Chapter 1
Beware the Vampire
Yuma was late, as per usual.
"Oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap", he said as he ran down the street. "I'm soo frickin late". Astral, Yuma's invisible alien friend from another dimension, then appeared and began to float behind him.
"Yuma", said Astral. "I do believe that acquiring a device known as an 'alarm clock' would be beneficial".
"Who has time for that?" Asked Yuma. He then ran so fast he almost blew a trash can over. He made it to class, but he was exhausted.
"*pant**pant* Sorry *pant**pant* I'm *pant**pant* late" Yuma panted.
"Yuma, it's practically become second nature to you", said Mr. Kay; his home room teacher. "Now, take your seat". As Yuma made his way to his seat, someone decided to start a conversation.
"Hey, did you hear about the vampire that everyone keeps seeing?" Asked about with spiky red hair.
"Vampire?" Asked a boy with glasses suspiciously.
"Dude, I saw her with my own two eyes", said the red head. "Or, at least my uncle did, she's gorgeous and has got these gigantic fangs".
"Wait", said a boy with slit back hair. "Are you saying it's a, uh, she-vamp, I think that's what they're called".
"Are you talking about that vampire lady everyone keeps seeing?", asked a girl with long flat hair. "I saw her last week and I swear to god her eyes glowed a literal blood red".
"Well she better stay away from my brother" said a girl with curly hair.
"What're you guys talking about?" Asked Mr. Kay.
"There's a vampire girl rumoured to be around the city" said one of the boys.
"Vampire girl huh?", asked Mr. Kay curiously. "Guess it wasn't a figment of our imagination".
"You saw it too?" Asked one of the girls.
"Indeed", answered Mr. Kay. "It happened a few nights ago. Me and my wife were walking home from a night out to dinner and we heard the sound of a man screaming. We then saw a girl with white hair and red eyes biting on a homeless man's neck as he screamed in pain. The second it turned around and saw us, it ran away".
Yuma was listening to this and it peeked his curiosity.
Later, at lunch.
Yuma was sitting at lunch with his friends and decided to bring the topic up.
"So there really IS a vampire?!" Yuma blurted in astonishment.
"A SUPPOSED vampire", corrected Bronk. "No one confirmed the sightings yet, so for all we know it could be some girl in a costume".
"Yeah", said Caswel. "If you ask me, it's a practical joke".
"A practical joke?", asked Flip. "I doubt it was a practical joke that put seven people in the hospital".
"And check this out", said Tori showing her duel pad. On the screen was a news article about the 'vampire attacks'. "It's become a news sensation practically over night".
"Never took the people of Heartland city as superstitious" said Cathy.
"Never did I", said Yuma. "But hey, it's not the weirdest thing that we've seen. Remember, the number cards and number hunters".
"Hmm, true", said Bronk. "But you seriously believe in all this whole 'Vampire Girl' crap?".
"After all we've seen in just under how many episodes of 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal'?", asked Yuma. "I'm not surprised at all".
"You think they might get the authorities involved?" Asked Tori.
"Maybe", said Caswel. "Given how many people were hospitalised".
But, unbeknown to Yuma and the others, a shadowy figure was watching them from the darkness as a red '24' glowed on over her collar bone.
