In the bathrooms, the lights had flickered slightly as if it had been in a complete wreck; a few blood stains had faded, as only two stalls weren't beyond repair or used. A vent looked to be blasted open as a set of people soon emerged.
"Huh, so-this is where they reside."
"Those foolish ninos-They don't know that we've been tracking them all this time. And now-"
The set of people revealed themselves to be Tau and Spada along with some of his men, readied themselves. Tau's aura arm formed a blade as he had a malicious smile.
"-It's time to take-What is mine."
(Second Opening Theme: Beastars Opening 1-Wild Side Performed By Ali)
All had been quiet in the room as the sound of the Styx's clicking and cracking their bones could still be heard just outside. Koichi had taken the next shift for lookout as he had been helping himself to coffee while the others had been asleep.
The time had been 3 a.m as the sun was sure to rise in a few hours.
Everyone had been sound asleep in their own dreamland, as even Katsuki and Reina looked peaceful as they had been each other's arms. Though it hadn't been long before he felt Reina move in his arms as he could hear her start to whimper; he opened his eyes and noticed that she had been sweating as her breathing was labored.
"Stop it-No-" He could hear her say, "-I didn't mean to-I'm sorry-I didn't mean it-I'm sorry-"
"She's having a nightmare." He thought before he started to caress her cheeks and brush her hair back. He brought her closer to him as his mother did for him; he started to shush her as her cries had been muffled a little.
"It's okay Reina." He said to her softly, "I'm not gonna let you go this time."
He could feel Reina still shake as her whimpers and cries seemed to have gotten a bit louder. He soon thought of a way to calm her down. He adjusted himself before he took a deep breath as he leaned to her ear.
When the empress ran aground
And the skies turned blue and green
I heard a gorgeous sound
That's when it became a dream
When the sky fell in
When the hurricanes came for me
I could finally crash again
That's how I became the sea
He could hear her whimpers lessen as her eyes opened drowsingly as Katsuki only smiled at her. "Hey-" He said, "-You're not in your nightmare anymore."
"... That song..." She said softly, "... You actually sang it to me…"
"If it helped calm me down-Then it would be the same for you." He told her as he played with some of her hair, "... I really did prefer you in the candy color by the way. You look better with candy hair."
Reina let out a soft laugh, but soon lost her smile, "Maybe if my Quirk turns back on you can enjoy it as much as you like-If it ever will at all…"
Katsuki sighed as he laid on his side while he caressed her shoulder, "You were talking in your sleep… You kept saying you were sorry."
Reina's look softened as she turned to lay on her back as she looked to the ceiling; Katsuki had done the same.
"... Do you want to talk about it?" Katsuki asked.
"... No." Reina replied, "I don't want to remember it."
"... Because it scares you?"
"Because it's something I don't want to think about… Since it's-The second fatal mistake I made…"
"... Second?"
Reina had been taken back as she had come to realize what she had just said. "The second…" She said confused, "... Why would I say something like that?"
"You're asking me that?" Katsuki asked as he noted how off she looked. Though he had a pretty good idea as to why she would say a thing like that in the first place. He soon took her hand as he gave it a squeeze. "I could be wrong-" He started to think, "-But… Maybe she's starting to remember me? Or rather-" His other hand gripped his side, "-Remembering that time, where I almost died. I should-" He only shook his head, "-No what am I thinking? I can't say it. She needs to figure it out herself. If I say anything-"
"Does it still hurt?" Reina soon asked.
Katsuki looked over to her, as his look softened, "Do you mean the wounds I got?"
Reina shook her head in reply; she placed her hand on his chest, right where Futsuno had gotten him. "This…" She said, "... What Futsuno did to you… Do you still feel pain?"
"... It's faint-" He replied, "-But-It does hurt a little, everytime I think about it."
"... Is that why you have trouble sleeping?" She asked, "Because of the mistake I made?"
He looked at her shocked, "This-Isn't on you, you know that."
"But-We both said to each other we'd rely on each other didn't we?" She said, "I was right there-And I could've done something with my curse of a Quirk. But in the end…" Her hand started to shake as she found herself breaking down, "... In the end… You ended up suffering because of me. And I did try to kill everyone."
"... But you didn't let me suffer." Katsuki said, as Reina looked shocked, "I wouldn't have made it to the hospital if it wasn't for you."
Reina only looked confused as she sat up a little, "What do you mean? I tried to kill everyone."
"But that doesn't change what you did for me." He said, as he placed his hand over his chest, "I don't know how-But your Quirk, stopped blood from coming out, and I didn't feel myself choking on it. It hurt to breathe sure-But at least I could take a breath." He soon turned to her as he brushed her hair back again, "You saved my life. That should tell you something, shouldn't it?"
Reina had a look of disbelief as she sat up, trying to process it all. She never actually thought that her terrifying all-power Quirk could actually help someone. She thought she had been dreaming as she knew it was impossible. In fact… She was scared to actually believe something such as this could be real.
"Hey-" Katsuki soon said as he sat himself up, "-Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?"
It was then Katsuki noticed that Reina had been shaking as she hugged herself; he soon saw tears had streamed down her face. He immediately acted as he hugged her before gently shushing her.
"Hey, hey, it's okay." He said, as he rubbed her back, before he smacked himself, "Damn it, I said something stupid didn't I?! I didn't mean to!"
Reina only shook her head as she only continued to cry as she shook. Katsuki continued to massage her back as he shushed her gently. "Okay-Okay, come on." He told her as he got her to stand, "Let's go and get some air."
He soon lead Reina out of the room as she continued to cry; On his way out he took his bag. None of the people stirred, except for King who had followed them outside as he had noticed that Reina had been in distress.
Katsuki took Reina towards what used to be the lobby area as it had been the only place where they could be alone. He sat her down on one couches as she continued to sob.
"Hang on now-" He said as he started to go through the bag, "-I've got something that might help."
He soon got out a set of headphones and hooked it up to his phone. He soon hit a specific playlist as Reina had been a bit taken back by the music that had played.
More specifically, it had been a certain song that played.
