Prompt: Devastation
Calling Rikka to be present, Naoki presents Miyuki to Sesshoumaru formally as he looks for signs of pups and whose presence is there. As Kagome was absent, Sesshoumaru asked his mother to step into the proceeding, he could tell she was very unhappy in which meeting his mate had decided to skip but she didn't let anyone else tell her state of mind.
Sesshoumaru could detect the small presence of a pup and his own scent melted into the unique scent of the pup with Miyuki… He had hoped for her to have been lying but he then looked to Rikka who somberly nodded her agreement to his silent assessment.
"The pup is indeed mine, and so I declare Lady Miyuki, mother of the heir of the west…" he told the rest of the assembly.
"Can we tell the gender yet?" asked Kiyoshi impatiently.
Rikka stepped forward and asked Miyuki to sit while she gathered a drop of blood onto her test. It changed colors to green.
"It will be a male, Milord's," she declared.
Kiyoshi smiled, as a male heir was in their favor.
"He will be loved and taught by the best tutors I have," he commented seriously.
The rest of the procession was subdued knowing that Sesshoumaru had produced a son and Kagome's future held in the balance.
Kagome continued to stop by villages on her way to Edo and was further saddened by the decline of humans but also that young demon children were getting ill as well.
She stopped by a youkai village on the outskirts of Sesshomaru's territory and there was only a jaguar type demon family remaining.
The mother had given birth and died and the father was holding on to a babe that was not doing well.
The father actually attacked her on her arrival but Kagome weakened him with a burst of power and he came to the realization that he had just attacked the new Lady of the Western Lands.
She forgave him and offered her assistance and looked over the infant she was currently cradling. The cub's whines were growing more wild the longer she held him.
"What is his name?" she asked.
"Nori" he uttered.
Kagome smiled gently before placing him back into his father's arms.
She offered to look for another mother to feed the poor babe, but the father already tried that, and there were no one else left...
Feeling the dire situation grow more urgent. All she could do was ask if he wanted to join her travelling to the next village, offering a water substitute while they looked for another milk source.
He agreed and they set out eastward towards Edo.
Luckily, they reached the next village by nightfall, and the sickness hadn't reached them yet, and there were several nursing mother's who were willing to help the small family.
The Jaguar named Eiro, thanked Kagome pursuantly before giving her some wildflowers in return they weren't much but the sentimental behind them was sweet.
She offered him some money she had on her for food and supplies and bid the villagers and him goodbye, slightly making more haste for she knew, Sesshoumaru would follow as soon as he could, and he was much speedier than her.
