Chapter 16: Morpha the Giant Aquatic Amoeba
The four were finally inside the Water Temple.
"There are three floors, each one has the power to change to water level," Ruto informed. "That where your Ocarina comes in."
Link was surprised by this. "Wow, my Ocarina can do that?" He wondered taking the Ocarina into his hand.
"Sounds like this Ocarina is more valuable than I thought," Nami said getting a little closer and looking at the instrument.
An anime vein appeared on the Zora Princess' head. "Don't get close to my fiance!" She snarled wrapping her arms around the fairy boy's arm.
"Whoa, easy, I was just looking at the Ocarina," Nami said defending herself.
Ruto huffed like she didn't believe the navigator and began to hug the fairy boy's arm tightly. "Oh Link, I can't wait for our wedding, the honeymoon we'll have together, will be..." She got her mouth closer to Link's ear. "Lovely... especially in bed."
Hearing that last part makes the fairy boy's face gets heated by the princess' grip, not to mention his eyes accidentally got a glimpse of Ruto's chest, then breasts pressed against his arm, making his blush redder than ever.
"Guys, we need to keep going!" Navi shouted flying up and down.
They swam down to the lower level and went to the east room(Ruto's Room in the game), the door up ahead was locked by bars meaning opening it would be pointless.
"Where we go next?" Link asked.
Ruto began to float up. "Follow me."
Nami swam up while Link followed.
Up at the surface, there was a door, so they went inside.
Then four Spikes started to roll towards them.
"Ah!" Nami screamed.
"What are those?" Link asked getting in front of the navigator.
"They're called Spikes, monsters that roll while having their bodies covered in metal spikes," Nami explained. "Link, use your Hookshot, it'll stun them for a short period!"
Link prepared to take out his Hookshot, but the four spikes were already close, seeing this, he jumped out of the way, so did Nami.
"That was close!" The navigator shouted.
"Those things are a bit fast, but, luckily, they're not too smart," Link took out a Deku Nut and threw it on the floor creating a bright light that stun all of the creatures at once.
"Din's Fire!" Link performance a stance and placed his hands onto the floor creating a large shield made of fire that burned the four spikes at once and destroyed them.
The door unlocked and a large treasure chest appeared. "Cool, that could be treasure!" Nami squealed in delight and opened the chest.
"Ok, show me the-" She paused the moment she realized what was in there. "A map, that's disappointing, never the less, we could use one."
She studied the map's locations. "Hmm..." She pondered. "Looks like, there's a weapon in the Longest Room."
"What kind of weapon?" Navi asked.
Nami put her hand under her chin. "Good question, but, it reads that we can find it if we get a key for the door in the main room that leads to the room where the weapon is held in."
"Sounds like a plan to me, not bad miss Navigator," Ruto said teasingly.
"Thanks, I guess," Nami grumbled.
The four went out of the room.
Link then noticed the Triforce Symbol on the left wall. "What is this?"
"It's the symbol of the Triforce, in here, you can change the water level," Ruto replied. "Just, use your Ocarina, then the water level will change."
Link nodded and took out his Ocarina, he began to play Zelda's Lullaby.
The water began to dry up.
"I guess we jump down," Nami said gulping.
"Let's go!" Link jumped in a flash without thinking.
"Wait for me!" Navi flew down where her partner jumped.
"Geez, I don't have a choice!" Nami shouted seemingly scared.
The moment that the navigator jumped she freaked out and screamed.
Link saw this and caught her in a princess style. "You alright?"
Nami opened her eyes realizing that the fairy boy caught her in his arms, this made her so embarrassed that she bonked him on the head leaving a red lump.
"Don't touch me you pervert!"
"Ow, I was just helping you..." Link groaned in pain.
"C'mon, let's get going!" Navi shouted comically
Link stood up and noticed the door up ahead was still locked, but, he saw two torches by the corners, getting an idea, he took out Din's Fire and used the fire to light all of the torches at once.