The sorrowful gust of wind that blew right between you and me
Where did it find the loneliness it carried on the breeze?
Looking up at the sky after shedding a stream of tears
I could see for miles of blue, it's never been so clear
Reina found herself hypnotized by the song as her tears seemed to have stopped flowing. She soon noticed the sheepish Katsuki gave as he started to twiddle his thumbs.
"I-Heard their band awhile ago." Katsuki said as he looked embarrassed, "I often listen to their songs-If I ever need to come down from one of these."
Reina couldn't help but smile at this as she couldn't help but laugh as she continued to listen, "... I never pegged you for a guy that listens to RADWiMPs."
"Don't tell anyone-" Katsuki said, "-I'm never gonna hear the end of it from the Half-Breed otherwise."
"Does-Izuku-kun know you like this sort of thing?" She asked curiously.
Katsuki had been hesitant before he eventually answered, "... How do you think I know about the band in the first place?"
Reina only smiled at this, "Aw, I knew it!"
"Knew what?"
"I knew you still cared about him and that you're still thinking of him!"
"LIKE I WOULD CARE ABOUT DEKU!"
"Don't go lying now-You told me you don't like to tell lies didn't you?"
Katsuki immediately turned red as he only let out a growl; Reina could only respond with a laugh as she continued to listen to the music. She soon leaned against his shoulder while he leaned his head against her. She started to hum with the music as Katsuki enjoyed the sound. Despite the sounds of the Styx's he could hear outside he had been put at ease just by her voice, like he had been before.
He soon noticed the tranquil look on her face as she continued to hum to the beat of the song; satisfied to see that she wasn't crying. He soon slid his hand onto her own till their fingers intertwined with each other.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, Reina spoke.
"... I'm… Sorry." She said, "For that sudden outburst… I guess it was just overwhelming… To hear that my Quirk actually saved someone."
"... And?" Katsuki said, "How did that make you feel?"
Reina snuggled into him as she gave him a hug, "... It's a bit of a mix bag… But I'm mostly happy…"
Katsuki huffed before he hugged her back, "Aside from the mixed feeling-I'm glad to hear that your happy."
"Still-" She soon said, "-I never did think the true power of my Quirk could even help someone."
"Are you calling me a liar?" He asked her with his voice sounding soft.
Reina only sighed as she removed the headphones from her ears. He noticed the change in her expression again, "...What's wrong?" He asked.
"...I-" She started to say, "-I don't know what to do…"
"That's normal-With your Quirk in all, it's okay to be confused." He told her though she shook her head in reply soon after. He noticed the troubled expression on her face, as she looked a bit hesitant but-
"... Nanami-s-neesan I mean-Asked me to go back to America with her." She suddenly blurted out.
Katsuki looked at her with plain shock as he nearly fell out of his seat. He took a few moments to process "... What?"
"... She asked me-When this is all over if I wanted to go with her." She said, "She told me that I could live with her and Jaeger-san. She recommended that I go to her school if I still want to work as a Pro Hero. She even said I would live in the same house as her, basically telling me, we can make up for lost time."
Though he still looked troubled by this, he had understood what she had been telling her, "You mean-You would leave Japan forever?" He asked her.
"... I guess so…" Reina replied.
"W-Well-" He soon stammered, which took Reina back a little, "-What did you say? Did you say yes? Please tell me you didn't-"
Reina sighed again, "... I didn't give her one. There wasn't enough time."
He sighed with relief however he still looked off by this, "But-You'd have to give her one eventually."
"I know that…" She said, "... But I don't think I can." Reina soon stood up as she started to pace despite her limp, "It's only been for a short while but a lot happened in Hosu. People think I'm responsible for the damage that's been done, and I even heard that they want the Pros to arrest me. I've had people try to kill me, because of something I wasn't a part of, and I know just escaping death from them won't be the end, they'll just keep coming after me. Probably for the rest of my life. They'll hurt the people I love just to get to me. It won't change even when I'm out of the Underworld's Hell. It probably won't change even when I share my side of the story. If I go to America, I can have a fresh start and be with someone who's my family."
Katsuki soon stood as he hugged her from behind to get her to stop pacing. She froze but allowed the gesture from him. "But then-" She soon said, "-When she asked that, I started to think about you, everyone I've met, the life I already made here… With the many downs and ups-I don't know if I can leave it. You're all-" She tightened her grip on his arms, "-You're all important to me-To abandon you, would be cruel." She laughed softly, "But-I guess it's cruel enough that I left so suddenly after the internships."
"... You didn't hurt any of them." Katsuki told her, "They're just worried and scared for you. Even Aizawa-sensei of all people…"
"Shota…" She said before her face softened, "... He must be wondering where I've gone… I didn't even go to say goodbye to him…"
"You don't have to-" He said, "-If you don't want to."
Reina soon pried herself from him as she turned to him, "... It's easy for you to say-You were loved by so many people with your Quirk while everyone ran scared from me. I did have people I loved looking out for me, but-I can't have them get hurt because of something I was born with."
His own look softened before he took her hands, "... Reina-I appreciate what you said about me-I really do-" He soon hugged her again, "-But the truth is… I'm not as perfect as you think."
This time, Reina had been taken back as she noticed the look in his eyes. "... I-Know who I am, and I can't help that." Katsuki said, as his hands started to shake, "But there's something that I keep to myself. All that talk about me being this violent, being more of a Villain then a Hero I hear from the people that talk behind my back… It just hurts."
Reina could see him visibly shaking as he had been trying to prevent himself from breaking down there.
"It hurts so much-That sometimes I just want to scream." He admitted, "I just want to tell the world that it all hurts, and that I'm at least trying to walk the path as a Hero, not just as one that's going to surpass All Might one day. I don't want people to see me that way but they do! I can't help it because it's the way they are. I can't change that but-Believe you me-I wish I could." He soon approached her as Reina stood still, "But-From the day I met you-The day I first saw you-You made it all worth it."
Reina looked shocked, "...Y-You really mean that?"
