Professor Peach did in fact find it hilarious and, just this once the group wouldn't get detention for their mini food fight. "Well I consider today to be an absolute win" said Cole, Jade chuckled "agreed, this year's gonna be a fun one." Ella grinned, linking arms with her and Oscar "stick with us and you'll never be bored." Oscar smiled, that he knew was the truth.
"I'll see you guys later than" said Oscar, bidding them goodbye before heading to where Tai was waiting for him. Jade was the next to leave "see you guys" she said before heading to where one of her older sisters would pick her up. Which left Ella and Cole "shall we?" She asked, he nodded "we shall" before both walked from the Academy to where they would be picked up. "Today was fun, I hope it lasts" said Cole with a sad smile, Ella nodded "yeah, they seem nice. You alright? I didn't think Jade would be..." She trailed off, Cole nodded.
"Yeah, shouldn't be a surprise at this point but I haven't heard about him in a while... Guess it just sent me back a bit" He admitted, stuffing his hands into his coat pocket. It wasn't anywhere close to being as cold as Atlas but it made him feel better. "But I'm alright now, promise."
Ella studied him for a moment before nodding, letting the matter drop. "Alright but you better tell if it's bugging you. Aunt Robyn will get it outta you otherwise, whether she's here or not." Cole chuckled, knowing that she was right "yeah I know, but I'm okay. Oh yeah, dad mentioned that there's pie when we get back." He added, remembering the message from earlier. "Sounds like a movie night, you think we can get Winter to join us if she's home?" Asked Ella, Cole snorted "Pfft yeah, get Winter to miss training and sit and watch movies. That'll be the day."
"Sounds like you've had an eventful day" chuckled Ozpin, his face and the background of his office filled up Qrow's scroll screen. "Heh, you know us. Typical Oscar befriending those brats" said Qrow, a teasing smile on his face that make Oscar huff. "I'm glad to hear you've made good friends Oscar" Smiled Ozpin, Oscar smiled back at him. "So how's Beacon papa?" Ozpin sighed "as hectic as ever, I'm afraid Glynda realised Yang and Ruby were both joining this year and has taken it out on my via my paperwork."
Tai and Qrow both winced at that. If anyone knew how to be passive aggressive it was Glynda Goodwitch. And it was a little known secret that Ozpin hated paperwork.
"And mind you this was all before she saw the footage of Ruby 1 V 1 a Nevermore, I swear I thought she was going to quit than and there." He added, Tai nodded "honestly can't say I didn't feel the same. Why did they have to take after us?" Qrow patted him on the back "and that's just the first day, they got 3 years left. And than they'll have this munchkin and his friends to deal with."Said Qrow, Oscar laughed.
He could only imagine what Ella and Cole would be like in Beacon and knew Glynda would not be happy at all. It made him happy though, Jade, Ella and Cole had seemlessly dropped into his life and even after one day it felt like he'd known them forever. He'd never really had friends before and he already knew he liked being around them.
"I can only imagine, as long as you don't corrupt my son. Honestly Qrow, a food fight over cake?" Asked Ozpin, amusement on his face while Qrow gave a sheepish smile. "And we beat him and Professor Peach didn't even get mad" boasted Oscar, proud of himself. Ozpin chuckled "ah yes I'm aware, she actually sent me the footage from the security camera. You did well Oscar, a well thought out plan to take down your opponent and we'll reap the rewards." Said Ozpin, his praise making Oscar smile.
"Yeah well... You did good kid but next time I'll be ready" said Qrow, ruffling his hair. "Bring it on" said Oscar, Tai snorted "yeah and next time I'll help Oscar." Qrow let out a dramatic gasp. "Really? You're going to face me, betray me for my own son?! After everything we've been through ?" Tai snorted, folding his arms "yup because I know damn well you're the one who taught Ruby that move and made her think she could 1 V 1 a Nevermore."
Qrow folded his arms "maybe I did, maybe I didn't? Not like Yang got up to the bird close and personal and punched dust into its mouth.. Something she must've learned from... Oh yeah you." Tai gave his own dramatic gasp, "oh we're playing it like that are we? Branwen." Qrow grinned "why yes we are, Xaio Long."
Both of them lept on the other like they were children, play wrestling as they fell to the ground. Oscar and Ozpin exchanged looks, Ozpin was just shaking his head trying not to laugh. "Gentleman please, act your age" He said but neither cared to listen.
"I'm sorry I left you to deal with this Oscar" apologised Ozpin, Oscar chuckled grabbing the spray bottle he had on hand. "Don't worry papa, I've got it" He said, spraying both his dad and uncle with cold water in the face. Both men yelled, wiping the water from their face before gaining evil smirks and dragging Oscar down with them.
Ozpin watched with fondness and amusement, oh how he missed them.