The door unlocked and they went inside.
Shell Blade Room.
In the far back were giant three shells with strange blades sticking out of the front of its shell.
"What are those?" Nami asked disgusted at the creatures.
"Shell Blade, their shells with sharp blades, the only way to kill them is to hit inside where their soft skin is!" Navi explained.
Link knew there wasn't any time to take them all out one by one, so he again took out Din's Fire and got a little close to drawing their attention, it worked they opened their shell and giving the chance to use the spell to unleash a wave of fire at the Shell Blades.
The Din's Fire burned the shell creatures to a crisp and then a small chest appeared in the center.
"What's in here?" Link asked, he opened it and a small key was taken out.
"This key might come in handy," Nami said.
The four got out of the room and went back to the main room where the strange tower was.
In the main room, they saw a platform, and a big block was preventing any passing through, so Link decided to investigate, he pushed the block with all his might, and then it fell into a hole, leading to a passageway.
"Good job!" Navi praised.
Ruto smiled proudly. "Link, I expected no less from you."
Nami facepalmed. "Save your praises for later when we defeat the monster."
First Water Pillar Room
They came to a room with a pit in the middle, beside it was a nearby crystal switch. "What kind of crystal is this?" Navi wondered.
Nami's eyes glittered with stars. "A crystal!?" She attempted to take it but it was stuck to the ground.
"It's a switch, we might be able to use it to raise the water in the pit and get over to the other side," Ruto replied.
Nami was disappointed. "Aw, that's stinks, I was hoping to sell this for money."
Link slashed the crystal switch which activated it and the water pillar raised.
Link and his team took turns jumping over to the other side, except for Navi who would fly.
Spinning Water Room
In the small room was a giant pool of water that was spinning around rapidly.
"That pool is spinning fast," Nami said observing the speed of the water.
"Yes, it'll be difficult for someone that swims like a Zora, to get through," Ruto agreed.
Link then remembered the Iron Boots and re-equipped them. "Look out below!"
There in the pool was an iron dragon statue-like thing that weaved in and out of the walls, in the opposite corner was another body of it, he managed to unequip and use to the pool's spinning to his advantage.
"What is he doing?" Nami asked seeing that he was floating up.
Link then re-equipped the Iron Boots and landed on the dragon's other body part and then he took out the Hookshot to hit a crystal switch that was in the dragon's mouth which opened a door that was blocking a passageway.
On the wall leading to the passageway, was a target, Link used the Hookshot to hit the target and pulled him close to the door, but, up ahead were two Shell Blades, knowing he can't waste time, he un-equipped his boot and began to float up.
He opened a door that was above the surface, inside he found a small chest. "Alright, this must-have another key!" He was right the moment that he opened it and held a small key. "We should have enough to get to where the weapon is now, but, I'd better ask Nami."
Link returned to the girls and explained what he found, Nami looked at the map again, realizing they need two more keys to get to the room where the weapon was, so they decided to get back to the main room and go inside center pillar.
They did, they returned and opened it using one of the keys to open a locked door.
The four went inside the Center Pillar and began to look around.
"Quite big, isn't it?" Nami questioned.
Ruto saw a platform like the ones outside the pillar. "This must lead to a secret passageway."
"Look up there!" Navi pointed out at a platform that was above. "It's a platform with a target."
Link took the Hookshot and hit the target, pulling him up onto the platform.
"Let's see..." He began to look around, then he saw on the wall there was a Triforce symbol, realizing what he had to do, he played Zelda's Lullaby again, thus raising the water level.
Ruto noticed the platform she noticed before was floating. "Link, Nami, follow me!" The Zora princess jumped in, the two following along.
Temple's Flooded Basement.
Round the corner of the basement, there was a long crystal switch, Link hit it using the Hookshot, releasing a gate above and dropping some baddies.
"Ah, monsters!" Nami screamed comically.
