The many escapades of Zarbon: Volume Two
Zarbon sees an Elder Scrolls game
It was a well enough morning when Zarbon, an elite space warrior from another planet, decided to swing by the apartment kept by his friend Gasser, who had just started his weekend from work. After knocking on the door, Zarbon waited for a few seconds before Gasser had opened the door. "Oh, what's up, man?" Gasser greeted in a friendly tone.
"Well it's just that I've never seen your place since you came back to Shonen City," Zarbon began, then added while holding up a plastic case that held half a dozen muffins, "And I do owe you a nice housewarming gift, so I figured that I would kill two birds with one stone by coming here with these muffins."
Smiling warmly, Gasser gestured for Zarbon to come on inside. When he had stepped into Gasser's apartment, Zarbon saw that his friend had a rather diverse taste in decór; there was a portrait of Handsome Squidward hanging on the wall above the TV, the shelf unit had an hourglass with a Halloween theme to it in the top shelf next to a crystal ball on a small display stand, and a map of Skyrim was on the wall to the shelf unit's left.
Zarbon regarded the map of Skyrim with a look of piqued interest. "Ah yes, this is from that game you had referenced when we had gone into that ancient elven ruin to get the Elven crown of Sus for General Wulfric a while ago."
Seeing what Zarbon was looking at, Gasser nodded in confirmation. "Yeah, I've played a royal fuck-ton of Skyrim. I'm actually playing a different Elder Scrolls game right now."
"Really?" Zarbon said in surprise, then turned to look at Gasser's TV and saw the game that Gasser was playing. Confusion spread over Zarbon's face when he saw the game. "...It seems to be a bit cartoony to be an Elder Scrolls game."
Gesturing to his game, Gasser replied, "Well yeah. This is an Elder Scrolls game set in the world of Futurama."
That made Zarbon perk up a bit out of curiosity. "Futurama and Elder Scrolls? That seems to be a bit of an odd couple."
"I thought so as well at first, even when I dabbled in it when it first came out because I'm an Elder Scrolls nerd," Gasser replied. Turning back to look at his game, Gasser went on, "But I'm glad that what concerns I had were blown clear out of the water. This has been one of the best games that I have ever played, easily placing right into my top five."
Zarbon, his interest piqued even more, sat down next to Gasser on the sofa. "So what's the game like?"
"Well as in all Elder Scrolls games," Gasser began, "When you first start the game, you're a prisoner. In the case of The Elder Scrolls: Futurama, you'll be in the back of a police car in New New York with the robot character Clamps on your right, as the two of you are being taken to the police station to be booked before you're taken to prison."
Zarbon nodded to show that he was following along. "Go on."
"When you get to the police station and get out of the police car, you'll then get to actually create your character," Gasser went on, "In addition to the choice of male or female for your character's gender, you can pick from a selection of nine different races for your character's race, and they're races in Futurama rather than the traditional Elder Scrolls races. My character that I'm playing as, for example, is a female Neptunian."
The interest of the elite space warrior was piqued as Gasser described how the game worked so far. "It sounds like a lot of care for the Futurama series had gone into making this here Elder Scrolls game, Gasser."
Nodding in agreement, Gasser replied, "Oh yeah, it's loaded with all sorts of details that fans of Futurama will enjoy. And given how immersive this game is, Elder Scrolls fans will enjoy it as well. I know I am."
Turning to look back at the game, Zarbon said, "So this is a very immersive game, huh?"
"Oh yeah," Gasser began, "Elder Scrolls as a whole is very immersive. Trust me when I say that when it comes to video game immersion, no other game will let you go in deeper."
"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!" Zarbon cried out in aroused, sensual pleasure, "Tell me more, Gasser!"
Gasser, with a wry look of amusement on his face, obliged Zarbon, going right into detail on the lore of The Elder Scrolls: Futurama. The elite space warrior from another planet was virtually enraptured as Gasser described how the player character in TES:F is the reincarnation of 'The Chosen One', and is ultimately tasked with defeating the Futurama character Mom.
It all sounded very exciting to Zarbon.
Author's notes;
Yeah, this chapter was inspired by how I had been playing a lot of Skyrim when I got my folks the first few volumes of Futurama DVDs to watch, and I had a dream where I played a Futurama Elder Scrolls game, although I think that the character that I had in my dream was something other than a Neptunian, though. Anyway, Cell and the others will show up next time to continue one of the plot lines that's currently ongoing here. Later, skaters.
