Chapter 2: Gohma the Spider Monster

Link was being bullied by Mido and his gang again.

"You can't enter fairy less boy!" Mido said coldly.

"Yeah, this for real Kokiri, you don't have one!"

"So get lost, half-native boy!"

"I can enter here anytime I want!" Link protested.

"I'm the boss of the Kokiri, so I decide what's going on here!" Mido smirked. "Honestly, a fairy will never come to you because you're a freak."

That caused Link to shove him, then both were wrestling like kids, then Mido's fairy dashed the blond kid in the face and caused him to fall in a nearby pond.

"Damn, that's cheating!" He yelled, rubbing his forehead where the Mido's fairy tackled him.

Mido just smirked at the blond boy along with his thugs. "Cheating, fairies are a part of the Kokiri Tribe, so I-"

"HEY!" A voice rang out.

It was the Great Deku Tree, the guardian spirit of the Kokiri Forest, he didn't look too happy. "What are you doing?"

"Crap, he found ous out!"

Mido and his thugs along with their fairies were startled, then a flash they retreated, but not before the so-called boss Mido, made a face at LInk. "Fairy less!"

Link was angrier than before, however, he felt so down in the dumps now.

The Great Deku Tree sensed the boy's hurtfulness. "Cheer up, Link, forget what Mido said."

Despite the comforting words, Link looked at the guardian tree with a sad expression. "Great Deku Tree, why am I so different from the others?"

"I will tell you when the time is right," The Great Deku Tree assured.

That made Link more down as he turned his head away. "That's what you always say."

Then a green-haired female Kokiri approached the boy with a greeted smile. "Link!"

"Saria!" The sadness that the boy felt was soon put aside and a bright smile took place on his face. "Great timing, there's something I want to show you!"

Saria was eager to know. "What is it?"

Link showed a slingshot. "Ta-da, I made it!" He handed it over to green-haired Kokiri, who was observing it curiously.

"How do you use it?"

Link was happy to show her. "Let me show you." He pulled the string. "Like this, you shoot down the fruits that you can't reach!"

He fired a Deku seed and shot down a fruit that was high up.

Saria was amazed and impressed at the same time. "Wow, awesome, let me try!"

Mido and his gang were watching through some bushes, the Kokiri leader looked at the two in jealousy. "Look at that guy... being all lovey-dovey with Saria again!"

But before he could do anything, he felt a Deku seed hit him in the face, seemingly knocking him out, which took Saria and Link by surprise.

A short time later.

Mido and his thugs left, leaving Link along with Saria and her fairy.

Link sat on a tree stump while Saria sat on a log.

"Coming up with something like this... You're something, Link." Saria was praised greatly.

Link was fixing the string on his slingshot as he listened to his friend's words. "I'm weird after all, but I guess that's the reason why no fairy comes to me."

Then he looked at Saria, who had a bright smile on her face. "That's not at all, even if you don't have a fairy, you're still my very best friend, Link, Okay?"

The blond boy smiled a little. "Right..."

Eventually, Saria started to play her Ocarina, which Link was happy to hear.

"Let's dance to Saria's Ocarina!"

After they were done dancing, they sat down again, that's when Link decided to talk more of his dreams. "By the way, I've been having the same dream over and over lately."

Saria listened to her best friend's story. "The sky is pitch-black, I'm standing in front of a huge house... with a peaked roof."

Saria had a good idea of what her friend was describing. "Hmmm... A castle, maybe?"

Link looked at his friend in question. "A castle, what's that, something deep in the forest?" But then another question came to his head. "More importantly, how can I see these things my dreams that I don't even know about."

Saria had a guess. "Well like the Great Deku Tree told us, it's something far away from the Kokiri Forest... beyond the plains."

Link was interested in this detail as his friend continued. "The world is very wide... and there are many different kinds of lands, even creatures, people, and unknown things that we probably never saw before."

This made Link more interested than before. "The world... what is the wide World, outside the forest, what kind of things, creatures, or people that I don't know about." He pondered.

Later that night.

Link went to bed, however, he kept pondering what Saria mentioned to him. "I wonder if the Great Deku Tree would let me leave the forest... He started to close his eyes. "I guess not..."

In the night, a spider-like creature approached the Great Deku Tree, the guardian spirit noticed the monster and glared at it. "Who are you, you... the evil that invades this forest, I will not allow it!"

That didn't scare the monster one bit, instead, it crawled over to him and climbed on the side. "Heh heh... Deku Tree... tree can't move, how sad." It laughed evilly.

Navi heard the danger that the Great Deku Tree was in, the guardian spirit ordered the fairy to get to Link and the other adults that were captured to be sent free from Mido's group.