Wasting no time, Link used the Hookshot to hit two Spikes and Shell Blades, hitting their weak spots, and defeating them.
On the other side was another gate that opened as soon as the enemies were defeated.
Link un-equipped his Iron Boots and began to float up. "Man, that was close." He climbed to the floor that had a small chest which he opened and got a small key.
He returned to the others and they went make to the center Pillar and opened the door that was on the 2nd floor which lead them out, only the water from outside was at the level it was rose to.
"Are there any more keys we need?" Link asked.
Nami checked the map for a moment. "Yes, it seems that room to West needs one of our keys, so we'll still need to two get to the room where the weapon is."
"Where can we get another key?" Navi asked.
"Hold on, I remember there was a large crack in a wall below the room where the first Triforce Symbol was," Ruto stated. "Follow me!"
She jumped into the water with the two following her.
They made it back to where the cracked wall was, Link took out a bomb and blew it up, behind was another hidden room and a small chest.
Link opened it and took out a small key. "Got it, let's head back to the Main Room!"
They made it to the main room and opened the West door using one of the three keys.
Inside was a water pillar, across the room was another crystal switch, Link was just about to hit it when he heard a sound coming from above.
Bounce Bounce
A Tektite jumped from above the hole in the ceiling.
"A spider!" Nami screamed in a fearful tone.
Link slashed the monster using Master Sword and was split in half. "Got it!" He then stood on the pillar, though things got cramped when Nami and Ruto stood close to him.
"Hey, make room orange-hair!" Ruto complained.
"My name is Nami, Tuto!" Nami barked back.
"Call me, Ruto!" The Zora Princess snapped comically.
Link wasted no time and took out the Hookshot, hitting the crystal switch which raised them to the third floor.
They walked outside a door and lead them to a small alcove in the main room.
There was a final Triforce symbol on the wall, Link played Zelda's Lullaby again, rising the water level a third time.
"Let's get to the west door!" Link stated.
They unlocked the door to the west, leading to a waterfall room, using the platforms that had targets, Link took hold of Ruto in his arm and pulled them to each reachable platform.
Nami used her Tempo to create a path of clouds and jumped to the other side.
"You could've used that for us too," Ruto mumbled sarcastically.
"Let's get going!" Navi protested.
Statue and Tektite Room
There was a crystal switch in the center of the room.
"The water is drained to the ground," Nami said seeing there was barely water.
"Looks like that crystal switch is our chance of getting across," Ruto suggested.
"Yeah, but, those tektites probably won't let us pass so easily," Navi added seeing the monster noticing their presence.
"In that case..." Nami took out her weather rod. "Storm Could Rod!" A long chain of dark clouds came out of her clima-tact, she then began to swing the cloud chain around her, electrocuting the Tektite below and destroying them.
Nami grinned. "I'm bad."
"That was so cool, Nami!" Link praised greatly impressed.
"I could've done something." Ruto huffed in jealousy.
Link then activated the crystal switch using the Hookshot, which made the dragon heads(Which had targets on them)including the water level rise, doing this a few more times, he was able to get across with the girls.
They eventually made across and got on a dragon statue's head and this time activated the crystal switch again using the Fairy's bow, to get to the top.
They jumped over to the other side, but there was a tube-like monster across from a line of spikes.
"Alright, Gust Sword!" Nami unleashed a strong gust from one part of her segments that made the Like Like tube-like monster and splatted against the wall, thus destroying it.
Link used the Hookshot to hit the target on the ceiling, but, not before he took Ruto's hand, who had to take Nami's hands, then they were reeled up to the other side.
They opened the door and went inside the next room.
Room of Illusions.
"This is an endless sea of water," Ruto said. "A bit of ruin and at the tree in the middle."
"Sense anything," Nami asked.
"Yeah, something is lurking around here," Navi said confirming the navigator's question.
"Great, an enemy is lurking around and hiding," The navigator whimpered in fear.
