(Vincent's Pov)
Clementine and I stood in the Kitchen a bit and we drank whatever was in the fridge. I leaned on the counter a bit and looked at another clip that was playing on the TV, it had Louis and I walking around the town a bit, I had my guitar with me and Louis had a Violin.
"Wait you played the Violin?" I hear Gabe ask Louis and I look to see the boys passed out on the floor and I chuckled a bit at this as both Clementine and I go back into the living room.
"Yea I did, and the grand piano… was not a healthy point in my life." I hear Louis tell them and I looked to him.
"Why what happened?" Duck asked and Louis looked to me then to the others.
"Believe it or not, Vincent here helped me learn more on music, my dad only wanted me to play the classics, orchestra is what he was looking at me doing, not this, or maybe I could have been a soloist or whatever, anyway Vincent here showed me other genres of music that I didn't know existed when I got sent to the school for troubled youth." Louis explained and I nodded at this and looked to him.
"His favorite song was 'we're not gonna take it', when he saw the cover of the bands album, he didn't believe that they actually made the songs because of how they were dressed." I say as I sit on the arm of the couch.
"Wait really?" Sarah asked and Louis nods.
"Oh, yea it's true, I always thought you had to wear a suit and tie to be a musician not whatever you wanted." He says and I nod.
"So, wait how did you two meet exactly?" Becca asked and I think.
"We were both in the music class at your school, Louis was wearing a suit and I was wearing this old thing." I say as I pull on my vest.
"He came up to me and asked if I was in the wrong class cause everyone else was kind of proper looking, and let's just say he kind of made fun of my clothes so I punched him." I explained.
"Yea not the best thing I've done, I was kind of snobby back then… anyway after that he had to take me to the infirmary and stay there till, I woke up to apologize, when he did, he explained that he couldn't afford nice clothes due to his family's finances so I shouldn't talk down to people like that." Louis tells them.
"Yea but how did you become friends?" Gabe asked.
"Oh, I accidentally gave him the wrong record, I thought it was… fuck what was it?" I asked.
"Mozart, but instead of that he had his Kiss Record in there." Louis says.
"Best thing I ever did though, now you're a rock star." I say and do an air guitar and he copies me and we both laughed at this and I relaxed a bit.
"Yea… it was great, so anyway after that I went up to him and asked what the songs were and what they played in order for it to sound like that, needless to say we've been friends ever since." Louis says and I nod.
"How old were you guys?" Duck asked.
"Shit… I was eleven, and he was ten, anyway after that we decided to make a band together and then a few years later… I was kicked out of my parents' home and so on and here we are now." I say to them and I lean back a bit.
"How did it feel though, when you all started up?" Sarah asked and I look at her.
"Scary, we needed to find more people for one thing, Louis found Marlon, I already knew Brody, then we both found Mitch, Omar, then Ruby found us and Aasim was already with her so… yea… this was after Louis and I left the record deal and started our own thing, it was fun when we started out though." I explained.
"What about… Minerva?" Becca asked and I look to her and think.
"I knew her in school, she and I were dating, at first she didn't want to be a part of the band but then she wanted to after a year I think." I explained.
"You guys are just different from most bands." Sarah says and we all nod at this. After we talked for a while, I helped take the boys to the spare room and then I went back down the stairs to see everyone else was about to watch a movie.
"Dude you're such a nerd." Mitch says as I see Labyrinth playing on the screen.
"Hey, it's a good movie that also involves Muppets." I defend myself.
"But you won't watch the Dark Crystal." Brody says.
"Now those puppets are scary, their original puppet designs are even scarier." I say with a shiver and Clementine pats my back and I chuckled as we all watched the movie. It wasn't long till the others had fallen asleep so I go and grab some blankets for them.
"Need some help?" I hear and look to see Brody and I nod as we get everyone a blanket and set it on them. I recline the chair that Clementine was in gently and placed a blanket on her then I look to Brody who looked at me and then nods to the back door and I nod as we both head out and I take a seat and set a fire in the old pit that was there.
"So… today was just… hell." She says and I nod.
"But I got what I wanted to say off my chest, so I'm done with it, I'm contempt." I tell her and she nods and I look to her.
"Vincent… I just want to ask." She tried to say and I look at her a bit.
"What is on thous mind Brody?" I asked and she laughed a bit at that.
"… Do you really still have feelings for Minerva?" She asked and I look to her.
"Not the her that she is now… I still love the Minerva that would be nice and kind and all that romantic junk… I have no clue anymore." I tried to explain.
