"Fine...I'll tell you," said the older Salvatore in defeat.
Rowan and Stefan stared at the older Salvatore expectedly. He paused for a long moment, still bothered by the idea of revealing his plan. "Tic-toc Damon, tic-toc..." warned the witch.
"It opens a tomb, beneath the church ruins," admitted the raven. Stefan stared in confusion, while Rowan remained stoic.
"What tomb?" asked the witch. Damon groaned as he struggled to stay upright. "Stefan give him a sip," she said and the Ripper poured some blood in a cup and slid it on the floor to Damon. The older Salvatore gulped down the blood. "Well?"
"When Katherine and the vampires realised the town was on to them, they had a backup plan. They dug a tomb beneath the church and asked Emily to place a protection spell on it," the vampire continued to inform them of the details. How the tomb was sealed using the Comet and the Crystal was the key. "Katherine is still there and I'm planning on getting her out!" Stefan dropped the bottle of blood and stared in fear and shock. It was difficult for him to grasp the idea of a living Katherine. Not to mention one that Damon plans to reunite with.
"No! No!" he argued and left the cellar. Rowan sighed and grabbed the bottle. She headed to Damon and handed it to him. He stared at her sceptically.
"If I help you open the tomb, will you leave with her?" she asked. The vampire stared at her in awe.
"You'd help me open it?" he questioned with mistrust.
"If it means you're willing to negotiate a truce and promise to leave this town once you get her...then yeah why not?" said Rowan with a shrug. Damon drank from the bottle slowly; gazing at her in contemplation.
"What are the terms?" He asked with narrow eyes.
"Simple. No more feeding on people, unless willingly offered. And compulsion does not count as an offering," said the witch pointedly. "And you need to stop provoking Stefan."
"Sounds fair, am I allowed blood-bags?"
"Of course," responded the witch.
"So that's settled? You'll help me get Katherine from the tomb?" The man asked in emphasis.
"Yes but just we're clear, you're only allowed, Katherine. I'm burning the rest," she informed him. It was harsh but the best option she had.
"Do as you please, as long as I get her," said the Salvatore.
"Deal," said Rowan and they shook hands. "I forgot to mention that the Crystal is with Sheila, so she has to agree to give it to us," said the witch with a smirk. Damon growled at her, "ah, ah, ah...if you hurt me, you'll never get it," said Rowan confidently and left the cellar.
When she went upstairs, Stefan was sitting in the living room, brooding. "Come on Saint Ripper, it isn't so bad," she commented. He glared at her but didn't dignify her comment with a response.
"Come on brother, I made a truce. I won't feed on humans, for a while..." said Damon with a childish pout and a playful tone.
"He'll behave," said Rowan. "If he doesn't, I'll just reunite him with Katherine a different way," said Rowan with a villainous smile. Damon flinched, getting her hint.
"Do whatever you want, I'm not getting involved with it," announced the Ripper and left them again.
"He's grumpy. Is he drinking enough blood?" Teased Damon.
"He is but you can't blame him, for disliking the idea, of discovering his crazy ex is alive after a century and a half of believing otherwise," said Rowan sarcastically with a bitchy pose.
"Sheesh, so overdramatic!" Said Damon with his usual cocky attitude and Rowan rolled her eyes.

The next day Damon and the Gilbert-witch, paid a visit to Sheila Bennett. The older woman was already informed by her apprentice, of the events that transpired yesterday. She was prepared for the visit but acted surprised. "Mr Salvatore, what brings you to my doorstep?" Asked the older witch.
"You have a pretty Crystal that I need to borrow," responded Damon. Sheila immediately gave him an aneurysm and he fell to the ground.
"Seriously? You too?" He asked in pain.
"Let's be clear, just because Rowan cooperates with you, doesn't mean I will," warned Sheila.
"Alright, alright! Please I need the Crystal!" cried out Damon and Rowan watched with a smirk. Sheila released Damon from the spell and it took a few more minutes of discussion, for her to retrieve the item and lend it to Damon.
"It better be in perfect shape when you return it," warned the older witch. The two departed from the Bennett property and went to the Grill. There, Rowan made it clear, that she will wait until she had enough knowledge on the curse, to open the tomb. For now, Damon will have to wait a little longer. The Salvatore wasn't too patient but Rowan was his only willing accomplice, so he agreed begrudgingly.