"Quit your whimpering, we had to get- She was cut off when a dark shadow appeared from beneath the water.
"It's Dark Link!" Navi exclaimed.
"I thought Link defeated him!?" Nami questioned in fright.
"That was one of my clones like the ones you fought against at Lon Lon Ranch," The dark Link replied with a cold smile. "I have the advantage in this water, I can appear anywhere I want and be all over you before you know it!"
He submerged into the water like a Fishman.
"Be on your guard!" Ruto stated.
"Right!" Nami took out her Clima-tact rod.
Link never thought he'd see his darker version again, now he's got to fight it again and it's got the advantage in the water.
Out of nowhere, Dark Link appeared from behind. Link turned around just in time to block the enemy's, Master Sword.
Their Swords clashed with each other creating a metallic sound.
The two jumped a few inches away, then Dark Link unleashed a barrage of slash attacks at Link, who blocked it with his Hylian Shield.
Link saw an opening, attempting to stab his dark version, but, like previous clones, he jumped on the blade and kicked him in the face.
The fairy boy was knocked on his stomach, attempting to stand up, Dark Link submerged into the water and attempted to slash at his real self.
Link was able to block it, but, knew he tried to stab his dark self, his attack would just get evaded and he would get kicked again.
"Damn, this guy is faster than the other Dark Link, not only that, he's using the water to appear out of nowhere." He thought. "Wait a minute..."
He remembered the attacks he used in the past, the other Dark Links kept doing the same moves he did, however, it never used the weapons he found in the temples, so he would have to use something that stunned his dark version good.
Link wielded the Megaton Hammer and whammed his dark self hard, making it fall to the floor in pain.
Seeing his chance, he had to strike hard, then he got another idea. "Nami, use your rod to create an electrical surge for a combination attack!"
Nami wondered what he meant until she saw him taking out Master Sword and then smiled realizing what he was getting at. "Great idea..." She created a dark cloud and a small electrical storm began to surge within.
Link held up Master Sword which absorbed the lightning in the dark cloud which surged around the blade. "Sword Style: Combination Thunder Strike!"
He stabbed the dark Link on its body creating an electrical surge around the evil shadow's body and making it scream in agony.
Dark Link vanished into thin air.
The door on the opposite side unlocked.
The four went inside and found a large treasure chest.
Link opened it and a new kind of Hookshot was inside.
"That's the Long Hookshot, which can help you get over long places you couldn't reach first," Ruto explained. "It'll come in handy."
Link nodded. "I think it's time we get to the lair where Morpha is."
Nami was a little nervous. "Y-yeah, let's do this and get out of here."
Link saw a hole behind the chest being blocked by strange platforms the same kind that has the symbol on the Door of Time.
The fairy boy played the Song of Time, thus making the platforms disappear.
Raging Water Cavern
They jumped into the hole and saw a river that flowed down to a long twisting corridor, there were also vortexes.
Link decided to use the Iron Boots and held on to Nami's hand, Ruto had no problem swimming through the river, but it made her envious that her fiance was holding another woman's hand.
Avoiding the vortexes that were nearby, they came to a platform and climbed onto it as soon as Link un-equipped the Iron Boots.
Link saw a golden eye on a nearby wall above, he used the Fairy Bow to shoot it which opened the doorway.
Ruto jumped onto the doorway.
Link took hold of Nami and used the Hookshot to hit a chest that had a purple rupee inside.
Nami was a delight with money signs appearing in her eyes. "Yee-yah, I'm rich!"
"Geez, she loves money a lot," Navi said with a sweatdrop.
They then found themselves in the spinning room with the dragon statue, knowing what to do they went through the rooms as they did before, and returned to the main room.
Link, Ruto, Navi, and Nami looked at the northern part of the room, realizing that's where the Morpha is.
"Let's go!" Link stated.
