Chapter 152 - Blighter Again
"...!?" the adults reacted with a couple of blinks and staring at the middle agent. An awkward silence passed by in which the federal official removed his hands off of the male teen's shoulders. Dr. McCole was still trying to process what was happening when he saw Jin turn toward him.
"...is there a spare room...to use doctor?" he asked in a stoic tone and returning his expression to being neutral.
"..." the man initially answered then blinked again. "...there are a couple that are empty."
"May one be used for the interview?"
"...sure..." the doctor replied then glanced over at his parents. Seeing the father look apprehensive, Mrs. Ainsley looked to be slowly crumbling. Trying to figure out what was the best course of action, he glanced at the male teen. Flinching, he was being stared at hard by the sophomore. Deciding to make a decision, he pressed his lips together before speaking again.
"We'll use one that is down the hallway a bit," he began then headed to the door. "Please follow."
"..." the group stated seeing the agents turn around and follow the doctor out. Seeing Jin turn around and begin to walk out, it caused a few people to start before stopping themselves. Only the female teen did not stop and grabbed his left arm. Instead of speaking out loud, she leaned closer to him to whisper.
"Why are you...behaving this way?" Renee questioned concerned.
"..." he spoke and gave her a stare at the corner of his eyes.
"...!?" she reacted with surprise from seeing how his gaze appeared. About to ask, she saw the FBI trio begin to turn around.
"...sorry..." the male teen said quietly. Pulling his arm free, he began walking again. Seeing him get outside, the hospital room door slowly closed.
"..." the people in the room stated. Remaining quiet, they listened to the faint footsteps going away from the door. When none were heard, everyone turned to face each other. A mixture of emotions and expressions were seen along everyone. Already feeling uncomfortable with the atmosphere, Tiffany wanted to break the tension from disliking it.
"...so...that is Jin...when he is angry," she commented then looked at Renee. "Does he get like that when you two played hon?"
'...despite being stressed out and tired...he dislikes being pushed around,' the female teen contemplated before answering.
"When he gets pushed around by someone like a persistent bully...he tends to be more vocal than giving scary expressions," she replied then put her hands behind her. "Most of the time, Jin won't continue confrontation and just walk away...right Mrs. Ainsley?"
"..." Samantha answered looking down at the floor. Prompting her elbows on her knees, she held her head with her hands and tried breathing long and steady.
"...you alright...?" Alex asked cautiously trying not to let his riled up emotions speak first.
"..." Mrs. Ainsley replied remaining quiet. Feeling someone getting near her, it was her youngest son.
"...mom...?" Gene called quietly.
"...yes...honey?" she said continuing to stare at the ground.
"...Big brother...will be fine...right?"
"...I...don't know..."
With the group walking down the hallway, Dr. McCole lead with Jin following him. Behind them were the three agents. Jin saw the doctor glance to his left to look behind him and made eye contact with him. Slowing down to be beside him, he began to whisper while keeping his face forward.
"Could you fill me in on what... that stunt was back there?" he asked then glanced at the male teen.
"...I'm very irritable at the moment..." the sophomore answered quietly without looking at him.
"I can understand about your parents withholding secrets from you...but is that the sole reason?"
"Being trapped in virtual reality then come out to puke my guts is uplifting too," he stated with no fluctuations in his voice.
"...I can understand that..."
"Having a powerhouse individual dictate and push his weight around on others...is not sitting well either," Jin added.
"I agree on that," the medical staffer agreed. Turning to the right to go down another hallway, the three agents behind continued following.
"I kind of loss my cool when I was told those three showed up," the man remarked.
"..." Jin commented with just blinking. "The sooner they...are dealt with...the better."
"Indeed."
Passing a couple of doors, Dr. McCole stopped at one to his right. Trying the door, it was unlocked. Opening it and turning on the lights, it revealed a spare office space. With a few furniture, tables, and desks around, there was enough room to spread out for five people. Upon everyone getting inside, both Jin and the doctor turned around.
