A/N:
I have done nothing since the last upload beside study and play League of Legends.
Thanks for the review Guy Named Tom, I'll be sure to take your advice on pacing and detailing. As always, I hope you guys find this chapter's reference, last week's reference was to Durarara and please post any criticisms. Sorry about not posting for a weekmonth two months, I was busy playing League of Legends and a lot of studying. Btw I'm probably gonna rewrite the first few chapters, including this one, eventually.
The sisters stared at Nino, who was standing above a fast asleep Fuutaro, laying on the floor. To the other sister's shock, Itsuki was the first to speak out against Nino.
"Nino! What are you doing!" Itsuki ran up to her sister and the boy, causing Nino to nonchalantly look at Itsuki, stare at her ocean blue eyes, and simply shrug in response.
"I don't trust him, and I won't let him enter our home, our lives. Ichika and Yotsuba rushed over to Fuutaro and picked him up, bringing him over to the couch and placing him down. Miku slowly stepped away from the scene, not wanting to be associated with what was happening. Itsuki felt her blood boiling and was prepared to let out a thunderous scream at her sister before Ichika spoke up.
"Nino, you can't just drug someone. What if Uesugi-kun gets hurt, or what if his family sues? How is father going to react to this?" These words were enough to wake Nino up to what she had done. Her once bold demeanour disintegrated away, giving way to worry, making Nino start picking at her lips, almost letting out blood before Itsuki was able to grab her hand to stop her. Yotsuba called to the other sisters to help her take care of Fuutaro, ordering Miku to bring a hot towel and getting Ichika to bring a pillow, Nino even began to help (albeit because she was afraid, rather than feeling guilty), searching up how to prevent any issues after being roofied.
Itsuki decided to take the route none of the other sisters wanted to take, and called her father, making all her other sisters' plea for her to stop once they realised what she was doing, especially Nino.
"Hello, father."
"Hello, Itsuki, may I ask why you're calling me while I'm at work?" Itsuki gulped after hearing her father's words, knowing that she's about to throw her sister under the thousand-ton bus that is her father's wrath.
"Nino roofied Uesugi-San to try get rid of him…"
"Did I hear that correctly, Itsuki." Although he spoke in his usual monotone voice, Itsuki could hear the surprise, the anger in his voice.
"Yes, father…"
The sisters father hung up, telling Itsuki all she needed to know about what was going to happen. Itsuki turned around to see Nino crying and being comforted by Miku. Itsuki did feel bad for her sister, but she needed to be punished for her mistake. The sisters spent 20 minutes in silence, occasionally interrupted by a whimper from Nino, waiting, until they heard a knock on their door.
Yotsuba slowly walked to the door and opened it, allowing the girls' father, Nakano Maruo, and their butler, Ebata, into the house. Maruo didn't even bother to greet the girls, deciding to instead walk towards the sleeping Fuutaro, pull out a needle and inject him with something.
"Something experimental made by the hospital, it should wake him up in a matter of minutes. It is not the most ethical choice to use experimental products, but I'm certain it will work." Maruo got up and turned around, giving his daughters a stare with his eyes, pupils as black as his hair, slit like that of a snake. "Now then, I believe I have to talk to you, Nino." This made all the sisters jump and stare at their father with fear, especially the one who did the crime.
"Nino, I believe I told you that the Rohypnol was only for you to take when you can't sleep. You have betrayed me and gone against my instructions. Although I understand you may not want a stranger in your lives, you never have. But what you have done is a crime and if Fuutaro decides you should be punished, I won't help protect you. You can only hope that he accepts your apology."
Nino was tearing up once more, preparing to let the waterworks loose, before a groan was let out by the boy in question.
"Goddamn, feels like I just got shot…" Fuutaro awoke from his drug fuelled slumber only to wish he hadn't woken up. Once he saw Maruo, he could instantly assume who he was. His eyes that were colder and deader than his own struck fear into his heart, and doubt in his mind about his mission.