Back to the present day.

Mido went off to Link's house, while his thugs let loose the four adults, however, they were still asleep.

At the bottom and to the center beneath of Link treehouse, he got a ladder and began to see beneath it. "That punk will be for a morning surprise at the bottom." He snickered with a sneaky smile.

Link was asleep still whimpering, tossing, and turning as well.

Navi then came inside through the window. "Hello! I'm Navi the Fairy, I'm hereby order of the Great Deku Tree, he would like to see you at once,"

Link was still whimpering in his sleep, which caused the Navy to fly around rapidly. "Hey, come on!" Can Hyrule depend on such a lazy boy!?"

"Wha..." Link began to wake up, his eyes were still sleepy. "Who's there?"

He rubbed his eyes, seemingly looking where the voice came from. "Huh?" He gazed at what was flying in front of him.

"Good, you're awake, as I said before I'm "Navi" A fairy-" She stopped her talking when Link continued to stare at her.

"A fairy, does mean, you're mine?" The boy questioned.

Navi nodded with a sweatdrop. "Uhh...Yes... now-"

"YEAH!" Link shouted in excitement, which startled the little fairy. "I got my fairy now, I'll going to brag to Mido about this!"

He got out of bed, but as soon as he ran off, he fell into the hole that Mido was sawing through, causing him to fall on the Kokiri bully. "Ow, what was that?"

He looked down realizing who was under him. "Mido, what are you doing here?"

A groan of pain and annoyance came from Mido. "Ugh...ow...important stuff..."

Suddenly he noticed the planets looked withered.

Link noticed this too. "The grass is withering..?"

"The trees, too!" Mido pointed out. "This is the first time something like this has happened!"

Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, and Robin were eventually released from the ropes, however, they immediately opened their eyes, which startled two of the Mido's thugs. "AAHHH!"

"You two, do you know of a boy named Link?" Zoro asked with a scary face.

The two Kokiri just shivered in fright, but then Robin approached them with a gentle smile. "Hi there, you two, can you help us find a boy named Link?"

The two Kokiri was awe at such a beautiful adult, despite that she was an outsider. "Uhhh... yes..."

A short time later.

Mido and Link to go see the Great Deku Tree for an explanation.

However, once they got there, the guardian spirit wasn't looking too good either.

"Great Deku Tree!" Link banged his fists on the side of the giant tree.

Mido felt a cold sensation. "He's cold... as if dead..."

The Strawhats eventually arrived at the area.

"WHOA!" Luffy exclaimed. "That's a huge tree!"

Robin was astonished. "Yes, it's huge."

Zoro observed the tree. "That tree has a face, like a man."

Usopp hid behind the swordswoman. "Yeah, but, he won't eat us, will he?"

"Link!" One of Mido's friends called. "These guys are here to see you!"

The boy turned around to see the four adults. "Who are you guys?"

Luffy had his usual grin. "Hi there, I'm Monkey D. Luffy!"

Usopp waved and did his brave act. "Hi there, I'm Usopp, bravest and boldest adventurer in the world!"

Link was impressed. "Really!?"

Bonk bonk

Zoro whacked the long-nose man on the head, leaving a red lump. "He's a sniper of our group." He then cleared his throat. "Anyway, I'm Roronoa Zoro, a swordsman!"

"Wow, a swordsman," Link said gazing at the three swords. "Oh, you carry three swords, that's cool!"

"That's Nico Robin!" Luffy introduced to the black-haired woman.

"Hi, there young one," Robin approached the boy, smiling seductively at him. "I admit, you're cute a boy."

Link's face went beet red. "Uhh... thanks I guess."

Saria then came. "Mido, Link, what is going on here?"

But before anyone could answer, the Great Deku Tree spoke out; "Everyone is here, that's good!"

The straw hats minus, Luffy, and Zoro were startled.

"Ahh, the tree is alive!" Usopp screamed comically with his eyes popping out.

Robin was surprised, despite not showing any emotion. "Incredible, this tree talks the human language."

"Link, Strawhat pirates!"

"Pirates here in the forest!" Mido questioned in surprise.

"Pirates, are they the kind of people that go around and kill for gold?!" A Kokiri asked suspiciously.

"Yeah, I bet, these guys are responsible for this mess!" Another accused angrily.

"Hold on, we just got here, we didn't know of the Great Deku Tree!" Usopp shouted in defensive.

"That's right, besides I assume that you found us while we were unconscious?" Robin questioned.

That part was true, Saria realized that too. "Yes, I believe they didn't this, right Great Deku Tree?"

