So I have to say that the previous chapter was not as it seems that this chapter will get into. It will also change how Midi Chlorians are viewed as their origin was to be like mitochondria. This version and I think a more realistic version as I can not see up to forty thousand midi Chlorians existing in each cell of our bodies. What I do know is that there are millions of DNA building blocks in each cell. Much harder to test for thousands of markers mixed in with the several billion DNA building blocks than something so simple as midi chlorians unless you know exactly what to look for. Also how it could be applied to other species as humanoid DNA is not the only type around. It is also why there was a Force Sensitive Family Tree Holocron. Why have a list of suspected Force sensitive families if you could just run a test for them. Cad Bane would not of had to steal the holocron nor would have Cal Kestis needed to protect it if you can just test for it.
Master Yoda opened his eyes as something felt very off. He had planned to visit Jenica Lour and the Ebon Hawk as he had come across the name from time to time in his studies. As he got near the ship he felt he was not wanted. The that Force was even telling him to stay away, but even as he listened he was a bit too stubborn at times. He had a time or two meddled in affairs that the Force had warned him against and most times it worked itself out and only a rare few he had regretted. Working his way closer just enough to see the entrance he sat down to meditate. He wanted more than a blank warning to stay away from the Force.
He had probed the girl several times over the last few days. She was young and her outward actions were well balance like many of the young nearly senior padawans. She held this stance that told him much of her back ground one he imagined had been difficult and then solitary as she would shift a bit farther away from people if they got too close. Though she had no problem getting too close herself as he felt her being curious or mischievous. She was at this phase of her life where her maturity was conflicting with her need to play. Play that she had never been able to experience before now.
Her emotions were controlled and measured most of the time, but she felt them unlike most Jedi who would give them to the Force after realizing they were feeling them. She fully experienced them, let them roll around her mind, before muting them, but not fully releasing them to the Force. Her shields were stronger then most of the other masters and when she vanished he had only felt her fleetingly as she was very near. Near enough to touch and for Yoda that was very close. An assassin she could be with such skill. Yet, she did not project the aura of a hunter.
He had observed her during the investigation of the ship and he was still waiting for her to retell her version of the battle and the last few weeks. Qui Gon Jinn was impressed with her, but felt she was dangerous and he constantly talked about the boy even mentioning that he could be a vergence in the Force. The boy was strong, very strong and quick to learn as he had observed their open training.
Kit was very impressed with her and her level of skill in healing. He remarked she was clearly much stronger in the Force then many. Her techniques had allowed them to relieve the suffering of many. The boy he had less to say about other than he was a natural at healing. Most of his time he spent with the Gungans and not that much around the boy except during the times in the field hospital.
Obi Wan was much different in his view of her and the boy. He started out seeing her as a threat to then knowing she had saved his master from sure death. That he taught him something of the Force and healing had changed his mind that she was more rooted in the Living Force then even Qui Gon himself. He had more time with the boy as he had visited him with his mother and found him head first and ankle deep in several of the fighters. Plus he had noticed a bond with him was developing that he did not understand. This was one of the worries that Yoda was feeling. He could see the beginnings of a training bond between the two, but it was more than that. Different in function if it was allowed to grow.
Master Yoda had also felt the bond the girl had created with the boy and his mother. If felt different not unlike a training bond but more so one of a rare variety. One that felt of family or friendship, attachments that would interfere with their ability to remain focused and calm if anything dangerous affected them. Then he had felt she had left a tendril attached to Qui Gon and Obi Wan. Neither of them had noticed that they had rejected such a bond, but that it was more of one was only needed for a short time. Yoda was still investigating what it was that she and they had shared for it to not leave some type of bond active. Their new found ability to heal was impressive and it was something they were going to do once they arrived back at the Temple. It was why they had returned much sooner.
Master Yoda pushed even further into the Force to see why it was pushing him away from seeing the girl. The Force whirled around and suddenly came into focus. He recognized it as a vision as he saw himself walking up to the ship and inside. Odd to see himself from another angle, but also disturbing. Slowly he witnessed what would happen and the conversation surprised him. It was only at the end that the Force revealed what he felt was a falsehood. However, it struck him to the core he knew that this could very well come to pass. Though he was sure he never used a cute effect to get his way he did realize that he would force his view and way on the girl. That she resisted showed a possible hidden strength. No, this was not the time to confront the girl.
