Two Chapters in one day!

This story honestly might be a bit of a slow burn. I don't like the stories where there is instant acceptance; and I do like to build the tension.

I'm still on the fence about where I want this to go, but the only thing that wont change is this is a Bella/Damon Fic.

Plus, who doesn't want to watch Bella and Damon slowly fall together?

Previously

Angela looked between the two as the waiter walked away. Worried Bella might bite a hole in her cheek from the way she gnawing on it.

DAMON

My sweet little doe. Damon thought to himself as he listened to their conversation. He doubted she remembered that he had heard most of the sob-story the night before.

"What am I supposed to do, Ange?" His little doe's words had made him clench his fist on the table as he watched the tears roll down.

History or not. How could he have let this delectable creature remain so helpless for so long. For the sake of her HUMANITY? This girl was a walking danger magnet, and the ex-had decided he still wanted her human. Another reason he felt not an ounce of regret for actually going through with it.

I would turn her in an instant. He thought to himself as the waiter came over and asked if he'd like anything. He'd told him that he was waiting on someone; only half paying attention to the conversation he was having as he focused his attention on his wife.

He decided that he'd had enough of being ignored and pushed away from his table to take a seat with Bella and her friend.

He realized quickly it was the same defensive tackle who had been keeping him at bay most of the night before. "Angela, is it?" he flashed a charming smile at the hesitant young woman, reaching out and patting her hand. Angela retracted her hand, still wary of him.

"It is." she quipped, looking to Bella who Damon noticed had taken to folding the edges of her napkin and let her hair fall between her and Damon like a curtain. This was a striking comparison to the spitfire he'd met the night before.

"what's wrong, dear?" He crooned, resting an arm on the table closest to Bella and leaning over towards her. She had stiffened slightly at the word dear but had also looked over to him through the mahogany curtain. Angela scoffed and rolled her eyes, but decided she would play along since Bella had mentioned she didn't even remember anything about him... Plus she truly was curious about the man.

"So. Damon." Angela spoke up, "I heard... You and Bella had an... eventful night last night." Damon smirked but kept his eyes on Bella. He was very much enjoying the way her eyes would look over to him only to find his gaze hadn't waivered, causing a blush to creep up her cheeks.

"Eventful is one way to put it." He murmured as he finally took his eyes off of Bella to turn to Angela. "I would say the most eventful part would be this morning, coming back to my hotel from running errands and taking a phone call only to find my bride had fled."

He noticed with delight that Bella's head had begun to lift had he spoke, realizing his eyes were off of her. "I like to think of myself as an attractive man, Isabella." He turned to her with a teasing tone. She held his gaze, he noted with approval. "Worthy of at least a goodbye."

He frowns when the first words out of Bella's mouth were "How can you be so nonchalant?! We got married." She had whispered the word married as though someone might chastise her.

"Exactly, little doe. Married." He said the word louder than necessary. Despite the fact that he knew deep down somewhere he was just trying to over-prove that he was moving on from Elena, and despite the fact that he was 80 percent sure that she didn't even remember the reasoning behind why she had asked him to get married, it still struck him wrong that she wanted to be so quiet.

The energy at the table had shifted to something else. Unsure of what it was but knowing it was definitely only between the two of them, Angela simply sat back as they stared each other down. If there was anything to be said by Bella, she didn't get the chance. The waiter had come with their shots and drinks.

BELLA

Lunch came and went tensely, with mostly Angela talking with Damon and Bella listening quietly and making an occasional comment. Damon, of course, had taken care of the bill and was hot on Bella's heels as they made their way out of the restaurant. The only time he had sped ahead of them was to open the door for both ladies to come through.

The three of them stayed outside on the sidewalk for a long while in silence. Angela staring at Damon, Damon staring at Bella, and Bella staring at the toes of her sneakers.

"Well." Damon spoke up finally, breaking the silence. "This lunch was fabulous ladies. Angela if I may, I have to insist that Bella and I take a moment alone."

Bella's eyes shot up between the two who were now staring at each other unwaveringly. A silent conversation seemed to be happening and Bella felt the corner of her mouth twitch as she fought a smile. Angela would nev-

"That's fine." Angela answered much to Bella's dismay. "You have until 4. Or I'll call the police." She threatened him, a fierce look in her eyes that Bella was not used to seeing on her friend.

"You're just going to leave us alone?!" Bella's voice came out shriller than she'd intended, and she could see the smirk already poised on Damon's face.

Eventually, painfully quietly, they'd made their way to a bar in the mall; Blondies. They had settled at a table with a beer for each of them. Bella staring at the carbonation like she wanted it to bubble up and over the rim of the glass and carry her away.

DAMON

"Say something," Damon eventually snapped, growing tired of playing the nice game. He regretted it instantly, however, when her slight frame flinched.

Well, now you're an ass. He thought to himself. He had been about to apologize when her eyes suddenly snapped to his, her face askew is annoyance.