"Of course I do-" He said as he took her in his arms, minding the wounds she had, "-You're the most important person in my life. I wouldn't have done what I did with you if I didn't mean that!" He brought her in a hug again, "... Reina-I don't just like you… I love you." Reina had gasped lightly, "I love you so much it's almost like I could die."
Reina felt her heart go a flutter. It had been the first time she had heard him say those three words. Not like-Love. It seemed to have sparked something in her as she didn't seem to realize that her eyes had shifted to a familiar odd color. She stayed silent as she leaned into his embrace.
Katsuki felt like there had been a weight off of his chest as he couldn't help but smile. For the first time in his life he felt at ease. He never did like to share anything with anyone-Even with his parents. But-After saying it out loud-Finally admitting it, it felt as though he could finally breathe.
Though… He knew he wasn't completely out of the woods. He knew-He needed to be the one to tell her… The truth.
"Reina-" He soon said as he took a deep breath; as he got her out of their embrace he noticed the familiar combination of red and purple though he stayed silent about it, "-I know-I'm shitty when it comes to timing but-"
"But?" She said curiously.
Katsuki took another deep breath, "I need-No-I HAVE to show you something." He soon pried himself from her as he went to his bag. She had been surprised when he took out-
"An envelope?" Reina said, puzzled.
"This is-What I wanted to give you after the internships." Katsuki admitted, "But then Hosu happened and you ended up running away-I didn't know-" He soon took another deep breath, "-All that aside-I wrote this letter to you before all of that happened. It'll tell you something that you weren't even aware of."
She looked even more puzzled at this as King tilted his head. "I-Wasn't aware of?"
He soon handed the envelope to her, "Yes… That something I wanted you to know, I couldn't speak up because it was hard, so I wrote it all down. Everything that I wanted you to know, is all written here. It might not be best, but if you want to read it now then I'll be fine. Whatever the case-I need you to trust me."
Reina looked at the envelope as she could see her name had been written on it. It looked worn out and crinkled slightly as she could only assume it had been because it had been in his bag for quite awhile.
"... Even after everything-Even though I should push you away-" She said as her eyes remained her odd eye combination, "-I'll always trust you." She soon reached out to take the envelope from him, when-
PING!
She felt a familiar headache come on as she groaned in agony; her eyes seemed to have reverted back to gold as a familiar streak of white returned. "Reina!" Katsuki exclaimed before he ran over to her, "What is it?!"
"M-My head-" Reina groaned, "-Why is it-?" She soon had a thought come over to her, "It's just like before-But-What does it-"
"Is someone over there?"
Reina and Katsuki froze at the sound of an unfamiliar voice as King growled softly. Much to their own horror, they could hear the footsteps coming towards them. The pain in her head seemed to have intensified as she realized what it had meant.
"We gotta hide!" She told Katsuki softly, "Now!"
Katsuki didn't have any hesitation as he quickly followed her and King behind the somewhat broken desk; though not before he stuffed the letter back in his bag and threw it over his shoulder.
Just as they had gotten out of sight, two men had entered the lobby. Reina and Katsuki peaked out from behind the desk and they could see they were armed with guns; they looked to be equipped with silencers.
"I was sure I heard something." The man said as he looked around.
His companion told him, "Keep searching. Leave no stone unturned. You heard what the boss said."
"I know, I know-" He said, "-We kill the people in here. All except that girl and the patch guy."
Katsuki motioned her to stay quiet as Reina placed her hands over her mouth to prevent her from breathing. He started looking for a way out that had been close to them and someplace where they wouldn't be easily. King soon huffed softly as he pointed to what had been nearby.
The two of them looked over and saw a vent shaft that had just been near them. It was out in the open but they both knew they could reach it. The two of them exchanged a nod as Katsuki took a rock that had been nearby. In the next second, he tossed the rock across the way the moment their backs were turned. He quickly hid back down as they heard something shatter.
"Oi-" The man said, to his companion, "-Did you hear that?"
"Yeah-" His companion said, "-Let's go have a look."
Katsuki motioned Reina to move forward just as the men left the room. She had pulled on the grate but it didn't budge. "Shit!" She exclaimed softly, "I can't get it open!"
"Hold on-!" Katsuki said softly as he quickly looked through his bag. He soon had taken out his wallet before he had taken out a coin. "Here!" He told her, "Use this to get it open."
Reina nodded before she took the coin from him. At least that's how it would've been as she had reached out with her casted hand; her eyes widened slightly at this as they could hear the men again.
"Okay-" He said, before he patted her hand gently, "-I'll do it."
Katsuki soon went over to the grate as he started to undo the screws. They froze slightly when they heard them coming back.
"Hurry!" She whispered.
Katsuki only shushed her gently before he went to unscrew the last bolt. He quickly removed it from its place being quiet. "Go in, now!" He told her.
Reina quickly crawled inside as King was quick to follow behind her. Katsuki had been the last one to go in as he set the grate back in place as best as he could before they ventured deep into the vent just as the men returned. They moved as fast and quietly as they could.
Once they were out of earshot they stopped to catch their breath.
"That-Was too close." Reina whispered.
"Do you know those guys?" Katsuki asked.
"I-I think so." Reina replied as her voice had been shaking, "I-I remember seeing them, when we were saving the kids. I think they're with Tau."
Katsuki looked to be in shock by this sort of thing as he had taken a moment to process the information. It all took a moment for it to click in his head. "B-But I don't understand!" She whispered, "How did they even find us? How did they even get in with those things outside?! How did they know we're here?!"
Katsuki gritted his teeth as he could feel his anger boil, as he thought back to earlier as he felt his hand shaking, "... That bastard-He played us-!"
Reina looked confused, "What? What did you say?"
"Look, I'll tell you later-" He said, "-Right now, I gotta get you somewhere safe."
"But the others-" Reina said, "-We have to warn them! Tau will-"
Katsuki only gave her a look, "Really? Did you forget how that half-breed is?" He soon started to usher her through the vent as they moved quickly but silently, "-That damn weirdo has an extra sense for this kind of stuff! It even creeps me out sometimes.."
