A/N: Just a few notes to say this is a one-shot of my OC/Sylvanas and their family in Stormwind City shortly after their youngest, Talanas, turned ten and became eligible for the Ranger Academy there.

Despite finishing the story, I can't seem to stop wanting to write more. I have been trying to start a new project but I keep coming back to this family... I think I need some help.

Anyway, I also have to say I have uploaded everything to AO3 so if you also read on there and enjoy my stuff, showing some support over there would be great! Same pen name and story names, so it shouldn't be too hard to find me.

As always, if you enjoyed this please let me know and have a great day!

A Day In The Capital

"It feels good to be back." Alleria said, smiling and looking back at her sisters, both of her brothers in law and her niece and nephew. "I know that the last time you were here, it was to say goodbye to your daughter, but you have to admit, Stormwind has a charm to it."

Sylvanas hugged Athrodar's arm tightly against her chest as she watched her family make their way through the Capital. "I'm still not sure coming back here was such a good idea. I don't think either of us are ready."

Athrodar leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "I know I'm not. But we're here to see Tanadia and if we're lucky, Tahnir and little Alleria. That is if they're not on patrol in Elwynn."

Sylvanas looked down at their daughter Cedani who was excited to see the Capital again, even if the last time she was here was to visit her sister's grave. "She's been looking forward to seeing Tana and Liadrin since she found out we were coming here."

Athrodar smiled and saw his daughter, closing in on thirteen, lead them all through Stormwind. Minus Alleria who had disappeared to make her way to Turalyon who was somewhere in Stormwind Keep. "Liadrin is going to kidnap her if we don't keep an eye out. Remember last time?"

Sylvanas chuckled and nodded her head against his arm. "She was gone all day. But she did also get anything and everything from the Paladin, so she might be safe with her."

"At least Talanas is excited to see the Stormwind Ranger Academy. Alina is looking forward to seeing him." Athrodar looked over to their son who turned ten and the right age to enter a ranger academy, holding onto his bow tightly whilst walking beside Vereesa and Rhonin, both of them telling him he would do great.

Overhearing her brother-in-law, Vereesa smiled and stepped towards both Athrodar and Sylvanas whilst Talanas walked beside Rhonin. "I can take him to Alina whilst you both go see Tanadia. Rhonin needs to see Thal'ena anyway, see if she needs help with anything from Dalaran."

Sylvanas took hold of her sister's hands and smiled at her. "You will? Thank you."

Athrodar watched Vereesa, Rhonin and Talanas leave now, being left with his wife and youngest daughter. "Let's go see your big sister." He said, getting a smile from Cedani who was holding a basket of fruit, vegetables and some flowers she had grown in her garden, a feat both parents were over the moon with.

She had no desire to be a ranger like the rest of her family, instead opting to stay at home with her garden in Pandaria. "I hope she likes them." The little elf said, looking down at her basket. "Li Li too."

"Liadrin and Tanadia will love them." Sylvanas told her, kissing the top of her daughter's head and stroking her hair shortly after. "Just make sure you get what you want out of Liadrin, you know how easy she is to manipulate."

"Like dad?" She asked with a grin, looking back at her dad who sighed. "Love you, papa."

Athrodar tried to ignore his daughter and wife laughing at him, but knew Cedani would win him over no matter what with just a smile. "Love you too, hun."

"These smell great." Tanadia said with a smile, picking up the flowers from the basket and taking in a deep inhale through her nose. "I hope the rest taste as good as these smell."

Cedani tried to respond, but was having a difficult time breathing with Liadrin crushing her lungs with her tight hug. "They... Should!" She strained, being relieved by her mother who flicked Liadrin on the ear, making her recoil back.

"No crushing my daughter." Sylvanas said, standing between the Paladin and her daughter now.

Tanadia placed the flowers down and hugged her father who stepped towards her. "How are you, papa?" She asked, remembering the last time he visited Stormwind was the toughest day of his life. "I still visit her grave, even after we buried some of her stuff with her and said goodbye. I can't just stop seeing her."

"I know." Athrodar whispered to her, looking over to Sylvanas who was still fighting Liadrin off her daughter. "I think your sister needs help."

Tanadia looked back to the Paladin and her mentor. "Li Li, leave her alone." The priestess said, smiling when she saw her sulk. "You remember what I said? You break my sister and I'll take up that job offer in The Exodar."

