The next day, Rowan headed to the Bennett's to help Sheila explain things to Bonnie. The Gilbert-witch decided to also tell Elena and Caroline soon after but first, she wanted to tell her sister and brother of their adoptions. So Rowan arrived close to noon, at the Bennett house. When she rang the door, Bonnie greeted her with a worried expression. "Hey Bunny, how you doing?" Asked Rowan.
"I don't know what's happening to me," admitted the younger with a crack in her voice. Rowan hugged Bonnie tightly and they headed inside. Sheila sat waiting in the living room. "So, grams says you'll help explain."
"Please take a seat, Bonnie, this will sound crazy and terrifying," said the reborn witch. So Bonnie sat down and stared at them in anticipation.
"Our family is very old Bonnie. We have ancestors dating back centuries ago and with these ancestors came history and certain gifts," started Sheila. She waved her hand over a candle and lit it up. Bonnie gasped but didn't react too much. Her brain still relied on fact and logic and it was telling her this cannot be magic. "Our ancestors belonged to the Salem witches," continued Sheila and she recounted the SW history to her granddaughter.
Bonnie was clearly fascinated by the history but she was apprehensive to believe in magic. "The Bennett line is one of the strongest witch lines," ended Sheila.
"Grams, this is insane, how is it possible," argued the youngest witch.
"It is Bunny, you're as much of a witch as Sheila and I are," said Rowan, grabbing the younger's attention.
"You're a witch too?" Asked Bonnie. Rowan decided on a stronger display to her sister's friend. She used her telepathic powers to lift a book in front of Bonnie, then she burnt it. The youngest gasped as the flames engulfed the book. It fell to the table in ashes. But then, Rowan performed another spell, and the pieces mended together and got clean. The book was slowly getting rebuilt and it was as if the flames never touched it. "Oh my god!" Exclaimed Bonnie.
She got up and paced the room for a few moments, then began her fire of questioning. She had many questions about magic and the supernatural. Rowan and Sheila calmly explained the existence of each species and its abilities. "You see vampires are very similar to old mythology books. They burn in the sun and are allergic, not to garlic, but this," said Rowan and pulled out a vervain plant.
"What is it?" Asked Bonnie in curiosity.
"It's called vervain. Vampires burn when they touch it as if having an allergic reaction. Also, as long as people drink it or have it on them, vampires cannot perform one of their scarier abilities. Compulsion," responded Rowan. She went on to explain what compulsion is and who can be compelled. How witches and other supernatural beings are immune but humans are not.
When the Gilbert-witch mentioned sending death on vampires, Bonnie drew her conclusions on Stefan. "You knew?" Asked the youngest Bennett.
"I did, but I made sure he was in control before letting him near you. Damon on the other hand..." paused Rowan, giving a shake of her head.
"That's why you freaked when Caroline invited him to your house! You also didn't want her inviting him in," said Bonnie. "But why wouldn't you tell the Council?" Sheila and Rowan exchanged looks.
"There is an agreement between the Bennetts and Salavatores, we are not to harm them. As they protected our ancestor from getting burned, by the Council," said Sheila. Bonnie's eyes widened at that but she sighed in resignation, understanding the deal. The older women continued to tell Bonnie about other supernatural.
"Werewolves are a little trickier to spot," said Sheila. "They only turn once a month and can only trigger their curse if they kill someone. Whether accidentally or on purpose."
"Their bite is also deadly to vampires," added Rowan.
"Wow this is a lot of information," said Bonnie.
"We know but you need to learn. We'll start your lesson the next weekend and you'll join us every full moon to charge a moonstone," informed Sheila.
"What's a moonstone?" Asked The youngest Bennett. That sparked a new conversation on stones and herbs for spells. By the end of the conversation, it was already time for dinner. The woman had had lunch while talking and now dinner was joined by Elena and Caroline. Bonnie had been warned not to speak about her powers yet. That Rowan wished to be the one to inform Elena about the supernatural. The young Bennett wasn't keen on keeping secrets from her best friends but understood Rowan's perspective.
The following morning was a Monday and Rowan had talked with Jenna about her plan to tell Elena and Jeremy about the adoptions. Jenna was hesitant but agreed that it was best to get it over with than wait for too long and have bigger grudges against them. They weren't going to tell the teens that day but soon.
Instead, Rowan focused on Damon's actions. Yesterday there were no dead bodies but she knew that the Salvatore won't be calm for long. She had spoken to Stefan and the Ripper was keeping an eye out too. However, Damon seemed to have disappeared, as he never showed up at the House after killing Tanner. Speaking of which, the spot for the History teacher was still empty, with no applicants.

