Chapter 2: Beyond The Mysterious Beyond
The next morning, Littlefoot and Chomper were seen with Grandma and Grandpa and Bowser in front of a gathering of others from both The Great Valley and the herd of Far-walkers. Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, and Ruby were seen not too far away.
"Children. We need to talk." Said Grandpa.
"Okay. About what?" Chomper asked.
"About what you kids saw last night." Said Grandma.
"You see, word about it has gotten around." Said Bowser.
"And it's made some of our guests a bit upset." Said Mama Swimmer.
"Upset?" A Spike-tail from the Far-walkers asked taking offence. "That's putting it mildly."
"No reason to get all huffy." Said Topps.
"Hump."
"Hump yourself."
"Go on kids. Tell us what you saw." Said Grandma.
"Well," Chomper said to them. "We saw a Flying-rock. Only,"
"There you see?" Topps interupted. "Nothing unusile about a Flying-rock. We've all seen them."
"Yeah but this one was different." Said Littlefoot. "It flew really low. And shined like The Bright Circle only blue. And it made a crackling sound like fire in the trees."
What Littlefoot said to them only got the Far-walkers more confused.
"Look here." The Spike-tail said to them. "Nobody else saw this thing. How do you explain that?"
"I don't know. I guess everyone else was sleeping as it passed by." Said Chomper. "You believe us. Do you Father?"
"Of course I do Chomper." Said Bowser. "But,"
"But what?"
"But perhaps you saw a Flying-rock that only seemed different. Perhaps you were still a little sleepy. Or maybe it was something you saw in a sleep-story. Isn't that also possible?"
"I guess." Said Littlefoot. "Only,"
"It's always like this isn't it?" A voice asked.
Everyone turned to see a pare of Rainbow Faces (Gallimimus) walk over to Littlefoot and Chomper.
"Yes if they don't see it with their eyes it doesn't exist. What limited thinking." Said the female.
"Uh. I bag your pardon?" Bowser asked.
"As well you should." Said the male. "The name's Hank."
"And I'm Linda."
"We didn't ask for your names." Said Topps.
"But it was best we introduced ourselves anyway." Said Hank. "What if the little Longneck and Two-claw did see something extrordnary?"
"Maraciluse." Said Linda.
"Impossible." Said Topps.
"Really?" Linda asked. "Have you seen all there is to see? Are there no mysteries left for you?"
"No."
"Ah. Then why do you call The Mysterious Beyond mysterious?" Hank asked. "Why not The Boring Beyond? Or The Ooh Nothing Out There To Any Intrest Of Us Beyond?"
(Song Start)
Hank: Don't you even wonder what's out there? Beyond The Mysterious Beyond. Out past the smallest light that's twinkling. You can not even have an inkling for what is going on. I'd give an example. But that would be telling.
Linda: Beyond The Mysterious Beyond. Out where the darkness is the scariest. Out where the wonders are the rariest. Past the edge of dawn.
Hank: There's so much more to everything. Then anyone supposes.
Linda: The answers lie inside your dreams. And underneath your noses.
Cera: Beyond The Mysterious Beyond. They act like they really think they really know it all. But I won't believe until they show it all. I trust what my eyes can see. Not some dumb beyond.
"Friends of yours?" Topps asked the Spike-tail.
"Eh. Not really. They joined up with us sometime ago. Always asking questions and talking in riddles. Harmless I think? Well they are a bit strange."
"You're all bit strange if you ask me."
Littlefoot: Beyond The Mysterious Beyond.
Chomper: Think of the things that we can see there.
Ruby: Oh how I wish I could be there. All of my friends and me.
Hank and Linda: If stars can fall and rocks can fly. And mountains catch on fire. We can set our sights beyond the sky.
Littlefoot, Chomper, and Ruby: Or maybe even higher. Beyond.
Hank: Beyond The Mysterious Beyond.
Littlefoot, Chomper, and Ruby: The Mysterious Beyond.
Hank: Trust in your own imagination.
Cera: Hump.
Hank and Linda: You are part of the creation of all that lies beyond The Mysterious Beyond.
Littlefoot, Chomper, and Ruby: The Mysterious Beyond.
All: Beyond.
(Song end)
"I'm sorry. But what are you saying?" Grandpa asked.
"We're saying what if this was no ordinary flying rock?" Linda questioned.
"What if it was for example, this? A Stone Of Cold Fire." Said Hank.
Now everybody was confused at what the Rainbow Faces were talking about.
"What is a Stone Of Cold Fire?" Chomper asked.
"Glad you asked." Said Linda.
"Some say that these stones can shine light without heat." Said Hank.
"They can give power far beyond our portentiol. Heal the sick and other milicles." Said Linda.
"Still, such others believe that such stones are a message." Hank continued.
"What kind of message?" Bowser asked.
"A message from beyond The Mysterious Beyond." Linda answered.
Many of the dinosaur were amazed at this. But,
"QUIET!" Topps stomped his foot down. Making everyone gasp as he stomped over to the Rainbow Faces. "You're not from around here are you?"
"You might say that again." Said Linda.
"Then let me tell you have things work in these parts."
"Of please do." Said Hank.
"This should be facinating." Said Linda.
"First, a flying rock is a flying rock. Second, fire can't be cold. And third, there is nothing beyond The Mysterious Beyond."
"Are you sure?" Hank asked.
"Yes. And I'm also sure I don't want any rabbiting Rainbow Faces filling our young ones heads with rubbish."
"Please. We know where it landed." Said Littlefoot.
"Some of you can go out and find it." Said Chomper.
"No! The Smoking Mountains are far away in The Mysterious Beyond. And they're completely off limits. There are Earthshakes, fire pits, Dangerous Sharpteeth. And that's that."
"I'm sorry children." Grandpa said to them. "But until the Far-walkers leave The Great Valley, it might be better if we didn't make anymore fuss over that flying rock."
"Yes Grandpa." Littlefoot said sadly.
As everyone else left, Littlefoot and Chomper staied with Grandpa and Bowser.
"Of course, you can always talk to us about it." Said Bowser. "We are curious in such things."
"We know Father." Said Chomper. "What do you think it was?"
"Well that's hard to say." Said Grandpa.