Link held Ruto's hand while the Zora princess held Nami's, the fairy boy hit the target that was on a dragon's statue that was across from the other side.
They made it and went inside the large door.
Spike Trap Corridor
"Spike Traps...great..." Nami grumbled.
Link noticed a crystal switch nearby and hit it with the Hookshot, which made target pillars appear from the doorway to the lair where Morpha was.
"Hold on each other's hands!" Link commanded.
They did and reel up to the top, thus opening the door the bosses lair.
Boss Room
Navi noticed the water in the pool in the center.
"You guys be careful, this water isn't natural!"
"You tell us now?!" Nami questioned comically.
Then something emerged from the water, a giant aquatic Amoeba appeared from the water.
"It's Morpha!" Ruto exclaimed.
"That's ugly!" Nami added in a shaky tone.
"Keep focus, let's defeat this monster!" Link stated.
"Hey, you guys, see the nucleus in the Morpha's water-like tentacles, Link, your new Hookshot to grab and damage it with your Sword!" Navi suggested pointing at the red nucleus.
"Right!" Link said nodding.
"I'll help out, I know a way to do it!" Nami took out her clima-tact rod.
Two tentacles emerged from the water and one managed snatched Nami. "Aah!"
"Nami!" Navi screamed.
"Let her go!" Link demanded angrily. "Take this!"
Link hit the monster's nucleus which made it release the navigator, Link caught her in his arms. "Geez, that was close!"
Ruto thought of an idea. "Nami, use that thunder attack you did and have electrocuted the entire pool, that should stun Morpha good!"
Nami nodded with a smile. "Storm Cloud Rod!" A chain of dark clouds came out of her rod and then unleashed strong lightning that electrocuted the entire pool of water.
This stunned Morpha and did serious damage, the nucleus began to jump around, Link saw his chance and hit the small red ball using the Long Hookshot which brought it to him.
Then the fairy boy sheathed his Master Sword and delivered the final blow to the Morpha's nucleus which made it explode.
The rest of its body began to suck up to the ceiling and trickle away, then one last drop of Morpha splashed into the pool.
"We did!" Nami cheered.
"Yeah, we did," Link said with a smile turning to look at the navigator. "Thank you, Nami, we couldn't do it without your navigating skills and that weapon of yours too."
Nami's face went red. "Huh, it was nothing, no need to get all gushy towards me."
"Where is Ruto?" Navi asked.
Link saw a glowing circle appear within the pool. "I think I know, follow me!"
He jumped down and with the others following, then they went into the glowing circle and teleported them to the chamber of sages.
From within the Water Sage symbol, came Princess Ruto.
"Link...I would expect no less from the man I chose to be my husband..." She said with a smile.
"Geez, she's rambling about that," Nami scoffed.
Ruto didn't hear her instead she kept speaking with a happy smile
"Zora's Domain will eventually return to its original state... Now, let us pledge our marriage vows..."
"Huh!?" Link exclaimed in surprise.
"She's not shy about her feelings," Nami whispered annoyingly.
"Which I want to say, but, I don't think I can offer that now..." Ruto interrupted with a giggle, which made the fairy boy regain his composure. "I have to stay here and guard the Temple as the Sage of Water."
"Oh right, how disappointing," Link thought, he seemed disappointed maybe.
Then a look of suspiciousness formed on Ruto's face. "Also, you are looking for Princess Zelda, right?"
Link's eyes widened. "I-I-I..." He stuttered nervously, trying to get some words out.
"Hah, you can't hide anything from me!" Ruto laughed at her fiance's reaction.
"She's not that ditz..." Nami thought.
"Anyway, Zelda is alive, I can sense it..." Ruto informed which seemed to brighten up Link. "So, don't be discouraged, I can tell that nothing will stop you or your friends' quest for justice and peace... Link the Hero of Time, take this medallion... Take it respectfully!"
The Zora Princess or Sage of Water held her hands up and the medallion of water fell from the sky, Link caught it in his hands.
