'Okay, let's focus on what's important now. Sayori-I mean my mom was a sealing master, she tattooed unique seals on her body, which means that she probably inked a unique seal on me. But where is it? I don't remember having a tattoo. Think Sayori! Think! If not me, then someone else must have noticed it before.'
I squeezed my brain to find a moment where someone mentioned a tattoo. I spent a long time with my head down, scrunching my eyebrows with hair all over my face. 'Maybe… maybe it's there?'
"Sayori-chan, You're needed inside." Guy said pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Okay." I said while fixing my hair. Sweating buckets, I walked in again with only one explanation for what might've happened. 'Hopefully they don't ask for evidence,' I wasn't sure what to do if they asked about the tattoo, since it might've been erased after what happened to this body. 'I guess it all goes down to luck…'

I walked into the Hokage's office and stood next to Guy. The Hokage fixed me with a stare that studied my movements closely, and said, "Sayori-chan please think back to what happened before you blacked out. Are you sure you don't know what caused it?"
"Sorry, I really don't know…" I said.
"Well, this might be hard for you to hear, but we think that you might be the reason the kidnappers died."
"M-me?" I said, as my eyes went wide, 'crap, I didn't expect him to be this straight forward.'
"Yes."
"How am I the reason?"
"It's just one of our theories, no need to be scared. We're going to ask a couple of questions. Please answer them truthfully."
"Okay," I mumbled.
"So, you blacked out right?"
"Yeah."
"What exactly happened before that?"
"Well, I don't know where we were, but… I remember they were talking."
"They, as in the kidnappers?"
"Umm yeah, I remember there were three different voice talking near me…"
"What were they talking about?"
"T-they said that I'm another kid who will get experimented on. I'll get hurt every day, then die in one year at most."
"While they were talking, have you felt or noticed something out of place?"
"I..." I stopped, not knowing how I should phrase what Sayori felt.
"Don't be afraid Sayori-chan you won't get in trouble, this is a safe place, alright?"
I was skeptical about this room being a 'safe' place but started speaking anyway. "When I was in the bag, It hurt everywhere. I couldn't talk, couldn't see… I couldn't even move my arms or legs. The bag was too small, and I was scared. I kept crying and wishing for someone to help me, but no one did… then, I heard them talk about me getting experimented on and dying. So, I wished for everything to stop. I hate getting hurt and feeling pain… so I wanted to leave that place now. As long as I don't go where they planned to take me; I didn't care if I was going to die. I didn't want to get hurt anymore!"
"You wished to die?"
"I didn't want to get hurt..." I repeated remembering my own death and feeling my eyes water a little.
"So did anything happen after that?" He asked.
"I… I felt pain in my back. Then, the pain spread everywhere and it hurt so much. I felt like I was getting burned. Everything went black while I was in pain… I-I hated those men, but… I didn't mean to kill them. I just wanted to get out of there! I didn't want to get injured by anyone!"
As soon as I finished talking, I felt tears stream down my face. I was confused by this, as I wasn't the type of person who cries in front of people, but brushed it off as a side effect of being in a child's body.
…
The room was quiet as their eyes were on me. The Hokage sighed and said, "calm down Sayori-chan. Can you please explain the feeling you got from your back?"
Still sniffling, I said "Heat... I felt like fire was coming out of my back and surrounding my body. As if I was getting burned."
"Can you show us your back Sayori-chan?"
"W-what? My back?"
"Yes, there might be a clue there."
"Okay" I said uncomfortable. I turned around, took off my shirt, and hugged it to hide the front of my body. I then heard the hokage's footsteps. He came closer and started tracing my upper back, making me feel even more uncomfortable with the situation. I stayed still for a couple of minutes, waiting for someone to say something; when no one did I asked, "Is something wrong?"
"No, thank you Sayori-chan. You may wear your shirt now." As soon as he removed his fingers, I wore my shirt and folded my hands together.
"You didn't tell me your family name, what was it again?" He asked.
I turned and stared at his face for a second, finding that I dislike him even though we just met. I answered his question curtly "Chiba."
"Chiba, is it now? When did you become an orphan?"
"I was always in the orphanage…"
"Can you tell me about that mark on your back?"
I looked at the floor as I was feeling drained from all of his questions and said, "I don't know what it is. It's always been there."
