"Hey, Kit. Man, yar wife is here." Charlie said as he was grabbing his things to head out for the night.

"I ain't his wife yet, Charlie." Jude smirked, patting his shoulder as he walked over to her. "He hasn't even given me a decent proposal, despite his many attempts. Until he does, I'll keep sayin' no."

Kit chuckled with a shake of his head at the smug look on Jude's face. Her hair was pulled back and tied just above the nape of her neck. She stood in the middle of the garage in a loose, almost beachy dress that seemed to get shorter every time she wore it. She also wore a pair of short-heeled brown boots that they'd gotten for one of their date nights on the town. A pair she wore almost every time she went outside the house now. He couldn't blame her. Her legs were phenomenal, but they were killers in heels.

Charlie wrapped his arms around Jude's waist, teasing Kit. "He better hurry up. Someone might come and snatch you up, Jude. Hell, I might come and steal ya away."

"Alright," Kit walked towards them, knowing it was fun and games. "Hands off my girl, 'kay?"

Jude giggled as Charlie stepped away and Kit pulled her to his chest. "Goodnight, Charlie."

"Goodnight, gorgeous." Charlie smiled, slapping his cap onto his head before pointing at Kit. "Marry this woman."

"It ain't like I ain't tryin'." Kit winked before waving him off. "Go ahead and lock up. I'll be a little bit yet." When Charlie left, closing the door behind him, he gazed down at Jude. "Sorry, darlin'. I've still got a few things left to do. Rob's coming in the morning right away to pick this up. I've been spending all day on it."

Jude shrugged, pecking his lips. "That's okay. I can hang around. It's too quiet at the house with the kids out with their friends anyway. Funny. When they were younger, I loved the few hours they were at school. I got so much done around the house. Now, they're older. I don't know what to do with myself."

"Older? No. Ya just turned'em into social little butterflies, and now they ain't around as much." Kit held her tighter against him, kissing her temple. "They still can't make me breakfast. They still kids, Jude."

"No, ya healed me. If anything, ya raised'em right. I just showed them what ya taught me." Jude murmured.

Kit shook his head. "Stop it, Jude. Ya know damn well ya did just as much for'em as I did." He pressed his forehead to hers. "Ya mean the world to all of us. Now, what's really going on? Yar down in the dumps."

Jude sighed, pulling away from Kit and walking towards the car he was working on. She leaned back against the hood, crossing her arms over her chest. "As the kids were leaving today, the phone started ringing. So, I picked it up. It's our phone." She huffed out a breath. "It was Lana, Kit. I think she recognized me."

"Well, I'll call her back and make up something." Kit shrugged, a slight frown deepening his features. "I'm not letting her come around here with that camera to humiliate ya again. What she did- Jude, she left ya there!"

"I know, but I put her in there." Jude retorted. "I admitted her to keep her quiet, and she ended up with the killer I thought you were. She got pregnant by that sick, sick son of a bitch. I did that to her."

Kit shook his head, stepping into her space and pressing his hands against the hood on either side of her hips. "No, he did that. Ya didn't know, darlin'. And, ya helped get her out. She came back and filmed ya and did nothing to get ya out." He wrapped his arms around her, stepping further into her space. "I got ya out, and I ain't letting her take ya away from me for some reporter bullshit." He knew hearing Lana's voice would've put her right back in the asylum. Of course, she felt guilty. Any normal person would, but Jude felt it so deeply. It made her consider things she wouldn't under any other circumstances, questioning if she should've just stayed in that asylum as punishment for what she'd done and unknowingly helped. "Nobody is taking ya away from me, Jude."

Jude shook her head against his chin, her breath hitting his neck and chest. "I don't know. Charlie might just sweep me off my feet one of these days."

Kit chuckled, relieved when he felt her smile against his skin. "Hey," she met his eyes, "I love you."

"I love you too." Jude breathed before his lips met hers. She continued to chuckle when his hands traveled to her thighs and lifted them, his hips pinning hers against the hood of the car behind her. "Kit, baby, pretty sure the owner of this car didn't ask for these kinds of fluids."