"Hello, Uesugi Fuutaro. I'm Nakano Maruo. Please, follow Ebata and I, Nino, you come too." Fuutaro slowly lifted himself up without question and limped alongside the despondent girl. Itsuki tried to get her words out of her mouth, wishing to come with them as well, but she found a lump in her throat blocking the words from exiting.
The four people in the car drove in an awkward silence from the beginning of the drive, all the way to the halfway point. Fuutaro thought to himself, blasting himself for falling for Nino's trick. 'You had to accept the fucking drink didn't you, goddamn idiot. Maybe I should spend some time refining my skills in close up kills, it has been awhile since I did one, is that why I'm struggling so much?.' Soon enough, Maruo became sick of the silence and spoke up.
"My apologies for this recent turn of events, Fuutaro, I did not expect a daughter of mine to do something such as this, I'll be sure you are compensated for the trouble. Nino…" Maruo stared at his daughter, who had been sitting in the limousine with a pained expression plastered on her face.
"I'm sorry…" she muttered out in a barely audible voice. Maruo wanted to force her daughter to say it louder but decided to let it go for now. He let out a breath and closed his eyes.
"We'll be dropping you off at your residence, talk to your father, and have Nino apologise to him as well. I've already alerted him about the matter." Fuutaro just nodded in response, planning his next move, only to be interrupted by the screeching of tires and the limousine making a sudden stop, surprising Fuutaro. He grabbed onto the limousine and looked out the window to see his house.
Maruo and Nino walked out the limousine and walked up the road, only to see Isanari already waiting at the door, with a serious expression on his face, one that was all familiar to Fuutaro, but completely foreign to Raiha and Maruo. Seeing the man like that, Maruo felt the fear others felt about him, making him shudder.
Fuutaro and Ebata followed far behind, as the father and daughter walked into the Uesugi household, Ebata and Fuutaro heard the rustling of clothes, and a not so discreet sound of a handgun being racked. Fuutaro gave his father a nod and grabbed one of his pins, letting his old man know something was wrong.
Quickly, Isanari slammed the door shut, causing Nino and Maruo to give him a questioning look.
"It seemed like Fuutaro and your butler wanted to talk, Maruo, let's give them some privacy. Do you want a drink?" the usually upbeat Isanari coldly stated, once again putting the fear of god into Maruo.
Ebata and the boy knew they were being listened to, speaking in Japanese was out of the question, if the assassin was with them then German was out of the question, too, everyone with them knew German. The boy thought about trying to ask Ebata if he could speak another language, or if they could pass notes, but another rustle behind the pair indicated the man had realised what was happening, and that the time to strategize had passed. The elderly man and young boy slowly turned around and faced the man.
"Well, no point in trying strategize, looks like he already knows what's up, Ebata."
"Yes, it seems so."
The man behind the two realised he lost his opportunity, his target escaped, and what was left behind was two men staring back at him, two men who were clearly from the same family as him. His patience grew thin, and he brought himself out into the open, revealing his dirty, scarred, and unshaven face, lightened up from a nearby streetlamp. He'd rather not have done this the hard way, but whatever it takes. He lifted his pistol and aimed to the boy's head.
"Say, how about you show him what you can do with your hair pins, hmm? I've heard a lot about them." The man paused at the butler's words, hair pins?
The boy took 16 bobby pins from his hair letting his hair loose. He quickly grabbed their tips with his fingers, applying a tiny bit of force, and causing the tips to fly away and reveal tiny, yet incredibly sharp and pointy blades. Quickly spinning around, he sent his pins flying, surprising the man, and leaving him in immense pain as the blades created tiny holes that would get filled by the bobby pins lodging themselves deep into the wounds of the man. Ebata saw his opportunity and rushed towards the man, striking him several times around the body before giving him three final blows to the head, ending the man's life mercilessly and quickly.
"Really, couldn't leave him alive long enough for us to question him, Ebata?" The boy questioned, grabbing a new set of pins from seemingly nowhere and doing his hair back up. Ebata in response, chuckled, causing Fuutaro to let out a disappointed sigh.