The group had been sound asleep in their mats as they had been entertained with their dreams. Koichi had just switched his position with Jaeger as he had been keeping watch, listening to the sounds of the Styxs outside. Floyd had been twitching soundly as he had been softly snoring.
"... That's right Asta-" Floyd said softly, "-You give fate a kick in the John-Johns! When you surpass your limits, they ain't gonna let you control you no more…"
"What a strange brat." Jaeger said, "It's scary how he's like Josephine."
Soon enough Floyd's Paint Brush-like hair began to wiggle in multiple directions; his eyes soon shot open as he suddenly let out a scream causing the group to get startled. "Dude, what the hell?!" Wan groaned tiredly as she turned on the lights in the room.
"Some of us are trying to sleep, you know?" Riichi said.
"Do you have any idea what time it is…?" Dabi said.
"I was just about to sleep…" Koichi groaned.
"Floyd-san?" Izuku said, "What's wrong?"
"I have a bad feeling about this-" Floyd said, "I think something's coming."
"Wait, he has a sixth sense?" Riichi said.
"Just go back to sleep hon-" Valentine said as he fell back into the bed, "-It's too early for this…"
Floyd soon shook him awake as Valentine shrieked, "Nonononononono! We have to go now!"
"Easy Honey." Valentine said. "Buy me dinner tomorro-"
"THERE WON'T BE A TOMORROW IF WE STAY HERE!" Floyd exclaimed.
"Bro chill out!" Nira said, as she stopped him as she managed to grab his shoulder after following the sound of his voice, "What the hell has gotten into you?!"
"First of all, you're thirteen, watch your language!" Floyd said, "Secondly-WE GOTTA GET THE HELL OUT OF DODGE!"
"Quiet!" Jaeger told him, "The noises make the Styx's aggressive you know?"
"Seriously-" Nanami said, "-Why do you think we need to leave?"
Floyd had replied, "We have MORE than the Styx to worry about!"
"You mean-someone even more dangerous is coming?" Wan asked
"Okay now you're just being insane." Riichi said.
"He's not-" Izuku said "-I've known Floyd since middle school. He's never wrong about this kind of thing."
"And how do you know that?" Kiyo asked.
"When we were in Aldera, Reina-chan, Floyd-san and I were walking home." Izuku started to explain, "We ended up staying in late since we had cleaning duty. Reina-chan decided we should take a shortcut through the playground, though the only problem was away from the crowd. We were about halfway when Floyd-san made an excuse to go to the arcade. We didn't really understand it at first but we went along with him anyway and we made our way back."
Floyd soon finished off the story, "In other words, I saved their lives! Turns out that place was a hotspot for thugs to steal from unsuspecting students!"
"Huh, just like Josephine's boyfriend." Jaeger said in awe, "Well I guess husband is more appropriate."
"How do you know if you're right though?" Wan asked.
Floyd had told her, "Look, I'm 75% right about these things!"
"It's true." Izuku admitted. "It helped out in more ways than one."
"I don't really get it but I think we have to listen to him at least." Kiyo said.
"But we can't go anywhere with the Styx still outside." Nanami said, "They'll kill us the moment we set one foot out there."
The group couldn't help but watch as Floyd's hair continued to twitch in a strange way. "Okay seriously, you're being-" Wan started to say before Jaeger's ears started to twitch. He quickly snapped his fingers to get the others' attention; he placed a finger to his lips motioning to keep them quiet. His ears twitched again.
"Kill the lights-" Jaeger told them, "-Now."
"What?" Kiyo said, shocked.
"Just do it!" Jaeger told them again.
Kiyo flinched but quickly went to shut off the light. Jaeger soon motioned them to stay quiet as he signed them to go against the wall. Just as they did, they could hear the sound of footsteps coming towards them as they had seen a set of lights illuminating the way.
They froze at the sight of the guns as they came into view; they noticed they had been equipped with silencers.
"Huh, what do you know?" Wan whispered.
The group stood on standby as they waited for Jager's instruction as they came closer. They could hear them speaking to each other.
"Not that I'm questioning the boss-But isn't it a bit much to actually torture that girl? She is just a kid after all."
"Hey-Don't let the boss hear that! You know what he does to his followers when he's questioned!"
"I know that but still-What the hell did this kid ever do to him? Aside from taking his arm I mean-"
"Look man, I don't know-Just find her and that patches guy so we can get out of this Ghost Town. Those things out there are giving me the creeps."
"No kidding-Are those things really the things that ate half of the men…?"
Izuku and Floyd soon noticed Jaeger soon started to sign towards Nanami, Wan and Riichi; giving them instructions on what to do next. The three of them nodded before they moved from where they were hiding.
"What are they doing?" Izuku whispered.
Floyd had wondered aloud, as he spoke softly, "Not sure myself, dude. I'm clueless as you are."
Riichi held out his hand to Wan and she took it without hesitation; Izuku and Floyd jumped when they saw the both of them sink into the floor. Nanami put a set of headphones in her ears before they could hear music playing. Just as they were halfway down the hall, Nanami snapped in her fingers; in a flash of a blue flash Izuku and Floyd saw that she had been gone.
"She vanished?!" Izuku exclaimed in his head before he felt a familiar sensation surge through his body at the moment. It hadn't been a moment later before they heard a startled cry that was quickly muffled. They saw that Nanami had gotten the jump on one of the gunmen and had him pinned. Her hand had been over his mouth as she had him in a choke hold.
"J-Jerry?!" His comrade exclaimed, "Jerry, where did you go?!"
"That presence-" Izuku thought shocked, as he looked to Nanami who kept the man-Jerry in place, "-It's faint-But-She couldn't be like-"
The man called out again, "Jerry! Come on! Stop playing around!"
Riichi and Wan soon emerged the moment his back was turned. They soon tackled the man as he let out a shriek. "Get the gun!" Riichi told her as he had him pinned-Or so he thought. Riichi felt the man nearly break his arm the moment he found himself trapped.
"Riichi!" Wan exclaimed before she was hit across the face, causing her to hit the floor. He grabbed his gun again as Riichi tried to recover.