Master Yoda got up and walked out of the hanger at the same time the hatch of the ship opened. Jenica stepped out as if expecting someone and then looked around in confusion. She was sure that she had felt the one called Master Yoda outside of the ship. I did not want this Jedi anywhere near my holocrons, but at the same time I felt that I needed to show them. I looked around noting that there was no other Jedi near not even the small one she had felt not a moment ago.
Obi Wan was tired. He felt good but he had no time to rest since they returned to the Temple. They had landed and gone straight to the healers ward and Bant had insisted on a full physical before either of them could say another word or even see Master Vokara Che. It was not until she had found nothing wrong with either of them that Master Che walked in to stop her. From there they both listened as they recounted healing dozens of the injured. Vokara asked for a demonstration on a broken ankle and they taught not just Master Che and Knight Bant, but the injured initiate as well. Sixteen hours later they had taught dozens the technique to fast healing. They had cleared out the entire healer's ward of patients and visited many others on quarters restriction or light activity to finish their healing as well.
He was nearly sleep walking as he filled his tray with random food before shuffling to the nearest table. He brought the mystery food to his mouth and just noticed it was Bantha stew as Bant landed in the seat next to him. He could feel that she was in a good mood even more so as she was excited.
"Don't start." Obi Wan warned her but knew it was a useless gesture.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Obi Wan would have sighed had he the energy. He just pointed at her with his fork.
"You all full of energy, excited even and I know you did just as much healing as I did."
"I did, but Master Qui Gon taught me introspection. Do you not know how to do it?" Obi Wan frowned as she revealed this. Another thing she was so easy at learning to do. It took him a bit to learn how Jenica healed, but he felt the need to learn it with so many wounded. Now Introspection was different and he had a hard time getting to the right point to feel it working.
"I know, but I just can't just use it. I need to meditate for awhile and I am so tired I will probably fall asleep first."
"Oh right, is this because you are more connected to the Unifying Force?" Obi Wan ate a few bites as he thought about it. The food was helping as he ate, but it could not be that simple the reason he found it hard to start. Though he had never let it go longer than thirty seconds either. Should he do it longer was that something that would help him learn how to just fall into it or increase his energy? He put another forkful in his mouth as he thought more on the idea. It was worth a try and then he heard several surprised gasps around him.
"Obi Wan you are glowing gold!" Bant's word ended whatever he was doing and he began to blush as he saw nearly the entire room staring at him. Then everyone burst back into their conversations that were more likely to be directed in what he had just done.
"Sorry I was just thinking and it happened." He went to scoop up another bite, but frown as his plate was empty.
"You finished it while you were glowing. It was as if you were in some form of a meditative trance." It was not the first time he had eaten and not realized he had until he finished. Feeling full was somewhat new in this regard. His time to ponder was over as several other knights joined their table and he was bombarded in questions that he suddenly had the energy to answer.
Master Jinn looked at the print out that Vokara Che had just handed to him. He could not believe the chart at all. He then looked at the other test that was performed and marveled at how strong the Sith had been. The third record was from the girl and he did feel guilty on how he got her genetic material, but it proved several things. However, it raised dozens of questions.
"Their M counts are unusual are they not?"
"Not unusual but different. The Sith identified as Maul has many different M count markers that link him to the family lines of Dathomir not Irdonian as suspected by his smaller horns. Most Dathomir males have longer horns and a more defined cranial crown. This tells us that he is more of a direct descendant of Allya, a Jedi knight who was exiled from the Jedi Order." Master Che explained. "Her records showed that she was strong in the Force, but her lack of control with her emotions lead her to being exiled."
"Okay then what of the girl. Jenica Lour?"
"She has dozens of family lines that I could link to several different near human genetic lines. It took some time for the system to map her full genetic code as much of it is unique. This then changed as the system gained enough markers to link her with genetic samples of Korriban natives and the grave remains of the Massassi of Yavin IV. She is from Dromund Kaas and surprisingly more Korriban native than base human." This verification was more shocking then the girl claiming to being Sith herself. Though she was a true Sith genetically even as she sang in the light.
