"Please-!"

"Strap her down!"

There were people all around Izumi. Hands, too many of them, were grasping and grabbing at her as they tried to pin her to her bed. "Get off!" Izumi screamed. She didn't know these people. First she was sobbing violently in her mothers arms, then strangers came rushing in and forcibly separated the two of them.

Izumi couldn't focus on one person, there had to be at least five separate pairs of hands all over her body. They were trying to keep her down, to stop her from fighting and kicking. There was also yelling, so much yelling that she couldn't understand it all. She was sure she was hearing her mothers voice in the mix, but the only ones she could hear were those closest to her.

Izumi felt her body struggle against these people. Her quirk was surging like crazy, threatening like an overfilled tea kettle ready to pop off any second now. The nurses and doctors grabbed her hands, some grabbed her by her head, while others by her feet and ankles. Too many people-

"Quirk suppressants!" someone snapped and in that moment Izumi didn't see many faces surrounding her, pinning her down to the hospital bed while they struggled with her limbs and her quirk at the same time. They were all Fujiwara.

"Get off…" Izumi hissed between clenched teeth. Her quirk continued to surge, but before she knew it, someone, one of the Fujiwara's staring her down, had stabbed her arm. Izumi's quirk died in an instant, but that didn't stop her body from reacting as anyone would after being stabbed. She managed to free her right arm and with one wild swing, using the side of her fist instead of her knuckles, she punched the nearest Fujiwara in the face sending him flying.

There was yelling. Lots of yelling. So much so that Izumi couldn't make out what was being said. Then, next thing she knew, she was strapped to the bed. Long belt like straps went across her chest and knees and once her arms and feet were secure they tightened the straps, making sure she couldn't get out.

Izumi was shaking her head. Complete and utter panic took hold of her whole body. She knew she was muttering and crying. "Let me go. Just let me go, please. Please." She remembered saying as she tried her hardest to free her hands from the binds "Please! I didn't mean to tell people! Don't hurt my mom, please!"

It was her last desperate plea before an oxygen mask was shoved over her nose and mouth. Izumi tried to fight it, tried to shake it off her face, but they were keeping a harsh grip on the mask so that her headshakes weren't doing anything.

There was the pinch of a needle into her right arm and at first Izumi didn't know what to think as she tried to kick her legs or move her arms. Then she started to feel… off.

Sleepy even.

"Shhh… There's a good girl. Mommy is here." A hand was petting her curls, the voice was there but fading like she was in a tunnel. Izumi tried to look to see who was touching her, afraid of Fujiwara standing there, but her vision was starting to darken around the edges.

"Sleepy, sleepy." A new voice had whispered into her ear and Izumi's vision completely faded to black.

'What a day.' Toshinori breathed out a sigh as he entered the hospital for the second time that day, well, night now as the sun was starting to set. The sky turned a rusty shade of orange as darkness was threatening to be upon them. Toshinori looked over at Aizawa, it was clear the underground hero wanted nothing more than to hunt Fujiwara down, but he was advised (more like threatened) to stay put by Nedzu.

Aizawa was trying to sink his face into his scarf while he had his hands shoved deeply into his pants pocket. His eyes read murder and the aura surrounding him read the same as well.

Detective Tsukauchi stood on Toshinori left looking just as tired as Aizawa, but not as murderous.

They needed to talk to both Midoriyas now. Something that wasn't going to be easy regarding the subject manner. Toshinori was going to be strong about this, for Izumi's sake. Right now she needed him to be strong, she needed her hero now more than ever.

The good news was that both Inko and Izumi were both on the fourth floor of the hospital. So, it made talking to them a lot easier. Maybe they could even have both mother and daughter in the same room. That would be up to Izumi and the detective however.

"Excuse me." Toshinori went to the nurses desk. "We're here to check up on Izumi and Inko Midoriya."

The nurse nodded and started to type away at her computer for a few seconds. "Okay…" the nurse reached over and popped a chip into her mouth. She chewed, before printing out visitor passes for the three of them. "You can see Inko Midoriya, but you can't see Izumi." The nurse told them before she swallowed her chip down.

"I'm sorry?" Toshinori gasped out.

Aizawa perked and moved a little closer to the nurses station.