"Cuz!" Kiyo shouted. Though before he could do anything, Floyd immediately jumped into action.
He broke out his sketchbook as he whipped out a whip made of ink before he hurled it at the person's neck as he was gasping for air. He pulled him away from Wan before he kicked him.
"What the hell is your problem!?" The man said.
"I should be asking you that!" Floyd added before he socked him in the face.
Wan couldn't help but have a look of awe, before she went to help Riichi up. "Damn-" Wan said before she gave him a pat on the head, "-You're pretty good for someone who's hair is like a paintbrush."
"Not bad yourself you demon." Floyd repiled
"For the record he's the demon." Wan said as she pointed to Riichi.
"You're damn straight." Riichi said
Floyd had said as he stuck his tongue out, "Very funny!"
Jaeger soon took the gun as he tied up both of the men; he quickly binded the wrists before he set them against the wall. "I recognize you scumbags-" Jaeger said, "-You're men are with that bastard Tau, aren't you?"
Izuku and Floyd flinched at this as they had a look of shock. The men didn't answer, but the look on their faces gave them away. Dabi clicked his tongue at this, "So you rats managed to find your way in here."
"But how?" Kiyo asked, "No one could get in with the Styx's outside."
"They must've found a blindspot where the Styx couldn't sense them." Nanami said.
"You guys are just insane ain't ya?" Valentine said.
"But why would they be here?" Nira asked.
"Why don't we ask?" Jaeger asked as he took one of the men before he threw him to the wall. He let out a cry as he pinned him. "Talk!" He said in a menacing tone of voice, "Why are you here?!"
Jerry coughed a little as he had been shaken by the look he gave. "-T-Tau-sama told us to bring that patches guy, that kid and his niece to him!" He replied as his voice shook, "He said-We could kill the others but we were to leave them alive! H-He said he would make it worth our while when we returned to the cities. "
"He's still after Reina?" Nira said as she raised an eyebrow, "That guy is more stubborn than the old men out here and that's saying a WHOLE lot."
"Bullshit." Dabi said as the group looked shocked by this, "You couldn't have found us out here that easily."
"He's right-" Koichi added, "-We practically ran circles around him. He couldn't have gotten the information!"
"H-He didn't have to!" Jerry replied as his voice shook, "H-He made a bluff to the leader of TerraShield-So that they could lead him to them!"
The group had a shock of look and realization; they turned to Izuku and Floyd who only had a look of horror.
"He was bluffing…" Izuku said before his look changed as he had fully processed the situation; he turned to Floyd, "... He played us!"
Floyd took a moment to process as before he gritted his teeth as he said, "That bastard. He was Never gonna hold his end of the deal!"
"No that's not his style-" Jaeger said, "-Tau never bluffs unless he-" It took all but a moment before he had come to the realization of something; It seemed to have hit Wan as well as she had a look of shock. "You two-" Jaeger said to Izuku and Floyd, "-What EXACTLY did he threaten to do?"
Izuku and Floyd had been taken back by this question before Izuku himself spoke, "He said-He would kill everyone in TerraShield if Reina didn't come to meet him."
Floyd added as he nodded, "Yeah-He seemed like he was serious." He was soon a bit taken back, "Wait-Why are asking that? What's wrong with what he said?"
"Because THAT was his bluff." Wan said as Floyd looked to her shocked, "That old bastard may be a murderous psychopath-But what he hates more than people that kick his ass-It's beating people that are weaker than him. I heard him tell my dad once, it left a bad aftertaste for him. Needless to say they got into a nasty argument that night."
"He used the fact that neither of you knew him fully by reputation alone and the fact that you three are as close to Reina as you say to his advantage-" Jaeger said, "-So that he could make you think he was going to do something drastic so that the three of you could practically show him where Reina was going to be. All he had to do was wait until she was cornered."
Floyd shook his fist as he said, "That guy.."
"I know-" Wan said, "-I hate him too."
"You mean to say-" Dabi said as he looked at the men, "-That Tau is here right now?"
The men gulped at the look in Dabi's eyes. They both nodded their heads as Dabi clicked his tongue before he came to realize something. "Wait a minute-" He said as he looked in the room, "-Did anyone see her come out of the room?!"
Everyone looked back into the room as they just realized that Reina wasn't there. "She's not here?!" Nanami said, "But she was in here just a second ago?!"
"Bakugou-san's gone too!" Koichi added as he looked into the room.
"So's King!" Riichi said.
"They must be in a different part of the inn." Kiyo concluded
"Oh damn!" Floyd exclaimed. "Worst timing too! Especially with that psychopath now loose!"
"Damn it all!" Dabi said.
Much to everyone's surprise Dabi started to venture down the hall. "Dabi wait!" Nanami exclaimed, "Where are you going?!"
"Where do you think?" Dabi said as he turned the corner at the end of the hall, "I'm finding her before they do!"
"Dabi-!" Wan and Riichi called out as they were about to go after him, only to be stopped by Jaeger.
"Let him go-" He said to them, "-Personally I would be more worried about those guys than Tau right now. He'll be alright."
"Still-" Nanami said worryingly.
"Reina-chan and Kaa-chan-" Izuku said, startled, "-I'm sorry but I-"
Kiyo smiled at him, "Don't worry we know. Go and find them, but be careful."
"I'll come with you." Koichi said to Izuku, "You'll need all the help you can get
Izuku only nodded at this, "Floyd-san!"
"Right!" Floyd said as he nodded before he took his bag that had a sleepy Penny, "Come on Penny, your coming!"
"...Qu..A...ck?" Penny groaned tiredly as she found herself being carried out of the room; Izuku, Koichi and Floyd soon left the area as the group had been left alone.
"So-" Nira said, "-What should we do?"
Jaeger's ears twitched as he looked onto those that remained, "We stick to the plan-And hold out till morning… By ANY means necessary. Is that understood?"
Each of them nodded their heads as Riichi chuckled as he smiled. "Sounds like we're gonna have some fun tonight-" Riichi said, "-I still haven't forgiven those assholes for trying to sell off those kids!"
