AN:

Thank you for everyone who's keeping up with the story and for those of you who have save my story!

Please, let me know what you think!

Bella

Bella woke with a jolt, grasping at the satin sheets that were now familiar.

I've got to stop waking up in this room. She thought to herself humorlessly. She noted with great concern that she was no longer in her shorts and top from earlier, but in a soft pair of pajama shorts and a button up top.

She could hear voices, she realized as she slipped nearly silently from the bed and made her way to the closed door. Slowly, she leaned in towards to door to listen better.

"Damon, honestly, what were you thinking?" A distinctly feminine voice nearly shouted.

"Elena, Lighten up. We both know I wasn't. I saw a Damsel; she was in distress. I decided to help her." Damon's bitter tone shocked her as she listened, the clinking of something being poured the only other sound in the room for the moment before he continued, His tone mocking. "We both know that's my thing. No matter the personal cost."

Great, now he's in there complaining about this. I knew it. Pitiful, inconvenient hum-

Her bitter thoughts were cut short but the woman, Elena, scoffing her reply.

"Damon, it's not the same thing. And you know that. You knew we were on that trip to find Stefan for me. To bring him home from Klaus." It was followed closely by a male voice. She missed the first part of the sentence due to how they had spoken over each other, but the end she'd heard crystal clear.

"Does she know what we are, Damon?" At that her heart stopped momentarily and her breath caught. Surely, she'd not taken a break from the supernatural to clear her head and get a grip, only to find herself again tangled intimately with it? Besides, what else was there? Pixies? They weren't cold like Edward and his family...

Damon wasn't running at 103 like Jacob; though his touch had felt like it.

She took a step back in shock just in time for the door to slam open against the wall. "Well, brother, if she didn't have any suspicions before she does now." Damon's voice registered in her ears as she continued to reel back, taking in the green-eyed man before her. He was about the same height as Damon, broader in the shoulders and currently glaring down at her. Damon's brother had yet to move, only watched as Bella backed herself into the corner of the room; wedging in the small gap between the nightstand and the wall.

"Who are you?" Meek and trepid, she hardly recognized her own voice. She was suddenly reminded of her time running from James, the tone in her voice reminding her of the fear that had gripped her throat in that ballet studio. If she was scared then, she was terrified now.

His silence hung heavily in the air, Elena and Damon apparently silent as they waited. Probably listening. Elena broke it first. "Stefan? What's Wrong?"

Damon's soft "Shit" not registering in her ears.

She was unaware that the reason for his cursing was the fact that instead of looming in the doorway, Stefan had suddenly move to Bella's side in a blur, ripping the curtain, that had been closed while she slept, open. She shrunk further back, unable to even scream in surprise at the suddenness of his movements. She was only barely aware of the light now blinging her before they attempted to adjust so she could see where the brother had gone. The were fast, like them.

As suddenly as he was at her side, he was gone. Elena suddenly shouted as there was a loud crash and snarling from the other room. Bella Held her breath and tried to think of a way for her to run again, but for some reason the thought of running again from Damon made very little sense to her. Chalking it up to morbid curiosity, she stepped out of her small corner, going for the door that had nearly slammed back shut.

DAMON

This isn't going to end well. Damon had thought to himself before his brother had slammed him into the glass coffee table, grunting as he pushed up at Stefan's shoulders to get his little brother off of him. He quickly straightened himself upright, once his brother did move off of him, as Elena ran to Stefan .

Damon had to fight the urge to roll his eyes as she checked him over. "He hit me." The two ignored him, Stefan glaring murderously at him.

"Are you SERIOUS right now?" came Stefan's 'I'm-mad-and-you-should-be-scared' voice that only irritated Damon.

"Stefan, calm down!" Elena was shouting. Their chaos interrupted by the soft pitter patter of feet across the rug from the corner of the bedroom accompanied shorty after by the creak of the bedroom door reopening after it had bounced closed with the force that Stefan had slammed it.

Damon could hardly suppress the Cheshire grin that stretched across his face seeing his little doe peeking out from the doorway with wide eyes. He had to admit, he had known Bella looked like Elena, it was part of the first thing that had attracted him to her when he turned to her the other night in the bar.

Seeing them staring across from each other though in mirror expressions of shock, he couldn't help but realize the subtle difference. Bella was nearly as tall as Elena, however, Bella's ass was way better. Probably all the running from Cold Ones she did.

He and Stefan watched the two girls stare at each other. Bella's shock had given was to curiosity, Elena's had given away to anger. "What the hell, Damon?!" She shouted, striding over to him and shoving his chest.

"What, Princess? Can't handle not being the only woman in the Salvatore brother's lives?" Something akin to rage shone momentarily, though it was quickly put out at the sound of Elena's voice.

"You can't see that you just went after someone who looks like my twin?" Elena's voice little more than a sneer at this point. She shoved him again with the word twin.