Athrodar frowned and looked at Tanadia. "Job offer?"

Tanadia smiled at him, looking over her shoulder when Sylvanas placed a hand on her back. "Yes, a job offer. In The Exodar of all places. Velen wanted me to go with him to visit Exodar after I got the title of High Priestess and I did. I spent a couple weeks there and he offered me a place teaching the new priests and learning under his Vindicators if ever I wanted to be a Paladin."

"And I told her no." Liadrin said, stepping towards the priestess. "I told her I will teach her how to use a sword and to become a Paladin if she wanted it." She hugged the priestess from behind and refused to let go when she felt Tanadia begin to struggle. "You promised me I was to be your Paladin mentor."

Tanadia rolled her eyes, making both Athrodar and Sylvanas smile. "Fine... Just leave my sister alone unless she comes to you." She looked down at her sister and then remembered something she had been meaning to say the moment they arrived. "Oh! I forgot to say." She looked back at her father and Sylvanas. "Tahnir and Alleria... My sister that is, are with Thal'ena in Stormwind Keep. Apparently they had something to tell you papa."

Athrodar frowned and tilted his head. "Did they not tell you what it was?"

Tanadia shook her head. "Nothing. Only that it was important."

"Go." Sylvanas said, placing a hand on Athrodar's cheek. "I'll be here with our daughters and Liadrin. Perhaps you can bring them back with you."

Watching her father leave, Cedani looked back to Tanadia and had Sylvanas hug her from behind, pressing her cheek to the top of her daughter's head. "Can you show me some spells, Tana?" The little elf asked, smiling up at the priestess. "There aren't many priests back home... Or mages. To be honest there aren't many casters besides Uncle Rhonin."

"And he does what he can to keep her and your brother entertained." Sylvanas added, smiling at Tanadia who smiled back at her. "Talanas likes them more, but I suppose that's because you're busy with your garden."

Cedani looked up at her mother who kissed her on the nose. "Lin says I need to keep an eye on it." She told her, making Sylvanas chuckle.

"Yes you do, but she doesn't mean every ten minutes." She kissed her on the forehead this time, hugging her a little tighter and looking back to Tanadia. "So how have you been, little one?"

Tanadia rolled her eyes again. "I'm hardly little. I'm thirty now, Sylvanas."

Letting go of her daughter, Sylvanas stepped forward and hugged Tanadia. "You might not be my daughter by blood, but you are my little priestess. Always and forever."

Liadrin, feeling jealous of all the love Tanadia was receiving from someone other than herself, pushed her way in between both the priestess and Sylvanas, hugging Tanadia tightly. "And my little priestess." She whispered, hearing Sylvanas sigh but squeezing a little tighter when Tanadia laughed.

"Jealous again, Li Li?" She asked, getting her response when Liadrin tightened her hug to an almost deadly level. "Okay... Too... Much!"

"You're all mine." Liadrin whispered almost authoritatively, kissing the priestess on the cheek and smiling at her when she pulled back. "Come on, show your sister what you've learnt."

"Hey big guy." Thal'ena said, winking at Athrodar. "I see your son is taking after you in your looks the more I see him."

Athrodar tilted his head a little at the Grand Magister and head of Stormwind's Council. "Odd, everyone says he looks more like Sylvanas."

Caught out, Thal'ena rubbed her arm and looked away from him. "Okay, you got me. I'm just dying for some good loving and if I could convince myself that your son looked like you, I could play it off as you and not feel guilty for having the kid I watched grow into a man... You know... Bang my brains out against the headboard."

Athrodar pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a long sigh. "Where are my kids? And don't even think about praying on my son. If I don't kill you, Sylvanas certainly will."

"They're talking to their Uncle. Turalyon is great at what he does, but Titans is he boring company." Thal'ena shook her head and paced a little in the middle of the throne room, a place she spent most of her days after her Queen's death. "It's all 'Light this' and 'Light that'. Like, come on man we get it. You're a Paladin."

Athrodar smiled as he watched and listened to Thal'ena rant, laughing a little and stopping her for a second, being asked what he was laughing at when she narrowed her eyes at him. "I've just missed you, that's all."