"This is suitable," the middle agent stated. Nodding to the other two, they bobbed their heads and walked toward one of the weighted tables. Picking it up and bringing it to the center space that was empty, they placed it down. While they turned around to get chairs, the lead federal official placed his travel briefcase on the table.
"While my colleagues get chairs for us to sit, I will get documents out for the interview," he informed and unlocked his luggage.
"Sounds fine," Dr. McCole stated. As three chairs were placed at the table, Jin, the doctor, and the federal agent took a seat. To the lead's right, one of the agents stood nearby. The remaining one stood in front of the door they used to get in.
"..." the male teen mentioned observing their placements around the room. Committing it to memory, he made sure to stay focus at what was going to be presented in front of him. Looking at the opened briefcase, it doubled as an audio recording unit along with luggage storage.
"...alright...I'm all set up," the head of the trio began then picked up a couple of documents. Putting them on the other side of the table, it showed a lot of text with highlighted parts.
"Since you are still a minor Jin and that we bypassed your parents being involved, we still need a written consent from either your parents or your doctor to proceed forward. From there, we can get started. So I need a signature from both of you on these two separate documents
"Okay," Dr. McCole spoke and reached for a pen in his pocket. Grabbing one and clicking the pen top to come out, he grabbed hold of the paper. Descending his hand down to sign it, he noticed that the male teen did not get one of the pens. Instead, he began reading it.
"I can assure you Jin that it is just legal documentations and text regarding you being a minor and what the laws states when dealing with underage individuals. If you were an adult, you'd only see a smaller portion of the documents," the agent explained.
"Kay," the male teen responded. Not nodding his head, he continued reading.
"..." the doctor said blinking a couple of times. Not changing his expression, he made it look like he saw something on the paper. Putting his pen down, he picked up the paper and read it.
"Something wrong doctor?"
"Just re-reading something to know what I read."
"I can help you if you don't understand the acknowledgement and consent form. It is very standard legal procedures."
"Thanks, but I will just read it for myself again."
"Very well," the federal official said. Putting his forearms on the table, he clasped his hands together and stared at them. After about five minutes going by of silence, the doctor found something. Forcing himself to not blink or make an expression, he re-read it again.
'...what...what the hell is this!?' he thought feeling a mixture of emotions building. Taking a quick look at the male teen, he moved his head up and placed the document on the table.
"Have you finished reading everything Mr. Ainsley?"
"I have," Jin answered. Looking up at the agent, he gave a stoic expression and only blinked at him.
"Good," the man stated and passed him a pen. "If you will just sign where indicated."
"No," the sophomore said flatly. "I will not."
"Excuse me?" he asked with a blink.
"Are you deaf?" Jin asked with a straight face.
"...you do realize you are under federal investigation son. You are obligated by the law to cooperate."
"...really?" the male teen questioned without changing his expression. Picking up the paper and turning it around, he handed it to the agent.
"I'm assuming you read the document prior to coming here. Yes?"
"What are you driving at? Are you trying to insult me?" the federal official asked with a stern expression. He did not grab the paper that the teen was handing to him.
"Why not read the fine print...out loud...that is placed underneath the signatures you are asking me and the doctor to sign?"
"Are you saying you can't understand the legal terms-"
"Are you trying to mock me sir? Because if you are when I have every right to know what I am signing for, then you are a fraud."
'...he did see it...that makes me feel a little better...' Dr. McCole thought while placing his document on the table. It caused the agent to turn toward him.
"Are you signing the document doctor?"
"No. I am not."
"May I ask why?"
"In reading the fine print, it makes me suspect if you really are with the FBI."
"You two are making grave accusations when both of you are high suspects in this cyber-terrorism case," the agent stated still not grabbing the document that Jin was still handing to him.
"Then prove me wrong...read out loud...the fine...print," the male teen stated again. "Or is it that you can't read?"
