Chapter 7: Lon Lon Ranch Visit
The group walked up the hill into a narrow path that lead to the farm.
Night had arrived the moment they reached the center of the farm.
It had its racing track that went around.
"Quite the track they got here," Robin observed.
"Yeah, they must race here too," Nami inquired.
"But, it seems no one is around," Usopp said seeing no trace of anyone.
"Looks like they might be inside for the night," Franky groaned. "That's a bummer."
Just then there was singing heard.
"What's the singing coming from?" Navi asked.
"The singing isn't faint, so whoever that is, must be close by," Robin inquired.
"It must be a ghost," Navi said frighteningly.
"A ghost..." Usopp, Chopper, and Nami shivered.
"You guys are scared of a ghost, man, can't you guys be any less scared?" Link questioned jokingly.
"Okay, Mr. fearless, let us see how brave you are," Nami said sarcastically.
Suddenly out of nowhere something came running towards Link and making him fall backward.
"There it is!" Navi screamed.
"Aah, a ghost!" Nami, Usopp, and Chopper screamed comically.
Then the four realized what they were looking at. "Eh?"
The link was happy to see that it was the horse that followed him and his new friends throughout Death Mountain. "Oh, hey, glad to see you made it home, which I can guess this ranch is."
"Geez, you idiots, it's just a horse," Zoro remarked the four scared morons.
"LIKE YOU'RE ONE TO TALK!" Navi, Usopp, Nami, and Chopper snapped comically in unison.
"Who's there?" A female voice asked.
"That's a girl's voice!" Sanji started looking where the voice coming from.
On part of the surrounding fence, there was Malon. "Oh, wow!" She jumped down from the fence. "Fairy boy, straw hat boy, I see that you and your friends decided to pay a visit."
Brook approached the little farm girl. "Such a lovely tone for the child." He walked over to the child.
"A talking skeleton..." Malon said in confusion.
"That's right, I'm Brook the Musician, I know my appearance is striking, but I can be assured that I don't mean any harm," The skeleton pirate assured with a friendly bow.
"I'm Malon, I live on this ranch with my father and our worker Ingo," Malon greeted with a smile.
"Can I ask you a question, Ms. Malon?" Brook asked.
"Oh, you can call me "Malon", what is your question?" She wondered smiling brightly.
Brook opened his mouth for a moment before he spoke. "Can you show me your panties?"
BONK
Nami took a slugged the skeleton on the head. "You...can't...ask... her... that."
"Then show me yours..." Brook said with a groan.
Nami was more infuriated than ever. "NO WAY IN HELL!"
That earned another bonk on Brook's head.
Sanji then knelt. "Such a pretty young girl like you, despite that you're child, I bet you'll grow up to be a lovely young woman!"
Malon was a little weird out about this approach, but she smiled anyway. "Eh... thank you."
BONK BONK
"Sanji, stop being a pervert!" Nami shouted comically.
"Anyway, little farm girl," Robin said approaching the child. "We need some milk, so can your family spare any?"
Malon thought for a moment. "Sure, in the meantime I'll show you guys around."
"Wait, you don't have to-" Link began to say, but Malon took hold of his hand. "Come on, fairy boy, I'll show you around."
Link's face went red when the farm girl took hold of his hand...
That made Sanji and Brook in awe and her mouths gaping open, then a look of jealousy formed on their faces.
"That little brat..."
Robin giggled. "My, he's becoming popular."
They came to a horse shed,
Ingo was giving the horse stock of hay.
Talon was taking a nap as usual.
"We're all working late tonight, except for dad," Malon said.
"Hey, he's that saloon guy that gave us some milk," Luffy pointed out.
"His name is "Talon", you moron!" Navi protested comically with an anime vein.
Malon walked over to her dad, looking suddenly annoyed. "Dad, honestly, sleeping in a place like this again."
Her dad started to open his eyes, but he was still barely awake. "DAD!"
"Oh, I'm awake, I'm awake," Talon said suddenly startled.
Luffy laughed. "That guy sure is lazy, but taking a nap is good."
Zoro couldn't agree more. "Yeah, I could use one too."
