Jill come to her senses feeling that she was in a sitting position. Her head hurt terribly and was dizzy, everything was floating before her eyes, her mouth was dry, and she was experiencing a terrible feeling of nausea. A few short movements made it clear to her that she was tightly bound, although, judging by the sound, rather chained.
The muscles of the whole body were numb and sore. Jill stirred slightly and immediately let out a low moan: she really felt like shit.
Jill couldn't understand how something like this could happen. How could she allow something like this? Letting herself fall into such a ridiculous, elementary trap, like a rookie. However, according to their data, the scientist at the moment had no connection with any organization that could provide him with people. She could have understood the presence of BOW, after all, you can create them yourself, but so many well-armed people... Of course, Wesker had told her that the situation was most likely hadn't changed for the better, and that the mission could be fraught with danger, but Jill clearly didn't expect something like this. It was her miscalculation. She should have acted more carefully, more wisely. She really didn't want to believe that Wesker had anything to do with her defeat, that he could be involved. It was out of the question. She just needed to take his words more seriously and not brush them off, not act too presumptuous. That's what happens when your mind is occupied with the wrong thing.
Nevertheless, she understood perfectly well, since she was still alive, it means that this person still needed her for some reason. It was giving her time to figure out how to get out of here.
Given the semi-darkness and vision problems, it turned out to be a difficult task to understand what surrounds her. Jill squeezed her eyes shut a few times, hoping it would help her see better. However, the experiment didn't last long. A bright light appeared before her eyes, as if someone had lit a lamp, followed by the silhouette of a man. It seemed that this man was a fanatic of this technique. He bent down, bringing his face closer to Jill's.
"Well, well, well, Jill Valentine."
He drew out every word with such pleasure that Jill felt even more sick. It wasn't hard to guess that in front of her was the scientist they were looking for–Mr. Dr. Jeff Peterson. The thought that she was going to kill him gave her a strange combination of feelings. On the one hand, she felt like a predator who had been caught by her own prey, on the other, she was still a predator, and the danger still emanating from her warmed her soul. Jill knew she hadn't said the last word yet and was in anticipation.
"Dr. Peterson..." she said, but she didn't like the way her voice sounded at all. In her head, she it was strong and confident, but her voice was quiet, weak, hoarse and broken.
"You don't have to talk, darling, I'm sure this is not an easy task for you right now."
Jill understood that it was absolutely pointless to even try to find out what he had done to her or to threaten him. She had no intention of showing her weakness or begging for mercy. However, she needed to study the situation.
"Found some friends for yourself… as I can see."
"Yes, now I'm not alone and safe."
"How long have I been here?"
"Always the most important question, isn't it? How much time, how much time has passed, do we have time left? For quite some time. About 12 hours. It's deep night now and you may feel tired."
Jill knew perfectly well that she felt tired not because of the late time, but because of the drugs with which she was poisoned.
"So what do you need from me?"
"Do I need from you? You're the one who broke into my place with a gun, my darling. You."
Peterson lisped pretty strong, like a snake. It only made Jill more disgusted. The whistling sounds literally slammed into her consciousness, echoing inside her head. Jill glared at him. The scientist walked aimlessly from side to side.
"At least you know who I am."
Peterson's attention turned back to Jill. He walked up to her and bent down to see her better.
"Oh, yes, I know. I know all about you, darling. And I found out that your dear Chris Redfield is looking for you. And he is looking not somewhere, but here in Switzerland. It was only a matter of time before you came to me."
"I don't see the relationship."
"Yes, yes, for sure. But I know something important is going on. I've been preparing for this moment, I've been preparing for a very long time. I had my own team, a corporation behind my back, they all betrayed me. But I'm not going to give up. I still have my work and my brain. I had to sell some things, but I was able to pay for security. As you can see, it wasn't in vain."
"Have been preparing for a long time?"
"I always knew that sooner or later the BSAA in your person would find me. You've already been on my trail. But then everything went quiet after you disappeared. And then I found out that Mr. Redfield started looking for you here. I guessed it wasn't that simple."
Jill just snorted.
"I know everything about you. I've made inquiries. I have my sources. I know how you disappeared. Dr. Albert Wesker, that's who was behind all this." Jill raised her eyes and stared at him. "You should know where he is. I want to know everything. How he managed to keep you alive. And what you do for him. Chris, is he your prisoner or ally?"
"You are delusional."
Jill's vision has already returned to normal and she saw the scientist's eyes wandering. He looked paranoid.