"Izumi Midoriya cannot be visited at this time." The nurse repeated what she had said, though this time a little slower.

"And why not?" Aizawa snarled and he leaned forward so he and the nurse were now uncomfortably close to one another. The nurse didn't even flinch. She just popped another chip into her mouth.

"It says here on her file. She's under a twenty-four hour observation."

"Why, I thought she only fainted?" Toshinori inquired in a soft voice.

The nurse had a small knowing smile on her face for about half a second before it vanished. "I'm sorry to have to be the one to inform you on this." The nurse said, but Toshinori had a feeling that she wasn't sorry; she was delighted to tell people bad news. "But she's under suicide watch and has been deemed a threat to herself and to others."

"Suicide watch?! Izumi isn't-" Toshinori felt some blood well up in the back of his throat, but he managed to swallow it down.

Once again, a ghost of a smile appeared on the woman's face. "That's not what the file here says. From what I heard: She tried to jump out of her window."

"You can wipe that smile off your face any second now." Aizawa snarled at the nurse. "From where I'm standing there is nothing to be smiling about."

The nurse snorted. "Regardless. You can't see her, not until she's been cleared by a doctor. If he even clears her that is. I heard she went psycho, she was screaming for her mom, and that she slugged the doctor so hard she broke his nose and knocked him out for ten solid seconds. They also put her on enough sedatives to knock out All Might, so even if she does get cleared, she probably won't wake for a real long while." She didn't even try to hide that smile this time.

Toshinori didn't know how to react. So, instead he just took the passes and handed them out.

Aizawa snatched his before turning to the nurse. "I'm glad you find this so amusing, ma'am. But know this-" Aizawa paused to read her name tag, he made it a point to do so, and then continued on.

"-Yuki Sarda, when I, a prohero by the way, bring the media's attention to your attitude about this, I'll find it really funny. A girl tried to jump out of a window, and you're smiling. Izumi is a goddamn child who felt the need to try and kill herself… and you're smiling. She was screaming for her fucking mother and had to be heavily sedated while undoubtedly being scared out of her goddamn mind and you find that funny? You make me sick."

And that was the end of it. Her smile finally dropped from her face, replaced with a scowl now. She didn't say anything to them after that and they left her alone. Together the three of them walked in silence for a good while. At least until they got to the elevator.

Once in, and once alone, Detective Tsukauchi was the one to finally ask. "Are you really going to the media about that nurse?"

Aizawa scoffed a familiar smile on his face just above his scarf. "A logical ruse. Let her stew in that fear."

Toshinori let out a surprise laugh. "Dammit, Shou!" Toshinori continued to laugh. "You really had me convinced!"

The detective let out his own laugh and shook his head. "Me too. I was afraid of the shitstorm coming."

"...I want to though. She was smiling. Toshinori, doesn't it piss you off?"

"Of course it did. It was Izumi she was talking about, I just… I was still processing what she was saying. Mostly the part where she said Izumi tried to jump out of the window, but also the bit about pumping Izumi with enough sedatives to knock out All Might, you know, me?... that's got to be a lot of drugs pumping through her veins and that nurse is right. Izumi is going to be unconscious for a long while." Toshinori whispered.

"We should have talked to her before we left." Aizawa sighed out. He then rubbed his temples. "We both knew something was wrong with Izumi, and we both knew Fujiwara had something to do with it at the time, but we didn't talk to her."

"We wanted to give her space…" Toshinori whispered all the same. "A foolish move on our part."

The mood in the elevator changed as both men thought about it. The same though in both of their heads. 'If I would have talked to her, she wouldn't have thought to jump.'

The rest of the elevator ride was silent. Eventually, the elevator 'dinged' and stopped on the fourth floor. The fourth floor was buzzing with activity, and the first sight to greet the three men was a doctor. A doctor sitting upright on a stretcher outside of one of the rooms where a nurse was treating his broken nose.

Aizawa was on this man like a bird ready to snatch a fish out of the water. "Are you one of the doctors who had to care for Izumi Midoriya?"

The doctor did not look impressed. "Yes, I am." He grumbled. "Are you her father?"

"Not quite. I'm her teacher."

The detective stepped forward now, pen and paper in his hands. "We just want to ask a few questions."

