Drama for Thanksgiving Dinner*

"She's getting so big," Marty said as she watched little Megan crawling around the living room via video chat. "I don't want to go, but Todd will be here soon," Marty informed Nora.

"Then don't go. I don't see why you would spend Thanksgiving with that man after what he did to you."

"It's Todd's first Thanksgiving dinner with his new family and he's nervous. I already know Vicki and Jessica so Todd thought that it would help to have me there as well," Marty explained.

"Perhaps it will, but why is that your problem? You should be focusing on recovering not on helping Todd with his family drama."

"Todd's been helping me recover, it's hard for me to explain, but he has," Marty said as their was a knock on her door.

"That's Todd, I got to go," Marty said.

"Just be careful Marty," Nora warned and then disconnected the video call.

"Thanks so much for coming with me Marty," Todd said as he knocked on Vicki's door.

"You're welcome...I just hope that I'm not making a mistake," Marty stated.

"What do you mean?" Todd asked as the door opened.

"Marty, Todd, come on in," Vicki stated as she opened the door up for them.

"What's she doing here?" Tina asked as she rolled her eyes.

"I invited her," Todd and Vicki said at the same time.

"Well, she should have gone to her own family's thanksgiving dinner instead of crashing our's," Tina said as she got up off the couch and stormed out of the room.

"What's that about?" Marty asked.

"Tina's just mad at me because I told her that she couldn't have half my inheritance," Todd explained.

"Mom, have you seen this?" Kevin asked as he ran down the stairs.

"What?" Vicki asked.

"Powell confessed to killing Zach Rosen. He's going to be sentenced tomorrow," Kevin explained.

"What?" Marty gasped.

"Are you feeling okay Marty, you're as white as a ghost," Vicki stated.

"Todd, I need to speak to you outside now," Marty stated.

"We'll be right back," Todd said and than followed Marty outside.

"Did you have anything to do with Powell confessing?" Marty asked.

"He confessed because he owes you Marty. It was the right thing to do," Todd stated.

"It's not the right thing, he didn't do anything wrong."

"We both know that's not true. Zach, Powell and I raped you Marty. He owes you and so do I, so just let him make amends," Todd stated.

"Dinner's ready," Tina stated.

"How long have you been there?" Todd asked as he glared at his sister.

"Long enough...that the food is probably cold," Tina said and than headed back in the house.

"I think that it would be nice if we all said what we were thankful for before we eat," Vicki stated. "I am grateful for my family both old and new. I am also thankful for my good friend Marty and that she can be here to celebrate our first Thanksgiving with my new brother," Vicki stated.

"I am thankful that my brother was generous enough to share what should have been our inheritance with me...oh, that's right he didn't." Tina snapped.

"Tina, will you stop going on and on about the money? I shared with you, it's not Todd's fault or mine that you squandered the money away with David Vicker's," Vicki stated.

"But Vicki..."

"Stop it, you're being rude to our guests," Vicki stated. "Todd, what are you thankful for?" Vicki asked.

"Second chances with the family that I didn't know that I had. I'm also grateful for you Marty...thank you for being here with me and my family today," Todd stated.

"What about you Marty? Are you grateful to be spending Thanksgiving with your rapist and his family?" Tina asked.

"What?" Marty whispered.

"I overheard you. Todd was going on and on about how he and Powell have to make amends for raping you. Why are you here with him? Don't tell me that you're attracted to your own rapist," Tina taunted.

Marty got up from the table and ran out of the room.

"Thanks for everything Vicki. Go to hell Tina," Todd stated.

"It's not my fault that you're just like our father. The apple didn't fall far from the tree on that one," Tina called out as Todd left the room.

"I'm sorry about Tina," Todd said as he caught up with Marty.

"Why? She didn't say anything that wasn't true. It's always going to be there, isn't it?"

What is?" Todd asked.

"Our past...no matter how much either one of us try's to forget, it's always there. We'll never be able to escape from it," Marty said.

"I can give you a ride home if you want Marty," Kevin said as he went outside.

"That would be great Kevin, thank you," Marty said.

"I was going to give you a ride home," Todd stated.

"I'd rather it be Kevin...I just...I need some space from you ... from our past right now," Marty whispered.