"And I really want to knock down Tau a peg or two." Wan said.
"Oh those little assholes are gonna get it now." Valentine said as he readied his claws.
Nira only huffed, "You guys really are crazy you know that?"
"Hey-That's what makes us a good team." Kiyo said with a smile, "Sure we may look like a pretty bad looking bunch, but at least when it comes to us-" He soon placed his arm over Wan's shoulder, "-Our batch of people we got-Is the good kind."
It soon clicked in Wan's head as she only had a smile; it seemed to have hit Riichi too as he had a smile of his own. "Bad Batch…" Wan said as it took some of them back.
"I'm sorry?" Kiyo said.
"Bad Batch!" Wan enunciated, "Pretty good, I like that name."
"Get the hell out of my head." Riichi said.
"Bad Batch? Sounds like an Edgy Hot Topic goth band" Valentine said.
"I think that sounds cool." Nira said.
"What on Earth are you guys talking about?" Nanami asked curiously.
"Don't worry-" Wan said, "-Your sister will tell you later." Nanami only looked confused at this sort of thing.
Jaeger sighed as he shook his head at this, "I don't really understand but-" They soon flinched at the sound of voices down the halls. He took hold of the two men, as he readied himself with the others, "-Get ready to fight."
"Yes sir!" The group said, before they quickly went to work as they were ready to defend themselves.
Many of the Styx's outside only growled and snarled as the lights started to come on. A couple of people on the outside had taken notice of. Diamond and Hearts had tensed up at this as did a young man; they had been stirred from their slumber to a loud noise. The three of them looked inside as they noticed figures had been moving inside.
The third young boy that had been with them had hair and appeared to have died in a shade of a lime green and his eyes were of orange; his hair had been curled upwards as it looked to resemble feathers. His outfit consisted of a black ruined vest with an old worn out white collared shirt that looked to be covered in old stains. The short black pants he wore had been short and a bit ripped and he appeared to be bare foot as he wore nothing more then wrapped bandages.
His left hand appeared to be prosthetic that looked to only have fingers.
"What are noises?" The boy asked, "Clover doesn't like it-"
Diamond stood as he took a set of binoculars; when he looked through he caught sight of men holding guns They appeared to be knocking furniture and objects over as they appeared to be searching for something.
Diamond clicked his tone, "This one sees they're outsiders."
"O-utsiders…?" Hearts said, "... O-utsiders are-There-?"
The boy seemed to let out a growl, "Outsiders aren't welcome! Clover hates Outsiders!"
"Wha-at-Are they-Do-ing…?" Hearts asked.
Diamond looked through the binoculars again, "Those ones-Are searching. This one can't tell what it is they're looking for."
The young boy-Clover growled and pulled on his hair slightly, "Those ones will ruin everything! Those ones are going to kill Alice! Clover knows it!"
"... I-f A-lice dies-" Hearts said, "-T-he p-lan will f-ail."
"This one knows." Diamond said with a click of his tongue, "Alice is the Key afterall."
Clover let out a cry as it seemed to have startled them. "Clover will kill them all! Clover will erase them from this world!"
"Clover!" Hearts and Diamond shouted. Just as he had been ready to charge in with his golden shears… The sound of a music box could be heard. It made the three of them freeze up, just as a fourth voice came over them. She appeared to be humming along with the soft and comforting, yet… Solemn and lonely tune.
It hadn't been a moment later before she approached them, as she began to sing.
Let me sing a lullaby
As you close your eyes
And as you close your eyes
And as your drifting off to sleep
How I hope that the dreams that you find
Are bright
Love, can we meet again soon in the bluest of skies?
Where a tomorrow waits for you and I
So hold me tight one more time, but don't kiss me goodbye
Cause I know, I'll see you on the other side
I will think of our song when the nights are too long
I'll dream of you for that's where I belong
Love, can we meet again soon in the bluest of skies
Only, in my dreams, do we meet again
As the girl dressed in black had approached; her legs had been entirely of medal as they possessed claw-like features; one of the toes twitched and sparked. Her whole outfit had been black as she had worn a black sailors outfit that had been torn a bit. Her long sleeved top seemed to have been small as it had revealed her stomach as it had dark blue lining.
Her hair had been long and in a charcoal black and in a set of braids that had been tied together; the pair of scorpion tails swayed gently.
She closed the music box in her hands before she set it to a shoulder bag she had and adjusted the key that was around her neck.
"Are these ones calm now?" The young girl asked them as her tails had swayed.
"Spades-" Clover whined, "-The outsiders they-"
The girl-Spades nodded, before she spoke with a voice of silk, "This one is aware of the situation. And these ones are right. There is only ONE Alice-ONE key. These outsiders-Will not stand in their way of the plan… To end this era of Heroes and Villains."
"What shall these ones do then?" Diamond asked, "The sun isn't due to rise in the next couple of hours."
"Sh-ould-" Hearts started to say before she gulped, "-The-se o-nes s-till wa-it f-or th-e su-n?"
Spades shook her head, in response. She snapped her fingers twice and the Styx's flinched at the sound. They all divided themselves leaving a pathway for them. "These ones can no longer wait-" Spades said, "-The outsiders forced their hands…" She soon turned to the other three, "... Strike from the darkness-Leave no survivors. And if they see Alice… Trap her-And take her as planned."
The three of them nodded before they followed Spades towards the main entrance of the building. The moment they reached the door, the Styx's resumed their previous positions, like nothing had happened.
Katsuki kicked the grate open as Reina and King entered what they could only believe to be one of the storage areas of the hotel; many of the boxes and crates were tossed over and empty, some had already been breaking apart and had been filled with cobwebs and rodents.
He got himself and Reina out of the vent as King followed before he looked around, and even peaked out of the room.
"Okay-" He said as he kept his voice low, "-It doesn't look like those guys are here yet."
Reina sighed as she attempted to collect her thoughts and keep herself calm. "... This can't be happening-" She said, "-Not again…"
"Hey-" He said as he took her arms, "-I know your scared right now-But you need to stay calm okay?"