"I see." The doctor looked tired. His shoulders sagged heavily. While the nurse finished up putting a splint on his nose. "Thank you, you can leave." He waved the nurse off, who scurried away swiftly after that. "Is this about what happened a while ago?"

"Partially." The detective said softly. "Really, we're just concerned about Ms. Izumi. Can you tell us what happened?"

"Well…" The doctor swallowed hard. "We came in after she had jumped."

"You mean attempted to jump?"

"No. She jumped. Well… pushed herself out the window. Her mother, bless the woman, saved her before Izumi hit the ground."

Toshinori coughed. A spray of blood left his mouth in shock. This caused the doctor to jump in shock. "Are you okay?!"

"I'm fine! Please… continue."

"So, Inko Midoriya witnessed the suicide attempt?" The detective inquired.

"Yes. She used her quirk to pull her daughter to her. At least, that's what Inko told me."

The detective nodded along. It was all the truth.

The doctor let out a heavy sigh. "There are protocols for suicide attempts in the hospital. Izumi was deemed a threat to herself instantly, but at that point we didn't think she was a threat to others. We just wanted to get her back into the bed, but she was freaking out so badly after we tried to separate her from her mom. She started trying to fight us and that's when we realized she was in a dissociative state. She had no clue who we were and probably didn't even know where she was."

The doctor scratched at his face before continuing. "She was then deemed a threat to others around her. She was too violent to be around anyone, including her mother. So, we tried to strap her to the bed. Her quirk, whatever it was, started going crazy. Someone had yelled out that her quirk was some sort of super strength quirk, it was on her chart, So, I did what I thought best at the time and stabbed her with a quirk suppressant. That's how I ended up with this-" He pointed to his nose.

"In order to get the needle in her arm, I had to let go of her with one hand. That gave her enough wiggle room to free her arm and get me right in the nose. Even without a quirk she knocked me on my ass. Broke my nose right in two she did, but it was my fault. I shouldn't have let her go, not until she was strapped."

The detective nodded as he took all of this down. "I heard she was yelling for her mother? Wasn't Inko right there?"

"She was, but we had nurses keep her away. Especially when Izumi started to turn violent. Trust me, Inko was yelling just as much as Izumi was. She trying to yell at Izumi to calm down, but it got lost in all the shouting." The doctor rubbed between the bridge of his splinted nose. He then shook his head before lowering his hand from his face. "Izumi was so scared. She was afraid that we were going to hurt her mother. She was begging us not to hurt Inko right before she was sedated."

There were frowns on almost everyone's faces. Quietly, Toshinori leaned back so he could rest against the wall. His long arms crossed over his chest as he hung his head. He felt a scowl cross over his lips. 'Izumi… you shouldn't have had to bear this burden for as long as you did.' Toshinori felt his nose start to scrunch in anger. 'I'm going to help you, Young Izumi. I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure you get the help you deserve.'

"Is Inko in her room now or is she with Izumi?"

"Her room. She wasn't exactly happy when we denied her access to Izumi. But, like I told you three. Izumi is deemed a threat to others around her."

"She's technically unconscious right now." Aizawa spoke up. "Surely her mother at the very least should be allowed access."

"Yes, we put a lot of sedatives into her bloodstream. We didn't have a choice with that quirk of hers, she was unstable and we didn't want to risk her somehow resisting the quirk suppressants. It's happened before with a few patients with super powerful quirks."

"Yeah… you're lucky." Toshinori said after a minute. "Izumi doesn't have one quirk. If she would have used her other quirk… it probably wouldn't have ended well. So, as much as I hate to say it. The sedatives were probably a good call."

"Yes, and all that being said, Sir-" The doctor focused back around at Aizawa. "As much as we want Inko to be with her daughter during this time. We can't for Inko's own safety. People who wake from sedation can have one of two reactions. They either wake up where they left off. In Izumi's case, in a violent state, or they wake up unknowing of what happened to them. If Izumi wakes up violent that puts Ms. Midoriya at risk."

"I see." Aizawa huffed.

"Just one more question, sir. When did Izumi try to jump out of her window? Time wise. I need to know."

"...around… two-thirty-ish. If I'm correct."

The detective frowned. "It's six o' clock now. How are you just now getting your nose patched up?"

