Life and Death

Bleach crossover

Summary:With the invasion of the Bounts, Yamamoto-Genryūsai Shigekuni decides it is finally time to take a chance. But, what consequences will come from unleashing a shinigami that had been purposely sealed away?

"I honestly think—" the twelfth division captain, Kurotsuchi Mayuri, began again.

"Enough," Yamamoto called out. He cast his eyes over the gathered shinigami, sighing, as he continued, "We will discuss the tenth division captain's punishment at a later date. For now, we have more pressing matters to attend to."

Soi Fon stepped forward, asking, "General Yamamoto, sir, I believe we would all like to know what these matters currently are. My forces are already pursuing the Bounts, and I am positive that the other—"

"Silence!" Yamamoto finally roared.

Soi Fon fell back, dipping her head down in respect.

"The security of the Seireitei has been breached more than once since the substitute-shinigami infiltrated our walls. It has become clear to me that our defenses have grown weak, whether from lack of discipline or focus, and thus I have decided it is time to revoke the sentence placed upon the shinigami Higurashi Kagome." Yamamoto left no room for argument, though he knew there would be some from his old student.

Kyōraku Shunsui frowned in thought, before finally tilting his straw hat back from his face. "Now wait a minute here, Yama-jiji," he said. "You honestly want to unleash that woman?"

"Higurashi Kagome can be controlled," Yamamoto continued. "Her spiritual pressure is on a grand scale, but being restricted to the Seireitei can and will contain her. The strength of the thirteen guard squads, especially the captains, can easily bring her back underneath our control."

"Well," Shunsui sighed, "if you're absolutely positive. I mean, the last time that woman unleashed her spiritual pressure—"

"I am perfectly aware," Yamamoto scoffed.

Shunsui merely rubbed his chin in thought.

"I'm afraid I must disagree, General Yamamoto, sir," Byakuya spoke up. "I do not believe it would be best for us to unleash Higurashi Kagome."

"Whether you believe it best or not," Yamamoto stated, "it shall be done, and I expect you to respect the choice I have made."

Summary:Sasuke only noticed her because she acted like he did not exist, as if his Uchiha blood meant little to her. He never could have guessed the true reason she was there, though.

This scene would have been more toward the end

"Do you know how hard it is to never be able to touch anyone without violence?" she asked quietly.

"But you allow Neji—" she cut him off, not allowing him to speak another word.

"And to know instantly whether that person you have touched is innocent or wicked? To know, even without physical contact, whether or not that person could be the one to complete the puzzle—to love and accept you completely," she whispered. "You can't know. That's why you don't understand the reason I allow Neji to touch me."

"Then why do you?" he growled.

She raised the kunai she was holding and pressed it to her arm, allowing the blade to draw blood. Then, slowly, she wiped the red liquid onto the edge, and lifted it into the light for him to easily see. "Most people in my clan would call the condition we have a blessing, simply because they know who they are destined to be with. I don't. I have never been able to see how they could call it a blessing, when it's an infection. It lives in our bodies, in our blood, and forces us to take extra measures in order to keep our heightened sense under control. We cannot live normal lives, and even with this talent, most of my clan never finds the one that suits them completely."

"That's not answering my question," Sasuke bit out. He was unable to help himself; the woman was just so frustrating. He did not know why the mentioning of her engagement earlier had rushed through his blood like a wild fire, and he did not know why he wished to know why she allowed a Hyuuga to touch her. He simply wished to know, and his Uchiha pride refused to let it go until the damned wench answered.

"I allow Neji to touch me," she continued, "because when I met him I knew instantly that I could never grow to love him unconditionally. I know I'm being selfish... because I know of his feelings for me, but I can't stop myself. I can't help that I feel comfort in his arms, but it's... it's more like I feel as if Neji is a kindred spirit that needs my comfort as much as I need his. I feel like he's part of my family, like my brother, almost."

Sasuke's head snapped back a little, almost as if she had hit him square in the face. However, the look he gave her was still hard and calculating, waiting for the moment that she would give away the reason she drew him to her. "Then why don't you call off that silly marriage you're supposed to have with him?" Sasuke hissed.

Her eyes twinkled, "I never thought that a Uchiha would listen to silly rumors."

"I don't—" the words caught in his throat from the look she was suddenly giving him. Her eyes had softened; almost to the point that it was hard for him to realize that he was supposed to be angry with her. She had come into his life without even a whisper, turned it upside down, and yet never once turned to look in his direction. She probably knew what she was doing to him, probably enjoyed it, but he felt at that moment, with her eyes so soft, that he should allow her that bit of fun.

Her lip turned upward into a smirk, "And, I never thought that that rumor would spread to be so grand. Who would have ever guessed that a silly fan girl would take my joke so seriously? After all, I was merely trying to make her leave the man I consider one of my brothers alone, but it seems that I put a little too much effort into it. Didn't I, Sasuke-kun?"

His eyes widened a bit when she stepped closer. Once more her steps told him that she knew she was dangerous—she knew that she caused men to turn into complete fools—but she also knew that she was more of a person by ignoring that fact. She leaned toward him, almost as if she was about to capture his lips in a searing kiss, and he would be damned if he did not wish she would. However, she merely turned her head a little and brushed her cheek up against his, and caused a wave of feeling to wash over him—a wave of peace.

"At the moment, though, I am more concerned with something else," Kagome whispered into his ear. "Can you guess what I am concerned about, Sasuke-kun?"

He did not answer, feeling his tongue grow heavy with her so near.

"I have felt many things in my life, but I have never felt this," she brushed her cheek against his again, and caused herself to shiver from the feeling. "I have heard of it, many times from those who have had the pleasure of finding it, but I have never felt a soul that connected so easily with mine. I have never found a soul that was the complete opposite of mine, and thus fit mine so perfectly that I found peace by the simplest of touch. So, I do believe I am concerned over you, Uchiha Sasuke."

He tried to speak, but merely gulped when her hand gripped his upper arm. Damn it, he wished nothing more than to clutch her to him suddenly, seal their lips as one, and rid her of the clothing wrapped around her flesh. The touch felt almost desperate as her fingers dug into his clothing, into his skin, and that gave him a little pleasure. The fact that she was almost as undone as he was, wanting to search underneath and within the flesh for what drew them so strongly, stopped him from moving.

"The infection of my clan is something that cannot be lied to, and I am surprised that I found one such as you within Konoha. I am surprised that I did not notice before. But, what surprises me the most, is I have found the one that can complete my puzzle—love me unconditionally because of who I am," she hissed into his ear. "And, I think I rather like it."

Sasuke hissed between his teeth when her mouth latched onto his ear, sucking the shell into her mouth. She gave him no mercy, causing his desire to spiral higher and higher, as she traced the appendage with her tongue, her mouth and her lips. She seemed to know exactly what he wished of her at that moment and she gave it to him without him having to say a word, almost as if he were a book and she was skimming his pages.