"What do you think I'm trying to do?" Reina said before she showed him her hands. He could see them trembling violently. "It's just like back in Hosu-" She said, "-Except these guys… Are really out to kill me."
Katsuki took hold of her hands before he placed his head against her own to help her breathing become steady. He started to shush her gently, "I know, I know…"
"Katsuki-kun-You have no idea what that man can do-" Reina said as her voice shook, "-His Quirk-It can-"
"I know-" He said to her softly, "-I know." He soon had a thought come over him, "You managed to beat him before right?"
Reina looked to him shocked, "Wait, how did you-"
"I'll tell you later-" Katsuki told her, "-If worst comes to worst you can use whatever you did before right?!"
Reina soon looked nervous as she looked at her casted hand, arm and left brace, "I-I don't know." She replied honestly, "My wounds are still healing from last time, and-I'm still coming down from when I used it earlier… But-" She soon hugged herself, "Even if I could-I-It felt-Wrong since this was never-"
Reina immediately smacked her mouth shut as Katsuki only looked at her with confusion. "Since it was never-" Katsuki enunciated, "-What?"
Reina soon looked nervous as she could feel her anxiety rise again.
"Reina-" He said gently, as he noticed her look, "-What do you mean by that? Why would you think it felt wrong to use something that saved your life in the first place?"
She could feel her world start to crumble; she had told Izuku that she would take this secret to the grave if she had to. But like she had been possessed, she found herself speaking up without thinking.
"I-" She said hesitantly, "-I need to tell you something."
He had been taken back by this, "Tell me what exactly?"
"It's about what Izuku-kun said to you-" She said without thinking, "-After the combat training we had in our first class with All Might-"
"Deku? What does he have to do with-"
"That Quirk he told you about ! The one he said he borrowed! That wasn't a-"
Katsuki immediately shut her mouth the minute he heard a noise; King started to growl lowing when the sound of footsteps nearby. Katsuki quickly pulled her towards the boxes as they quickly remained still. Reina couldn't help but shake but Katsuki was quick to comfort her as he took her hand and gently as he shushed her before holding her close.
They could hear the men just outside the room talking to one another.
"This place is giving me the creeps…"
"This was the only place they wouldn't see us."
"Let's just find that damn brat and get the hell out of here."
Katsuki could feel Reina shake as she couldn't help but let out whimpers like she had been a wounded puppy. Katsuki gritted his teeth as he had decided, there was only one thing he could do. He took his blade as he had been ready to fight.
He gripped her hand, "Stay here-I'll take care of them."
"N-No please!" Reina begged softly as she hugged his arm stopping him, "Please no! Don't leave me!"
He could sense the fear in her voice and could even see it in her eyes. He could even feel how hard her body was shaking; his look had softened.
"Reina-" He thought, "It seems like you've gone from being afraid to terrified. I wonder how many times-You felt this scared for someone else's life?" He soon gave her a hug as she froze by the sudden gesture.
"I'll be right back-" Katsuki said, before he gave her a kiss on the cheek, "-I promise."
Reina couldn't say anything as he moved away from her before he went towards the men that had passed. Reina watched with worry she could only peek from behind where she hid. "Please be careful…" She said softly.
Katsuki kept low to the ground as the men rounded the corner. He readied his blade as it started to heat up of orange after he clenched his hand. When the men looked back, he quickly hid himself as he kept quiet. It had been red light and green light as everytime they looked back, he quickly hid himself.
"Now or never-" He told himself as he gripped his blade.
He soon made his move as he kept low to the ground; with the swing of his sword it had launched a curve-like blade towards their fit as it had been lit with flames. The two of them let out a shriek before he jumped towards them before he kicked the man in the head as it took his comrade back.
"Who the hell-?!" The man said as he went to attack Katsuki.
Katsuki had been quick to dodge before he hit the man with the handle of his sword as he knocked him over as he knocked him out instantly.
"That was easy." He said with a smile before-
BANG!
Katsuki had been sent hurtling to the ground as he could feel an open wound; he didn't realize that the guy he had knocked over had gotten back up. "YOU DAMN BRAT!" The gunman yelled before he stepped on his shoulder after kicking his weapon away before Katsuki could grab it.
"CRAP!" Katsuki exclaimed before he dodged an attack from the man.
"I DON'T KNOW WHO THE HELL YOU ARE-" The man yelled as he continued to attack him, though Katsuki was quick to dodge, "-BUT YOU'RE GONNA DIE TONIGHT!"
Katsuki clicked his tongue before he activated his Quirk. Using the explosions he was able to create a smoke screen after he caused a brief flash which caused him to cry out in shock and slight agony. Katsuki quickly used this as an opportunity to look for his weapon. Though it proved to be futile as he felt the man kick his stomach as he could feel himself hit the wall.
"You damn brat-" He said as Katsuki could feel the gun to his head, "-You think a flash bang like that is gonna get the better of me!?"
"Damn it all-" Katsuki growled, "--DON'T UNDERESTIMATE-"
Before he could thrust his hand towards the man but the man thought faster as he pinned his hand practically crushing it. "You just signed your own death here-" The man said as he armed his gun. He had been prepared to shoot him when suddenly-
"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM MY BOYFRIEND!"
Reina soon came charging at the man with her sheathed blade in hand, as she had been carrying with her the whole time. She smacked the man hard on the head before she kicked him off. Katsuki had seen Reina get angry before, but never before did he see such fire in her eyes. Could this be the Red Queen, had been the first thought he had asked himself.
Without realizing it, Reina started to beat the man despite him being down on the ground and pleading for mercy at that point, shocking Katsuki in general.
The man whimpered and cried, "ST-STOP IT! STOP IT!"
Katsuki noticed the expression in her eyes-They had been cold, and almost showed no signs of life. She spoke in something that had been almost familiar to him, "People who charge into kill-Should be prepared to die themselves. Maybe this will teach you the next time you decide to mess with him."
Much to Katsuki's horror she unsheathed her blade, as even King started to growl, this time it had been towards her.