"That's correct, a monster invaded this land, it's using evil magic to curse me, please, stop-" The Great Deku Tree was cut off as the monster approached from the inside.

"Give me the stone... hee hee hee..." The spider monster hissed. "Where is the stone...?"

In the flash, the spider-like creature went back inside the guardian spirit.

"Talk about disgusting," Zoro said.

Navi flew above everyone. "That's the monster, he's the one that cursed the Great Deku Tree and made him like this, Link, also can you pirates help the guardian spirit, please I beg you!"

Luffy saw the look of great worry on the fairy, realizing the pain. "So that monster is making your friend suffer?"

Navi nodded in sadness.

That's when the Deku Tree opened its mouth. "Go inside, defeat Gohma the Parasite, also only one from the pirate group shall accompany you inside, that'll be the long-nose man."

"Me!?" Usopp questioned as his legs began to shake.

Link wasting no time, ran ahead.

Saria saw this, a look of concern formed on her face. "Link?!"

"I'll beat this monster!" Link assured.

Mido didn't waste any time either, he took the Kokiri sword that was given to Link.

Usopp gulped. "Well, I usually don't like to be the hero, but it means getting out of this place..." He said. "Then I'll go too!"

The three traveled through different parts of the inside of the giant tree.

Three Baby Gohma monsters then approached them.

Mido was pointed the Kokiri sword at the spider-like creatures.

"Special Attack: Exploding Star!" A small seed was fired by Usopp, which exploded on one of the baby Gohma parasites, which the resulting shockwaves destroyed the other two as well.

"That was incredible Usopp!" Link praised amazingly. "Even my slingshot doesn't do that!"

Usopp smiled at the praise. "Well, I'm the great Sniper King after all, so there's no need-"

Just then another baby Gohma dropped the ceiling. "Look out!" Link shouted as he took aim and fired a Deku seed at the parasite insect.

The insect was sent flying into a wall and vanished into nothing.

The three continued on their way to the lair where the monster was waiting.

"Don't push yourself, Mido," Link suggested with concern.

Mido just scoffed. "Shut up!" The bully Kokiri looked at him intensely, but with a look of jealousy. "I'm not gonna let you be the only one to show off to Saria!"

Usopp heard this, he was a little curious. "What does he mean?"

Link was confused about what his bully was talking about. "What are you talking about?"

The look on Mido's face didn't change though. "I'll NEVER let you have Saria, ever!"

Just as Mido turned around, he was caught in a sticky web. a big one. "Wah!" He struggled to get loose. "What is this sticky stuff?"

Usopp observed it. "A web, a spider web... that's not good." He started to shiver a bit as usual. "That monster could be lurking in the shadows."

Mido scoffed at the sniper's scared behavior. "For someone who claims to be brave, you're quite a coward."

The pirate sniper glared at the boy. "Geez, thanks for your honesty."

"Shh!" Navi hushed quietly.

Mido jumped, taken by surprise. "Wha-what is it?"

"Who's the coward now?" Usopp said sarcastically.

"Quiet you two, I heard something down there!" Navi pointed down further.

The three traveled further down until they came to a lair, where Gohma was.

Link was in disbelief at what was he was seeing. "T-that thing... The Great Deku Tree.."

"Oh crap, that thing is eating him!" Usopp cursed in shock and fear.

Gohma heard the three intruders. "You three... Shall I curse you as well?"

"Turn the Great Deku Tree back to normal!" Link commanded firing a few Deku Seeds at the monster.

But the moment the seeds collided against Gohma, they bounced off.

"Give me the stone... Where is the stone...?" Gohma demanded even more impatiently.

"Damn it, the Deku seeds aren't working!" Link cursed as he ran avoided the parasite's legs.

"Let's hurry up and get rid of this bastard, then run like hell!" Usopp suggested in a screaming tone.

Mido pointed his sword at the parasite monster, but he was shivering in fear.

Navi turned around seeing the boy in the frozen state. "Hey, Mido, move it!"

Link dashed over the bully, pushed him and himself out of the way. "That was dangerous, don't make this any harder!"

"Shaddup, meddler!" Mido grumbled.

"Geez, talk about an attitude," Usopp said with a sweatdrop.

Suddenly a web caught Link's arms, then his legs. "Hey, I can't get loose!"

Gohma was coming closer to the blond boy. "Stay away!" Link demanded firing more Deku Seeds.

"Take that!"

The Deku Seed just bounced off.

"And that!"

Still no effect, Gohma wasn't flinching, not even laying a scratch on it either.

Mido got on top of Gohma. "Damn that Link, m-me, too!" He tossed some small pebbles at the monster.

"Damn, what is this monster's body made of?" Usopp questioned.