"Then, I'll throw it in for free." Kit mused, rocking his hips against hers. She bit her lip and dropped her head back when his erection rubbed against her clit between his jeans and her panties. "I only cum to ya to get my fix, and my engine is running just fine."

Jude nodded, puffing out a breath between her lips. "I can feel that. As much as I'd love to give ya a tune up, I want ya to finish the car and then take me home where ya can get a full body inspection done." She grinned when he groaned into her neck, bucking against her hips. "Pretty sure it's an all night job. Can't let ya go around without preparing for any unexpected rough rides."

Kit kissed behind her ear. "Should probably check ya out too. With everything ya do, I gotta make sure your framework can handle the many, many, many trips around my town. In every gear."

It was Jude's turn to thrust her hips against his, biting her bottom lip. "My framework is as sturdy as a brick house."

"I look forward to testing that out." Kit nipped at her neck.

Jude grinned and peppered kisses on his cheek, over his temple, and to his forehead. "Well, you've got the wrecking ball." She pulled back though, tugging her thighs out of his hands and setting her feet back on the floor. "I'll face both of them when ya fix this car."

Kit feigned heartache as she stepped away from him, resting against the driver's door with a devious and flushed face. "Ya kill me, but that was a nice one." He grabbed his tools again, tipping one towards her as if toasting her. "Give me an hour."

"Ya've got me yar whole life, Kit. One hour watching ya work on a car. . ." Jude looked him up and down, smirking to herself, "isn't a bad way to spend my time." She turned her attention to the car though, letting her fingers graze along the framework as Kit returned to his work under the hood. "It is a pretty car though. I'm sure Rob treats it like his baby."

"He treats it better than he treats his wife." Kit sighed as he stretched further into the engine. "But, that's not saying much. The shiner she had at the Christmas party wasn't from no doorknob." He glanced up at Jude as she rounded the trunk of the car. "Didn't he hit on ya at that party?"

Jude nodded, crossing her arms over her chest. "Yeah, I'd overheard a conversation a few feet away. He asked me if I could still hear that well if my knees were by my ears." She rolled her eyes. "It's not a bad flirt, just something ya would say closer to taking a girl home." She leaned down to be on Kit's level, resting her forearms against the car just under the hood. "But, he hit on everyone at that party. Poor Lorraine was too afraid to speak up for herself."

"Poor Lorraine probably doesn't think things could be better." Kit concluded. "Her old man was the same way. Womanizer. I only met him a couple times, but he hit on anything in a skirt and used his fists instead of his words to get what he wanted." He shook his head. "Compared to her father, she might think she has it better with Rob."

"Or, she might think she deserves it. If ya aren't in a good place, it's easy to think that way." Jude stated, briefly thinking about a few bad relationships that had managed to outlive a one night stand. She reached out, pinching Kit's cheek gently. "Ya need the right guy to show ya otherwise."

Kit smirked as he reached back into the car. "Well, since you're so interested in Charlie, maybe I should go help out Lorraine."

Jude gaped with a grin, standing up and tugging on his belt loops. "Not on yar life." She giggled when Kit's arms wrapped back around her waist, pulling her close as their lips met. "I'd chain ya to the bed if ya ever tried leaving me."

Kit grinned, lowering the hood before hoisting Jude up on it. He moved between her legs, letting his fingertips tickle the outsides of her thighs and tease to pull up the hem of her dress. "I'm going to need that in writing. My lawyers will make sure ya follow through with it."

"I'll draft something up tomorrow." Jude giggled as he pecked her lips again. "Kit, this car's never gonna get fixed if we keep doin' this."

Kit was about to say something about fixing the car after fixing her, but his attention was diverted to the garage phone blaring in the office. He pecked her lips again, his nose briefly brushing against hers. "Hold that thought." He took wide strides to the office, quickly picking up the phone. "Hello?"

"Kit?"

Kit closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Lana, is that you? What on Earth are ya doing calling me down at the garage?" He glanced up to see Jude step just inside the small and crowded room, her shoulder leaning up against the doorframe. Unlike the spark she had in her eyes just a moment ago, he could see the fear and anxiety start to creep into those brown orbs, forcing her body rigid. Her invisible shield was being put up before his very eyes.