"Of course-" She said as she readied to pierce his heart, "-I wasn't going to give you another opportunity to do so. Prepare to rot in hell-YOU IGNORANT SWINE."
The man only shrieked as he could only watch helplessly as Reina readied to kill him. "REINA!" Katsuki yelled as he took hold of her wrist. It seemed as though Reina had suddenly been brought back into reality as the cold look she had faded before it morphed into something fearful.
"O-Oh my God…" She stammered as he could feel her hand shake. The look in her eyes came back to her as she had been sweating up a storm; the man had passed out just from the sheer fright, "... Was-Was I-No-I wouldn't-I would never-"
"It's okay-" Katsuki said as he pried the sword away from her before he hugged her, "-It's okay."
Reina only hugged him back as she started to cry. King who had stopped growling went over to her as he leaned his body against her own. He could hear her whimper as he could feel her tremble in his arms. "I-I'm sorry-" She whimpered, "-I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to do it, I didn't mean to…"
"Reina, it's okay-" He said as he patted her back.
"No… No it's not…" She said, "... This is what I was scared of… I don't want to kill… I don't ever want to kill…"
"Hey-" He said as he got her to look at him; she saw the look in his eyes as they had been familiar, "-I'm not gonna let you do that. Like I said back in Hosu, I'LL be the one to stop you. No matter what-" He hugged her again, "-I won't let you fall to that place, okay?"
"Katsuki-kun…" Reina said softly as her eyes lit up slightly. For a moment he could've sworn her odd eyed color came back when she blinked, though-
"How touching is this-"
Her golden eyes returned at the sound of a familiar voice that sent a chill down her spine. Katsuki had a glare as a man, with a familiar purple arm came out from the shadows. He quickly put himself in front of Reina.
"The young lovers-reunited at last." Tau said as he gave a sneer. "Reminds me of my horndog of a brother and his wife."
"Tau-" Katsuki said as he gritted his teeth, "-Why am I not surprised?"
Reina soon noticed his arm as it sparked slightly, "O-Oh my God…"
"Like the handiwork you did the last time you saw me?" Tau said with a chuckle as he waved his aura arm, "I have to say it's a real improvement. I like to think I'm the only one in my family that can wield this ability with my aura! I could almost thank you for taking my arm from me. Emphasis on almost."
"Y-You mean-I did that to you?" She said horrified as she looked at her hands.
"I've already tested it on the way here." Tau said. "Those screams of those guards were simply a melody to my ears.I was thinking-" He smirked as he said, "how about i attempt to kidnap you again and I kill off those pests starting with my niece and the Aihara boy."
Reina only shrunk at this though Katsuki stood his ground. "You're not laying a finger on her trash." Katsuki said as his glare intensified.
"Oh? What will the knight do?" Tau said. "Blow me to Kingdom come?"
Reina took a deep breath before she brought up the courage to speak up, "Tau! Listen to me!" She said as Katsuki looked shocked at one point, "What my mom did to you, had NOTHING to do with me! And whoever my father is-If what you're saying is true and he really is alive, then you'd know he didn't have anything to do with it either! You have to let this all go before you end up doing something you'll regret!"
Tau had said to Reina unphased by her words as he only laughed, "Oh? And what makes you think I have regrets… Quite frankly the only one was letting you go. As for your father, he has A LOT to answer for. And once I'm through with you, I'll make sure he hears my message loud and clear."
"What?" Katsuki said, stunned, "Your dad?"
Reina sighed, "... I don't know if he's even telling the truth but-He said he knows the identity of my father. That-My mom chose him, over everyone else-" She soon gestured to Tau, "-Including him."
"Your father-Is alive-?" Katsuki said as he had processed it all before he turned his glare back to Tau, "-Tell her who he is."
"Katsuki-kun-" She said worriedly.
"NOW YOU BASTARD." Katsuki said as his hands sparked.
Tau had told him as his hand sparked, "and what if i don't? Afterall where's the fun in spoiling the surprise."
"Tau please!" Reina pleaded, "The last thing I want is more blood to spill! This madness has to stop! And I don't want to be forced to hurt you again!"
Tau only laughed at her pleas, "Your mother told me the exact same thing years ago, thinking that she could try and help a man like me…" His eyes glowed purple as he said "That type of naivety in a person is how people get hurt in the real world."
He got his hand readied to strike as Katsuki looked ready to defend Reina as she looked dejected by Tau's words.
"Why don't I show you what I mean-Little Witch?" Tau said with a malicious smile.
Tau son suddenly froze up slightly, as he felt a hand around his throat, as Katsuki and Reina looked shocked by who had appeared.
"I thought I told you old man-"
Tau turned before he was in the stomach; just as he recovered he soon felt a kick across the face as he hit the wall hard causing a wound to open up.
Dabi had stood before Tau as his hand had sparked with a familiar set of blue flames.
"-That as long as I'm alive-You wouldn't lay a finger on her." He said as he cracked his fingers.
"Dabi-kun!" Reina said with relief as her expression had lit up.
"Good thing I found you before you tried anything." Dabi said to Tau, "Because if I found her dead, I promise you-I'll make your death unimaginably worse then your victims."
Tau wiped away the blood as he said with a look, "Huh, Edgy. Good to see you're still alive." His hand began to glow as he made a palm, "That way-I can get rid of the obstacle that stands in the way of my prize."
"And I've got a bone to pick with you anyway." Dabi said, "So I guess it's a win-win for the both of us." He soon looked over to Katsuki in particular, as he only told him one thing.
"Take her and hide."
At that moment Katsuki had no hesitation as he gave a nod. He soon took her hand as he ran down the hall with her, as King followed behind the two of them; thus the three of them disappeared down the hall.
"Now that they're out of the way-" Dabi said, as his hands sparked once more, "-I don't have a reason to hold back."
"I don't expect you to in this second round." Tau said as his hand began to glow making a purple aura blade. "Of course, I'll be the same as well."
The two men soon readied themselves as they activated their Quirks. With only the growls from the Styx's outside, they soon charged as their attacks clashed, momentarily illuminating the hall of purple aura and blue flames.