"Say what, Damon?" Her tone as sharp as the emotion her face held. "Say hey, I know we got married last night." he didn't fail to notice the way she was mocking the tone and volume he had said it earlier with. However, she failed to turn the volume of her voice down and continued on in an almost shout.

"I know we got married last night and all, but I actually JUST broke up with my boyfriend three days before this trip because he didn't want the same shit as me, so an annulment makes sense because we broke up over the fact that I told him I didn't think I WANTED to get married... Oh, and he said I had to marry him so I can experience more human things before-" she stopped herself, realizing in her frantic ranting she'd been about to repeat what he'd been told last night.

The annoyance and anger were radiating off of her so intensely Damon briefly wondered what would happen if she put that emotion to other uses. His shit-eating grin only seemed to taunt her.

"There's that spitfire I married." was all he said before he took a drink of his beer, watching her with amusement as that seemed to deflate her.

He could address the implied ending of her sentence later, farther from prying eyes, he decided.

"Also, would it kill you to actually re-get to know me before you decide asking me to marry you was a bad choice?" One of his brows arching quizzically as he stared her down. Indignation inflated her chest once more and her chin tilted up, a frown playing on her lips "I did NOT ask you."

He didn't answer, only stared at her with his brow raised. After a moment's thought she sat back and peered up at him through her lashes.

"I asked you to marry me?" She said quietly after a moment.

Damon almost didn't even hear her say it, his jaw tense as he took her in. He was absolutely fucking screwed if she ever learned what that expression did to him. He ended up stuck in his own thoughts from the night before.

*FLASHBACK*

If he had been buzzed by the time Bella showed up to light up his night, he was bordering drunk now.

How could a human possibly consume so much alhcocol? Even his thoughts were screwing up words. Although, he had been mixing the last few whiskey shots with blood when no one was looking.. So that may have had something to do with the state he found himself in.

"You know, doll face," he had begun musing to her as they finished yet another shot and started to walk out of the bar, Damon purposefully steering them around the feminine defensive tackle that had been on their ass all night. "I've heard what oyu haveto say about this ex and I gotta be real. What's he got that I don't?" he teased her, leaning closer to her and snaking an arm around her waist. Fuck, she smelled amazing.

She had looked around as though checking to see it was indeed them alone in the hallway they had wandered into. "He'sgot forever." she had slurred/whined, stamping her foot childishly as Damon swung them around so she was no longer under his arm, but in the grasp of both his hands. He had started to slowly back her towards the wall. She was too drunk to realize that Damon had begun to run his nose along her jawline, freely gulping down as much of her scent as he could.

Committing it to memory in case he accidentally killed her. He truthfully hadn't decided whether he was about to take her here in the hallway; or if this was one of his most elaborate games he'd ever played with his food.

"Forever for what?" He had all but purred against the junction where her jaw met her neck. She'd become hyper aware of his hands on her hips and her back against the wall, tilting her had back subconsciously and dragging her hands up his arms to pull at his shoulders. He could feel the familiar tingling sensation as his venom began to cloud his eyes and the veins in his face.

Had his face not been glued to her neck, now nipping its way to her jugular, she would have had to good sense to be terrified. Instead, Bella had stopped even paying attention to their conversation. It was only background noise to her fogged brain. She pushed her hips into his, her hands grappling at his leather jacket for an anchor in the now spinning room. "To live of course. And he won't even change me."

His erection and venom dissipated almost immediately as he registered his words. "Change you, little doe?" He kept his mouth to her neck, realizing if he kept her in this state; what need would he have to compel her? Of course, he'd be drawn to the only chick in Vegas who likely knew about vampires.

"I want forever too." Her voice was breathless and she began to squirm against him as Damon's thumb had rubbed slow, purposeful circles on her hip. "But I don't want to get married human. I don't want to grow old while He's 17 forever.. Plus, there's the matter of... my needs.."

"He wants to keep you human?" Damon had tried to poise the question innocently enough but the way his body had tense and his hands on her hips had gripped just a little too tightly made Bella pull her head back shyly. He was beginning to get the impression that his poor little minx had been deprived of those needs.

"He wants to save my soul." Her meek answer reached his ears and Damon couldn't stop the groan that escaped as he studied the way she had looked up at him through her lashes.

Fuck her soul, I'm about to give her forever to keep her for myself. He'd thought to himself as he stared down at her.

She'd bit her lower lip, and those things added to the scent of her arousal in the air had been enough for him to decide that he wanted to pick the unforeseen third option and keep her.

*END FLASHABCK*

AN:

Yay! I got to add a little steam. Even if its just a flashback.

I know someone said that Damon would be surprised when he found out she knew about vampires, but in my head, I think it only made sense to me for him to already know pretty much everything about Bella's story.

He can definitely understand the feeling of wanting something with someone only for that person to put what they want first instead. Or to promise something and not mean it the way Edward's been leading her on. Plus, it makes Bella yet another brown eyes brunette he thinks he can't have; which drives him more to want her. We all know how childishly he can act.

He doesn't know it yet but it's another reason he's drawn to Bella and has this intense need to fix it for her.