"Geez, what you three doing!?" Navi asked.

Just then Gohma's single eye grew red. "That eye, aim for that, that's the weak spot!" Navy pointed out.

"Then stand by!" Usopp aimed. "Special Attack: Firebird Star!"

A seed was fired then fire like a bird took shape, which delivered a single blow on Gohma.

"AAAHHHH!" The parasite spider shrieked in great pain, flames were covering its body.

Seemingly stunned, Link saw his chance. "Mido, toss me the Kokiri sword now!"

Mido did so, that's when Link took a fatal swing at the spider's eye, which made it fall in defeat.

The monstrous body began to fade away and away until it was nothing more than a little bug.

"This is Gohma's true form?" Link questioned.

"A little bug?" Mido wondered.

"That's weird," Usopp said not understanding what just happened.

"Who cares, you three did!" Navy cheered flying up and down.

The three smiled happily and excitedly.

"How do you think Usopp is doing with those two brats?" Zoro wondered.

"Knowing Usopp, he's making a big fuss as usual," Robin teased with a giggle.

Luffy was asleep as Saria watched him. "Does he always sleep?"

"Don't mind our captain, he's like that all the time," Zoro said, not looking at the green-haired Kokiri girl.

Just then footsteps were heard from the entranceway.

"Great Deku Tree!" Link called out.

"Hey, guys!" Usopp called out to his crew members. "We defeated the spider monster!"

"Yeah, Usopp was great, he fired a bird made of fire at the Gohma's eye and that's when I delivered the final blow!" Link explained.

Usopp turned to Mido. "You Mido, you were great too."

That surprised the Kokiri bully, but he smiled. "Uhh, you weren't bad either I suppose."

"You three did well, Link, Mido, and Usopp, your combine powers were able to break the curse," The Great Deku Tree spoke proudly.

"But..." The voice of the guardian Spirit had a tone of sadness and pain. "It seems my life cannot be saved, after all."

Luffy was confused. "What, how can that be?"

Zoro had a guess. "It seems that monster Gohma dealt a lot of damage on the Great Deku Tree."

Robin had to agree with a look of regret. "Yes, regrettable, there's nothing we can do."

"Nothing we can do?" Link questioned. "Great Deku Tree, we saved you, you can't die!"

Usopp was greatly saddened at this news. "Come on old-timer, you can't die before these children, what will happen to them!?"

Link banged his fists against the bark of the guardian spirit. "Even though I fought so hard... This isn't right!"

"Link, Strawhat pirates, everyone, listen carefully, while I was being eaten by Gohma, I could understand her intentions, she was cursed too."

"She, that monster was a girl?" Zoro questioned in surprise.

"The one who wields this terrible evil power..." The Great Deku Tree continued. "Is a black ruler of the desert people, he plans to rule Hyrule and make the Triforce his own."

"Triforce?" Robin wondered a little curious but also interested at the same time.

"The Triforce that holds the power of the gods, handed down from Hyrule's ancient times," The Great Deku Tree spoke again. "It possesses the power to create a world that reflects the heart of the one that touches it."

"If I touched it, I wish for a world of meat," Luffy said drooling a little.

"Is food all you think about?" A Kokiri asked with a sweatdrop.

"Excuse me, what happens if a person with a dark heart touches it?" Robin asked.

"If a person with that kind of heart touches it, the world would fall into chaos and darkness," The Great Deku Tree replied.

Usopp shivered and screamed. "Aaah, an evil man that wants to destroy the world, that's scary!"

"A crisis in Hyrule is drawing near... We mustn't allow that dark-hearted man to touch the Triforce!" The Great Deku Tree proclaimed in a demanding voice. "But Link, with the help of your courage and those pirates, we may be able to brush that man's ambitions."

Link felt a sense of doubt. "But, why me, I can't fight a scary guy like that."

"If it's you, you can do it!" The Great Deku Tree spoke, but his voice was weakening even more. "Learn about the outside world and grow, Link, also Strawhat Pirates, please take care of him."

Luffy looked at the guardian spirit, with determination. "We shall..."

"Now Link, you and your new friends, go to Hyrule Castle, there will be a princess that has been chosen by the gods," The Great Deku Tree spoke once again.

Then a green ball of light appeared in mid-air, a strange-looking stone appeared. "Give this stone the princess that lives there, the Kokiri Emerald that man wanted so much, that he cursed me for it."

Link held the stone in his hands.

"I'm counting on you Link, Strawhat Pirates, I believe in you all and your friends..."

"Wait, do you know the rest of our group is?" Luffy asked.