"I'll call Orihara of Shinjuku, he'll clean up for us, help me get his body into an alley or something." Fuutaro looked at Ebata expectantly, only to see him continue smiling in silence. Fuutaro picked up the dead man's body and started looking around the alleys.
After 5 minutes of searching for a 'perfect dumpster' as Fuutaro described it and finally sending the message to the 'Orihara of Shinjuku' Ebata and Fuutaro finally walked to the Uesugi household.
'I had a perfectly fine time letting that man lose his life, so what's the big deal with them? I've barely even learnt anything about them and they're somehow giving me trouble…' Fuutaro's thoughts were quickly disrupted by Ebata speaking up.
"So, Fuutaro, do you know of the competition? The one to kill the quintuplets?" Ebata asked, Fuutaro felt himself break into a cold sweat. Ebata stared back at him without his signature smile. Rather, Ebata's face was serious, more so than Fuutaro had ever expected possible.
"I'll ask you once more, Uesugi Fuutaro, do you know of the competition to kill the Quintuplets?" Fuutaro remained composed, only giving Ebata a poker face that held no answers. He shook his head, only for Ebata to reply with a disgusted glare.
"I doubt you haven't. You are one of the best after all. Fuutaro, I recommend you do not do anything foolish. Master Nakano doesn't know for now, but if he were to find out about it, and if he were to find out you would dare partake in any event, your families debts will be the last of your worries. So once more, I recommend you don't do anything foolish."
Fuutaro stared back, hiding his fear behind his poker face. He gulped and motioned for Ebata to follow. Once they reached the Uesugi household, Fuutaro opened the door and allowed Ebata to walk in first, before letting himself in. The first thing the pair saw was Nino and Maruo sitting at a table in fear, with Isanari on the other side, clutching an opaque glass that was beginning to break from the sheer pressure of his grip. Seeing the opportunity to release some tension, Maruo quickly diverted the attention to the petrified Ebata and Fuutaro.
"I-If you don't mind me asking, what were you two doing outside?" Ebata jumped, realising the whole rooms attention, including Isanari's, was on him. He tried to keep his smile on but the sweat covering his face made it clear he was uncomfortable.
"I was just getting to know Master Fuutaro and his character, sir!" Ebata replied with a salute. Isanari soon caught on to what was happening and stared back at Maruo again.
"Oi oi oi, Maruo, let's not change the conversation, right?" Maruo sighed and fixed his tie, before beginning his explanation, knowing he'll soon feel a force he's only felt once before. Maruo began to explain the events of today, leading to Nino's head tilting down more and Isanari gripping his cup even harder. Once the story was finished, Isanari applied one last bit of pressure, causing the glass to explode in his hand, letting out a waterfall of blood. Everyone gasped in response besides Fuutaro.
"kekekkk" Isanari tried to stifle himself, only to burst "HAHAHAHA, YOU REALLY FELL FOR IT?" Fuutaro sighed, knowing of his father's trickery, but everyone else only stared in shock. Isanari put his head onto the table and began slamming it.
"Sorry, sorry, hehe, just some Uesugi household dark humour, a sugar glass cup filled with red-dyed liquid, hehehe…" Maruo and Ebata stared at Isanari first in shock, only to realise they had fallen for one of Isanari's old tricks. Nino on the other hand kept her shocked face 'what is wrong with this family?' she thought to herself.
Fuutaro went up to Isanari, grabbed his hair and slammed his head into the table. 'Seriously, what is wrong with this family?!'
"So, I got drugged, and this is how you respond?!" Fuutaro repeatedly slammed his father's head into the table with more and more power with every strike. Once Fuutaro finally finished, Isanari looked back at Maruo with his bruised face.
"Y'know, despite the fact he's an asshole and I couldn't care less since he didn't get hurt, Fuutaro is right, I should care about this a bit more…" Isanari quickly pointed at Maruo with a smile on his face, quickly deciding to take advantage of the situation.