"I read the Sith are extinct as a species."
"Apparently not Qui Gon, but she is only partially red Sith and would have never been consider a pure blood even with her red skin tone which I can link more to Zeltron then red Sith." This made Jinn wonder if this had an effect on her strength or not? Did it allow her to use the dark side without as heavy a toll as a fallen Jedi? She seemed unaffected by her use of a localized Force Storm.
"So what of the boy?"
"The samples link him directly to his mother, but his father's genetic code is only a portion of the human species. I could find no other marker than those from his mother that linked him to any other near human subspecies. It is as if he is half Zhell added to the mix his mother gave him. His mitochondria match his mother, but his Y chromosomes has none of the extra markers that you might have. His Y gene count is only at fifty million compared to yours at sixty five million."
"That is awfully specific." Jinn noted then Che laughed while tapping on her datapad and then showing him his genetic chart.
"I used your as a base line and Master Yoda's as well as his M count is the highest comparison to other Force sensitives. He has nearly nineteen thousand matching gene pairs compared to all known Jedi. Your M count is at eleven thousand matching pairs while Obi Wan is at nearly fourteen thousand."
"I know this, but having such counts does not make one a Jedi." Master Che swipes the screen several times landing on Jenica Lour's chart.
"She has an M count six thousand nine hundred compared to all known Jedi." Qui Gon loudly gasped as he pulled the tablet to him as he interrupted her.
"No way she can have so few markers. She is too strong and nearly all self taught. She had no master to give her the boost to learn certain abilities." She took the tablet back with just as much force and put it out of reach.
"Those are my records and something you do not have clearance for and I was not finished."
"You're right I apologize. Please go on."
"She however, has nearly seven thousand M count markers from known Sith lines. This makes her just as strong as Knight Kenobi."
"How unusual?"
"Oh I see her count as being normal enough given that our records of the Sith are not as thorough as the Jedi Order, but within the norms for the Galaxy. Now Maul is unusual as his M count was in the range of ten thousand, but some of his cells show a different genetic chart in the range of fourteen thousand." Qui Gon looked blankly at her showing no sign of understanding.
"He should have been a twin. A rare condition, but not unheard of. At one point during his development the cells did not split from each other to form another embryo, so what was developed was utilized as part of his own body. Those cells split and grew as if they were his own." Master Che then swiped her screen and then shown Anakin's genetic chart next to his mother's chart. The smile she was holding back reflected only a portion of the excitement she was leaking into the Force.
"I did not know that, but by how you feel in the Force Anakin's chart is special?"
"I have never seen so many matching gene markers in any Jedi. Anakin could possibly contain every genetic marker that is linked to being Force sensitive. While his mother has a count of five thousand. He has a count closer to forty thousand if the archives' estimates are accurate. If not he has twenty seven thousand matching genetic markers."
"Are you implying what I think you are?" Jinn could feel the blood draining from his face as he drew on the Force to not pass out as his mind raced with dozen of thoughts.
"He is for a better term the embodiment of every Force user ever recorded genetically speaking." This did not placate his thoughts and only got him to focus more on the only likely conclusion.
"He is a vergence in the Force, the Chosen One." Qui Gon whispered out loud as if he had not meant to speak. Vokara Che suddenly laughed breaking Qui Gon's train of thought. He almost felt insulted by how loudly she laughed. She suddenly stopped as she felt him release a bit of anger into the surrounding Force.
"Come Qui Gon you can't be believing those ancient prophecies can you?"
"I do and I do not know why, but from all my Force studies and after studying at the Temple of the Whills I do not think I can ignore such obvious signs." Vokara shook her head knowing she could not change his mind but she had to try.
"Qui Gon the boy has so many markers and that I have my doubts that there that many directly linked to the Force. Even after thousands and thousands of years not every genetic pair has been labeled to a function of our bodies. Even cloners have been on record saying that they can not even produce a perfect clone of another. What I do know is that Anakin's father was seriously strong in the Force."
"If he had a father at all." Vokara sighed knowing she did not even crack his belief.
