13 days ago, some of the Normal Trolls decided to find a job to earn money in order to adapt their vacation lives in Harmonious Land Essence found herself working at the Pone Date operation where she has to answer a caller, and acted as someone's date through the phone. She earned more money than the other Normal Trolls, but Essence couldn't help but feel guilty for working at this kind of job, especially since she was already married to King Quincy. But she has to do this for her family friends. She has no choice. She has been keeping this secret for a while as she didn't want anyone to think she was cheating on Quincy, and disgust her family and friends.
4 nights later after her first day of work, Essence was already exhausted, and didn't have enough energy to have some good times with her husband.
When she got to bed, Quincy was so happy to have his wife by his side as he wrapped an arm around her.
"Quincy, I've had a long day at work, and right now, cuddling with you is the last thing I want to think about," Essence said tiredly.
"Essence, you never want to hug me no more. Besides, I missed my wife," Quincy said.
"Q, can't you just use Stuff Essence tonight?" the Funk Queen advised.
"No! Stuff Essence doesn't feel authentic to me anymore!" the Funk King answered with a stuffed object that looked a lot like Essence beside him.
The next day after that night, Essence went to work without giving Quincy a goodbye kiss. Life is boring for the Funk King. All he has to do now is spend some time with his friends from other tribes at the dining room where they were eating snacks.
"Hey, Branch, do you and Poppy were… you know?" Quincy asked.
Branch shrugged, "Eh, just a little hugging, and sometimes, kissing, but we don't go to that level yet. We're not even married. And the condo is not soundproof, so I'm not taking any chances. Why do you ask?"
"Essence barely does romantic things with me no more. I kinda miss that. I need some kind of outlet," the Funk King said desperately.
"You know, King Q, I got just the thing for you," Demo took out a pen and a small paper, and wrote a number on it before giving the paper to Quincy, "There's this new phone date lady I've been calling, and she's amazing!"
"Gee I don't know. Isn't that cheating on Essence?" Quincy questioned worriedly.
"No, Uncle Quincy, look, it's over the phone. That doesn't count," Aggie replied, "Besides, I've been there before like several times."
The other Trolls groaned disgustingly.
"Eewww, Aggie!" Riff gagged.
"Look, I got dumped by two Trolls, I was desperate that time!" Aggie cried, but she calmed down, "But ever since I left and came back here, I stopped doing that because I met this cute Troll right here!" She tilted her head, pointing at Trollex next to her.
"Aaaawwww," Trollex cooed, appreciating how his girlfriend was thankful to have him.
"It's like they done said: 'Phonin' ain't datin'," Gust added.
"Yeah, well, I guess I could try it," Quincy wasn't so sure about it, but he could try just to get rid of his boredom and misery without Essence.
Later that day, Quincy snuck back to his and Essence's room, hoping no one followed him. He closed the door before walking towards their bedroom.
When Quincy locked the door, he dialed the number that Demo gave him on the phone, and it dialed.
At the other line, Essence answered "Hello there, handsome. I'm Glimmer."
"Um, hi, Glimmer, I'm Quincy. King Quincy," Quincy spoke, making Essence's eyes widened surprisingly. "You know, you heard of me as one of the two leaders of the Normal Funk Tribe."
Essence covered the speaker of her headphone as she whispered in shock that her husband called someone, like her, for a phone dating, "Oh my Troll," She cleared her throat, and spoke normally, and she was lucky her husband didn't recognize her voice, "Um… well, hello, King Quincy, what can I do for you?"
Quincy didn't know what to say as he only talked like a normal person, "Um…, well, I don't know how this works, but I want to tell you that I'm just a Funk king with a wife, two sons, and an adoptive daughter."
"Wow, you have a beautiful family. Did you adopt the girl because you and your wife don't have a daughter?" Essence asked, pretending she wasn't aware of that information like other Magi Musical Trolls do.
"It's not that. I'm sort of a father-figure to this girl while her parents were out working, and I promised them that I will take care of her as my own daughter."
"Aawww, that's very sweet of you,"
"You know, there's something about you, Glimmer. Something special."
"Aww, thank you."
"I like your voice. It makes me want to hear more of your voice," Quincy said, "Hey, did you know that one of my sons got lost as an egg, and was raised by Pop Trolls?"
"Oh no, I don't. Please tell me the story," Essence replied, still pretending to be a different Troll.
"Oh, I have one. Queen Poppy told me how Cooper grew up in Pop Village."
At night, still the same day, the Trolls were having dinner. It's a quiet dinner since none of the trolls share a story for today... other than Trollex got a new job, and Poppy almost ruined it.
"So, Quincy, how was your day?" Essence asked, wanting to know if Quincy could share about his call at the phone dating operation earlier.
"Eh, it was okay," Quincy answered.
"Just…okay? Didn't…try anything new today? Talk to anyone interesting?"
"No, not really."