"Oh, my quirk!" The doctor laughed. "You see I can rewind things that happened to my body, but it's only temporary. So, I can't use it as a fix all. Case and point: Izumi broke my nose, but I still had patients I had to see. So, I used my quirk to rewind my broken nose to normal for the rest of my shift. By the time my shift had ended my nose had reverted back to broken."

"Oh, alright then. Thank you for explaining." The detective nodded and wrote stuff down. "Alright. I think we have what we need for now. Thank you for taking time to talk to us."

"Anytime, and uh, just… someone help that poor girl. She clearly needs it."

"Trust me." Aizawa grumbled into his scarf. "That's what we're trying to do."

When they got to Inko's room just down the hall. They found her sitting in a chair just staring straight out of the window. She barely moved at the sound of them approaching.

"Inko…" Toshinori was the first to speak as he approached Inko. His voice was cautious and steady, as if he knew he was approaching a dangerous animal on the verge of attacking. Inko Midoriya has been through a lot in one day. Too much in one day really.

"..." Inko didn't make an attempt to look back at them. Not yet anyways. She just stared out the window. "... You're a hero. All Might… have you ever… have you ever stopped someone from killing themselves before?" Inko whispered. She brought her thumb up to chew on the end of her nail.

"... I did once. A man. This was years ago, so forgive me, but my memory is fuzzy." Toshinori scratched his head at this. "He was middle aged. He crawled onto the Eshima Ohashi bridge with plans of jumping to his death."

Toshinori swallowed hard as the memory was coming back to him. "I had jumped up there to talk him down."

"What was he like? When you tried to talk to him that is. Was he angry?"

"...Was Izumi angry with you?"

"No… she… she was smiling. But, her smile- it was unnatural. She was smiling but she was also crying."

"Don't you dare lose that smile, young Midoriya!"

Toshinori's own voice came back inside his brain and it made him scowl… as well as tear up just a bit more. If Inko hadn't been fast enough… if Izumi had died… was she planning on dying with a smile painted on her face? It was absolutely macabre and it made Toshinori sick to think about.

"... At first. The man was angry." Toshinori moved the story along, not wanting to think about 'what if's' with Izumi right now. "But, instead of just grabbing him and bringing him down to the ground. I spoke with him. I sat on the railing and we talked."

"...I…I tried to talk with Izumi… but…." Inko shut her eyes tight and grabbed at her chest. "I must have said the wrong thing. Or did something wrong. Izumi just… pushed herself out of the window as I was trying to talk to her." Inko whimpered softly as a ragged breath left her mouth. "Every time I shut my eyes-" Inko's breath hitched up a little. "-I just see my baby pushing herself out of a window, with the intent to die. I… I'm so scared about her. Out of everything and everyone out to hurt her… I never thought she'd… she'd hurt herself."

Toshinori was quiet for a moment as he looked back at Aizawa and the detective. Both men stood there, allowing Toshinori to take the reins.

Toshinori swallowed, before reaching over and grabbing Inko's hand into both of his. "..I'm scared for Izumi, as well, and…I'm sorry. I made a promise to you. I promised you I'd help raise young Izumi and I clearly failed." Toshinori swallowed a lump in his throat. "But I can promise you this here and now. We're going to get Izumi the help she clearly needs."

Inko sniffled softly. "What if… what if she tries again, Toshinori?" Inko hiccuped softly as tears started to trail down her face. "What if she tries and this time I can't stop her or-or- I'm not around. The only reason she failed this time is because my quirk is going on the fritz." Inko cried as she leaned down so she could cling to Toshinori.

For a moment the two of them stayed there, clinging on to one another for dear life. The idea that they both almost lost someone close to them scared the two of them.

Eventually, the detective had to step in and ask Inko his questions. The questions were standard and Inko answered all of her abilities while clinging to Toshinori's hand the whole time. The detective soon finished up his questioning with: "What happened to Izumi was unfortunate and we're going to find Fujiwara if it's the last thing we do. He will face justice for what he has done."

"Thank you." Inko whispered.

The detective sighed and looked at his watch. "I have to go now, Toshinori, can you walk with me?"

"Uh… sure."

"I'll stay with Inko." Aizawa volunteered suddenly with a hand wave. "There's something I need to discuss with her anyways."