"You can treat me and Raiha to some food! I'll go wake her up!" Fuutaro watched on in disappointment as Isanari ran up the steps.
"He didn't ask for money… He didn't ask for any compensation… he asks for ramen… and he doesn't even decide to include me?! ISANARI I'LL BLOODY KILL YOU, YOU KNOW I WILL!" Fuutaro fell back onto the couch and began to slam his head into the wall behind him, to the surprise of everyone else in the room.
Raiha ran down the steps in a flash "Mister Maruo, you're taking us for ramen?" the little girl beamed. Nino felt a blush develop on her face, she slowly brought out her hand and placed it on the girl's head. Raiha looked up and her smile grew more.
"Are you one of Onii-Chan's students?!" Raiha began to quickly jump up and down, making Nino fall back a bit. She crouched down and looked her in the eyes.
"Uh, y-yeah, I am…" Nino felt a primordial urge in her, forcing her to pat the little girl. Much to the dismay of Fuutaro, who was cringing at seeing someone else pat his sister. Isanari finally came down and calmed Raiha. He placed her right on his shoulders and walked out the door, followed by Maruo and Ebata. Nino tried to follow but was greeted by Isanari's hand.
"Maybe you two should stay behind and try to get to know each other, hm?" The man suggested, making Nino recoil in surprise and Fuutaro cough and look at his father in disgust. Before Fuutaro could object Isanari stuck out his tongue at him and closed the door. Fuutaro walked over to the door only to hear an engine revving and tires skidding. He stood there for a further minute or so before going to the fridge. 'This is gonna be a bit troublesome now, isn't it? I was already having trouble with them, but now that Ebata knows, if any of them die he'll be suspecting me, and that'll screw me over.'
Fuutaro removed a bottle of water and looked back at Nino.
"Hey, want a drink? We have water, and even more water, I promise it's not drugged." Fuutaro chuckled to himself before standing up. He looked back only to be shocked, seeing Nino blushing.
"L-Look, I said I was sorry! No need to be such an asshole about it!"
"You drugged me, I think I can be as much of a jerk as I want to be." Fuutaro instantly began to regret saying that seeing the tears well up in her eyes.
"Oh come on please, don't cry- look I'm sorry…" Fuutaro walked over to Nino and handed her the bottle of water, as well as a box of tissues.
'GOD. FUCKING. DAMMIT FUUTARO! WHY ARE YOU BEING NICE?' Nino took the tissues and wiped her eyes and began to chug her water. "So, you wanna speak about it, Nino?"
The red haired girl looked at Fuutaro, before looking at the ground.
"Why is it that some random creep from our school has to be our tutor? It's so fucking stupid! Why would papa allow this?" Fuutaro looked at the girl, feeling something, though he couldn't tell whether it was remorse, or pity.
'God, this is sad, though maybe I could use it to my advantage…" Fuutaro let out a sigh, before deciding to make an offer.
"Alright, if you don't trust me so much, then why not let me try tutor you all, just once? Let's see who can prove worthy. If I can help you all pass your next test, then you'll let me tutor you, but if any of you fail, I'll quit." Fuutaro outstretched his hand, waiting for Nino to either accept or refuse.
After a second of consideration, Nino took his hand and shook it, with a smirk on her face.
'He doesn't know anything about me or my sisters, there's no way he'll be able to win, but…'
"How are you so confident about this? You'll lose your job if you don't." Fuutaro chuckled to himself.
"I was told I needed to help you 5 pass and graduate, and that you all came here from a previous school. If you all failed so badly, then I'll have to really work hard to make sure you all graduate. If there's something I love, it's a challenge, and also money."
Nino nodded her head, but she still had a questioning look on her face.
"One more question, why is everyone in your family so weird?"
A/N:
Yeah I realise this is a shorter chapter than usual, but it's more just to reinvigorate me and make me begin writing again, as I said I'll be rewriting all the chapters up to this one, and I'll probably do all of that in the next week and a half and then upload a new chapter, Have a good one.