The glowing light surrounded the chamber as Ruto's voice was heard one more time. "If you guys see Sheik, give me my thanks... Link, you take care, my dear."
Sheik was talking with Luffy and the others about stuff.
Then they noticed the water was rising.
"Hey guys, look!" Franky pointed out.
"The water is rising!" Chopper exclaimed.
"Does that mean..." Brook began to say.
"That the water temple's curse is broken!" Sanji finished with a smirk.
"Indeed, the evil has been banished from the lake... Link, Nami, and Ruto, you three did," Sheik said proudly.
Link, Navi, and Nami teleported back to the top of the Water Temple.
"Hey!" Luffy turned around waved at the three. "Nami, Link, Navi, long time no see!"
"Gee, we weren't gone that long," Navi giggled.
Sanji twirled over to Nami. "Oh Nami-san, I was worried about you, you're not hurt are you?" He stopped to look at her at every inch of her body.
Whack
"Don't stare too much pervert!"
"Hey, Link, where's your fiance... I mean Ruto," Robin asked teasingly.
Link explained the situation and what happened inside the temple.
The Strawhats minus Robin was in shock.
"She's the Sage of Water!?" Usopp questioned with a gaping mouth.
"That means she won't be able to live in our world like Saria and Darunia too," Chopper said sadly.
"Ruto is such a woman, to think she has to leave her future husband!" Franky cried comically hugging Link.
"He's not her fiance!" Navi shouted comically.
"Princess Ruto, I'll miss you my Zora beauty!" Sanji cried in crocodile tears.
Brook took off his hat and placed it on his chest. "Princess Ruto, we shall not forget your help, you are a real woman." He bowed down. "If only I could see your panties.
Bonk
"Stop being perverted!" Navi shouted comically with an anime vein.
Link informed of Ruto's gratitude to Sheik, which the Sheikah survivor chuckled. "Ruto wanted to thank me, I see..." He then gestured his arm to the lake. "Link, thanks to you, Nami, and Ruto, the lake is full of pure water, all is as it was here."
The Strawhats gazed at the sight of the pure water in the morning sun, admiring the scenery was astounding and beautiful.
Just then Link turned around and saw that Sheik was gone.
"Where'd Sheik?" He wondered.
The Strawhats pirates noticed and began to look around for the Sheikah survivor.
Sheik was on top of the nearby white tree and jumped into the lake disappearing into the water.
"What's next?" Chopper asked.
"I say we celebrate, I mean, we got the Sunny back, so, let's have a big feast and celebrate for coming this far!" Sanji suggested with a smirk. "I'm sure all of you are pretty hungry!"
"Sounds good to me!" Luffy cheered practically drooling.
"Don't drool, that's gross," Nami and Navi exclaimed in disgust.
"I could use some boozes," Zoro said with a small smile.
"Right, Let's feast!" Franky and Brook cheered at once.
"Yeah, all that fighting in the ice cavern made me hungry!" Chopper said jumping happily.
"I'm hungry too, let's eat!" Link said then remembered something. "Wait, I forget someone!" He played Epona's Song, who arrived in a flash.
"Right, also, in the morning we can depart for the desert," Robin added, her friends agreed to that too.
The group ate on the sunny, but, thanked the old lake scientist man that owned the labotatory nearby the lake for keeping an eye on the Sunny, invited him to feast with them.
Then later that night.
Everyone went to sleep.
Link was still awake remembering what Ruto told him. "Zelda is alive, I can sense it, don't get discouraged." Then he smiled while closing his eyes. "Ruto is right, I can't get discouraged, I must have faith that my friends and I will find her... Zelda... I can't wait to see you again."
The fairy boy soon fell asleep.
With the curse on the Water Temple broken and Ruto awaken as the Sage of Water, things are going well, but, the next destination is to desert of Illusions, what awaits them there, find out next time.