Ingo scoffed with a stressful look. "Hmph... Even in the night, Master Talon just naps all the time," He seemed upset, more like stressed out. "All the work at this ranch gets left up to me."
Despite his words, Malon smiled at the farmer. "That's right, we get things done thanks to you, Mr. Ingo." She complimented.
That still wasn't enough to ease Ingo's stress. "The ranch should be mine instead of Talon's..."
Link knew this wasn't getting them anywhere. "Look, my friends and I are in a hurry, we still have to find-"
Malon interrupted him by handing him a box of bottled milk. "Here you go, this one is on me."
Franky took the box of bottled milk. "Thanks, Malon, this should help us."
A short time later.
The group and their new friend Malon along with her horse Epona went to the center of the racing track.
Malon was patting the horse. "Anyway, Epona loves songs and music, I guess one of you guys must have an instrument or something?"
"Oh yeah, I have this Ocarina..." Link said taking out his instrument.
"Oh, an Ocarina, so cute..." Malon cooed. "Let me sing, "Epona's Song"."
Malon began to vocal sing her horse's song.
Link copied the tune of her song.
"Let me try," Brook said taking out his guitar.
"That's quite an instrument," Malon said looking impressed.
Brook played "Epona's Song" when he did the horse reacted to it well, the horse seemingly enjoyed the song.
Malon vocal sang along.
"That's quite the song," Robin praised.
"Yeah, especially when vocal singing," Nami agreed.
"Such a beautiful voice from a lovely little farm girl," Sanji swooned. "I can't wait to see how much she develops in the future!"
"Moron..." Zoro murmured.
"WHAT?" Sanji snapped at glaring the swordsman.
A short time later.
Zoro, Luffy, and Usopp were asleep.
Chopper was looking at the stars with Link, Nami, Sanji, and Robin decided to join in the night watching.
"Sigh...Doing nothing but work all day is so tiring," Malon said taking a deep breath.
"Must be, since you and that Mr. Ingo work only," Nami sighed.
"It's fine, my dad just needs to remind me once and a while," Malon said with a shrug.
Link had a question. "Malon, where is your mother?"
A sad smile formed on the farm girl's face. "She died when I was little..."
Nami and Robin felt bad for the farm girl, they knew what felt to lose a mother, they still recall how they lost them too.
Sanji started to cry. "You poor little girl, so sad!"
Brook had tears from out his empty eye holes. "Such a tragedy to befall a lovely young child like you!"
Franky shared the teary-eyed moment. "So sad, a little girl, not having a mother!"
Malon's sad smile went a calm one. "But I'm fine, the song that she taught me makes me feel better, especially when I sing it at night."
Link could top that. "Hmm, with me, I do that by playing my Ocarina, even talking with my new friends."
Malon had a glimmer of hope showing on her face. "I dream that a prince just for me will fly down from beyond the moon... yeah right." She said whispering her last two words.
"Anyway, it's a wonderful thought, don't you guys think?"
Nami giggled. "Yes, maybe your dream will come true someday."
"Yeah, just keep looking," Robin added. "And wait patiently."
"I'll be your prince, Malon!" Sanji swooned.
BONK BONK
"Stop that, you perverted cook!" Nami shouted leaving the chef unconscious.
"Anyway, fairy boy, do you and your friends have a dream?"
Nami was happy to share that. "I dream to draw a map of the world."
"I don't have a common goal yet, but I intend to continue studying history and what mysteries I can find," Robin replied.
"For me, I want to find the "All Blue", where all different kinds of fish swim around," Sanji said with a smile.
"Our friend Luffy, he wants to be King of the Pirates," Brook inquired.
Malon was quite surprised. "Oh, so you guys are pirates?"
Nami got a little worried. "It's fine, we don't want to hurt anyone, we just want to achieve our dreams, but, we do have a lot of fun on our adventures."
Malon just smiled. "No worry, I can tell you and your friends are nice people."
Robin giggled. "Such a sweet little girl."
"Anyway, fairy boy, what is your dream?" Malon asked.
Link began to ponder for a while. "A dream?"
He remembered the Deku Tree's last words. "See the world, and grow..."
"My dream is to see the world," Link replied. "I know the world is big, maybe even bigger than I thought."