Since Rowan had bought time for everyone, things were much calmer in Mystic Falls. Damon wasn't ruining people's lives and the gang was returning to their mundane life. That was until Jenna decided she was ready. On Saturday the 17th of October Jenna and Rowan sat Elena and Jeremy down. The younger Gilbert girl had started falling for Stefan again and her happiness was showing. Rowan felt guilty for dropping this bomb on her siblings but knew it was for the best.
So Rowan and Jenna gathered the courage and pulled out the adoption papers. "There is something you need to know," started Rowan. She then took her time, slowly telling the story of her birth first. Then she spoke of Elena's and then the adoption. Obviously, the younger siblings didn't take it well. Jeremy was in shock and Elena was hurt. She ran to her room crying and shut the door.
Meanwhile, Jenna felt awful for their reactions and she too began to cry. She worried about losing them and didn't want to be the reason for breaking their hearts. Rowan on the other hand had mixed feelings. On the one hand, she was relieved that the truth came out. On the other, it was painful to be the one to break your family's sweet, perfect image. She sat down holding Jeremy as he blinked in astonishment and couldn't speak.
A few minutes later, Stefan had knocked on the door and Elena joined him. He took her to comfort her and Rowan allowed it. She knew her sister needed space. She wasn't going to push Elena into accepting the truth right now. That had been the entire point of revealing things earlier. It allowed people time to comprehend and process the information. Then they can healthily express their feelings about it. Forgiveness takes time.
Thankfully, Elena had matured due to the circumstance and she forgave quickly. It took just a week for her to start talking to Rowan and Jenna again. She never stopped talking to Jeremy because he was as clueless as she had been. The relationship with the sisters and aunt still needed time to heal but it was steadily mending. Rowan couldn't ask for more, she was ecstatic.
For the rest of the month, things were slow and not very eventful. Except when Zach had left town abruptly. Stefan wouldn't explain why, just that his nephew had important places to be. Rowan was sure that the Ripper finally confessed to his nephew about Sarah. Despite this, she didn't bother the Ripper about it. Instead, she focused on the girls, as they started discussing their Halloween costumes and Rowan decided on a great but funny one. She had been forced to chaperone the high school party at the Grill and she knew Damon was going. What better way to spend her time than to irritate him?
Speaking of which, as Rowan sat down at the dining table studying, she heard a knock on the door. The witch went and opened it, only to find Damon. She had invited him in just a few days back and he still complained about how long it took, for him to be invited in. Which usually made Rowan smirk and shrug in indifference.
"Whatcha doin?" He asked in a sing-song voice, playfully smiling. Rowan rolled her eyes and went back to the dining room.
"Studying, 'cause us mere mortals need to," she replies while pouring him a cup of hot chocolate. He took a seat in front of her.
"I never asked, what do you study?"
"Biomedical Sciences," she replied, handing him the cup.
"Wow, smart one aren't you?" He commented, making the witch roll her eyes once more.
"Dad hoped one of us would end up as a doctor. But that's the maximum for me, Elena can do the rest," explained the woman. Grayson had always preached about his job and Elena always loved making him proud. Meanwhile, Rowan strived for the achievable and the most fun. Research and data are where she thrived.
"Why are you here Damon?" She asked bluntly, knowing by his expression, that he wanted something.
"Since you're a chaperone on Halloween, can you invite me?" He asked with sparkling eyes, making Rowan snicker.
"Oh my god, you can't get a date?" She teased, making him a glare.
"Of course I can. I just wanted us to be together. Plus I can keep the boys away from you. I'm sure your sexy outfit would be very alluring," he explained, trying to sound honourable. Rowan laughed in response, gesturing for him to follow.
They went upstairs to her bedroom and she seductively asked, "want to see my costume?"
"I'd love to," he whispered, licking his lips. Rowan smirked and pulled out the outfit. It was a very good replica of his usual, leather jacket and tight black jeans. She also pulled out the fake vampire teeth.
"I'm going as, you," she informed him. "But obviously better," she continued with a playful look.
"You're kidding!" He stated, with disappointment.
"Why? Worried I'd out stage you?" Asked the witch with a smirk.
"It's Halloween, you need to be a sexy cop, or maybe a nurse. I think you'd be a great nurse!" He argued, causing Rowan to glare.
"Damon I'm going to chaperone, I can't dress slutty just cause it's Halloween!"
