages to get up on the ladder; before the scutosaurus can ram into him. After making it to the top of the platform; Nigel tosses the scutosaurus the plants.
At that moment Bob comes to see what is going on, and is surprised when he sees what he brought back.
"Well, that look like nothing like a t-rex; what the heck are we going to do with this thing?" Bob asks upon seeing the scutosaurus.
"I think the same thing that we always do; we find the perfect enclosure for it. This time I think I know the perfect place for it." Nigel replies.
Near a swamp part of the park; after the enclosure gets through being built. The scutosaurus gets released, and it appears to like its new home. Once it is in the enclosure it starts to eat some of the plants that are in the area. After seeing this; Nigel knows what he must do next. To which he begins to head back to the Permian era.
Upon returning Nigel finds that he is still in the desert area. Nigel begins to take his jeep further out into the desert; as he climbs over one dune he stops, and pulls out a pair of binoculars. Nigel begins to scans the horizon; to see if he can find what he is looking for. He doesn't see it; until he hears a loud bellowing roar echoing throughout the desert. Hearing this; Nigel turns his binoculars towards where the sound came from; that is when he sees it.
Emerging from the bushes is a truly terrifying creature; one that walks on four legs, and has sabre tooth like teeth. The animal is all covered in scales, and it is almost built like a lion. The animal tilts its head up; to get a whiff around the area. The animal begins to get into a crouched position; as it begins to charge towards Nigel's jeep. Seeing the animal about to charge; Nigel thinks fast, and gets the jeep rolling up to 70mph.
The creature manages to keep pace with Nigel's jeep, but after a while it decides that it can't. Seeing that the animal is way back there; Nigel begins to slow to a stop. When he fully stops; Nigel again pulls out his binoculars to get a good look at that predator.
"That is the one we are here for; this is the alpha predator known as gorgonopsid." Nigel explains to the camera.
The gorgonopsid begins to head back into the desert, and Nigel decides to find out what that predator is doing. Nigel gets to one of the nearby sand dunes, and has a look over the area. While he is looking, he sees a whole herd of scutosaurs. Nigel is amazed at seeing this whole herd of scutosaurs, but realizes that the gorgonopsid might be after them. That is when he sees the gorgon hiding in the nearby bushes.
"For those of you watching a fair warning; this might be a little bit hard to watch" Nigel says to the camera as he is watching the gorgon.
Meanwhile back at the park; headkeeper Bob is starting his work on making the perfect habitat for the scutosaurus. First, he begins to scout an area around the park; when he finds a nice wooded are. Seeing this Bob decides to have a look around, and thinks this would be a perfect area for the scutosaurus to be in. He goes deeper, and sees some of the scutosaur's favorite food ferns which grow abundantly in the area. Realizing it is the perfect spot for the scutosaurus; Bob starts getting to work on building the fence around the area.
After building the fence; Bob calls for his crew to bring in the scutosaurus. In about ten minutes the truck shows up; with the scutosaurus in the back. Bob has them back the truck to the entrance of the exhibit; at which point the back opens up. The scutosaurus tramples out; nearly knocking Bob over. Seeing that it is now free from the pen, and in a new pen the scutosaur begins to walk around the exhibit.
Realizing that it is now free, and in a new habitat that is better suited for it. The scutosaurus scampers off into the woods of its new habitat.
Meanwhile back in the Permian; Nigel continues to observe the gorgonops. The gorgonops again gets into a crouched position, and strikes. Most of the scutosaurs scatter when the reptile strikes; all but one. A youngster is killed by the predator, and the mother is trying to fight to get her baby back. The gorgonops growls at the approaching mother, and lunges at her.
The mother backs off after that lunge; realizing now that her baby is now dead. Seeing that there is no one to bother it; the gorgonops begins to drags its kill deep into the desert. As Nigel is observing what is going on; he starts to get an idea, of how to bring this ancient predator back to the present. Nigel head towards the back of the jeep, and pulls out some rope.
Meanwhile back in Prehistoric Park; Bob is busy getting another enclosure ready for the gorgonopsid. As he is getting the enclosure ready; his communicator begins to beep. It is head vet Suzanne on the other end, and from the sound of it; it sounds like an emergency.
"Yeah, what's up Suzanne?" Bob asks.
"You might want to come down to the carnotaurus enclosure; something is up with one of the babies!" Suzanne explains.
"Copy, I'm on my way." Bob says as he heads towards the jeep.
When he arrives; he sees what Suzanne is talking about. The youngest of the two babies seems to have not fully healed from that encounter with Matilda. On the back of the baby's back there is a sore that seems to have gotten angry red overnight.
"I thought we took care of this already?" Bob asks.
"I thought we did too, but apparently we have to keep doing something until it just goes away." Suzanne replies.
Back in the permian; Nigel manages to get close enough to tie some rope around part of the dead scuttosaurus. The gorgonopsid growls at little Nigel's approach, but continues to his meal. Nigel then ties the other end of the rope to the hitch on his jeep; seeing that the rope is tied at both ends, he guns the jeep. The jeep pulls the rope forwards; making the gorgon's meal drag out of reach. Seeing that he is losing his meal; the gorgon begins to chase after Nigel.
As the gorgon is chasing after him; Nigel activates the portal. On the other side of the portal; Nigel's jeep arrives with the dead scuttosaurus still tied to the rope. Behind him the gorgonops arrives, and is nearly caught up to him. When Nigel arrives at the quarantine area; he books it out of his jeep, and allows the gorgon to enjoy his meal. It is then while Nigel is making his way out of the pen; that he gets a call from Suzanne about the baby carnotaurus.
"Okay, I'll be there shortly." Nigel replies.
When he arrives, he sees how badly the baby carnotaurus has gotten.
"Alright, I think we should try to fix that back infection; cause you see tyrannosaurs are like komodo dragons. It isn't just their teeth that will kill you; it is more the bite that does more damage. Cause their teeth have got bacteria in them; that will basically cause such a bad infection that the animal will become very weak, and die." Nigel explains.
"So, what should we do?" Bob asks
"Well let's treat the infection, then we'll see if he will be strong enough to make it" Nigel replies as they load the baby into the truck to take her to the vet.
Next Time: Nigel continues his search to find mates for the tyrannosaurus, and he is going to head to the same time period, and bring back more than just the mates.
Hope you guys enjoyed this, and stay tuned for the next episode. Be sure to review.