"I sense they're at Lake Hylia, but don't worry, I sense that they're leaving the area, surely they'll meet up with you guys eventually," The Great Deku Tree replied. "Link, you should... make a shield from my remains, it should protect you from evil."

"Great Deku Tree!" Navi exclaimed.

"Navi... Help Link and his new friends, I ask of you... Just then Great Deku Tree's bark-like skin began to get turned gray and the leaves began to dry up. "Everyone... Good...bye..."

"GREAT DEKU TREE!" The Kokiri screamed.

The Kokiri children were sobbing in the sorrow of their lost guardian.

Link felt helpless that he couldn't stop the monster in time to save the guardian spirit that would always comfort him.

Usopp felt sad, his lips curled up. "Even though we barely knew the old geezer, he was a real man to the end."

"Yes, he held on to the pain that he endured from Gohma, likely it was his willpower that kept him alive this long so that he tells us what the danger awaits us," Robin added with her eyes hidden by her hair.

Zoro bowed his head. "He's a man I can respect."

"Stop that crying!" Luffy demanded. "The Great Deku Tree told us this man is about to destroy the world, I will to find him, so that we'll kick his ass!"

A look of rage formed on the straw hat captain's face.

Link knew that the straw hat boy was right, so he took the Kokiri Sword and craved out a wooden shield. "There, A Deku Shield."

He approached the four pirates. "Luffy, Robin, Zoro, Usopp, let's go!" He turned to his fairy. "Navi, you too, let's go!"

"Let's go?" Mido questioned. "Where're you going, we can't leave the Kokiri Forest, we'll die out there!"

Link stopped for a moment, glancing with a small smile. "I want to see the world with these guys, Mido."

Mido was silent for a moment when his rival continued to speak. "Just how big it is... What's out there, also, the new people and creatures I could meet too."

The pirates smiled at the boy's words. "Also, these pirates have friends out there, I want to help find them, I can tell these guys are good people too, lastly once I deliver the stone, I'll come back here."

Mido shoved the Kokiri Sword into Link's arms, with a look of anger, but tears were forming in his eyes. "Take the sword, and don't you or your friends come back!"

The Strawhats pirates were surprised at this reaction, but Link understood the situation, without any argument, he dashed off in a flash but heard the last words from Mido.

"Don't come back, you MORONS!"

The pirates followed the sad boy, through a tunnel then walked across a bridge.

"You're leaving aren't ya?" A voice asked.

"It's Cereal!" Luffy exclaimed.

"It's Saria, you moron!" Saria's fairy and Usopp shouted comically.

Link approached his best friend. "S-Saria..."

He saw the look of sadness on the girl's face. "I've always thought that I was different from everyone else... But you know..."

"Eh?" Saria's eyes twitched in confusion.

"But the forest is my home..." Link finished with a soft smile.

Saria returned his smile. "Right..." She then took out her Ocarina. "Here, I'll give you this, play it sometimes, and remember the forest, okay?"

Saria played her song one last time, Luffy and Usopp began to dance wildly. "That's a good tune!"

"Yeah, I'm sure Brook would love to hear that too," Robin said with a smile.

A short time later.

Link and his new friends the Strawhat Pirates walked through the plain area.

Then a large massive owl flew above them but not too close. "Ho... It looks like the time for the boy to begin his journey, with these pirates, with the fate of the land of Hyrule entrusted to a one young and these pirates, what will happen?" He pondered.

"In the name of Great Deku Tree, I shall watch over you and your friends,"

At Lake Hylia.

Sanji went to talk to the owner of the cabin, which was a medicine shop, after a long talk with the old weird-looking man, he explained the directions to the Hyrule Kingdom.

He came out, explaining what he learned. "It seems, we'll have to go on foot,"

"What can't we just Franky's tank, that should help us get to the Hyrule Kingdom in a day or so?" Nami asked.

"If we do that, we might cause unwanted attention, that said, who knows what the people of Hyrule will react to us especially to our weapons and stuff," Franky answered.

"So, our only option is to go on foot, we'll just have to make sure we don't get delayed or anything," Chopper said with his arms crossed. "But with my nose, I'm sure I can pick Luffy and others scent too."

"Anyway, let's go!" Sanji said.

"What about the Sunny?" Brook wondered.

"The old man will look after it," Sanji answered. "If anyone asks, he'll just say that the sailors landed here, we also took down the flag because that might get unwanted attention too."

"Good idea!" Franky praised. "Then let's go to the Hyrule Kingdom!"

"Robin!" Sanji cried with crocodile tears. "We'll be together soon!"

Now the Strawhats are on their way to the Hyrule Kingdom, will they meet again at the kingdom, who knows.