"Of course you can!" He exclaimed, starting to dig through her wardrobe. She groaned and laid on the bed, allowing him to explore.
"You're not gonna find what you're looking for," she sang. Rowan didn't mind dressing up at all. The issue lay with the style she preferred. She had always felt more comfortable with elegant clothing rather than sexy. She wasn't very confident in her body and usually preferred to not be on display. That didn't mean she hadn't acquired some drool-inducing outfits. She just never felt confident enough to flaunt them.
After Damon searched for a couple of minutes, he exclaimed an "aha!" He pulled out the dress and Rowan was horrified. It was likely the sexiest thing she owned but never wore. "Not that type of girl aye? Then what's this?" He asked as she waved the dress in front of her. Rowan groaned and got up. She grabbed the dress and hung it back.
"I'm not wearing that or anything similar to it!" She argued and Damon noticed the uncomfortable expression she wore.
"Witchy Gilbert, you're not insecure about your body, are you?" He asked with disbelief.
"It's not exactly like that! I just prefer not to be exposed for everyone to see," defended the witch. Her face was red with embarrassment.
"Come on! You're hot! If I wasn't taken, I'd totally be into you," said Damon with a wink.
"No, you'd be chasing Elena," Rowan fired back with a knowing smirk. Damon glared at her for the comment. "Will you let it go?" Said the witch, folding her arms and daring him to argue.
"Fine! But FYI no one is a better version of me," said Damon.

During Halloween, everything was chaos. The high schoolers were all over the place. Rowan regretted agreeing to chaperone, as she chased many of the students to take away alcohol. She also had to separate people who were on the verge of having sex in public. All in all, it was a mess but the younger ones had fun. There was no crazy vampire Vicki or vengeful Damon. Jeremy was still stuck with the druggie but Rowan let him be for the time being.
She was more excited for the next day. She had prepared daylight rings for Lexi and her boyfriend. Who Rowan couldn't recall the name of. It didn't matter as the witch got excited to meet the blonde bombshell. She had always thought that Lexi deserved better and this was her chance. Rowan had checked and Anna had already turned Ben the bartender. It was a perfect set-up in her eyes.
The next morning was Stefan's birthday, Elena went there first thing with a present in hand. Rowan giggled knowingly, realising Lexi was in for a surprise. Sure enough at around 09:30, Stefan called for the witch to drop by the Boarding House. The witch took her time to get ready, letting them stew. She said goodbye to Jeremy and rode to the Salvatores'.
When she arrived, she found Elena, Lexi and Saint Ripper sat by the fireplace. "Hello," she greeted, trailing off as she sensed the tension in the air.
"Hi, I'm Lexi," the blonde bombshell replied with a polite nod. Rowan smiled and introduced herself.
"So what's with all the tension?" The witch asked, she had a clue but wished to play the gullible friend instead.
"Lexi knows about Katherine," Stefan stated in a serious tone.
"Oh, so how do you like my sister?" Rowan asked sarcastically. The woman replied with an unimpressed look.
"Well imagine my shock, when I realise she's human," Lexi stated, giving Elena a sigh.
"You and I both, sometimes, I swear she's alien. She makes weird noises in the shower," joked the witch, causing Stefan to chuckle.
"Row!" Elena yelled in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry Pup. What you call singing I call whale mating noises," continued the witch with a playful shrug. This time Stefan burst out laughing and even Lexi cracked up at the joke.
"I like you," said the vampire, making Rowan smile and bow.
"It's my pleasure to entertain m'lady," responded the younger cheekily.
"Hmm, it's nice to be treated like a lady after so long. Will you escort me around the city?" Lexi asked and stood up.
"It'll be my pleasure," Rowan replied, trying to head outside. It was an act, pretending she didn't know that Lexi had no daylight jewellery.
"Oh not now, at night," Lexi said, revealing her fingers. Rowan blinked innocently, then stared at Stefan in question.
"Would you like a daylight ring?" She blurted nonchalantly. Stefan's jaw dropped and Rowan was sure that she broke Lexi.
"Rowan! Can you, actually do that?" Stefan asked, hopeful. Lexi gave the witch a look of hope and utter desperation. It made Rowan feel bad for her. The witch didn't recall when Lexi had been turned but knew it was a long time ago. It must have been a struggle all those years. She deserved this.
"I don't mean to ask much but can you? And if you could, is it possible to have two?" Asked the blonde, very hesitantly and almost shy. Rowan gave her best grin.
