I do not own Doctor Who
Bad Wolf grinned as the car pulled into the mansion. The grin stretched wider at the look on Jenny's face as they all got out and took in the giant palace that towered over them.
'Wow,' the soldier breathed. 'That is some home.'
Pete chuckled, pleased. 'Thank you, but not all of it is great.' He looked away from Jenny's questioning look, walking past her with keys jingling in his hands.
Once they were inside, Bad Wolf spun around in a circle, taking in the majestic house. Her glowing eyes gleamed with happiness. She looked like a kid in a candy store.
Behind her, Rose cleared her throat. 'So you've never been in a mansion, huh?'
Bad Wolf turned around grinning. 'Nope. Never have. What's it like? Does it-?' she cupped her hands to her mouth and shouted, 'Echo!'
Bad Wolf's voice-which sounded almost identical to Rose's-bounced around the large front room, startling the others.
Rose smiled, but a hint of distress was on her face. 'We have a lot of spare rooms, you're free to pick whichever one you want. Mickey and I will show you two around.'
Jenny and Bad Wolf followed Rose and Mickey around the mansion. The two newcomers wandered around the endless hallways and stairs with wonder. Bad Wolf's eyes lit up-metaphorically speaking, as they were already glowing-when they entered the highest level of the mansion.
'Oh! I want this room!' she bounded in a dusty circular room with windows as large as boulders. The walls reached up as tall as giraffes, the floor was as bare as an abandoned ballet studio.
In Jenny's opinion, it was-without doubt-the ugliest room she'd ever seen. Bad Wolf beamed at her like a child opening her Christmas gifts.
Rose and Mickey seemed to share Jenny's opinion. Mickey cleared his throat. 'Uh, okay. There you go, then. You like it?'
'I love it,' Bad Wolf said enthusiastically.
'Yeah, um.' Rose twisted a lock of her hair between her fingers. 'We were going to use it as storage for embarrassing baby photos, but I guess not then.'
Jenny looked around. A room near where the latch to the attic caught her eye. 'Can I have this room?' she asked. Upon opening the door, the inside was the opposite of Bad Wolf's choice but more abandoned-looking.
The room was square and had one window at the end. The walls were the same height as Bad Wolf's. The entire room was dusty and clearly had no visitors for ages.
'Oh, no.' Mickey hurried over, pulling Jenny out of the room. 'Maybe you shouldn't choose that one.'
'No?' Jenny looked at Rose and Mickey, confused. 'Why not?'
Rose glanced at her feet. Mickey shoved his hands in his pockets with more force than necessary. They looked like someone had beaten up a puppy in that room.
'Because...' Mickey sighed. 'Pete's first wife used to live in that room. The Jackie Tyler from this world...she died a while ago.'
Jenny was silent for a moment. She looked down in sorrow. 'Oh. Sorry,' she muttered. 'I didn't realize.'
'It's fine.' Rose gave a weak half-smile. Jenny could see the grief and past-trauma on her face: a look she was familiar with after several experiences fighting aliens and evil plans like her dad. 'You didn't know.'
'Well.' Jenny tried to lighten the mood. 'How about that room?'
She led the way to another closed door a good distance away from the late Jackie Tyler's room. Rose and Mickey followed behind, a small delay in their paces.
'This good?'
Jenny walked inside another bare room. 'You have a lot of empty rooms here, you know?' she commented. 'Can I ask why?'
Mickey cleared his throat. 'It's a big house. We don't have a lot of stuff, since, you know, this isn't our world. And Pete's job was completely trashed, too. So we don't really have much use for a lot of the rooms, especially on the higher levels.'
'Oh, okay, thanks!'
'So, you can decorate it however you want to,' Rose added. 'We've got a lot of money, so, don't be shy.'
Bad Wolf stuck her head out to look at the three. 'Hey, so when's dinner?'
Alright. I know it's been a month since I've updated this, so, sorry for the long wait. I'm probably not going to update this for a while, again. So, sorry again. Ha, I hope that's not too bad. Anyways, thanks for reading!