Sooner than anticipated, Friday came and Damon still hadn't shown anything. By then Rowan had changed her mindset on the execution of her plan. She decided, along with Jenna, that telling Jeremy and Elena can wait after they make sure, Damon won't hurt anybody. Instead, the witch would inform the girls of the supernatural. And what better time, than when she and Sheila will be training Bonnie for the first time?
Bonnie invited the girls over, at the pretence of having a sleepover. Rowan was also invited. Caroline and Elena were none the wiser about what awaits them for the night and Rowan didn't want to jump in straight away. Instead, the four girls took their time, having fun. They watched movies, played a few games and told some stories. While the girls exchanged 'juicy' stories, Sheila came into the room. "May I join you?" She asked and the girls didn't mind. "I wish to tell you a story, I told Bonnie a few days back," she said.
Elena and Caroline were excited, it had been a while since they got fun storytimes from Sheila. The witch recounted the history of the Bennett's as she did with Bonnie. The girls were fascinated but similar to their friend, didn't believe anything said. That was until Bonnie herself got involved. "In 1864, our ancestor Emily came to this town as a servant. And our family lived here ever since," said the young witch. "Her gifts were passed down the generations, to the women of the family. Until it reached grams and me." She lit a candle in front of the girls and they gasped in awe.
"Wait...this isn't a trick. You're not lying or telling a fantasy are you?" Asked Caroline with wide eyes. Elena caught on to what the blonde was saying and also realised that it wasn't possible to just light a candle randomly. Besides, Rowan and Sheila, both had stoic faces. "It's all true, isn't it? You're actually a witch! Like actual magic Hermione!" Exclaimed the blonde as she stood up abruptly.
"Yes," responded Bonnie, with hopeful eyes.
"Oh Bonnie, I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to tell us," said Elena and went to hug her friend. Rowan sighed in relief with the other witches at the acceptance they received.
"So wait, what else can you do?" Asked Caroline excitedly.
"Well, I'm still new. So I need to train before I can do cool stuff," replied Bonnie. "Grams and Rowan will be teaching me." The girls stared at Rowan in shock.
"Row?" Asked Elena with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. You were young and our parents wanted to wait until you turned 18," said Rowan.
"Why now then?" Asked Elena.
"Well Bonnie wanted to reveal herself and you have seen the news. It's dangerous out there, so both of you should know the extent of that danger," explained the older Gilberts. The women did the same with Bonnie, explaining all the supernaturals. When Elena and Caroline realised what Stefan and Damon are, they freaked out.
"So Stefan is a vampire?!" Said a breathless Elena with panic.
"Oh my god! That's why you got so mad at me for Damon!" Said Caroline, also in a panic.
"Okay, calm down. Stefan isn't a bad person," defended Rowan. "Do you really think I'd let him near you if I hadn't checked he's safe?" Inquired the witch, with a 'isn't it obvious?' tone. Elena paused for a moment she thought of what her sister said and realised that Rowan was very overprotective of her and Jeremy. There was no way Rowan was letting anyone hurt them.
"Yeah I guess but...I don't know it just feels...I don't even know how to react," explained Elena.
"You don't have to. Take your time, tell him you need space to decide whether you accept him or not. And even if you accepted him, doesn't mean you have to be in a relationship with him or even friends," said Rowan. She held her sister close to comfort her. Elena gave her a small smile in gratitude. Rowan would never force Elena into anything she doesn't want and the younger was grateful for having such an older sister. The sisters hugged, as did Bonnie and Caroline. "It's gonna be okay," comforted Rowan.
The next day the girls woke up a little groggily, from all the information dumped on them the previous night. Caroline and Elena, accompanied the witches to the SWH, to watch Bonnie's first lesson. They cringed at the abandoned house but realised that Rowan and Sheila weren't fazed by it and entered. "Oh wow," exclaimed Bonnie. The energy from the witches flowed in her and she felt welcomed and at home. "This is incredible!"
"What's going on?" Asked Caroline in confusion.
"Witches can sense each other. Even when dead. They're family and they're welcoming her," explained Rowan quietly.
"Welcome to our ancestors' home Bonnie. Here," said Sheila as she handed her granddaughter a Grimoire and moonstone. "This shall be your personal Grimoire, to create your own spells. And this is your moonstone. An idea made by Rowan" explained the older woman.