"Well... I've missed you too." Thal'ena admitted, looking over to the Council Room and watching both Windrunner children walk into the Throne Room after hearing their father. "There's your kids. Enjoy."

Athrodar hugged Tahnir first, beating his sister to their father but quickly being replaced by Little Alleria who pushed her way into her father's arms. "I see you two aren't as competitive any more." Athrodar said sarcastically.

"I'll let her have this one." Tahnir said, watching his sister hold onto their father as if her life depended on it. "She hasn't stopped talking about seeing you again since we found out you were coming to visit."

Athrodar smiled and stroked his daughter's hair. He was always her favourite parent. She loved Sylvanas with all her heart, but just like Victoria before her, she was always a daddy's girl. "I've missed you both too." He told them, having his daughter tighten her hug.

"I have missed you, papa." She said into his chest, pulling back and smiling at him. "I know he already told you but I really did miss you. And mom, Cedani, Talanas, Vereesa, Rhonin... Basically everyone."

Athrodar cupped his daughter's face in his hands. "Tana said you had something to tell me."

Tahnir took a couple steps back, making his way to Thal'ena who hadn't left, but was now watching on curiously when she saw the eldest Windrunner step back. "What are you..?"

"Just watch." He whispered to the Mage. "Trust me."

"Papa... I'm..." Alleria looked away from Athrodar which made him frown at his daughter. "I'm pregnant..."

Whilst Thal'ena widened her eyes at the news, Tahnir smirked and folded his arms across his chest. "Is she...?" The Mage asked, looking over to Tahnir who was enjoying every second of this. "Oi."

"What?" Tahnir looked over to the Mage who was now confused.

"Is she pregnant?" The Mage asked, all this time having Athrodar stand there in silence and stare at his daughter, a little lost for words.

"Just wait." Tahnir said, looking back to his sister and father.

"Dad?" Alleria asked, a little worried for Athrodar who was standing as still as a statue, just looking at her and saying nothing. "Did you hear me?"

The silence went on for another two minutes before Athrodar moved a hand to her face, placing a gentle hand on his daughter's cheek. "I heard you." He said softly, making Little Alleria uncomfortable. "Who... Who's the father?"

"He uhm... He's in our company." Alleria said, looking back to Tahnir who was enjoying every second of this.

"Take me to him." Athrodar said, trying to keep his cool.

"He's already here..." Alleria said quietly, looking back to Tahnir and having Athrodar look over to his son who had suddenly lost the smile from his face.

Before he could act, Athrodar was already gripping his tunic tightly in his fists and trying his best to look away from his father's fiery gaze. "W-w-wait!" He cried, looking over to Alleria who now had a smirk on her face. "She's lying, dad! You know I wouldn't do anything to her. She's... She's my sister for Titan's sake!"

"So why did she say it was yours?" Athrodar now asked through gritted teeth, glaring at his son.

"She was joking!" He looked over to his sister again, feeling his heart quicken in pace when he saw his father's glare getting angrier. "Alleria, tell him!"

"Hold on, I'm enjoying this."

"Tell me what?" Athrodar asked, narrowing his eyes at his son and know he was now terrified of him.

"Alleria, please!" Tahnir begged, feeling Athrodar reach for the sword on his belt and taking it out of its scabbard, laying his own sword across his neck. "Alleria!"

"Okay, okay... Jeez..." Alleria walked over to her father and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Dad.. Let him go."

"Why? He got you pregnant.. His own sister. I'm going to kill him."

Thal'ena, catching on to what was happening, smiled brightly and walked over to the three of them, standing beside Athrodar and grinning wider at his fiery glare. "Let him go, Athrodar. She's not pregnant."

"What?" Athrodar looked at Thal'ena and softened his glare.

"Titans you're thick sometimes. She's not pregnant, of course your children didn't bump uglies whilst in the forests of Elwynn... They're lying and trying to get a rise out of you." Thal'ena looked over to Alleria who looked down, a little relieved and a little scared at the same time. "Just... Let go of your son and punish them like many other parents before you... Just embarrass them in public. Or tell their mother."

Athrodar looked back to his daughter who was looking down at the floor, realising what Thal'ena said was right. "You lied? You're not pregnant?"