"The world is bigger than any of us could imagine, there are sure to be things that haven't been discovered either," Robin said with a smile. "Learning about history is fun too."
"That's cool," Malon said seemingly interested. "Did you miss Robin and your friends seeing a lot of amazing things on your adventures?"
Robin giggled. "Yes, though I admit there were bad times, myself I went through hell, whenever I put my trust in some people they would toss me aside."
Malon felt bad for the Archaeologist, from what she was hearing, it sounded like her childhood wasn't a pleasant one. "I see, but I'm guessing that you found your true home."
A small smile formed on Robin's face. "Yes, Luffy and his friends never abandoned me, they wanted me to be with them, be their friend forever, once I saw that, I realized I want to live."
Nami smiled as tears started to form in her eyes, she remembered that quite well, Robin gave up her life to save her and the others, however, they were determined to save Robin, but when everyone showed her how much they care for her, she realized that she had a place to call home.
"Robin, you're so sweet!" Sanji and Brook swooned at the black-haired woman.
BONK BONK
The two were knocked out by Nami. "Stop that, you two perverts!"
Despite the navigator's outburst, Link walked over to the black-haired woman. "That is deep Robin, I'm sorry that you had to go through all that betrayal from those other people."
Robin smiled brightly at the fairy boy. "Link..." She uncharacteristically wrapped her arm around Link's pulling him against her side, his head was beneath her large breasts.
"Uhh..." The fairy boy stammered completely red as a tomato.
Navi was appalled at this. "Robin, give him some space!"
Luckily Sanji was still knocked out and so was Brook, so they didn't get a chance to see the display.
Franky cried happily. "Such a pretty moment!"
Just then a shadowy silhouette was flying down towards them from the night sky. "What's that?" Nami said little scared.
Franky put his hand out. "Be careful!"
Link prepared to take out his sword just in case.
Brook woke up. "Whatever that is, it's enough to make my skin crawl." He then began to laugh. "Yo-ohohohoh, I don't have any skin, skeleton joke!"
Sanji woke instantly. "Don't make any moves!"
Robin just gave a blank stare.
The large silhouette flew closer and came into view, a giant owl.
"It's a monster!" Nami screamed.
"How rude miss!" The owl said offended a bit.
The screaming was enough to wake up the others. "What is going on?" Usopp wondered, but he immediately jumped in terror. "AAHHH, a giant owl monster!"
Luffy was amazed at the size of the owl. "Wow, that owl is huge!"
Zoro didn't know what to make of this. "An owl, this big, this is unusual."
Chopper was surprised. "An owl, is he going to eat us?"
The owl hooted. "Don't fret young ones, I don't mean any harm."
"Whoa, it talks!" Luffy shouted in excitement. "Do you think he can join the crew!"
"Will you quit recruiting folks!" Zoro demanded with shark teeth.
"Yeah, we got enough strange creatures joining the crew as if now!" Usopp added comically with shark teeth too.
"Excuse me, who are you?" Link asked despite the shouting.
"I'm Kaepora Gaebora," The owl introduced as he tilted his head around as any other owl would. "I've known about you, Link..."
That caught the fairy boy's attention as well as the others.
"How do you know about Link?" Robin asked.
Kaepora looked at the Archaeologist. "For one, I knew about Link since he was a baby." He then turned his attention to everyone. "As you probably guessed, the Great Deku Tree and I were old friends."
"Really, but, do you know what happened to him too?" Link asked sadly.
"Yes, I won't grief for my old friend's face, he wouldn't want that," Kaepora said calmly.
"Anyway, do you need something?" Luffy asked.
"I've come to tell you of the Spiritual Stone of Water," The giant owl replied which got everyone's attention. "It's at the Zora's Domain."
Link was surprised to hear that, which the owl noticed. "Heh, your eyes changed, if you and your friends lend me your ears, grab hold of my legs, but I'm afraid I can only carry four, so, what do you guys say?"
Luffy thought for a while, but his head was starting to hurt. "Aw, I'm getting a headache."
"I have an idea, Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, Robin, you guys are with me," Link said.
The four nodded.
"What about us?" Sanji asked.
"I have to get these boxes of milk back to the Sunny, if they continue to stay out, they'll get spoiled," Franky spoke.