"What is the moonstone for?" Asked Bonnie.
"Witches can harness the power from Nature and one of the biggest sources is a full moon. You can use the stone to harness that power and store it for later use," explained Rowan, proudly. Bonnie admired her necklace and they started the first lesson. They began easily on her, by allowing her to try and channel energy from Nature's elements. Fire, from a burning candle. Water, from a bowl. Air, from a balloon. Earth, from a plant. After half an hour, Bonnie was able to control the candle's fire. Letting it burn high and low.
Then she was able to make the plant blossom and the water turn to ice and boil. Finally, she could, telepathically, control the balloon. She flew it around the house and the girls clapped in excitement. "That's amazing!" Said Caroline.
"In no time, you'll be able to lift heavy objects and perform spells," said Rowan.
"I'm proud of you Bonnie. You'll be the most talented witch in our family yet. I'm sure of it," said Sheila with tears in her eyes.
"Thank you grams," responded the younger Bennett and she hugged her grandma. "I forgot to ask, does dad know?"
"Yes he does, he will be very proud to hear that his little girl is all grown up," said Sheila with a smile.

When the lesson was finished, the girls went to the Grill. Elena excused herself and called Stefan. They had a long conversation, once the Salvatore arrived at the Grill. Elena told him she knew and how she felt the need for a little space. Stefan was a little hurt but understood and promised to maintain boundaries until she was ready with an answer. Rowan felt bad for him but it was better for them to struggle now, rather than later.
Other than Stelena'a breakup, everything seemed to go according to the original timeline. On the 22nd, a few days later, a mountain lion was found in the woods. Meaning Damon was covering his tracks. Stefan contacted the witch to tell her, his brother was back but was trying to make a truce with Stefan. Rowan warned the younger Salvatore to still keep his guard up and Stefan agreed.
Two days later, the Founder's Ball, was held at the Lockwood Manor. This time, Elena brought Bonnie with her and Caroline brought Stefan. The blonde didn't want to come along and she was trying to convince Elena, to get back with Stefan. Rowan had to applaud Caroline; she had a crush on Stefan and yet she still wanted the best for Elena. The doppelgänger remained a little stubborn and uncomfortable so she tried to avoid the duo.
Meanwhile, Damon had shown up, with none other than, Meredith Fell. Rowan's eyes bulged at the scene. Meredith was not only a smart woman but a very careful one. She drank vervain like it was water. The witch kept an eye on the couple, to make sure that Meredith wasn't hurt. What caught the witch's eye was the woman's scarf. She took her chance when Meredith entered the bathroom.
After the two used the facilities and were washing their hands, Rowan asked, "Hey, nice scarf Meredith, can take a closer look?"
"Sure," replied the Doctor and handed the scarf to the younger. Rowan smiled widely as the sense of relief washed over her. They didn't converse for long before heading back to the party. Rowan rejoined Jenna and they chatted about random things, until Logan Fell, decided to approach the aunt.
"Jenna you look nice," he greeted with a cocky attitude.
"Logan," said Jenna with gritted teeth.
"Logan Fell?" Asked Rowan.
"Yeah. You grew up Rowan," he said.
"And I see you haven't, still the disappointment I remember," mocked Rowan with a sarcastic grin. The man choked on his drink and the witch got closer to him.
"You should watch your mouth little lady," he growled.
"At least I didn't depend on my daddy's money to get into college," whispered the witch into his ears with a chuckle. His eyes widened and he back away with a furious expression.
"You know Jenna, you need to keep her in check," said the man.
"If you want the watch, tell the Mayor, he can ask me for it, instead of relying on a failure like you," said Rowan with a stoic expression. The Mayor had never respected her. He knew that she had knowledge of the supernatural and yet he never once bothered to consult her. Using Logan to get a hold of a family heirloom was the last straw in the witch's patience. She was going to make Mayor Lockwood regret disrespecting her and her family.
In the meantime, she was going to watch Damon. He was meant to get the Crystal today but sadly for him, Rowan still had it on her floorboard. She watched carefully as the vampire slipped from the crowd. She only had to wait for a few minutes before he stormed back into the party. His face showed how furious she was. His eyes roamed the place she could spot the murderous intent in them. He was struggling to be in control.
The witch signalled for Stefan using her magic to give him a small aneurysm. He turned towards her in question, from the pain in his head. The witch pointed toward his brother who walked around the place like a lost, serial killer. Stefan understood and nodded. Rowan took that as her queue and approached the older Salvatore. "Damon, what's going on? If you can't control yourself, you need to leave," she whispered to him.