"He has a father and I would believe time travel over him being the Chosen One. The Sith died out thousands of years ago and the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness died on Ruusan like all the Army of Light Jedi did."
"Then explain to me how the Force is so out of balance? How we can not even heal like the Jedi of old?"
"Master Jinn did you not bring back the healing techniques that Jenica Lour taught you? Lost techniques that our ancestors practiced?"
"That is nowhere near to their abilities. How they could use the Force to fight for days on end without food or water. Just the Force to endure." Master Che shook her head as he was so far into the legends that he could not see them as the embellishments of the authors.
"There have been many explanations over the centuries and the most prevalent is that they were stronger than us. They did not lose all the abilities that we have as they did not go through several thousand years worth of war. The last is that the authors of their exploits were using embellishments to describe their experiences which is countered by the holocrons we do have." Qui Gon laughed as this was the excuse used by many, but he had access to many of those holocrons and more as Master Dooku was his master and he was close to Jocasta Nu. They had both viewed much older and ancient holocrons.
"I can not convince you as you can not convince me if either one of us are right, but my knowledge of the holocrons is extensive and at the level of the High Council's access."
"Access is not the same as being taught."
"Perhaps Vokara that is true, but they might not have taught me these lost techniques but they were more than willing to tell of the effects of their use. Many were linked to certain nonhuman races that could not be learned by a human. I can also see that all the wars we have been a part of and even the cause of and the strongest of us dying off limiting not only our knowledge but our abilities."
"So you do understand. Then why believe in this Chosen One?"
"I believe because I have had a repetitive vision from the time I was a youngling that I was going to train a Jedi that was going to change the Jedi Order forever and no other prophecy matches this vision."
"A vision?" If Qui Gon was going to train this boy then such a potentially strong Force sensitive once trained could change the Order for good, but they could also destroy it.
The healing techniques that Qui Gon brought back to the Temple spread out from the healing wards to the various masters. Introspection went hand in hand with the healing technique and some how Obi Wan was visited by many of the consulars as his method of standing meditation worked similar to the kneeling meditation that was introspection. Some could do both and most of those were sentinels or Temple Guardians. It was not for a few days before someone made the correlation to the type of Khyber crystal someone favored.
The Council of First Knowledge delved into the Great Holocron and found the same techniques had been banned from being taught as it fed a person's vanity. Not the healing portion but the underlying connection to introspection and standing meditation that was needed to recharge oneself to heal someone. That there was an effect that could be abused to live for as long as possible as using the technique while meditating for long periods of time could stop the aging process even reverse it to some degree. Not every Jedi learned the technique could maintain it longer than part of a minute. However, ones strong in the Force like Obi Wan or healers like Bant have shown they could continually go in and out of this meditation at will.
As soon as the High Council returned in full Jocasta Nu was dead set on making sure no one else would be trained. She even put out several memos reminding all the masters, creche masters, and knights with padawans that this was prohibited technique. This she determined after she had taught Yan Dooku of the skill. Yet, as she stood in front of her old mirror fixing her hair she found herself failing to not use the ability as she saw the fleeting golden effect fading from her skin as she broke herself out of it. The increased vigor and painlessness was instantly noticeable from her normal. Perhaps she could use it just enough to relieve herself of her aging pains and no more.
Shaak Ti was of the other persuasion as she fell into introspective mediation during the times she normally meditated. It gave her increased focus and energized her before her training bouts. She felt faster, stronger, and her stamina grew to twice her normal limits if she pushed herself. Those partners that had not yet learned the techniques were easy to out last or to defeat with a quickness that many a master found hard to counter. Cin Drallig became a beast in the master training salle. Taking on any one to one or one to many depending on the style he was focusing on.
It was the unrestricted teaching that worked its way into the junior padawan ranks and into the senior initiate creches before the memos were put out that made the effort useless as the younglings were that much faster in learning the techniques. Their increased energy and resilience was shown as a game of mass push feather turned into a form of Force tag drawing in nearly two hundred initiates and padawans and even a few of the younger knights. Many of the Force null workers in the Temple stood in frozen fascination as these Jedi were either a blur of movement or were visibly glowing when still. Yet this was still several weeks to come.