Essence knew Quincy did call her on the phone, but she couldn't believe her husband would keep this as a secret. It was like he was cheating on her.
8 days later after Essence found the job, making it 3 days after Quincy talked to "Glimmer" without knowing he was talking to Essence, the Funk Queen was at work, answering a lot of calls for their "date".
She then received another call, "Hello?"
Once again, Quincy was the one calling her, "Um, hi, Glimmer. It's Quincy."
Essence cringed when her husband was still calling to the phone date department, "Oh, hi there."
Quincy giggled delightfully, "I love when you talk. Listen, um, I've had such a good time talking to you these past few times that I was thinking maybe we could meet."
"But you're married! You've got a wife!" Essence said.
"Yeah, but she's been giving me the cold shoulder lately."
"I don't think this is a good idea. I mean, cheating on your wife is a very serious thing. Also, you're the King of the Funk Trolls, you would never cheat on your queen, are you?"
"You don't understand, I have to meet you. I-I know it seems sudden, but I feel a special connection with you. Look, you name the place and the time, and I'll be there."
Essence once again covered her mic, and growled quietly, "You son of a Troll!" She cleared her throat, and spoke normally, "Okay. I'll meet you. We can meet in 5 nights at the Aristocrat's restaurant."
"It's a deal then," Quincy said before hanging up.
Essence sighed. She couldn't believe her husband had to meet another lady Troll. If she wasn't the Troll Quincy was talking, then he would be cheating on her. She had known Quincy for so long, and never attempted to cheat on her all their lives, but she feared that nightmare would come true.
The day after that, at the dinner, Quincy met up with every Normal male Troll to tell them the news.
"That's right, fellas, I'm gonna meet her," he started.
"Meet who, your majesty?" Trollzart asked.
Yeah, what are you talking about?" Lownote added.
"The phone date lady you guys were talking about, I'm gonna meet the phone date lady in person," the Funk King explained.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute, King Quincy. I wouldn't do that," Dante thought it was a bad idea.
"Hang on, Dante, that's a bad idea. You never want to meet those phone dating women in person," Synth suggested.
"Yeah, I know, that's what I said. I wouldn't do it," Dante clarified.
"Good. Don't," Synth said.
"Synth, Synth, you realize what you're telling me not to do, I'm already not doing! Okay, I know you should never meet that… that phone date operator. All right? I'm not an idiot. I would never meet one of those people, ever."
"Good. Don't."
"Guys, I have to see if she's as special in person as she is on the phone," Quincy said.
But the boys glanced at each other, thinking it would be a bad idea because dating someone on the phone wasn't bad enough, but meeting another Troll that someone dated on the phone was a horrible idea. That would mean cheating on someone. In Quincy's case, he would be cheating on Essence, and this wasn't what a king would do for his queen at all.
5 nights later, when the Trolls were having dinner and with Essence cooking their food, she took a chance to look at the small paper as her memo about when and where she, as Glimmer, will meet Quincy tonight. She read that the place is at Aristocrat's restaurant at 8:00pm. She glanced at the clock on the wall, saying it was 7:30pm, and frowned.
The other Trolls in the room noticed Essence was frowning. They were confused as they didn't know why, but only they knew that Quincy is going to meet the phone dating lady tonight.
Quincy didn't join them for dinner, but he was already dressed up in a white tuxedo.
Essence noticed her husband's new looks, and asked, "Q, what... Why are you dressed like that?"
"I was called to deliver a speech about the Funk Troll history at Funk Bar, Essence," Quincy lied.
"Oh... okay. I see," Essence didn't believe him, but she has to make him believe her, "Won't you join us for dinner?"
"I can't, I already had a dinner reservation for me after my speech."
"Umm… okay…"
"I'll be back tomorrow morning. I don't know how long this speech will take, but I know it will be long. See you, everyone," Quincy said before heading out of the door.
Essence frowned as she couldn't believe her husband was going to do it, and the other Trolls glanced at each with their angry faces for Quincy for going to cheat on Essence. Even their sons didn't like how this was going.
Later, Essence took a taxi cab that looked like a bee to get to Aristocrat's restaurant. When she got out of the cab, paid the driver, and he took off, Essence noticed Quincy through the window, sitting on the table, waiting for "Glimmer".
"That son of a Troll," Essence growled, then took out a black cloak from her hair, "Glad that Rodrigo dropped this magic disguise cloak, and Barb decided to keep it in case of emergency. I hate it when I stole it from her closet, but… this is important," She glanced at her surrounding to see if no one's looking before wearing the magic disguise cloak, transforming herself into a Magic Funk Troll with blonde hair, blue eyes, and wore a pink dress with green ribbon around her waist.
"Glimmer" walked casually in the restaurant, and approached Quincy at his table, "Hello."
Quincy was stunned by the looks of the Troll he met on the phone, "You're... you're beautiful."
