 Author has written 23 stories for Being Human, and Mentalist. I'm Chris (short for Christine) - a 40-something based in the UK. The avatar comes thanks (?!) to Sue Shay, who is not only a talented writer but also has a flair for graphic design. Her "Helpful Pedant of the Year" Award! If only I was so good at editing my own work! I discovered the delights of FF in 2012, through the blog for the UK series of Being Human, and loved it. After a while I decided to contribute as an occasional writer. Whilst I have been a dedicated Mentalist fan from series 1, I only started to read the FF in late 2012 and was soon hooked. Recently I decided to dip my toe in here as well, inspired by the challenges on the Paint-it-Red forum. My favourite characters are Jane and Lisbon but I think all 5 leads are brilliant and I enjoy the team dynamics. As well as these programmes, I enjoy Castle, the various flavours of CSI and Dr Who - particularly the Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant years. I hope to see more of Endeavour, a pre-quel to Morse, based in Oxford, UK and enjoy Lewis. Another favourite - like Being Human now sadly ended - was Merlin. In addition, I appreciate the work of Iain Stewart - around the Earth, its geology and the relationship with the human world - and Gareth Malone, who has achieved great things in making singing accessible to people in the UK. I'm an avid reader, with a particular focus on fantasy, crime and non-fiction. In particular, I have enjoyed the Terry Pratchett books, the Christopher Paolini Inheritance Cycle, the David Eddings Belgariad and Mallorean series, and the work of Maria V Snyder. Anything redemptive, regardless of genre, makes me happy! I also love the theatre and a wide range of music from rock and pop to folk and country. Favourite actors are too many to mention but particularly Simon Baker (surprise!), Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Liam Neeson (a voice I could listen to for hours), John Simm, Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Felicity Kendal, Juliet Stevenson and Helen Mirren. I have a large soft spot for the Being Human cast, particularly Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey, Leonora Critchlow, Jason Watkins, Sinead Keenan, Damien Molony, Michael Socha and Kate Bracken. My pet hates include reality TV shows like Big Brother, I'm a celebrity and The Apprentice. I know many people love them but they're just not for me! |