"Well, I called the house and got a hold of a woman." Lana explained. "Next time I tried the house, there was no answer. Hasn't been for a couple hours. I was starting to wonder what was happening. I was worried you'd up and moved on me without a word."

"Now, why would I do that?" Kit asked. "My girl must've picked up the phone. I told ya she was living with me a while ago."

"Kit, your girl sounds an awful lot like Judy Martin."

Kit knew Jude had heard that. The phone may have been pressed to his ear, but the speaker was loud and clear. "Ya think everyone sounds like her, Lana." He groaned inwardly when Jude stepped away from the office, aimlessly circling around the garage. "But, how are ya, Lana? What can I do for ya?"

"I'm doing well. I'm sure you've heard about my new television broadcast." Lana mentioned not so subtly. "But, I wanted to see if it was alright to stop by on the kids' birthdays. I know they're next week, and it's a little short notice. But, I do have presents." She waited a moment, nearly holding her breath. "C'mon, Kit, I haven't seen them in nearly a year and a half. Well, since your girlfriend came to live with you really."

Kit scratched the back of his head. "Well, we've got something special planned for their birthday. If you want to visit though. . .this weekend would be best. How about Saturday?"

Jude listened as Kit made arrangements for Lana to come Saturday a little before noon. Depending on where her next story was, it could turn into an overnight visit. She bit her lip wondering what she and Kit were going to do. Kit wanted to shield her, wanted to hide her from Lana. She felt the same way, but there was another part nagging at her that she swore she would never be put away like someone who needed to be hidden. The tug of war in her mind must've put a worried look on her face because Kit came back with his own stressed expression. "She's coming."

"Saturday, yeah." Kit nodded before gesturing to the office. "I can cancel though, Jude. Ya mean more to me."

"No, the babies would be upset if she didn't come around for their birthdays." Jude breathed with a shake of her head. She bit her lip, gazing up at him. "She's gonna find out I'm alive, Kit."

Kit shook his head. "We can figure something out. I ain't gonna let her use ya for some publicity stunt of hers."

Jude stepped closer to him, resting her hands on his hips. "She'll know something's wrong if she arrives and yar girlfriend isn't there to introduce herself." She pressed her forehead to his. "If she comes with a camera guy, we'll come up with a plan. If she comes alone, we can at least try to explain things to her." She could feel Kit about to disagree but pecked his lips to silence him. "I don't wanna hide if I can help it, baby."

"I don't wanna hide ya." Kit murmured softly, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer. "Ya sure ya wanna do this?"

"No," Jude shook her head, "but we can't avoid her forever." She pulled back slightly, cupping his face in her hands tenderly before glancing back at the car he'd been working on. "I'm distracting ya. I should just head home."

Kit shook his head. "No, I'll finish it up. As much as I want to get underneath yar skirt, I don't want Rob to drive around in a car that we shared." He kissed her temple. "I'll try to keep my hands to myself. . .until I'm finished."

Jude giggled, crossing her arms over her chest as he moved back to the hood of the car and was viewing the engine once again. "And, once yar finished?"

Kit had to take a deep breath at her baited question. He'd been holding back since she arrived. He'd nearly taken her on the hood of the car twice already, imagined what it'd be like to be driving it himself and have her crawl into his lap because she just couldn't wait to get home. As much as he went out during his school days, he'd never taken a girl in the backseat of a car, and he could practically hear Jude's moans as he drove into her, their heat fogging up the windows. Hell, he even thought about bending her over the rear end of the car just to take her as easily as possible. Like he had said, he didn't want to give a car back to someone when he shared a special moment in it with Jude, even if it was as simple as taking her from behind and watching the car rock to match his thrusts inside her. But, the temptress she was always had him thinking about when he would get his next moment with her. "Do ya remember those scarfs I got ya?"