"..." the man responded with staring hard at the teenager. After a couple of seconds, he sighed through his nose. Looking to his right at the standing agent, he turned back to the two.
"If you want to do this the hard way, then we can change it into an interrogation...based on your unwillingness to cooperate," he stated.
At the same time, the other man walked toward the sophomore and pulled something out. Only Dr. McCole glanced over and felt his apprehension rise from the sight of black gloves being put on by the approaching man. Keeping quiet, he felt himself start to shake from what could happen. Oddly though, Jin remained his stare down match with the federal official across from him. When the other agent got beside the teenager, he took the document out of the sophomore's hand and put it on the table.
"You will sign the document like a good boy and stop this act," the sitting agent stated still with a stern expression.
"Hmm...let me think about it...no," Jin responded with sarcasm and without hesitation. Seeing him look disappointed, he glanced at his partner and nodded. In response, the gloved federal official placed his right hand on the teen's left shoulder and held it.
"I am losing my patience...sign the document or we will influence you."
"Maybe you should go to a repair shop because you sound like a broken record," the sophomore answered and leaned forward a little. "...and it is still...no."
"..." the man said sighing through his nose. Shifting his weight a little to lean back in his chair, he interlaced his fingers together.
'...we let in three con-artists...to sign our rights away in a pending court trial...and they are willing to beat up or torture a child to get these documents signed,' Dr. McCole thought quickly.
Looking to his left and seeing the gloved agent cock back his left arm, he threw it forward toward Jin's head who was still leaning forward. As if the teen knew, he pulled back quickly evading getting punched in the head. Without stopping, he reached up quickly and murderously grabbed the man's black business coat collar. Dropping himself to the ground and pulling his arms down hard, the agent's head slammed into the table with loud bang.
Seeing the man get knocked out, Jin rushed under the table. Shooting up and pushing the table edge toward the agent that was sitting, it caused the man to fall backwards with the chair. Hitting the ground, the table flipped onto him shortly after pinning him a little. Startled from the rapid turn of events, the doctor saw Jin turn around and rushed forward. Turning himself in his seat, he saw the teen pick up his chair. At the same time, his eyes widen from seeing the last agent start to pull out a handgun from his inner coat.
Throwing the furniture forward to the remaining man, Jin continued sprinting. Seeing the individual sidestep to evade the rushing airborne chair, Jin saw the pistol. Glaring and gritting his teeth, he threw his elbow into the man's gut hard. Hearing the man gasp in surprise, the sophomore grabbed the semi-pulled out firearm with two hands. Gripping it hard and pivoting to his right, he tried ripping the gun out of the man's hand.
Successful, Jin turned around and took a couple of steps back. Putting the pistol in his hands and getting into a firing stance, he pointed it at the man who stopped. Seeing him put his hands up and slowly rising, he was about to speak when the aim of the weapon went a little lower. Firing two shots that sounded like blasts in the room, one bullet went into each thigh of the individual. Hearing the man cry out in pain and fall to the floor, Jin turned around.
"...holy shit..." Dr. McCole spoke feeling relief and shock at the same time. Seeing the same look on the teen's face before he was about to get punched in the face, he walked over to where the struggling agent was trying to get free. Seeing Jin resume a firing stance and walk briskly toward the man, the doctor was not able to stand up from feeling his legs still locked.
"..." the sophomore spoke seeing that the middle federal official was still only partially stuck. Unable to get to his inner coat in time, he slowly put his hands up.
"You won't get away-ARGH!" the man began when he got shot in the shoulder. Cringing hard and gripping his shoulder, he looked up angry. Flinching, the teenager had crouched next to him and put the semi-hot end of the pistol on his right temple.
"...you ready...for the interrogation...or do you want a dirt nap?" the sophomore stated evenly with an icy stare.
"..."
"..." Ami said sitting on the bed of her hospital room.
