All I'm going to say is…DON'T KILL ME! I do not own anything Chicago PD related, just my character.
What Happens Now?
Hailey hung up her phone, and hung her head. Voight noticed and walked over to her.
"Upton?"
"That was Will at Med. Quinn died ten minutes ago." Everyone looked at her, in shock. Even though they had only met her a day ago, they liked Tessa and looked forward to getting to know her better. They couldn't even begin to think how Jay was feeling, or Voight who had personally trained her. Said man was trying to keep his emotions in check as Hailey continued.
"Sarge, he said they needed you at Med, it has to do with Jay." Voight nodded and wordlessly walked out of the bullpen. He walked down the stairs and over to Platt's desk.
"Trudy, Quinn didn't make it." Platt looked at him with shock on her face, and then sadness.
"Damn. How's Halstead?"
"Not good." Voight made it to the hospital and was met with a worn out Will Halstead.
"Hank." Voight shook his hand, noticing the unshed tears in his eyes.
"Where is he?"
"Trauma Room 2…he won't let us take her." Voight nodded and followed him to the room where Natalie, April, and Sharon were all standing. He looked in and saw that Jay had his elbows resting on Tessa's bed, holding her lifeless hand in both of his. Tessa was lying flat on the bed with a sheet covering her lower half, with blood staining the bandages from her surgery and the front of her gown. Voight walked into the room and put his hand on Jay's shoulder.
"Jay." Jay glanced up at him and then turned to look at Tessa's face, tears streaming down his face.
"I can't…I can't let her go. We span style="font-style: italic;"just/span got engaged…we're going to the courthouse next week to get married. How did this happen? What…what am I supposed to do?" Jay let out a number of sobs as Voight grasped his shoulder a little tighter.
"I know, I know. But, Jay, you have to let her go. She's not here anymore, that's not her." Jay nodded and set her hand down. He stood up and kissed her forehead one last time, whispering an 'I love you' to her, before Voight pulled the sheet over her face. Will walked into the room and put his hands on his brother's shoulders.
"I will stay with her, Jay. Every step of the way, I'll be right with her. Promise." Jay nodded and hugged his brother as Natalie, April, and Will moved to Tessa's bed to roll her out of the room. Voight put his arm around Jay's shoulders as they walked behind Tessa's bed, the cops on the floor saluting for their fallen comrade. Jay watched as the elevator doors closed, taking his fiancé away. Hailey walked up to him and Hank, which Jay took no notice of. Hank turned to her.
"Take him home, get him cleaned up." Hailey nodded as she took Jay's arm, him following her without a fight or even so much as a word. Hank watched them go before turning to Sharon.
"What happened?" She sighed before answering.
"We're guessing the bullet in her chest shifted, it nicked her aorta causing a slow bleed. By the time she crashed, she had lost too much blood." Hank ran a hand over his face.
"Damn." He let out a shuddering breath before turning back to Sharon, "let me know when the autop…the…when you guys have the bullet." Sharon put a hand on his shoulder.
"We'll take care of her, Hank. I promise." Hank nodded to her before walking off. He made it back to the precinct. Everyone looked up at him, waiting for him to speak.
"They're thinking that the bullet in her chest shifted and tore her aorta. She was too far gone when she crashed. What have you got?" Atwater stood and walked over to the board.
"We know that the bullet that killed Quinn couldn't be taken out, so we can't check striations, yet, but the bullet that fragmented had some markings that partially matched to a gun in the system." He handed the photo he was holding to Burgess, who searched for the gun in the database.
"Here, .45 used in a robbery…owner shot dead…found the guys a block away…says the gun is still in evidence." Hank nodded at her as Ruzek spoke.
"Alright, since its fragments being a partial match, there's a lot of room for error here. We won't know for sure until we get the intact bullet that…" He trailed off before he could say anything about the bullet still being in Tessa's chest. Just then Hailey walked into the bullpen, looking defeated. Hank looked up at her.
"How's Halstead?" She shook her head.
"He's shutting down, didn't talk all the way to his apartment, and when he got in the door he just sat on the couch without a word." Hank nodded to her before turning to the rest of his team.
"Alright, Burgess and Ruzek, go check on the gun. Rojas and Atwater, keep combing through CCTV footage around the dump sight for the car and around where it was stolen. Upton, we're taking a ride." Hank walked past her as he put his phone to his ear. All the leaders were coming together, not at all how Tessa wanted, but desperate times. Hank and Hailey were leaning up against his car in an abandoned warehouse as all the leaders started walking in, and started yelling at each other.
"What the freaking Hell?"
"Why are you here?"
"I should kill you right now!" Hank watched them all, calmly, as Sportelli turned to him.
"What's the deal here, Hank?" They all quieted down as he walked over to them.
"Teresa Quinn is dead." They all looked at him with varying looks of shock, sadness, anger. Michael Smith spoke after what seemed like an eternity.
"What happened?"
"She was shot in a drive by last night. She made to the hospital, but died this morning. There were two guys in the car, we think they were Mike Anderson and George Sido." Michael and Sportelli turned to their respective guys, who walked out of the warehouse and returned with said men a few moments later. Hank walked up to them./p

"You two shot a cop. Not just a cop, but a good friend of mine, and of everyone here." Anderson, still with that smug look on his face even surrounded by people who wanted to kill him, looked over to a very nervous looking Sido.
"Don't say nothing. They don't have anything." Sido looked at him, and then Sportelli.
"Boss?" Sportelli grabbed the front of Sido's shirt.
"You tell him what happened, or so help me no one will ever find your body." Sido looked around.
"Okay, okay, I can tell you where we got the car…" Anderson tried to get him.
"SIDO!"
"But I didn't shoot her, I swear!" Hank nodded.
"Upton, get him in the car." Hailey walked up and cuffed him, and was reading him his rights as Hank got up close to Anderson.
"You got nothing on me. Just the word of a nervous Italian." Hank smirked at him, and looked at Michael who nodded and then Sportelli.
"You're right, but you forget who else is here." Just then, one of Sportelli's guys kicked Anderson in the knee, sending him to the floor as Hailey walked back over.
"What the Hell!"
"You sent emails to Quinn, you shot her. Even if I can't do anything, these guys would love to do what I can't." Archie kicked him across the face as Hank continued.
"You hadn't had contact with Quinn in almost three years, and then out of the blue you send threatening emails." Ray and Erica kicked him in the ribs.
"You're a low level punk who would've jumped at the chance to hurt the cop who got you kicked out of the gang." Aaron punched him in the jaw, breaking it.
"I don't think you and George acted alone, did you Mike?" Michael hauled him up so Hank could look him in the eye.
"No. Two young gang members with a beef with a cop, all wrapped up in a bow," Hank grabbed his jaw, making Anderson cry out in pain, "someone put you two up to it, didn't they? Who?" Hank tightened his grip.
"A COP!" Hank yelled over him.
"I NEED A NAME!"
"FOSTER! His name's Foster!" Hank let go of him.
"Harry Foster?" Hailey shook her head.
"As is Harry Foster, Quinn's Sergeant?" Hank kneeled down in front of Anderson.
"You better give me everything you got, or I'm throwing you to these guys." He gestured around to the leaders, who all looked at Anderson and Sido with absolute hatred. Hank stood as his phone rang.
"Yeah?" Ruzek answered him.
"Boss, the gun is gone. The guy on duty had some excuse that he was getting a coffee."
"Ask him if he stepped away as a favor to an old friend, I got an idea who it was."
Uh oh! We're getting close to the end here, guys! Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, and stick around for more!