Jude flushed hot just at the mention of them. She'd never worn them, even when winter came to their little town, due to the fact he first used them on her birthday. After she had fallen asleep in his embrace, she woke up in the middle of the night to find her limbs tied to the bedrails and Kit hovering over her like she was his next meal. She had her own teeth marks on her arm for a week trying to muffle her cries and whimpers as his mouth worked between her legs. He'd had matching marks on his shoulder when he climbed over her to slip inside her himself. He complained about the ache in his shoulder that whole week, but the smirk that covered his lips told her he was anything but annoyed. "I remember them." She said simply enough, nearly a breath on her lips.

Kit smiled hearing the effect he was having on her as well, but he kept his head ducked near the engine. "Yar not gonna feel anything but me once I'm done with ya."

Jude padded out of Thomas's room, gently closing the door behind her before finding Kit standing by the kitchen sink. "I think they're both down for the night." She leaned against the fridge, giving him a small, tired smile. "Ya ready for bed?"

"Almost." Kit nodded before setting down the glass he'd had just drained. He walked over to her, planting his lips on hers abruptly and nearly pinning her against the fridge. She gasped into his mouth, startled by the sudden assault on her mouth. His actions to her lips were quickly forgotten though when his hand slipped under the waistband of her pajama pants, fingers quickly teasing her core through her panties. He kissed up her jaw, his fingers applying more pressure as he went, until he reached her ear. "There's just something I wanna do first."

"Fuck, Kit." Jude breathed, her jaw dropping when he just barely swiped her folds. She leaned into his body, gripping his arm as her head rested against his jaw. "Ya sure don't waste time."

"It's never wasted with ya." Kit grinned. He was just about to thrust two fingers into her when headlights flashed across the wall behind the fridge. It was faint with the kitchen light on, but he knew someone had just driven up to the house. "Someone's here."

Jude was about to joke around, thinking he was referring to something sexual, when she heard the car engine outside. "Who would be here at this hour?"

Kit pulled his hand out of her pants before grabbing his pocket knife from on top of the fridge. "I'm gonna go see. Ya remember what to do if things go bad, right?"

"Grab the kids and go to the neighbors." Jude nodded as he forced her back into the hallway. "And, take the gun."

Kit nodded before cupping the back of her head and kissing her forehead. "I'll let you know if it's alright." He left her in the hallway, heading for the front door when he heart the engine outside cut off. Turning on the porch light, he slowly opened the door, squinting against the still shining headlights, before he saw their guest walk around the car so the lights could show their identity. Despite his stomach dropping seeing who it was, he sighed in relief. Taking a step back into the house, he peered over at Jude. "It's Lana."

Jude's shoulder dropped, her hand covering her chest as her whole body relaxed a little bit. "Ya said Saturday. She's here almost two days early." She walked over to the front door, remaining in the shadows as Kit stepped out on the front porch.

"Lana, what the hell? Ya nearly gave me a heart attack. And, I think ya got yar days mixed up, because it's Thursday." Kit smiled gently at his friend. "I couldn't even prepare myself for ya."

"Why do you think I came now?" Lana chuckled, meeting him on the stairs and hugging him. "Besides," she reached into her bag slung over her shoulder, pulling out a bottle of whisky, "pretty sure drinking in front of the kids would be frowned upon. C'mon, you, me, and this girlfriend of yours you never shut up about. Surprised you haven't married her."

Kit knew Jude was smirking, muffling her snicker, just a few feet away. "I've been trying." He glanced towards her car, jutting his chin towards it. "It's just you, right? No reporting, no cameras. This is a stay just for you?"

Lana frowned, a smile still remaining on her lips. "Why do I feel like I should've brought a camera?"

"I can't let ya come in if yar gonna be reporting, Lana. I just can't. My family have been through too much, and we're happy with how things are." Kit breathed, dropping his arms from her. "I know it's yar job, yar life's mission and all, but I can't let ya in if yar gonna take notes and try to market some story. I wouldn't forgive ya for it, and I wouldn't forgive myself if I let ya."

Lana glanced inside the house, sensing someone was standing just inside, but she quickly peered back up at Kit. "Alright, Kit. I promise. Just me. What's going on?" Her eyes widened when the person inside stepped out onto the porch and grabbed Kit's hand. "Sister Jude?"