"Ok… what… what about Clementine?" She asked and I look at the fire then back to her as I finished poking the fire.
"We are just friends, we both agreed on that after today." I simply tell her.
"But do you have feelings for her? I mean you've known her for almost a month now." She says and I sighed as I looked to my lap.
"I don't want to be in a relationship with anyone right now… I don't think Clementine wants to be with me, and that's a good thing… people would twist it to say she only want's to be with me because I'm famous but… she honestly doesn't care, when she first saw me, she didn't freak out like most fan girls would and it was great to hang out with someone that didn't care if I was famous." I explained.
"It's a new thing for you." She says.
"How?" I asked.
"Well… you and Minerva started to date when you were getting out there and we had thousands of people that knew us already, even when we were in school you were getting out there and showing off your music and people started to notice you." She says and I nod.
"But now, you are near someone who doesn't care if you were famous or would care if you got back into the band, she actually likes you for you." She says.
"Clementine doesn't like me like that, I know she doesn't." I tell her.
"Let's put it in a hypothetical." She says and I nod.
"Hypothetically, if she were to like you… would you want to date her?" She asked.
"Hypothetically?" I asked and she nods and I think a bit then I nod as well.
"Now, hypothetically, if you were to get back into the band, would she be mad?" She asked and I think.
"I don't think so."
"Well, how has she acted?" She asked and I think.
"She's been supportive in all honesty."
"Then she's good for you…. Hypothetically." She says and I chuckled.
"Anyway, I should head to bed now, got a long day tomorrow." She says and I nod as we both head inside and I decide to sleep in the living room as well. I go and lay on the floor and just think about today's events as I fall asleep. I have no idea when I woke up but when I did everyone was already gone and I look to see Clementine still asleep so I decided to get up and make breakfast. Once done I hear someone coming down from the stairs and it was AJ and I smile to him.
"Hey made some breakfast." I tell him as he comes in the living room. I made sure he ate and then I saw Clementine wake up and I brought her food over to her.
"Hmm, thanks." She mutters and I chuckled a bit as we all went in the living room and ate.
"Tenn. and Willy left." AJ says and I nod.
"Yea, the band is getting things ready for auditions and stuff so they had to leave early." I explained and he nodded.
"I have to get AJ to school soon." Clem says and I nod.
"I'll take you both." I tell her. Once we finished, they both took a shower and then I did, once we were all done, we went into my car and I took them both to the school and I then left to the park. Once there I went out to the lake for a bit and got on my phone to work on a resume so I could find a job at least somewhere around here. I was thinking about applying to the music store in town so I ordered a computer, desk, printer, and printer paper to be sent to my house along with a chair as well. After that was said and done, I looked to the lake a bit and I sighed as I got up and headed to the house so I could feed the chickens. I get to the house and I grab the feed from the shed and spread it around for the chickens to eat and I go and check to see if they laid any eggs.
"The women said you guys might not lay as much as you do but hey, we got to check." I tell one of the chickens that stared at me as I looked into the other sections of the hen house and then I went to the chicken as I checked their spot. When that was done, I took any of the eggs they had and I went to the other shed where the daughters said they had an incubator, since they did indeed have a rooster. I looked up how to work it and how t check everything properly and when that was done, I headed inside the house just to hear a knock on the door. I go out to sign for the packages and then got to work on building the desk. After a few minutes I hear my phone go off.
'Hey how's everything going?'
'Going good, trying to build this desk.'
'You got a desk?'
'Oh yea, I needed one, I mean I wanted to get a printer first but then I needed a computer for work if I got a job, then I had to get a desk and a chair as well, you know the usual.'
'Understandable, so what else do you plan on doing today?'
'Well, I can pick you and AJ up, we were going to hang out today anyway, right?'
'Yea we still are, but tomorrow I have to stay home and help with AJ.'
'That's fine, I was going to put in for the job and look around a bit.'
'Hey I have to go we can talk later.'
'Sure, talk to you later.'
"Welp lets finish this up." I muttered as I worked on the desk more. Once I had it all fixed up, I got the desk set up in the study room and I looked at where it was placed. I then went up to my room and grabbed my guitar and I looked at it a bit then I took it to the study room and I sat in the chair and held my guitar a bit. I sighed a bit as I set the guitar against the wall and I think a bit as I get to work on the room. I had gotten things from my car and set up the posters I've had on the trips I've been on when I was on tour. A few more hours pass as I finish up in the study room and I rubbed my neck as I got a good look around.