Damon had yet to break his gaze from Bella's, though he did allow himself a step back at the force of Elena's shove. "It would appear, maybe you just aren't that special princess. You're just my type." He shifted his gaze to Elena at that part; enjoying the hurt that flashed in her eyes as she retreated to Stefan's arms entirely too much.

BELLA

Her twin? Sure, they looked alike but Bella was nowhere near that pretty. Her hair the wrong shade, her hips too wide, eyes much darker. There was no way Elena could think that Damon was looking for her in Bella's looks.

She recognized suddenly the hurt behind his joy as Elena stepped backwards into the arms of Damon's brother, Stefan.

A love triangle if I've ever seen one. She thought dryly to herself, watching the looks Damon and Stefan were exchanging over the woman's head.

A love triangle, and it looked like he was Jacob. Her heart felt a pang at the realization. Jacob... Angela.. Holy shit Angela!

"Damon?" She waited for him to tear his eyes from the mental battle he was having with his brother before she continued. "Where did my phone go?"

If Damon was as aware as she was that his brother and the brother's girlfriend were staring open and intensely at them, he didn't let on.

"It's on the counter, charging." He murmured quietly as he moved towards her. "Angela brought it yesterday when you... fell asleep... after that phone call." He was speaking slowly, studying her expression for something.

Phone call? Her face thoughtful for a moment before it blanched. "Th-that really happened?" She asked him weakly, frowning deeply as she recalled the way Damon had hung up on Edward.

"Yeah, good thing she brought the charger too cause that ex of yours is persistent. Killed your phone calling and texting you so many times." he had led her by the small of her back to the bar, pulling a chair out for her and helping her into it. "I don't think you should check it, Isabella."

She ignored the goosebumps that raised along her arms at the sound of her full name from his mouth, and held her hand out expectantly. She scrolled quickly, wincing at all of the missed calls and voicemails. The texts she could hardly stand to read. They went from pleading to angry and back.

A few were from Alice, assuring her that Edward wouldn't be showing up, one from Angela telling me that the bridal party had left now that the weekend was over; and that I was to call her if anything else happened.

Another moment or two she sent off a few replies and set the phone face down in front of her. She realized suddenly that they'd all be staring at her. A little too intently.

A deep scarlet blush flashed across her face, suddenly hyper aware of her posture and straightening up, crossing her legs and smoothing the pajama shirt she was wearing.

She suddenly realized something, and looked over to Damon. "What did he mean," She pointed to his brother. "Do I know what you are?"

Damon hesitated as he poured himself another glass of smelled like whiskey.

"Come sit, little doe." Damon gently pulled her up from her chair and sat her on the couch, shooting her brother a glare as he and Elena settled on a loveseat nearby. "I should start with the basics."

*Little Time Skip*

Bella sat back when they had finished explaining.

"So... Vampires... Witches... Doppelgängers..." She was thoughtful, looking at the broken table in front of her unseeingly.

They sat silently, irritation on Elena's face as she watched Bella absorb the information.

"I don't even understand why you bothered to explain any of this, Damon." She interrupted the silence, Bella looking over at her as she spoke. "You're going to compel her to forget all of this," She waved around at the hotel room and the three of them. "Then we can go back home and forget that this happened."

Bella had been about to speak when Damon spoke up, his tone calm but laced with something that made the hair on the back of her neck stand.

"You're very good at that, Elena. Forgetting."

Bella straightened her back suddenly, having heard enough of them argue over her the way the Cullens did. With more confidence that she actually possessed, she stood up between the three of them; glass crunching under the sneakers she wore.

"No one wants to ask what I want?" The statement was made to sound general, but her eyes were locked with Elena's as she spoke; who also had risen from her seat and stepped toward Bella.

DAMON

"No," He watched Elena quip, giving a finally shake of her head. "You knowing puts you, us, and all our friends in danger. Honestly, Damon," She rounded on him suddenly, disapproval heavy in her tone.

"You want to hurt me so badly you would risk an innocent human life?"

Yes. "No, I happen to be completely enthralled by Isabella. Besides, it's not her first encounter with the supernatural, is it little doe?"

All eyed turned expectantly to Bella, who had started opening and shutting her mouth soundlessly before finally speaking. "How did you... No, it's not." Was all she finally decided to say.

He could practically see Elena's dissatisfaction with Bella's answer. "Exactly." He said swiftly, jumping up from the couch at a pace that wouldn't scare Bella, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and nestling her into his side.

"It's settled."

AN: Sorry this one was short! I am trying to figure out how to branch this out without it being overwhelming, and also deciding if I want them to go to forks or mystic falls, or maybe both. I also didn't want to make their meeting as dramatic as it was in my head. I feel like there will be plenty of time to sneak Elena's selfishness and self absorption in over the course of the story.

Let me know what y'all think! Already working on the next chapter so it will likely be up soon. Tomorrow afternoon or night.