"No... I'm sorry. This was meant to be a joke, I didn't think -"

Athrodar started laughing which then confused both Alleria and Tahnir, making Thal'ena roll her eyes and walk away from the trio. "Oh your mother is going to kill you both..." Athrodar said, hugging Alleria who was still confused. "I can't tell you how happy I am that you're not pregnant."

"Why?" Alleria asked, still confused.

"Because if you were really pregnant. You'd be without a brother... Or I suppose a boyfriend if you told me who it really was." Athrodar said, hearing Alleria sigh and growing a massive smile on his face. "Just remember. If you ever get a boyfriend, I will try my hardest to scare him away, as is my fatherly duty."

"It's true." Thal'ena told them, standing beside the throne she had tried her hardest to make sure nobody sat on since Victoria. "Ask Tanadia. He maybe didn't try his hardest to scare away Anduin when they dated, but I think he just had a soft spot for making Tanadia happy, so he let her have him for however long they were together."

"So why do you want to kill them now?" Alleria asked, looking up at her father. "Do you not love me as much as you love Tana?" She pouted at her father, trying to act all innocent and cute to win him over.

"I do. I just have more experience at being a father now. So I will kill them if they touch you." He said with a smirk, kissing her forehead and hearing her sigh. "Come on, your mother wants to see you both." He looked over his shoulder and towards Tahnir. "And yes, I would have killed you if she was pregnant. Or banished you from the family at the very least."

"Brilliant..." Tahnir muttered, rubbing his arm. "Sorry for that, dad... We thought it would be funny, but I didn't think she would say it was mine."

"You live and you learn." He said, walking out of Stormwind Keep with his two children.

"Mage portals really do take it out of the young, don't they?" Liadrin asked rhetorically, smiling and looking at both Cedani and Talanas, who had passed the tests and got into the Ranger Academy in Stormwind, sleep on the pews in Stormwind Cathedral. They were both leaning on each other beside their mother who was just smiling and watching them the entire time.

"I'm over the moon he got into the academy here, but I don't want to let my little boy go." Sylvanas' smile saddened a little, stretching her hand out towards his head and stroking his hair lightly. "He'll be close to his siblings in the city, but away from us for the first time in his life."

Liadrin placed a hand on Sylvanas' knee just as Athrodar, Little Alleria and Tahnir walked into the Cathedral. "You've still got Cedani and your husband. I'm almost certain they will keep you happy and distracted whilst he's here."

Athrodar sat on the other side of Sylvanas and kissed her temple. "We will. Vereesa too, though maybe not Alleria. She will have to go back to leading a company of rangers again after having a few months off to be with you both."

"Then I'm glad I have you then." Sylvanas whispered to him, burying her head in his neck. "And you two." She said louder, looking up at her son and daughter who looked down at her and smiled, though there were hints of worry in their eyes and she picked up on it almost instantly. "What's wrong?" She asked, pulling back and looking at her husband with narrowed eyes. "What did you do?"

"This time, nothing." Athrodar planted another kiss on her temple, making Sylvanas a little skeptical but waiting for the truth behind their behavior. "It was all their doing."

"Okay... What did you two do?" She then asked, moving her head back to her husband's neck to feel safe whilst looking up at her children.

"I uhm..." Alleria let out a small laugh and rubbed the back of her neck. "I tried to play a joke on dad and it backfired... Badly."

"Tell your mother what it was." Athrodar then said, smiling and closing his eyes as he enjoyed the closeness with his wife whilst his two children embarrassed themselves in front of her.

"I said I was pregnant when I'm not..." Alleria said quietly, looking over to Tahnir who looked away from them all. "I then decided to get my own back on Tahnir and said he was the father." She flinched when she saw her mother sit up in the corner of her eye, knowing she was both shocked at the choice of father but curious on how her husband reacted to it. "Turns out dad didn't find it funny and threatened to kill Tahnir."

Sylvanas looked at her husband and saw he was happy with his choice and patting him on the chest. "Good boy." She said, grinning at him before looking back to her children who were standing there awkwardly. "As for you two. I just have to ask. Why?"

Both Tahnir and Alleria looked at each other, quickly averting each other's gazes when they felt awkward about the whole thing. "I think whatever the reason was, it was no longer worth it." Athrodar said, chuckling lightly and kissing the top of Sylvanas' head as she cuddled in closer to him. "How were the other two? Did Talanas get in?"