"Was a good thing I still had those old wall mounts from the studio." I say to myself as I set my guitar on them and I think to order some paint as well as to ask Louis to send me my old Keyboard as well. I then looked at the time and saw that I should go and get Clementine. I drove to the school and sat in the parking lot as I waited for Clementine to get out, it was a bit before there was a knock on my car door and I look to see Clementine and I get out to talk to her.
"Hey we don't have to get AJ my dad is getting out of his lessons early so he is going to get him." She explained and I nodded.
"So, uh… we can head straight to the house and I can make something simple to eat." I suggested and she nods.
"I'm ok with that." She tells me and I nod as I take her stuff and place it in the car. I drove back to my house and when we got out, I headed inside and to the study room.
"Wow." I hear and look to Clementine as she looked around the room and I smiled as she went up to the first poster Louis and I made for our first solo gig.
"You drew this?" She asked.
"Some, Louis and I both worked on it." I say as I stood next to her and she looked at my guitar and I put my hands in my pockets.
"You took it out." She says and I nod.
"Yea, I can't have it collecting dust in a case in my closet, I should display the instrument that started my career." I tell her and she looked to me then to the guitar again. I get to thinking a bit and I grabbed my guitar and look at her.
"I could try and teach you, if you want that is." I tell her and she looked to it then to me.
"I uh… later, ok?" She asked and I nodded as I put it back in its new home and I sat in the chair and watched her look around at all my band stuff.
"You made vinyl's?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yea, CD'S vinyl's, Cassettes, through the internet, anyway people could hear it, like you said my band is different we play different music but we also wanted to have it on as many different ways to listen to it too… cause not everyone could afford new things just to hear us play." I say and she nods at this as she looked though the records and I watched her as she picked up one and I knew which one it was.
"This was before you transitioned, wasn't it?" She asked and I nodded as I saw my deadname on the record.
"Yea, I hadn't legally changed my name at the time so."
"You could have used it as a stage name." She says and I chuckled.
"I wanted people to know my name at the time, not a stage name, Louis was the same way… but I personally am not ashamed to have it on this cover." I say as I get up and grabbed the album and looked at it.
"Why is that?" She asked and I smiled at it.
"My Grandfather…. You know he was the one to name me? And every birthday he would give me a flower for however old I was, and it was a violet." I explained.
"You really looked up to him?" she asked and I nodded.
"Oh, I did… he was a kind old man, who wanted a big family, wanted to spoil any grandkids he had… my uh dad's sister didn't bring her kids around much so I guess you can say he got attached to me more." I say as I pulled the record out and placed it on the turntable and started it up. Some soft instrumental music was playing and I remember writing this just to calm my nerves.
"Did they not like that?" She asked.
"Oh they hated it especially when we had to go to the reading for his will… they wanted to try and sue me for the stuff like his old Cadillac he gave it to me since my grandma can't drive anymore, and he made sure my grandma has it in her will that when she passes away I'm to have all the remaining money they have, along with the house, the boat, pretty much everything that my grandma didn't buy herself and he bought it… I was a mess that day and they made it worse because they made it all about the money." I explained.
"I'm so sorry." She tells me.
"Fuck they told me I should give the money to them because I already have too much from running away and making music." I say and looked to the photo I had of my grandfather and I on the desk.
"That's fucked up." I hear her say and I nod in agreement.
"In all honesty I didn't think I would get anything, I thought he would give the stuff to my dad but he just left him some money and the others too just so they couldn't take me to court because they got something out of it." I explained and I feel her hug me and I sighed as I looked to her.
"I'm sorry they acted that way, they shouldn't have." She tells me.
"It's fine… they didn't want to spend time with him and it kicked them in the ass… my mom was family oriented; she would make sure I knew everyone in my family, my cousins, my nieces, nephews, everyone… that's why my grandpa liked her as a mother, he would tell her she's the only one of his kid's wives that would bring his grandchild over to see him and grandma, my grandma liked that too because she would spoil me." I joked and we both laughed.
"So, he was ok with you being who you really are?" She asked and I nodded.
"Everyone thought he would disown me; he was a very religious man I think that's another reason they hated me." I say as I think about it.
"I was at my grandfathers home, we were all having a family reunion, I pulled him to the side to tell him but one of my aunts decided to put herself in the conversation and tell everyone, my dad already knew and threw me out a week before this but he didn't want anyone involved in his families business… anyway everyone was looking at us I know they were even with my head down, I felt like I was a disappointment to my grandfather and I was about to apologized to him but before I could he made me look at him… asked if I was happy… and after I told him yes…. He hugged me and told me 'You are my grandchild, I will love you no matter what, you do what makes you happy and I will support you anyway I can.'" I tell Clementine and she was smiling a bit and I chuckled.