"You can't fool me, darling. No one could have survived what happened to you. And if you're alive, then Dr. Wesker did something to you. Something grandiose. He was a genius. I have heard a lot about his work, took an example from him. He is one of the few who managed to survive, and I have to find him in order to unite our forces. We both hate Umbrella. We are pursuing the same goal." He looked Jill up and down and she badly wanted to punch him in the face. "Dr. Wesker, that's who I need. He will help me solve all my problems. And you, you will help me find him."
"Me? What makes you even think I know where he is? That he's still alive?"
"As I said already, my darling, you wouldn't made it out of that adventure unscathed without his brilliant mind."
"But I'm not with him, as you can see. I have no idea where Wesker is..."
"Dr. Wesker!"
Jill opened her mouth, looking at the man in surprise.
"No way! I'm not going to play your games and pay tribute to this sick bastard. I managed to escape from him. And I'm not going to..."
"You're lying... but anyway, even if you're not… You're his creation, and he'll want you back. All I need is to spread a message..."
Jill tensed. Actually, it wasn't really such a bad idea. She could report where he was and Peterson would found him. The main thing is that Wesker would find out what was going on. It was a good chance to escape. But... Peterson was a scientist, paranoid and carefully prepared for the meeting. It was a risk. Wesker could also be trapped. Who knows what other tricks this psycho had up his sleeve. Jill just couldn't let that happen.
"And? What will happen next? He'll kill you as soon as he finds you. Wesker doesn't like it when his toys are taken without permission."
I won't touch you, so he won't have a reason to be angry. Especially if you really have run away..."
"It's Wesker, he'll take what belongs to him and kill you."
"Not if I offer him a good deal. An offer he can't refuse."
"Naive. Do you really think you can interest him? That he can be trusted? As far as I know, up to this point he betrayed all his companions."
"I worked for Umbrella for fifteen years, I know what I'm dealing with. Just like I know I'll be able to hold his interest. Continuing the legacy of Dr. Birkin, creating a new organization, we'll become the ones who will hold this miserable world in their hands. And no one else will be able to betray us, control us, manipulate us. We'll be in charge. With Dr. Wesker as the leader, of course."
Jill was thinking about his words. He wasn't going to touch her because he needed her. But what about Chris? It was obvious that he was in much more danger than she was.
"What about Chris?"
"Another nice bonus. I'll leave him for the doctor. I'm sure that he'll be happy to do some experiments on Mr. Redfield when he gets him. In the meantime, I can use him against you, Miss Valentine. He will suffer until you tell me where Dr. Wesker is. You've ran away from somewhere."
"You seem to have planned to spread the message..."
"It's less reliable. It may not reach the addressee, but others may be delighted with such a pleasant find. Many people hate you. You could help me speed up the search process, make things much more simp..."
The Doctor didn't have time to finish. A loud metallic sound in the distance made him freeze.
"Security, where is my security." He whispered quietly and nervously.
Jill saw the scientist start darting from side to side, then ran into a small room that looked like his office from afar, and then returned with a shotgun in his hands. "
While Peterson was bustling, the uninvited guest had already managed to reach them. Jill distinctly heard muffled footsteps. After a few moments the door to the room, where they were, opened without difficulty, and she saw Wesker.
Sighing in relief, Jill dropped her shoulders. Thank goodness it was quick, although she didn't know how he managed it.
Dressed all in black, poised and unperturbed as always, Wesker walked inside, practically paying no attention to her.
"Dr. Jeff Peterson, I guess."
Peterson wasn't expecting this visit, he was in a panic, but the first emotion was replaced by another, much more enthusiastic one. The scientist suddenly beamed and seemed ready to fall to his knees in front of Wesker.
"Dr. Albert Wesker! What an unexpected but so pleasant meeting!"
"Really?"
"Yes, yes! I longed to meet you, but I couldn't even imagine in my wildest fantasies that you would be here yourself, and even so soon. But it seems I played my cards right. Look, look here. See what I have for you, Doctor. Jill Valentine. Although you were probably aware that she was here. After all it was thanks to her that you found me, wasn't it?"
Peterson looked pointedly at the tall blond man. Wesker cast an indifferent glance in Jill's direction, his attention returned to Peterson.
Jill sat waiting and confused. She couldn't understand why Wesker was stalling. He just had to raise his hand with a gun and put a bullet in the forehead of this talkative psycho and then untie her. Armed guards were still waiting for them, which had to be dealt with. But Wesker didn't shoot.