Toshinori scowled for a moment, but quickly let it go. "Very well, I'll be back."

Soon, the detective and Toshinori were both gone. Leaving Aizawa with Inko. The silence was stifling and tense to say the least. Aizawa licked his drying lips before speaking up after a minute. "You asked: What if Izumi tries again? Well, she's not going to try again, Ms. Midoriya." Aizawa said it so matter-of-factly that it made Inko look back at him in surprise. "At least, not while she's at UA. First and foremost: there are precautions put into place for situations like this." Aizawa walked in the room now, but still kept his distance. "For starters, until she is proven safe to herself, she is no longer allowed to be alone. Teachers will now keep a closer eye on her. Her classmates will know to do the same."

Inko didn't seem too happy by that as she stared at Aizawa. "I've seen the dorms, you forget that. She's on the second floor. She could jump from the balcony at night while everyone is sleeping."

"Not if I put a guard robot on her balcony and outside of her door at night. If she tries, I will immediately be notified. I live in the dorms, so she wouldn't get the chance. Trust me, Ms. Midoriya, we don't plan on letting Izumi try something like this at UA. We love our students. but that being said. Extra help would be welcomed, but not without your approval."

"I thought you had final say in Izumi's safety." The comment was snide, but not unjustified.

"Just when it comes to where she can and can't go. This decision I'm going to offer to you is only one I would offer in extreme circumstances, and this… this is rather extreme." Aizawa walked over and crouched down so he and her were next to each other.

"I have another student I have to do this for on occasion. But… we could have Izumi admitted to a private psychiatric hospital for two weeks. They can help her in ways we, the teachers, can't."

"You want to put her in a mental hospital?" Inko sounded horrified at the idea as her eyes went wide.

"Yes, but don't worry. I've seen this hospital and I would never send a student to one that was deemed even the slightest bit unsafe." Aizawa whispered. "Like I said. I already have a student that goes there. In fact: They're there now."

"...is my baby that far gone?"

"Gone? No. She's hurting, for sure. Inko: Izumi was raped. She was forced to keep it a secret because Fujiwara threatened to kill you, and when it all became too much Izumi tried to kill herself. That's a lot to unpack and, as skilled as our staff is… Izumi just won't get the help she needs." Aizawa dug into his scarf. "I had a feeling I was going to need this the moment you told me she was raped." He told her as he pulled out a brochure. "It's one of the best psychiatric hospitals in Japan."

Inko took the brochure."I don't… just looking at it. I don't know if I can afford to send her there-"

"The school will pay for it. So you don't have to worry about cost… just… think about it. For Izumi's sake. Something tells me you have plenty of time to think it over before she wakes up anyways."

"...Mr. Aizawa… if you didn't need my permission-"

"-I'd send her there in a heartbeat."

Inko's eyes widened for a moment before going back to normal. "I see…"

"Anyways, that's all I wanted to offer you. I should get going and make sure none of the other hellions burnt the dorms down-"

"Aizawa?"

"Hm?" Aizawa turned to look at Inko.

"I'm sorry. About this morning, I mean. I never should have yelled at you and… I should have listened when you said there was abuse going on." Inko shut her eyes before looking at Aizawa again. "I just got so angry because… it just couldn't be true. I almost got sucked into Fujiwara's lies…" Inko sniffled and wiped her eyes with her sleeve.

Aizawa let out a soft sigh behind his scarf. "Not your fault. Fujiwara is a master at manipulation. You're also not the only one to blame. I never should have allowed Fujiwara near the dorms. For that, I also take part in Izumi's downward spiral."

Inko looked down at the brochure in her hand again. "I didn't trust your judgement this morning and it nearly cost me my… my baby girl…" Inko shut her eyes tight as her lower lip trembled slightly. She sucked in a deep breath and reopened her eyes. "So… I'm putting all the faith I have in you now. I'll allow it." Inko whispered as she reached out to hand the brochure back.

"Think about it, first."

"You said it's the best?"

"Yes."

"You said you already sent a child there before and they're there now?"

"Yes."

"Then what more do I need to think about, Mr. Aizawa? You have my full trust. Help my baby, please."

Merry christmas! I'm so glad I got this out today! Also, now it's time for something I've been dying to get to. The mental hospital arc!