"Then he joked and said 'maybe you can find a woman or man like your mom and let me see my great grandchildren too'… it was funny because he said it loud enough for everyone to hear it." I tell her and the music stopped and I went and put it back in its cover then placed it back in its spot.
"Well, I mean he was right though, if they didn't spend time with him, he should say that to make them feel bad about it." She tells me and I nod.
"Anyway, enough on this uh, what do you want to do?" I asked her as she looked around a bit more.
"Hmm, we could go to the movies, I have some free tickets we could use." She says and I think.
"How'd you get free tickets?" I asked as we both got ready.
"When we went to go see the movie they played ten minutes of the movie without it on the screen, and the AC wasn't working at all we were cooking in there, we went out and complained and so they gave us free movie tickets to compensate." She explained.
"That must have been hell." I opened the door for her so she could leave and I followed behind her.
"Oh, yea it was, but hey free tickets."
"Can't go wrong with that… is there anything good going on?" I asked as she looked up on her phone and we both leaned on the car for a bit.
"Hmm, oh they have reruns going on like IT Chapters one and two, A Quiet Place, oh even X-men." She says as she looked through all the movies playing.
"Hmm, which one do you want to see?" I asked.
"I'm not sure, I mean the only ones I haven't seen were the IT movies." She tells me.
"Well, he's basically a killer clown." I say.
"Wow way to spoil the movie." She laughed and so did it.
"We can go watch that if you want." I tell her.
"Do you want to?" She asked and I nodded. As we got things ready, I took her to my car and she gave me the directions to the small drive-in theater they had since it was nice out and we could use the other tickets at any other time.
"I haven't been to a drive in for a while." I tell her.
"Oh, yea might as well go here than the theater itself since it's nice out tonight." She explained and we got out the car and she paid for our spot so I went to the concessions stand they had. I looked to the menu a bit and Clementine came up next to me.
"We could share a drink and popcorn." She suggested and I nod.
"I'll get a large than." I was next in line so I went up and we both got a Mr. Pibb and a large popcorn. We then went to the car and sat down with the windows down a bit and I set the drink in the cupholder and then the movie starts up and I watch the movie. We were about half way through with the first chapter of the IT movies as I looked over to Clementine who was enjoying it, I couldn't help but smile at this and then I remember what Brody and I had talked about before she had left.
"So, how's the movie so far?" She asked and I looked to her.
"Oh, it's good, really good actually." I say and she nods.
"You having fun?" I asked and she nods.
"Yea, haven't been to a drive in since my real parents." She says and I look to her confused.
"Real Parents?" I asked and she thought a bit on what I was asking then she laughed a bit.
"Oh god did I forget to tell you I was adopted?" She laughed and I looked to her as she calmed down from laughing too much.
"I… no but I would understand if you didn't tell me." I explained and she nods as she calmed down a bit more. She took a deep breath and would laugh a little here and there and I waited for her to finish.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm just so use to everyone already knowing I forgot to mention it." She says and I nod at this.
"But yea I'm adopted, Lee isn't my real father but I think of him as my dad, Carly is like my mom… AJ is adopted as well, Lee and Carly took us in Lee was a close family friend so he took me in." She says and I nod at this not really having much to say on this.
"I'm glad he took you in… I uh... um." I mutter as I tried to find the right words.
"I am too…. Anyway, last time we saw a movie I was six, so this brings back some memories." She explained and I nod.
"I can't remember the last time I went to one, I know my grandfather made a homemade one for me and him, I had those tiny cars that ran on those small batteries, and he put his lawn chair next to me, he had made popcorn and gave me a drink and we watched old western movies together." I explained and we looked to the movie more. When the movie finally finished, they had an intermission so people can take a break. I got out the car to head to the concessions stand again with Clementine and we got refills on our drink and popcorn.
"This is a fun night." I say as we get back to the car and I set the things in the car.
"Yea it is, but to be honest being with you is always fun, granted with the drama that happened it's still fun." She says as we take a seat in the car.
"Yea I am really sorry about all that I just… I tried to get out of it, that didn't work and all that stupid stuff, but regardless I am happy and I am allowed to have fun." I say and the second movie starts up so we continue to sit and watch the movie, it was a good movie in my opinion. About halfway through I had to get up to use the restroom so I told Clementine I would be back. I headed to the restroom and went to go do my business before I heard a bunch of guys walking in.