"What about that burning feeling? Did you experience it before?"
"No, that was the first time."
The room was silent for a while, as the hokage was staring at me. I didn't raise my eyes, and kept staring at the floor. Finally, the hokage turned toward Guy and said, "Guy take Sayori back to the orphanage, then come back to my office. We'll discuss this more when you come back. I need to look into something."

…
'So, I'm not going to die today…' I thought, Guy then looked at me and said, "come on, I'll take you back home."
Even though I was tired, I was still shaken from everything that happened. I wanted to insure my survival in some way. I was young, had no self-defense skills, and no one to protect me from danger. More importantly, after what I displayed today, Danzo will want me more than before. So, I decided to ask Guy something as he seemed like the most trustworthy person here. Also, there were many witnesses to relay this conversation to Danzo. So, I slowly looked up at Guy and shared my thoughts in a low voice, "what if someone comes to find me again?"
Guy tried comforting me and said, "Don't worry. You're safe in Konoha! There are many ninjas on patrol that are there to protect citizens like you."
"But I wasn't safe this time… you helped me after I was kidnapped. What if next time the thing that stopped them, didn't. What if I go where they wanted… no one will know I disappeared. No one will come save me… I-I don't have a mom or dad to look for me..."
Guy didn't know what to say and kept his silence.
I looked at the hokage and saw no compassion in his face. 'They probably think I'm doubting them…' I quickly added "I... I'm sorry! I know the ninja of Konoha are strong! I mean you're strong, right? Haha, I-I'll go back. Thank you for your help."
Guy then looked at me with a determined face and said "I'll look for you"
"Huh?"
"When I'm not in a mission, I'll look for you once a week. Okay?"
I looked at him with surprise showing on my face, and asked "r... really?"
He nodded his head, showing his signature smile.
"T-thank you!" I said, smiling widely at him. I felt some tension leave my shoulders and looked back at the hokage to see his cold face. My smile fell instantly not understanding how I offended him. 'Why is he looking at me like that? Did I do anything wrong?'
"Haha, no need for thanks Sayori! Now let's take you back." Guy said. He picked me up, forcing me to look away from the Hokage's face and unto the floor. He jumped through the open window with me on his shoulder. I shut my eyes the whole way to avoid getting dizzy.
When we reached the orphanage, Guy put me down on the floor where I laid down breathing hard with hair all over the place.
I then stood in front of the orphanage, feeling like I knew this place but didn't at the same time. I stood there for a minute and turned to thank Guy again for his help. As I was about to do so, someone suddenly crushed me into a tight hug screaming, "Sa-chan!"
"Hm?"
"Sa-chan, you idiot! Where were you? I was so worried I couldn't find you anywhere"
"K-Kyoko-chan?"
Kyoko I recalled, is a close friend to Sayori, she is an orphan who was one year older than me. She stopped hugging me and held both of my shoulders and looked at me up and down with frowned eyebrows, "yes, it's me, Sayori! Are you okay? You look a little pale! Did you get hurt anywhere? You really got me worried!"
"Don't worry, I'm okay." I smiled at her remembering how much she cared for me from Sayori's memories. She was the closest person to Sayori since she was young. Even though she was only one year older, she always looked after Sayori. They were so close; some thought they were sisters.
"Sayori your back? Come inside, it's time for dinner!" a caretaker called from the door.
"Okay," said kyoko.
"Well, it looks like your friend will take care of you now. So, I'm going sayori-chan! I'll see you later, okay?" Said Guy.
"W-wait" I said, as I ran up to him," I held his shirt and asked him in a timid voice, "you will check on me, once a week. Right?"
"I said I will Sayori. I don't break my promises, so you'll see me soon."
I smiled genuinely at him, and said "Thank you for everything Guy-san. This promise… it really means a lot to me."
"Haha, stay youthful Sayori." Guy said as he ruffled my hair. He then gave a small wave and walked away into the darkness. I watched him leave, happy to gain someone's support as it will help me live peacefully a little while longer.
Kyoko then held my hand and pulled me to the door, "come on, you must be tired. Let's go eat." As I was turning around, I noticed that no one was outside except one kid sitting under a tree. "Hey, there's someone there, should we tell him about dinner?"
She turned to see who I was talking about, looked at me weirdly, then shook her head. "Don't worry about it Sa-chan. let's go inside for now."
