The Tale of Flytervann

Chapter 1

Two Sisters

It was a cold morning as the sun rose on the kingdom of Flytervann. The townspeople began to wake up and start their usual daily routines.

Flytervann was a small kingdom near a large flowing river. The town's main color palette was light blue with a few hints of seaweed green and yellowish-brown. The town had a few shops, small houses and a school.

Near the town was a large castle. The castle had four purple flags that had a symbol of a dark blue orca on them. Moss grew on the walls outside the castle and the courtyard looked like it hadn't been used in years.

Once the kingdom had been ruled by a kind-hearted king and his loving queen. However several years ago they had passed away and the kingdom was left in the care of their two daughters. Their names were Florence and Cleo. Florence was the oldest at age twenty-eight. She had short blond hair, dark blue eyes, pinkish-white smooth skin, a pear-shaped body and wore a long white dress.

Cleo was a year younger than her sister at age twenty-seven. She had long brown hair with a water blue stripe down the middle, an hourglass figure, light blue eyes and smooth soft skin. Her dress was light blue at the top and dark blue at the bottom.

The two sisters had a secret that only the kingdom knew about. They had the power to control water. Florence believed that her powers made her superior to her subjects and anyone without powers. Her ego was the size of a blue whale and she could care less about the well being of the kingdom unless it directed her personally. Cleo on the other hand was the opposite of her older sister. She loved her subjects and would do want ever was best for them and the kingdom, however, she was scared of her powers, she thought it made her a freak and thought that even the kindest of people saw her as a monster.

As the clock tower showed the time to be ten-fifteen one of the castle's servants came into the throne room where the sisters were. His name was Edward, he was a tall skinny man in his late fifties. He came to a stop just a few feet from the woman in white.

"Your majesty, I bring you unfortunate news." Edward said.

"What is it this time." Florence said expecting it to be another peasant problem.

"I was just speaking to the council and they have come to an agreement that it is time for you to find a partner to rule alongside you."

Florence let out a groan. She really didn't want to share her throne with. The only one she would kind of accept was her sister only due to Cleo being a more quiet person.

"Just tell them that I have no interest in finding a king to rule alongside me." she said to the old man.

"But your majesty if you don't then by the law of the kingdom, you will lose your title as queen of Flytervann." Edward said.

A smirk appeared on Florence's face. "Are you sure about that? I could just wash them away." she said.

"I don't think that's a good idea, your majesty." the old man said.

Florence just raised an eyebrow in a way that said "Do you really think I care about what you think?"

Cleo looked at them as she tried to think of a way to not have her sister start using her magic in anger. Then it came to her.

"Edward, did the council say it had to be a king?" Cleo asked.

"Well no if Florence wants she can have a queen instead." Edward said.

Cleo gave a small smile as her older who just rolled her eyes. Even though Florence was into women she didn't like it when her sister spoke for her or made decisions for her. Florence returned her attention to the old man.

"Very well Edward, tell the council that I will find a queen to rule alongside me." Florence said.

"Oh course your majesty." Edward said. He turned around and walked out the door and closed it behind him. A few seconds after he had gone Florence turned to her younger sister and gave a cold stir.

"How many times have I told you not to get involved with my decision making?" the older sister asked crossly.

"I'm sorry Florence I was just trying to help." Cleo said guiltily.

"You know how I feel about you interfering with running my kingdom."

"I know but..."

"Not another word Cleo." Florence said turning her head away from her sister to show that she was done with their conversation.

Cleo got off of her seat and walked away and left the room, leaving Florence to roll her eyes.

As Cleo walked through an empty hallway she came to a stop at a nearby window. She opened it and looked down at the town below. She let out a sad sigh as she watched the town's people go about their day. Ever since her parent's deaths, she had had little interaction with her subjects as her sister had decided to lock the castle from the outside world. Cleo wished to go back outside of the castle grounds and meet the people of the town again, go into the shops and explore the world outside of Flytervann, however, a small voice in her told her that she won't like it and that people would want her head on a spike once they found out about her water powers. As she put her right hand on the window cell some water fell off and landed on the stone floor in the courtyard. She quickly removed her hand and checked to make sure that no one had seen it.

She let out a sigh of relief before she looked up at the sky. Some light grey clouds crossed over the castle and town. Shortly a light snowfall came from out of the morning sky. Cleo smiled, she had always loved the snow and it brought back memories from her childhood.

She then closed the window and continued to walk down the hallway. She had little idea that in a few weeks her life would change forever.