"I got to get these medical supplies and first aid items back to the ship too," Chopper added. "But, I can probably get a few first aid kits from the ship just in case we need them."
Link nodded and had another suggestion. "In that case, Sanji, Brook, and Nami, you three go with Franky and Chopper, once you guys get your stuff to the ship, you guys then meet up with us later."
He then remembered he wasn't the captain of their crew, so he turned to look at Luffy. "Of course, I'll need your captain's permission."
Luffy just grinned. "That'll work, so go on, you guys return our stuff to the Sunny and meet up with us at Zora's Domain."
It was settled, Sanji decided to lead the group, then he and the others went in the direction where Lake Hylia was and took their supplies with them.
"Alright, let's lift-off!" Link said jumping and grabbing the owl's legs.
"Wait for me!" Luffy grabbed the feathers on the lower back and pulled himself on the Kaepora's head
"Hey, watch where you're grabbing!" Kaepora complained feeling that some of his feathers were pulled off.
"Oh, sorry," Luffy chuckled a bit like it was no big deal.
Usopp shot out his grappling hook which attached to one of Kaepora's legs. "Don't let me fall!" He pleaded.
Robin did a stance and flew on the back of Kaepora. "This is should be fun."
Zoro jumped and sat down behind Luffy on the upper back of Kaepora. "I hope this owl has a good sense of directions."
"Fairy boy, are you and your friends leaving already?" Malon questioned.
"Yeah, but don't worry, I'll come back soon!" Link replied. "So will the others too!"
"You'd better, definitely come back, okay?" Malon said, mostly she was referring to Link.
"Gee, what are we, chop liver?" Usopp groaned.
Robin just giggled. "Link is more popular than I thought."
Zoro just groaned. "Ugh, not any more lovey-dovey crap."
Kaepora was intrigued at what he was hearing, he let out a hoot-like chuckle. "Come back, Huh?"
"What are you guys talking about?" Luffy wondered.
"Link, aren't you popular with the ladies, you got three pretty ones too," The owl chuckled teasingly.
"He's right about that," Navi giggled.
"Quiet you two," Link groaned slightly embarrassed.
"Good thing that Sanji or Brook isn't here to hear this," Usopp whispered.
Kaepora continued to fly in the sky, then a question came to his mind.
"So, how is it, the world"?
Link looked down. "It's huge, from up here, everyone looks like bugs."
"Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down," Usopp whimpered quietly, shutting his eyes.
Robin just looked around, seemingly amazed at high they were. "Quite the view from up here."
Luffy was excited on the other hand. "This is so cool!"
Zoro stood still. "Geez, when can we get off, I'm bored."
"Also, we're all so small from up here too," Link said continuing to look down.
"That small you have the power to change "The world"," Kaepora said looking ahead. "Also, your friends will help you through hardships, no doubt, there may be decisions that you'll have to make."
Zoro, Robin, Usopp, and Luffy heard this, not saying a word.
"Also Link, you may think that it was your choice to leave the forest," Kaepora said. "But it was your destiny from the very beginning!"
That detail seemed interesting but also confusing to Link and the others.
But before, they could ask any questions, Link was dropped. "Aaah!"
"Link!" Usopp screamed.
"I guess this is our stop!" Luffy proclaimed. "Wait for me!"
"Geez, that moron!" Zoro jumped off the owl's back.
Robin grew her artificial wings and flew down while carrying down Usopp. "Thank you, Robin!"
"No problem," The Archaeologist said with a smile.
Kaepora looked down where they fell, which was in a river. "Soon, you will understand the meaning of those words... That includes your friends."
Due to Luffy's Devil Fruit power, he was beginning to faint, Link began to faint as well due to pressure in the river.
"Follow them downstream!" Usopp commanded.
"Right!" Robin replied.
Zoro held his breath in the water snatching Link and Luffy. "I hope we can get out of here soon," Then he saw a light from the surface. "Let's get out this water!"
After meeting Malon, her father, and the worker Ingo, the Straw hat pirates went in different directions, Luffy's group went with Kaepora to find the Spiritual Stone of Water while Sanji's group went to the Sunny and drop off their supplies, what awaits for Luffy's group is anyone's guess.