"So you got to meet me. Are we gonna do this or what?" "Glimmer" glared as she sat down on another chair at the other side of Quincy's table.
But the Funk King sighed as he wasn't sure if he was doing things right, "Why am I doing this? You know, I got the greatest wife in the world. And we have two beautiful sons. But did you ever feel like something was missing? You know, something you had once, but now it's gone?"
"You mean like the loyalty of someone you trusted? Yes, I know exactly what that feels like," "Glimmer" pointed while crossing her arms.
"Yeah, I mean, I was just goofing around when I first called you, but when I heard your voice, I-I felt like I found some part of me that was lost. Doesn't make any sense, but it... it felt like some force in the universe wanted us together," Quincy confessed.
"Glimmer" anger faded as it was replaced with a smile, "That's... kind of nice. I guess I could understand that."
"Now that you're here in front of me, I think you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen," Quincy commented with a warm smile, which made "Glimmer" blushed and smiled back at him.
Just then, the main doors of the restaurant were wildly kicked by Aggie as she and the Normal Trolls glanced in random directions to look for Quincy, until they spotted him with "another Troll".
"There he is!" DJ Suki pointed as the Troll approached the Funk King and "Glimmer.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the Pumpkin Eater," Barb said.
"Sons! Everyone! What are you all doing here?!" Quincy exclaimed.
"We knew you're going to get away with this, Pops! So we decided to come to you to make you realize you were wrong for doing all this!" Prince D explained disappointedly.
Cooper then started to sob, "Dad, why? I just found my real family, and you decided to leave Mom?"
"Whoa, whoa, Cooper, son, this is just one night, and I promise I will tell your mother the truth, and I will forget this whole thing ever happened," Quincy assured him and the other Trolls, before gazing lovingly at "Glimmer", "Besides, she won't know if she doesn't find out I dated this beautiful Troll here."
"You think so, you dirty, rotten cheater?!" "Glimmer" snapped in rage before pulling off her magic disguise cloak, revealing herself to be the Queen of Funk herself.
This made Aggie and the Normal Trolls gasped in shocked that the Troll Quincy was cheating with was Essence all along
This surprised Quincy the most that the Troll he called was his wife, "Essence! You-you-you-you is the phone lady, you the phone, you the phone, you is the phone lady, you is the phone lady, you is the phone lady..."
But Essence snapped him out of it by clapping him across his face, "You cheated on me!"
Quincy rubbed his cheek where his wife slapped him, and asked, "Essence! Why the Troll were you doing phone dating?!"
"I was providing for our family!" Essence answered.
"You were lying. I'm starting to think that the whole speech about Funk history was just a bunch of baloney!" Quincy said.
"Note: That was baloney," Laguna whispered.
"That's not the point!" Essence yelled, trying to not let Quincy change the topic.
"Well, if you think about it, I-I wasn't really cheating 'cause it was with you," the Funk King stated.
"Well, you didn't know that!"
"Yeah, but you know what? In some way, I think I did. You know, when I heard your voice on that phone, I-I felt something. It was like an instinct, you know? My heart somehow knew you were my soulmate.
"Well... I suppose you did fall for me pretty hard," Essence admitted with a smile.
"Don't you see, Essence? I fell in love with you all over again. To me it... it just proves that we're truly meant to be together," Quincy confessed.
"Oh, I love you, Quincy."
"I love you, too, Essence."
The two Royal Funk leaders shared a hug before giving each other a romantic kiss.
"Aaaaaawwwww!" all of the Trolls in the restaurant cooed at this scene.
After the kiss, Quincy then turned to his fellow normal Trolls who had jobs, "By the way, you all have to work full-time, 'cause our phone bill was 7,000 Trollars,"
"Uuugh!" Melody, Laguna, McJagger, Branch, Trollex, Delta, Holly, Gust, Buckaroo, Smidge, and Riff groaned that they were going to work hard to earn that much money.
So, this might be the shortest chapter I made so far. This chapter is the continuation of Essence's segment from Job Hunt.
The whole chapter is based on Family Guy: Call Girl. But I decided to make this more kid-friendly since Trolls franchise aimed for children.
I hope you guys like this chapter so far. Here's a bonus scene.
At the phone dating service building, Essence was already packing her things as she decided to quit her job.
"So you decided to leave?" the Magic Reggaeton Troll came by to Essence's cubicle, "But you're one of my best employees here, and you earned so much."
"I decided to leave, Rudy. Besides, I already got what I wanted: my family," Essence replied.
Rudy respected Essence's decision as he decided to let her go, "Well, we're really going to miss you here, Your Funkness."
"I'll work here again just in case my family has another crisis," the Funk Queen chuckled.
"Respect." Rudy bowed before Essence left the room.
When Essence got out of the building with her stuff, she was surprised that her family and friends were waiting for her outside to pick her up, and they all gathered around her that they were happy she made the right decision. Quincy embraced his wife, and kissed her multiple times on the cheek.