"He did." Sylvanas told him, smiling at just mentioning her son got into the Ranger Academy. "He will be leaving to stay there in two weeks time whilst we get our little Cedani to ourselves. Tanadia on the other hand, has offered to come back with us for a few months just to be with her sister and her father."

"And you." Tanadia said, overhearing them whilst she read up on a book that caught her interest a couple days ago. "Can't ignore my mother, even if she constantly tells me she doesn't want to replace my birth mother." She looked over to Sylvanas and smiled at her. "Besides, I could teach a few Pandaren some basic healing spells if ever they wanted to learn how. Plus I want to see how my little sister is getting along with her garden."

Sylvanas smiled and glanced over to her two youngest who were still asleep on each other. "She would love to have you there. Maybe she will teach you a couple things about maintaining a garden."

Tanadia laughed, nodding her head. "I hope so."

Vereesa stood on the bridge of the Valley of Heroes, looking up at the statue of her eldest sister and smiling. She was waiting for the rest of her family as they were minutes from arriving so they could return home. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she always liked to stand in front of the statue and just look at it. She believes it reminds her that her sister is home now, but she wasn't certain on it.

"I thought you'd be here." Sylvanas said softly, standing beside her sister and looking up at the statue. "She's staying here to take over a company for a few months. Tahnir and little Alleria too, though no doubt our sister will place herself as their Captain the second she gets the chance."

Vereesa laughed and nodded her head in agreement, looking passed her sister and towards Athrodar and Rhonin who were carrying Cedani and Talanas, both of which were still sleeping. "D'aww, look."

Sylvanas looked back at the four of them and had her heart melt. She left before they did just to meet up with her sister, not knowing they were both carrying her little angels. "Hand me my son, Rhonin. So you can work on the portal."

"Okay." Rhonin said softly, handing Talanas over to his mother and conjuring a portal back to their Pandaren Village. He watched Athrodar and Sylvanas walk through first, looking back to Tanadia who was saying goodbye to Liadrin and receiving a kiss on her cheek before having the life squeezed out of her for a few seconds. "Ready?" He asked, smiling at the priestess who nodded and smiled up at him.

"Oh yeah. I'm ready to go home and be with my family for a while." She looked back at the portal seconds before walking through it and appearing in the middle of her family's village. "Every time."

Closing the portal behind him, Rhonin stood beside Tanadia and looked down at her. "What's every time?" He asked, watching Sylvanas and Athrodar enter their home to place their children in their beds.

"The feeling of peace. Knowing that nothing bad will happen here, not like what I got in Windrunner Village..." Tanadia closed her eyes and tried to forget that day. One of the worst days of her life. "After Dael'Thalas, I just can't go back to Quel'thalas."

Rhonin placed a hand on her shoulder. "I can understand that."

Tanadia smiled up at her uncle. "I best go get my room sorted out. Hopefully it hasn't changed much since I last visited."

Entering her new home for the next few months, Tanadia walked passed Talanas' bedroom and looked inside when she saw Sylvanas sitting on the side of her son's bed, just watching him sleep in silence. "Trying to get as much time with him as possible, aren't you?" She whispered to her step mom, making Sylvanas smile but not look around to see her.

"I am." She said softly, stroking some of her son's hair as he slept and taking in as much of him as she could. "Two more weeks with him then he is practically on his own out there."

"Tahnir, Alleria and I will look after him when I return." Tanadia told her, leaning up against the frame of the door and watching Sylvanas' unwavering focus remain on her son. "I'm almost certain Alina and her rangers will look out for him whilst they teach him and his class."

"They will." Sylvanas agreed, standing up off the bed and turning to face Tanadia. "I'm glad you're here with us. I feel like I don't get to see you any more."

Tanadia stepped forward and hugged her. "You will now. I need a break from the constant research and high level training I have been doing these last couple of years. Time with you and papa should do me the world of good."

Sylvanas kissed the priestess on the temple and smiled warmly at her. "It will." She agreed, looking at her husband who was slowly closing the door to Cedani's room. "Looks like it's time for bed anyway. Your brother and sister are tucked in and your father looks tired." She pulled back and cupped Tanadia's face in her hands. "We'll speak more tomorrow, okay?"

Tanadia nodded her head and smiled. "Deal."