Bitter about being forced to stay in her assigned chamber, she decided to not rebel for a certain length of time. About to lay down, she could hear voices going down the hallway. Recognizing it to be the father figure, she watched the door and waited. As his voice passed by her room, she focused back to lying down. Resting her head on the pillow, she didn't feel tired at all.
'...this anxiety...is annoying...' she thought to herself and frowned a little. '...all due from those mortals...getting in the way...'
'And now...Lamashtu is attempting to blend in with this world...her act of coy to deceive the family of the soul she possessed...is cowardness of being true to oneself.'
'Expressing her desire to take Jin for herself,' Selbith thought frowning more. 'I will end her first before she can.'
"...that doctor mortal can rot..." she mentioned to herself and got up.
Getting off the bed and heading toward the room's door, she put her ear to it. Not hearing anything, she grabbed the door handle and opened it silently. Once ajar and hearing more in the hallway, there seemed to be many footsteps. Waiting until the footsteps lessened, she opened the door more and peered into the passageway. Immediately identifying two individuals in the fading group of people, Selbith got out.
'Who are the three in dark clothing?' she wondered closing her door quietly. Looking behind her first then back forward, she began to follow them from a distance.
"..." Renee spoke feeling uncomfortable in the room with the others. The tension that was created and now lingering made her want to leave. Glancing at the narrow glass window of the door, she saw someone passing by.
'...what is Selbith doing...is she,' she thought getting irritated. Telling herself what alibi she needed, she turned and headed for the room's door.
"Where are you going hon?" Tiffany asked quietly but loud enough to be heard.
"I'm going to use the restroom," the junior replied back.
Seeing her mother nod, she blinked and continued. Being silent as possible when opening and closing the door, she was out in the hallway again. Turning toward the direction she saw Ami go, she followed. Going some distance, Renee saw Ami peering around a corner into another hallway. Instead of calling out to her, she just followed.
'I swear...if she messes this up for-!?' she thought then heard a dull boom.
It sounded as if something heavy dropped on the floor or fell over. Looking at Selbith, she gave indication of hearing it too and saw her go into the hallway. Continuing and rounding the corner, something hard slammed into one of the hospital room doors up ahead. Seeing that it was the one further away from where Ami was, both hurried to that chamber. Halfway there, two gunshots were heard coming from that space.
'...oh my god...no!' the female teen thought in fear. Hearing the sound of a person in pain, everything began to tense up. Rushing to where Ami was, the other teen was peering in the view window. Not saying anything to her, she peered above her to see what was happening in the room as well.
"What are you doing here thief?" Ami whispered seeing Jin move quickly toward the tipped over heavy table.
"Making sure you are not interfering again," Renee whispered back.
Seeing him look like he was talking to someone, both flinched a little from seeing the gun he was holding fire. Hearing another person in pain, the male teen crouched then pointed the muzzle to where the person he shot was on the ground. Feeling Selbith move back, she grabbed the door handle. Not resisting her and stepping back, the room door opened. Upon entering in the room, there was a federal agent on the ground with bleeding thighs. He looked to be in a lot of pain
"...call for help...get security..." the man struggled gritting his teeth. "The kid is insane."
"If anything mortal...you and two others couldn't defeat a hospital patient that is smaller than you...how embarrassing for you," Ami corrected with a cruel smirk. "Getting wounded was from your own stupidity."
"...you...bitch..." the man stated in pain and anger. Attempting to crawl forward, he tried grabbing the female teen's ankle's. Missing one, it was lifted up and the bottom of the shoe slammed into his face.
"Don't touch me you dead weight."
"..." Renee reacted with seeing what was happening. Leaving Selbith and going toward the doctor, she glanced at the other fallen agent. Seeing the man out cold, there was a growing redness on his forehead and face.
"...doctor...are you okay?" she asked seeing him beginning to stand up.
"Yes...a little shook up...but I am fine," Dr. McCole answered with a relieved look on his face. "Excuse me, I need to use a phone."