"Yeah!" Came the simple response, "I'll give them to you in a bit. I'll prepare them at home." Rowan didn't need to do them because they were ready but she didn't want to appear suspicious. She would need an explanation; as to why she's making extra daylight rings. The idea of selling them always made Rowan greedy because many vampires wished to obtain them, which would allow Rowan to make a fortune! She wasn't gonna open a business but she was gonna ask Lexi for a favour.
Rowan rushed back home and after being gone for 20 minutes, she returned to the Boarding House and handed Lexi the rings. The woman burst into tears when she walked into the sun and didn't burn. Damon had come down and seen what the commotion was about. He frowned and furrowed his brows. That reminded Rowan of his plans for Lexi. Luckily for her, Ben was already in place to be the switch. Rowan did feel slight remorse for the young man but he was out of control and Anna needed a warning.
As predicted; the older Salvatore still had his 'girlfriend' (whom he met during Halloween), make a birthday surprise for Stefan. Rowan attended, inspecting the bartender. She had to admit; it was smart of Anna and her boy toys, to scout before trying to free her mother. Well, sadly Rowan planned to cut their story short. "Damon we need to talk, outside," she whispered to the raven. He was talking to his 'girlfriend' and kissing her. He groaned at being interrupted but the expression on Rowan's face shut him up. The sudden request had alerted the other vampires but they ignored it.
"What's going on?" He asked in confusion, as the two stood a little further from the Grill.
"The bartender is a leech," Rowan whispered, it was a subtle way of saying, vampire. Damon's eyes bulged, he bit his lip and the witch could see the wheels turning in his head. He still needed the Council off of his back, as well as let him in. Zach would never willingly allow Damon in. So the raven needed another way.
"Get rid of him," Rowan said bluntly, making Salvatore stare at her in shock. She never showed that she was a violent or hurtful person, this was abnormal. However, he saw how serious she was. "You need to do it, instead of your dumbass plan! Which I know about!" hissed the witch, giving him a judgemental face.
He had the decency to look ashamed, then he simply nodded. Rowan wanted to trust him, so she just went back in and enjoyed herself. Thankfully, everything went according to plan. Damon killed the bartender and alerted Liz. She came and inspected the body, thanking Damon and inviting him to the next Council meeting. Meanwhile, Lexi was alive and well. She was befriending Elena and growing fond of Rowan.

Later that night, the Gilbert witch sat down and went over her plans again. The favour she asked of Lexi; was to have her on standby, as well as get a million dollars payment. Lexi surprised the witch by giving her 5 million instead; saying that a daylight ring was worth far more and besides, Rowan gave her two of them. The blonde's generosity made Rowan even more appreciative. It wasn't her plan to exploit the vampire but she did need the money. She saved some for Jeremy and Elena's college funds. The most important investment with the money, however, was renovating the SWH.
The young witch had discussed the matter with Sheila previously, who took permission from the witches. They weren't going to go crazy with the building. They just wished to give it a proper renovation. Now Rowan had the money to do so. The SWH was the witches' sacred place and meant a lot to them. Not to mention, a perfect training ground. The place was used previously for Rowan's training and now Bonnie's; who was taking to magic like fish to water. She impressed both older witches, with her rapid progress. As Sheila had speculated; interacting with the witches had helped with the training.
Rowan was glad that things were falling into place, rather elegantly. There were only a few more pieces to deal with. One was Jeremy and Vicki's relationship. The witch felt upset about the extension in the relationship. She'd hoped that by now, Jeremy would've let Vicki go. Especially since she insisted that they have an open relationship and flaunted her one with Tyler to everyone. But people were still aware that she sleeps with Jeremy on the side which pissed Rowan off. No one should be able to make a fool out of her siblings.
Another person Rowan wasn't looking forward to handling was Anna. Yes, the girl just wanted her mother but she was honestly rather annoying in Rowan's eyes. The girl was blind and hadn't thought logically after reuniting with her mother. She dragged Jeremy into stupid shit and was worse as a ghost. Hopefully, there will be no such incidents this time around.
Lastly, Rowan was happy to meet Alaric. He was one of her favourite people. He had a kind heart and determined personality. He was the perfect good guy. She was upset with his transformation into a psycho Original. She would try her hardest to prevent his death, at any cost! Rowan knew it was difficult but it was worth it.