"You did this, didn't you?! You took it!" He growled at her.
"First of all, I have no idea what you're talking about, second, we need to get you out of here," she hissed and grabbed his arm. The vampire scrunched his face in anger but didn't argue and followed Rowan to the back garden. "What is wrong with you?" She asked as she let him go.
"Where is it?" He asked.
"Where is what? I can't exactly point you in the right direction if you don't tell me!" Argued the witch. She prepared herself for him to attack, ready to send him flying away or give him pain.
"The crystal! Where is it?!" He growled at her impatiently.
"Oh, that! That's with Sheila, it belongs to her family," said Rowan. She was lying but she did plan on handing the crystal to the woman, for the plan.
"I need it!" Demanded Damon. "Do you even realise what you've done!" He yelled. Rowan backed away a little.
"No. Tell me what I've done," she said stoically and folded her arms defiantly.
"You ruined everything, that's what you did," he hissed and jumped at her. Luckily she was prepared and gave him aneurysm after aneurysm. He clutched his head in pain and fell to his knees.
"Stefan, now," announced the witch. The younger Salvatore appeared out of the bushes and snapped Damon's neck. The witch relaxed when she saw his body collapse.
"What the hell did he mean?" Asked Stefan with a frown.
"We'll get him to talk," said the witch calmly. They were suddenly joined by the three girls, who stared at Damon's body in shock.
"Is he dead?" Asked Caroline.
"Not exactly," replied Rowan. "Stefan will take him to the Boarding House and we'll deal with him."
"Do you need help?" Asked Bonnie.
"No, let's go back to the party," said the older. "Stefan will take care of his brother." The girls listened to Rowan and went back inside, while Stefan took Damon home.

For the next few days, Rowan and Stefan kept Damon in the cellar with no blood. They were trying to starve him a little so that he becomes desperate to leave. The witch didn't like torture but she felt that he wouldn't have said anything otherwise. Meanwhile, she had given the Crystal to Sheila but was insistent in her warning that neither Bennett, should wear it. That even if it belonged to Emily, the magic inside was unstable. Sheila trusted Rowan and heeded her warning. She kept the crystal hidden in her own floorboard.
During the Sexy Suds party, Elena finally stopped avoiding Stefan. They spent the day together, talking about his life. He explained most things, from Katherine turning him to his Ripper faze and Lexi. He went on to talk about the car accident and how he saw her. He had even mentioned that Katherine and she were carbon copies of each other, which upset Elena a little but she got over it quickly. Another thing he did mentioned, was Rowan's involvement with him, during the summer. How she helped him gain control.
Elena wasn't thrilled with her sister keeping secrets but forgave her. They were small and Rowan always protected her siblings. The younger Gilbert girl decided to give Stefan a chance after their day of talking. However, she wanted to go slow. Rowan agreed with her decisions and Stefan respected them.
Meanwhile, Caroline was growing fond of Matt. During the Sexy Suds party, they also had their moments. They conversed and Matt was growing to enjoy Caroline's company. He was still jealous of Stelena but decided to let Elena go for now. He just couldn't seem to compete with Stefan. Rowan wanted to reassure the teen, that it wasn't his fault but it was exactly wise to mention a Love Spell, to him.
Rowan had spent her day with Jenna, as they planned on how to approach the adoption reveal. The witch was adamant they do it next month. While Jenna struggled to understand why the rush. She understood the need to inform Elena of the supernatural, but adoption? It had only been a few months since her parents were lost. Rowan agreed that the time was far from ideal but insisted nonetheless. Finally, Jenna agreed to tell the children in a few weeks. She just needed to prepare herself mentally first.
Unlike in the Original timeline, Damon hadn't escaped and Zach remained alive. Rowan went to the Salvatore house the next day. She and Stefan went to Damon in the cellar. The Ripper had a bottle of blood in his hands and opened the door. Damon lay on the ground with an exhausted expression. "Good morning brother," greeted Stefan. Damon gave a sarcastic chuckle.
"And mornin' to you too," he said hoarsely.
"So, here is some blood. If you're willing to tell us your plan for that crystal," said Stefan and waved the bottle. Damon stared at them in exhaustion and breathed heavily. He was weighing his options carefully and Rowan prepared for an attack. Thankfully it never came.
"Fine...I'll tell you," said the older Salvatore in defeat.
It was now September 30th 2009