"S-sure," the junior commented seeing him turn around.
Not in hesitation or rushing, the medical official went to a wall phone and picked up. Leaving him to do that, she flinched from hearing a loud dull smack. Turning around, Jin was still crouching near what looked like another agent. Seeing the bruised mark on the man's right cheek, he had a bullet wound in his right shoulder as well. Seeing the pistol being brought back from being used as a club, the sophomore pointed the barrel back at the man's right temple.
"I'm still waiting...for an answer...sir," Jin stated in an even voice.
"...you are in...so much shit...it is not...even funny," the agent responded sharply with a glare.
"...I see..." he commented. Slowly standing up while keeping the gun pointed at the man, he viciously stomped on the federal official's wounded shoulder.
"..." Renee cringed hearing the man groaning loudly in pain as he was still semi-pinned under the fallen table. Watching Jin crouch down again, he reached into the inner coat of the individual. Retrieving a similar handgun, he slid it on the ground away from them.
"...again sir...interrogation...or dirt nap...choose," he stated clearly.
Hearing rapid fast footsteps coming from the doorway, he kept the gun pointed at the man'. Pivoting around to see the door, he kept the firearm trained at the agent's head. Seeing it swing open, it was Samantha with a look of anxiety and fear. It rapidly changed to bewilderment from what she was seeing. Eventually, Alex, Tiffany, and Gene came to the doorway and took on similar expressions.
"...yes...I'm relatively fine...the situation is under control...okay...thanks," Dr. McCole spoke into the phone. Ending the call, he hanged it back in the wall cradle. Rubbing his face with one hand, he turned around and looked at who came in. Seeing that it was the families again, he put both hands in his pockets.
"Security personnel will be here shortly as well as medics for the wounded," he mentioned then walked over to where Jin was. Seeing him still holding the gun while another was on the floor, he walked next to him and crouched down as well.
"...doc...you better...detain...your psycho...patient," the agent stated sounding in pain.
"Actually...I am rather interested in this...interview being conducted...care to answer a couple of questions?"
"Aiding...a criminal...is a high offense."
"Imitating a special agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigations is pretty high offense too," he countered which made the group that came in blink in surprise. "There is also the act of self-defense in regards to you and your two partners pulling out firearms in a hospital."
"We are from the-" the man began to say when Jin lifted the handgun and wacked his wounded shoulder with the butt end of the firearm. "GGGAAARRRNNNN!"
"I'm in no hurry to heal or aid you until I am ordered to do so," Dr. McCole mentioned resting his elbows on his knees. "Security personnel is coming...so if you don't want to talk to me...you can talk to them...or the police...or an actual federal agent if that is what you three want."
"...this...this is assault!" the agent shouted out loud.
"Interrogating with intent to torture is an assault as well."
"..." the man responded with remaining silent.
Glancing at the teen, he felt the back of his neck hairs rise a little. The sophomore never broke his gaze at him with the muzzle still pointed at his head. Opening his mouth to say something, he froze from getting the pistol put in his mouth. Angling it to be poking the left cheek wall, Jin's icy gaze never faltered. Cocking the hammer back, he spoke in a low tone.
"You can still talk...with a hole in your mouth...might make it easier to take in and exhale air."
"...!?" the individual reacted with his eyes widening a little and his face tensing up. Seeing someone approaching them, it was the eldest Felmort daughter. Crouching down on the other side of him, she looked down with her own icy eyes and a cruel smile.
"Did you know mortal," she began and reached for his bleeding shoulder. Finding the bullet hole wound, she pushing her pointer finger in and dug.
"Each individual has a pain threshold...once it is reached...non-masochists tend to become feeble...and more cooperative."
"...nnnnaaahhh!...aaaaahhhhh!" the agent groaned and winced in anguish. Unable to close his mouth with a pistol in it, he felt the teen's finger continue to dig further.
